2x Big Wave World Champion and 3x Peʻahi Challenge winner Paige Alms joins Conner Coffin on the 805 Beer Cold Beer Surf Club. Coming from the 2025 Big Wave Awards in Newport Beach, CA, Paige reflects on the moments that defined her career and the tight-knit big-wave community that feels like family every time they come together. From getting caught inside by a 60-foot set during a contest, to foiling between Hawaiian islands, to surfing “by braille” in giant conditions, Paige breaks down what it means to be a true waterwoman. She recalls the “swell that changed everything” at Jaws, and reflects on her mentorship under the late, great Chris Vandervoort, and the pioneers who paved the way – legends like Marcio Freire, Yuri Soledade, and Deniro Couto. She highlights how Shane Dorian and Ian Walsh pushed the boundaries of what's possible, and gives props to the next generation, Albee Layer, Kai Lenny, Matt Meola, and more, for carrying the torch and taking big-wave surfing into the future. She shares why she believes Peʻahi is the best big wave on the planet, breaks down her favorite boards for charging Jaws, and opens up about developing a cold-water allergy that forced her to rethink recovery and preparation. She talks about her early “claim to fame” moment beating Carissa Moore in junior NSSA contests and winning a national title, and how those battles shaped her competitive fire. She dives into the progression of women's surfing across every discipline, the wins and wipeouts that shaped her journey, and what's next as she balances chasing swells with mentoring the next generation. In this episode, you will hear big waves. Improve your health and happiness. The sound you hear in this episode creates a calm atmosphere and at the same time blocks out disturbing noises. This will help you de-stress, unwind, and rest. Enjoy two hours of relaxing sounds to help you relax, focus, study and fall asleep.About ASMR Sleep Recordings:The purpose of ASMR Sleep Recording is to help you sleep and concentrate better. This particular episode lasts two hours and has no ads in the middle, so you won't be woken up or disturbed while focusing or relaxing. When you listen to ASMR Sleep Recordings, you can lock your phone, so you won't get any bothersome stimuli from notifications and other sounds from your phone. You can switch between apps while studying or working without pausing the ambient sound.About our sounds:Water creates a natural white noise. Infused with the relaxing quality of nature and the sound-masking properties of white noise, listening to running water is an ideal way to turn off all the stressful things life brings, and to de-stress. Some of our most popular sounds include a river, flowing creek, babbling brook, gentle waves on a lake, and a bamboo fountain. Rain also creates a natural white noise. Infused with the relaxing quality of nature and the sound-masking properties of white noise, listening to rain is an ideal way to switch off all the stressful things life brings and to de-stress. Some of our most popular sounds are rain on an umbrella, hailstorms, hard rain, soft rain, gentle rain, wind and rain, rain on a car.White noise helps babies and children to get a better and deeper night's sleep. This is because external sounds are masked by the noise. With white noise in the background, your child will not hear annoying cars driving by or dogs barking in bed. This allows your little one to sleep better. And it also saves you as a parent a lot of hours!Pink noise is more common in nature than you might expect. It can be compared to continuous rainfall or wind. In addition to white noise, pink noise is also increasing in popularity, especially in business environments. Because it can increase productivity, concentration and creativity.Brown noise can be compared to waves of the sea, a river current, strong winds or the sound of thunder during a storm. Like pink noise, brown noise is very similar to white noise. However, the frequencies have been lowered even further and a lot more concentrated. This gives it a rougher/coarse tone than pink noise. It sounds a bit deeper and a bit bass-like. The benefits of brown noise are the same as the other types of noise. It provides relaxation, increased focus and improved deep sleep.DISCLAIMER: Be aware that loud noises can damage your hearing. If you can't carry on a conversation without raising your voice while playing one of our spheres, the sound may be too loud for your ears. Do not place the speakers directly next to a baby's ears. If you have trouble hearing or ringing in your ears, stop listening to the white noise immediately and see an audiologist or your doctor. The sounds provided by ASMR Sleep Recordings are for entertainment purposes only and are not a treatment for sleep disorders or tinnitus. Consult your doctor if you regularly have severe sleeping