In this episode, Bill reconnects with Ari Berman, National Voting Rights Correspondent for Mother Jones, to discuss potential threats to the fairness and legality of upcoming elections. Berman emphasizes concerns about former President Trump's potential interference and outlines how the federal government's recent actions, such as demanding state voter rolls, could suppress voter turnout. The discussion highlights fears of racial gerrymandering, the implications of the Save America Act, and the persistence of unfounded voter fraud claims. They also critique the limited support from Republicans for election integrity and consider the importance of safeguarding democratic processes against federal overreach. Bill recommends Ari's latest book, Minority Rule: The Right-Wing Attack on the Will of the People―and the Fight to Resist It. From the publisher: "In this masterful, groundbreaking work, Pulitzer Prize-winning author Heather Ann Thompson shines surprising new light on an infamous 1984 New York subway shooting that would unveil simmering racial resentments and would lead, in unexpected ways, to a fractured future and a new era of rage and violence. On December 22, 1984, in a graffiti-covered New York City subway car, passengers looked on in horror as a white loner named Bernhard Goetz shot four Black teens, Darrell Cabey, Barry Allen, Troy Canty, and James Ramseur, at point-blank range. He then disappeared into a dark tunnel. After an intense manhunt, and his eventual surrender in New Hampshire, the man the tabloid media had dubbed the “Death Wish Vigilante” would become a celebrity and a hero to countless ordinary Americans who had been frustrated with the economic fallout of the Reagan 80s. Overnight, Goetz's young victims would become villains."Dr. Heather Ann Thompson's website can be found at https://www.heatherannthompson.com/Information on her book can be found at https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/771433/fear-and-fury-by-heather-ann-thompson/AxelbankHistory.com is designed by https://www.ellieclairedesigns.com/Axelbank Reports History and Today" can be found on social media at https://twitter.com/axelbankhistoryhttps://instagram.com/axelbankhistoryhttps://facebook.com/axelbankhistory

The February 9, 1976 cover of Sports Illustrated froze a moment that changed Tennessee basketball forever. Bernard King and Ernie Grunfeld weren't just winning games — they were transforming the sport. King played with raw power and fearless intent, a scorer who imposed his will, while Grunfeld brought grace, vision, and a scorer's touch that made defenses choose wrong every time. Together, they became more than teammates. They were a movement. The Ernie and Bernie Show wasn't just a hit — it was must-see basketball. What made them unforgettable was how perfectly they balanced each other. You couldn't stop one without awakening the other. King attacked the rim like it owed him something. Grunfeld punished hesitation with precision. Their chemistry lifted Tennessee onto the national stage and announced that the Volunteers belonged among college basketball's elite at a moment when the game itself was exploding into the American consciousness. For Mike Keith, those two players meant something even deeper. Long before he became the unmistakable Voice of the Vols, he was a kid watching Bernard and Ernie make Tennessee matter. On Past Our Prime, Mike reflects on seeing them play in Atlanta when the Omni first opened — how they looked like kings, on and off the court, and how that moment felt like personal validation. Tennessee was no longer just his team; it was a national treasure, and he was proud to share it with the world. Bernard King and Ernie Grunfeld didn't just shape an era — they helped shape Mike Keith's love for the Vols and the voice he would one day lend to their history. It's the Bernie and Ernie Show, decades later, meeting the man who carries their legacy forward every night. Mike Keith joins Past Our Prime — and it's a conversation that still echoes through Knoxville. Listen and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. Learn more about your ad choices. Today Ron discusses the recent government shutdown avoidance, highlighting the passage of five separate bills, including a bipartisan vote that excluded the Save Act requiring photo ID for voting. The bill also includes $8.4 billion more than Trump's request, cuts $10 billion in wasteful foreign aid, and ends taxpayer subsidies for woke media. Ron's conversation also touches on the Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act, which passed with only one Democrat voting in favor, and the ongoing immigration enforcement efforts, emphasizing the need for cooperation from local law enforcement. Ron gives his opinion on Sen. Bernie Sanders' proposal to cap credit card interest at 10%. In part two of Red Eye Radio with Gary McNamara and Eric Harley, a NY Times article breaks down President Trump's numbers on the 2024 election and pollster opinion reveals no dependence on a MAGA mono culture. Most votes in his favor skewed independents and some liberals who were disenchanted with the Biden Administration and their lack of faith in the Democratic agenda. Also affordability remains the key concern for voters going into the mid-terms, audio from Bill Maher on last year's Oscars, Senator Bernie Sanders who crisscrossed the country last year on a Fighting Oligarchy tour with AOC spent over $550,000 in 2025 on private jet travel for himself using campaign funds and the SAVE Act gains momentum (save for Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer). This episode of The Kibbe & Friends Show brings the show back to its Phase 4 sweet spot with a full-on Dukes Review of one of the best early Georgia-era episodes of The Dukes of Hazzard: Season 1, Episode 4 — “Repo Men.” It's the perfect mix of simple Hazzard County storytelling, big laughs, and the kind of car-nerd details that only this show obsesses over — right down to the General Lee quirks, the Waylon “balladeer” narration, and why this episode still matters in Dukes lore. Rob Kibbe, Justin “Corndog” Cornette, and producer Bernie McPartland break down why “Repo Men” is a fan-favorite: Bo and Luke get pulled into a crooked car-dealer scheme involving a Rolls-Royce repo, a counterfeit ring, and some truly savage stunt payoff. Along the way, the guys spotlight what makes the Georgia episodes special — the chemistry between Bo and Luke, the early-series simplicity, and the wild practical stunts that feel like they could never happen the same way today. And of course, Corndog goes deep on General Lee specifics: the rare window-up shots, the '68 tells, and the car-history rabbit holes that turn this review into a full Dukes enthusiast session. The post K&F Show #355: Broken Arms, Bad General Lees, and Bernie on the News // Dukes VIDEO Review S1E4 “Repo Men” first appeared on The Muscle Car Place.

