In this episode, Dr. Poole shares his insights on navigating DEI work amidst politically charged times and emphasizes the importance of process improvement and stakeholder experience. They discuss how to identify and support students who fall through the margins, the significance of PD, and the need for cultural consciousness over competence. Cameron also highlights the role of data-driven decision-making and intentionality in creating equitable learning environments. Cameron's call to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Access, Justice, and human advocacy started long before he considered himself a professional in those areas. As a Senior in college, he studied abroad in Cape Town, South Africa as a Fieldworker Intern with the Black Sash Trust. In the field, he used the Black Sash strategy of Community-Based Monitoring which provides a mechanism for civil society to gather and analyze information from the service users' points of view, which was then transcribed and used as a strategy for change with local and national governments.Cameron currently serves as the Chief Officer of Equity, Inclusion, and Accountability / Title IX Compliance Coordinator with the School District of Clayton (MO). Prior to his stint in Clayton, Cameron served as an Assistant Principal in the Rockwood School District, and a teacher in the Parkway School District. He also currently serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Equity & Excellence Masters Certificate Program for McDaniel College and the Doctorate of Educational Leadership Program (Urban Policies and Leadership) for Maryville University. Cameron is also the Founder + Principal of his own consulting firm, Strategies for Solutions, LLC. Strategies for Solutions is a social equity and educational consultancy that specializes in the following: Strategic Planning and Visioning, Community Engagement, DEI, and Organizational Development. Cameron obtained an undergraduate degree in History, with an emphasis on American History Post-Reconstruction, and a Sociology Minor, from Truman State University. An old friend of Benjamin Franklin always regretted not having asked the founding father if he could taxidermy his body. He thought Franklin might have agreed, and then maybe George Washington might have also followed suit. But (maybe to our collective relief) what we do have, instead, as a tangible reminder of our first president are several collections of cuttings from his hair. In the days before photography, a lock of hair might be the only proof that a person had access to a notable man like Washington. After his death, some pseudoscientists used Washington's hair to "prove" the biological superiority of America's founders. Others used their clippings to prove that they, too, were there at America's founding. Now, in our digital age, are these kinds of physical relics and mementos still important? Guest: Keith Beutler, author of "George Washington's Hair: How Early Americans Remembered the Founders" and professor of history at Missouri Baptist University

Jayne also shares the one practice, above all else, that helps determine whether or not you're going to have a good day. Quotables from the episode: When we ask the Lord for His lens through which to view our situation, it changes our perspective and frames our day. We are told to put on the armor of God, and put on the garment of praise, but those are intentional choices we make to do what God has told us to do to fight our battles. A key to having a good day is not just to be in the word, but to saturate your life with God's word, actually believe what you are reading, and apply it to your everyday life. We are told that in this world we will experience trials. In order to have a good day despite the trials, we must take a pre-emptive approach and do what we can ahead of time to help foster a good day. When we have a cluttered environment, we also then tend to have a cluttered mind and a cluttered heart. By taking the time to clear your area of clutter the night before, you can awaken in a state of peace, and the clutter and chaos around you won't distract you from your quiet time with God. