Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى (S8) We attribute good to Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى, we attribute evil to ourselves. Everything Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى has created, He سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى did so perfectly. There is no flaws in Allah's سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى design. The verse of Izza (attached below). Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى needs no one, we are all in need of Him سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى. This verse is very powerful and must be implemented. Whenever the Messenger ﷺ was going through a hard time, Jibraaeel (a.s) would tell him ﷺ to recite it.

Those who attribute a place or direction to Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى are guilty of an innovation. We don't even know the creation, never mind comprehending The Creator سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى. The Messenger ﷺ told us of a creation that is to the west, it takes the sun 40 days to reach it. This creation has never disobeyed Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى. It is unaware of the creation of Adam (a.s) and is also unaware of Shaytaan. Surah [74:31]: “And none knows the forces of your Lord except He”. (سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى). اَللَّٰهُ أَكْبَرُ.

Yaffa, her husband Danny, and seven children made aliya in the summer of 2013 and now live in Mitzpe Yericho. Yaffa served as teacher and Director of Ateres Seminary for women on the Queens College Campus for 13 years and she was also involved in the Neshei Shor Yoshuv community where she gave chaburas for married women.I met Yaffa when I was a student exactly seven years ago at Midreshet Rachel and have continued to learn from her and with her since. She has such a wealth of knowledge and this conversation really turned into the perfect thing to listen to right in the middle of Elul preparing for the chagim.During this time at Midreshet Rachel, the students learn from the sefer, Tomer Devorah, which teaches us about Hashem's 13 Attributes of Mercy. We shouldn't walk into something holy unprepared. And we certainly shouldn't walk into Rosh Hashanah cold. Selichot is our preparation. At its heart is an astonishing passage in the Talmud: God promises to forgive the Jewish People when they do this prayer - the 13 Attributes of Mercy. The beautiful Piyutim of Selichot surround and lead us repeatedly back to these words, placing God's mercy, compassion, and forgiveness at the center of our preparation. But remarkably, we cannot do this alone. The 13 Attributes require a minyan. Sivan Rahav Meir points to the tens of thousands of Jews of every kind who gather at midnight at the Kotel for Selichot - perhaps the greatest expression of Jewish unity in the world today. We prepare personally for Rosh Hashanah, but we approach God's mercy together. Rabbi Shlomo Aviner reminds us of the Zohar's teaching that holiness requires preparation. Selichot gives us that opportunity now, before we stand before God on Rosh Hashanah. Don't walk in cold. Take a deep breath - and fill your lungs with holiness. And the identity crisis that waits for almost every cop, operator, and first responder on the back end of a career they gave everything to.The conversation goes deep on culture, and what it actually takes to change one that has calcified around unacceptable behaviors that everyone stopped questioning. We talk trust, tribalism, accountability, physical fitness standards, and why law enforcement as an institution keeps setting its people up to struggle.If you're in law enforcement, military, or any performance culture where identity gets tangled up in a patch or a title, this one is going to land. Jabo says the quiet part out loud: what you did is not who you are. And that cuts both ways.In this episode:• Jabo failed his first SWAT weapons qualification in front of the whole team, was declared non-deployable, and had to fix himself alone because the culture at the time treated any weakness like blood in the water. The breakthrough came from removing the target entirely, focusing on the sensations of the process rather than the outcome, and letting go of the performance anxiety by training on the berm with his eyes closed.• The 'what you did is not who you are' principle runs in both directions: it applies to elite operators who define themselves by a single career achievement AND to people who cannot forgive themselves for past mistakes. Jabo uses this explicitly in his resiliency programs.• Jabo's framework for culture: a culture is a group of people with agreed-upon acceptable and unacceptable behaviors, and unacceptable behaviors that go uncorrected become acceptable behaviors. He applies this to law enforcement agencies, SWAT teams, and even to himself, noting he accepted behaviors from himself for years that he now considers unacceptable.• On changing a culture: the people most resistant to change are the ones most comfortable with how things are. Jabo's practical answer is to bring the group back to WHY, and to install a formal process for presenting new ideas so that feedback can be reviewed, discussed, put to bed, and moved past, rather than recycled endlessly.