Synopsis: An AI revolution is underway, but so is the resistance. This show is made possible by you! To become a sustaining member go to LauraFlanders.org/donateDescription: An AI revolution is underway, but so is the resistance. People across the country are feeling the strain of the huge energy-sucking data processing centers that AI requires, and telling their elected officials to slow down or stop new big tech projects for firms like OpenAI, Amazon, Google, Facebook and Microsoft. Data from a 2025 Pew study shows that only 17 percent of Americans think AI will have a positive impact over the next 20 years. But it's a David vs. Goliath battle. Today's guests say AI expansion is not a red or blue issue; it's about who gets to decide how human and natural resources are distributed, who controls the technology, and who stands to benefit. Faiz Shakir is the Founder and Executive Director of the labor-focused news platform More Perfect Union, and serves as a political advisor for Senator Bernie Sanders. John Cassidy, staff writer at the New Yorker, is the author of the recent book, “Capitalism and Its Critics: A History: From the Industrial Revolution to AI”, in which he draws our attention back to the Luddites, the 18th century workers whose revolt deserves our closer attention. Plus, our correspondent's coverage of a shocking scene at a public comment meeting in Wisconsin when a local woman was arrested and dragged away. If AI is the new face of capitalism, what is the new alternative?“Luddites, when I was growing up, was a term of abuse. It was people who were sort of antediluvians and didn't understand the modern world. . . . They understood the modern world as it was in their times perfectly, and they saw it was moving against them, and they saw that the political system wasn't coming to their defense.” - John Cassidy“. . . There's more and more pushback, which hopefully portends the possibility that a lot of these communities can strike better deals if they are going to have data centers. There's no reason why we can't be asking that the teachers are well paid, that the electricity rates don't go up, that we have decent affordable housing in those communities. That is all possible because we're playing with incredible amounts of dollars and deep-pocketed people . . . ” - Faiz ShakirGuests:• John Cassidy: Staff Writer, The New Yorker; Author, Capitalism and Its Critics: A History: From the Industrial Revolution to AI• Faiz Shakir: Founder & Executive Director, More Perfect Union; Political Advisor & Former Campaign Manager, Senator Bernie Sanders Watch the episode released on YouTube; PBS World Channel 11:30am ET Sundays and on over 300 public stations across the country (check your listings, or search here via zipcode). The Director of National Intelligence showed up to an FBI raid on a Georgia elections office. Then she put the President on speakerphone with the agents. Then we found out she's been sitting on a whistleblower complaint about herself for eight months. This week, we're talking about Tulsi Gabbard, the woman who went from Bernie Sanders endorser to Democratic presidential candidate to Fox News guest host to Trump's spy chief in one of the most cynical political transformations in modern American history. We're talking about the Fulton County raid, the classified complaint locked in a safe, her documented history of consuming Russian state media, her secret meeting with Assad, and why Russian state TV calls her "Russia's girlfriend." I'm not going to dance around it: I think Tulsi Gabbard is a Russian asset. And I'm going to tell you exactly why. Buckle up.KEY POINTSOn January 28, 2026, FBI agents seized 700 boxes of 2020 election materials from Fulton County, Georgia. DNI Tulsi Gabbard was physically present, at Trump's specific direction. The day after the raid, Gabbard visited the FBI's Atlanta field office and put Trump on speakerphone with the agents. He gave them a "pep talk" for investigating the election he lost.Former FBI officials called this "unprecedented" and said there is "unanimous disgust" across current and former agents.A whistleblower complaint about Gabbard has been locked in a safe for eight months. Federal law requires transmission to Congress within three weeks.Three former aides told ABC News that Gabbard regularly read and shared articles from RT, the Kremlin's principal propaganda outlet. In 2017, Gabbard took a secret trip to Damascus and met with Assad for nearly three hours. Congressional staffers later worried she might leak information about a Syrian defector.A former U.S. ambassador to NATO called Gabbard's 2017 foreign policy memo "basically the Russian playbook."At her confirmation hearing, Gabbard refused to call Edward Snowden a traitor. Senator Bennet responded: "Apparently, you don't understand how critical our national security is."Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/we-saw-the-devil-crime-political-analysis--4433638/support.Website: http://www.wesawthedevil.comPatreon: http://www.patreon.com/wesawthedevilDiscord: https://discord.gg/X2qYXdB4Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/WeSawtheDevilInstagram: http://www.instagram.com/wesawthedevilpodcast.