problems, experience fitful/restless sleep or feel tired during the day.ASMR Sleep Recordings is the white noise and nature sounds podcast to help you sleep, study or soothe a baby. In a special two-parter episode of The Lineup, Dave Prodan sits down with fearless big wave charger and YETI ambassador Tom Lowe for two powerful conversations – one from before his nearly fatal incident in Tahiti in June 2025 and one after. In the first part of the episode, Tom rejoins us from Tahiti, still in recovery, right from the very place where he describes everything went very quickly from a dream to a nightmare. He walks us through the day it happened, at least all the moments he remembers. He recounts the locals' heroics, catching a few mid-sized waves himself, gaining confidence, and feeling ready for a big one. He speaks candidly about the mental toll of this injury versus the physical, and the emotional weight of what he's put his loved ones through. With striking vulnerability, he opens up about the recovery, the guilt, the gratitude, and the commitment to keep moving forward. The second part of the episode was recorded just before Tom's most recent mission to Tahiti, a trip that would culminate in a near-fatal injury at Teahupoʻo. Lowe discusses both the clarity and the nerves he was bringing into the swell, feeling ready to return since his first nearly fatal injury back there in 2023. He discusses life as a dad, the rhythm he's found chasing waves around the world, and the emotional toll of leaving behind his young family to pursue swells as a professional big wave surfer. He reflects on his latest film with YETI, Let Me Live, a raw and beautifully captured portrait of identity, purpose, and a life on the edge, produced by the legendary Keith Malloy and Bimarian Films. From pig hunting in Paso Robles and an unlikely hang out with Post Malone, to being held up at gun point by pirates in Indonesia with Mark Healey, and producing some of the most respected films in surf culture today, Keith opens up about the chapters of his life that shaped him. Keith reminisces on his competitive heats against 3x World Champion Tom Curren, being towed into his first Pe'ahi wave by Big Wave magnate Laird Hamilton, and shares about the projects he's working on with YETI – Let Me Live, a portrait of big wave charger Tom Lowe, set to drop in June 2025, Astronaut in the Ocean with Shane Ackerman, to one in the works with Stephanie Gilmore. He talks about his many other classic films and projects like shooting with Taylor Steele for Loose Change, SIK JOY with the late Jack McCoy, and documenting and producing Life of Kai and witnessing Kai Lenny's jaw-dropping Peʻahi performance in real time. Keith teases a potential (and hopeful) film with Bobby Martinez as they muse over their shared roots, from the brothers' early surf days, to their mutual admiration for Jason Baffa's influence, their love of fishing, hunting and cooking, and how deep family bonds and brotherhood anchor everything. Keith reflects on his upbringing, his father's foundational wisdom, and his transition from pro surfer to filmmaker with Bimarian Films. The two touch on the state of the surf industry, past and present, environmental concerns like red tide, and the enduring power of surfing as a path to physical and mental wellness. Federal agencies expanding their power beyond congressional intent? Unelected bureaucrats making policy decisions? Regulatory whiplash?! According to the litigants urging the Supreme Court to strike down the Chevron doctrine in the Loper Bright case, those were the harms Americans would continue to face if Chevron deference were allowed to continue. But striking down the pivotal legal principle that had been in place for 40 years would bring its own risks, defenders of Chevron argued. Scientific and technical decisions would need to be made by judges with no specialized expertise. Regulatory uncertainty would soar, as thousands of existing rules face new challenges. And the Supreme Court itself could be forced to become, as Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson put it, "uber-legislators." In part two of our episode on Loper Bright, the high court ostensibly considers the plight of the herring fishermen, but actually looks to decide whether to abandon the Chevron doctrine once and for all.Stylebook flag Featured Guests: Ryan Mulvey, counsel with the Cause of Action Institute Jeff Kaelin, director of sustainability and government relations at Lund's Fisheries Wayne Reichle, President of Lund's Fisheries Gillian Metzger, Harlan Fiske Stone Professor of constitutional law at Columbia University Lydia Wheeler, co-host of Cases and Controversies & Supreme Court reporter for Bloomberg Law Greg Stohr, co-host of Cases and Controversies & Supreme Court reporter for Bloomberg News Kimberly Robinson, co-host of Cases and Controversies & Supreme Court reporter for Bloomberg Law *** Hosted and produced by Matthew S. Their Black Label expression, finished in Irish stout barrels at 94 proof, offers a unique sipping experience that showcases how Irish whiskey creates perfect harmony with barrel finishes compared to bourbon's typically more dominant base spirit.