• The 'blind spot buddy' principle from two-man patrol cars: when you are driving with lights and sirens, you trust your partner to clear what you cannot see. Jabo argues that same trust is the exact thing missing in most law enforcement cultures, and that you cannot have genuine accountability or culture change without it.• Duration does not equal dedication. We remember what we learned but lose track of where it came from. I dig into source confusion, the memory quirk that quietly decides who gets credit on your team, whose research gets remembered, and why the person who repeats an idea usually beats the person who had it.Have you ever watched your idea come out of someone else's mouth twenty minutes later and get all the applause you didn't?Source confusion is the reason your team's history gets rewritten without anyone meaning to do it. We hold onto what we learn and quietly lose the note about where it came from. Back in 1993, researchers Marcia Johnson, Shahin Hashtroudi, and Steven Lindsay laid this out as the source monitoring framework: memories don't come with a tag saying where they originated. Every time you recall something, your brain rebuilds the source on the spot using clues like how vivid it feels or whether you remember thinking it through. And because the source gets rebuilt instead of retrieved, it can get rebuilt wrong. An idea you worked hard on feels like yours whether it was or not, and an idea that arrived easily in conversation leaves fewer clues behind, which makes it easy to lose track of who actually said it first.On a design team, this quietly reshapes who gets credit, and credit is the whole game. It decides who gets trusted with the next big project, who gets promoted, and whose voice carries weight in the next planning meeting. The person who develops ideas out loud and in writing piles up credit, while the person who seeds an idea quietly and moves on gets absorbed into someone else's story. The good news is that this is predictable, and predictable things you can plan around. What does it truly mean to make an impact? A women's basketball coach at Texas A&M offered a simple but powerful distinction: success is what happens to you, while impact is what happens because of you. Numbers 8, set against the backdrop of the Israelites preparing to journey through the wilderness, gives us four clear attributes of a person who makes a lasting difference. God was literally at the center of the Israelite camp, and that arrangement was intentional. When He is at the center of our lives, everything else finds its proper place.The four attributes are ears that hear the Lord, hands that build a team, a heart that loves the presence of God, and a soul that shines while dented. Hearing God means opening His Word with genuine expectancy, not just asking Him to bless our existing plans but actually listening for His. Building a team means delegating real trust and responsibility to others, whether in ministry, marriage, or family life. Loving His presence means creating space to actually be with God, not just attending church or reading a verse occasionally, but slowing down enough to connect deeply. And shining while dented means allowing the painful, hammered seasons of life to shape us into purposeful instruments rather than broken ones.Jesus modeled all four of these attributes perfectly. He listened constantly to His Father, built a team of disciples, withdrew regularly to pray, and shined most brilliantly while suffering on the cross. Because of it, He became the most impactful person who ever walked the earth. Impact is not reserved for pastors or missionaries or people with large platforms. It belongs to anyone willing to live with ears open, hands extended, a heart pursuing His presence, and a soul that keeps shining even when life has left its marks.

Subtitle: Why the best rebounders on the floor are rarely the tallest players in the gym Show Notes Every coach says they want a team that rebounds. Very few actually teach it. In this episode we break down the five attributes that show up in every great rebounder, and how to build each one in players who do not have length or leaping ability on their side. What we cover: Anticipation. Reading the shot before it leaves the shooter's hand. Understanding that most misses come back long and to the weak side, and how that knowledge gives a player a half second head start on the ball. Toughness and physicality. Rebounding is a contact skill and a decision, not a talent. The willingness to initiate contact and hold ground under the rim is what separates a rebounder from a tall player standing nearby. Positioning and technique. Finding a body, making contact, and going to get it. Hit and go, not hit and stand. Players who box out and then admire their work hand the ball right back. Pursuit and motor. Most rebounds are not caught on the first jump. Keeping the ball alive, tapping it out, and chasing it down again is where possessions get won. Securing and finishing. Two hands, chin it, land strong, then make the right next play. A rebound you cannot keep is not a rebound. Drills and teaching points to take with you.