In this episode Bill discusses the pressing issue of affordability in the United States with Andrew Bates and Terry Holt, both advisors to The Cost Coalition. Bates(D) is a former Biden Senior Deputy Press Secretary and Holt (R) is a former spokesperson for Former Speaker John Beohner and George W. Bush. They explore how rising costs are affecting Americans across the board, from daily groceries to long-term investments like housing and healthcare. The conversation highlights the political implications of these issues, noting the failure of the current administration to fulfill promises of lowering costs. Bates and Holt also discuss their roles in the Cost Coalition, an organization dedicated to exposing the policies driving these price increases and advocating for working people. They address the potential impact of tariffs, tax policies, and healthcare cuts on the American middle class and suggest that affordability will be a key issue in upcoming elections. On our latest podcast, we take a look at the episodes of Coronation Street shown between the 26th and the 30th January 2026 (Episodes #11,782 - 11,786). Definitely a bit of a divisive week, this one, with opinions all over the place online about Billy's funeral and Bernie's subsequent getting off her cake, as she put it. Even the pair of us felt quite differently to each other about how Wednesday's episode went down, with Gemma praising the writing and direction whilst Michael didn't think it quite did enough to honour Billy's time in the show amongst the Carl vs Theo drama. Speaking of which, we chat for quite a bit this week about who we'd prefer to ultimately see come on top there, and how much Theo is actually in control of what he's doing. One thing we both agreed on, though - which seemingly a sizeable chunk of Corrie fans online disagreed with - was that Thursday's Bernie-centric saga was fantastic, plus we were both very chuffed to see Sam back on centre stage on Monday's episode - and think that Megan will prove to be quite a force for him to reckon with! Another fairly news-lite week saw us skipping The Kabin again, so after Street Talk, we head straight to the feedback section for more of your fabulous emails. Domestic abuse is an unfortunate reality for far too many people. Many people will flee a bad situation with no real plan for the future beyond surviving. Today, we chat with Patti Slaughter, the Founder and Executive Director of The Bernie House. Named for Patti's father and his legacy of caring, The Bernie House (or houses) is a place for families to live in a true home while they get back on track. Victims of domestic violence will typically flee their situation after seven incidents, but shelters are only a temporary solution. The Bernie House and its four homes are what comes next! (And to correct a statistic that I tried to recall when speaking with Patti-- 2 out of 5 people are victims of domestic abuse!) During their stay, resources for education, employment, and life skills are made available. At the end of their stay, all the contents of their home are left with them. Truly, this is an amazing organization that defines the phrase "small but mighty." We also hopped on the phone with Stephanie Canali, who has written a book about her situation and her experience with The Bernie House-- Breaking Chains, Building Homes: The Bernie House Transformation. Stephanie's story is one of grit and perseverance with a VERY happy ending! Plus, she'll be at Hearts and Hatters (see below) signing books! We also chat about Hearts and Hatters! This gala is an annual event around this time of the year, held in support of The Bernie House. And it is a great time to boot! This year, it will be held on Valentine's Day at the Graduate by Hilton Hotel on West Street. Tickets are available at The Bernie House's website or on the Where In Annapolis (app). Have a listen! Synopsis: Only 17% of Americans think AI will have a positive impact over the next 20 years: Hear from labor-focused news platform More Perfect Union's Founder Faiz Shakir and NYer staff writer John Cassidy on who gets to decide how human and natural resources are distributed in the age of AI capitalism.