• Bua Irish Whiskey started when Pat (bar owner) and Martin (Tullamore Dew rep) dreamed of creating their own brand• The White Label expression (123 proof) is an OHLQ single barrel, while the new Black Label (94 proof) joins their core lineup• Irish whiskey accepts barrel finishing differently than bourbon, creating a true 50-50 flavor partnership• The Black Label features notes of vanilla, confectioner's sugar, and unique citrus characteristics• Roughly 90% of Irish whiskey is controlled by just four brands, making craft producers like Bua a rare find• Try making a Guinness reduction syrup with brown sugar for an exceptional Bua old-fashioned• Guinness surprisingly contains only 3.8% ABV, less than Bud Light's 4.2%Join us at Burns Pub to experience the full range of Bua whiskeys and discover why these small-batch Irish spirits deserve your attention.Behind every great whiskey lies a story of friendship, passion, and craftsmanship. For Bua Irish Whiskey, that story begins at Burns Pub in Columbus, Ohio, where bar owner Pat and former Tullamore Dew representative Martin transformed their "what if" conversations into a thriving local whiskey brand that captures the essence of Irish spirit-making while standing firmly on Ohio soil. The Scotchy Bourbon Boys dive deep into Bua's expressions, particularly celebrating their stout-finished offerings. What sets these apart is how masterfully Irish whiskey accepts barrel finishing – creating a true 50-50 partnership between the base spirit and the finishing barrel, rather than the subtle complementary notes often found in finished bourbons. This harmony of flavors allows both elements to shine equally, creating a unique drinking experience. Most striking is Bua's ability to compete with industry giants despite their small-batch nature. With approximately 90% of Irish whiskey sales controlled by just four major brands, craft producers like Bua represent a small but mighty force in the market, offering innovative expressions that challenge convention. Their White Label OHLQ single barrel (an impressive 123 proof) and the new Black Label core expression (94 proof) deliver complexity and character rarely found in standard Irish offerings, earning a remarkable 15/18 score in the hosts' "Barrel Bottle Breakdown" assessment.Whether you're a bourbon enthusiast looking to expand your palate or an Irish whiskey aficionado seeking something beyond the mainstream, Bua delivers with notes of vanilla, confectioner's sugar, and unique citrus characteristics that dance across the palate. The hosts even suggest trying a Guinness reduction syrup with brown sugar and chocolate bitters for an exceptional Bua old-fashioned – perfect for celebrating St. Patrick's Day or any day worthy of a remarkable pour. Everyone knows that Seattle is Pearl Jam's hometown city, but just like Chicago is a hometown city for Eddie Vedder, so is San Diego. Not just that, but it extends to both Mike McCready and Matt Cameron as well. So any time that the band gets to travel to San Diego, there's no doubt that you're in for a special show. In 2006, that's exactly what happens. The band played with their pants on fire and every song had high octane energy as the hometown crowd was treated to something special. The main story from this show took place at the top of the encore where Ed paid tribute to his former drama teacher, a man named Clayton E. Liggett, who Ed had a theater created in his name. He told the story about finding out the night he passed away during the Mirrorball sessions. After hearing of the news, he went back into the studio and started to strum his guitar with the opening chord of what would become Long Road. We'll talk about how important this moment was when looking back on the history of this band, and we'll also share our own personal stories of how teachers have impacted our lives. There are so many ways we can all connect to Ed, and this story is transcendent due to his vulnerability in sharing that. There are also some big time performances at this show. The first four songs of this show from Oceans to Brain Of J. set the bar incredibly high for the night, and then incredible performances to follow such as Even Flow, You Are, Satan's Bed, Inside Job, Rearviewmirror with a Life Wasted inspired improv, Crown Of Thorns, a big time Alive solo and the debut of Big Wave. We'll spend the episode discussing which 2006 shows best define this era and if this show deserves to be in the conversation. Is this a candidate for the Live On 4 Legs hall of fame?
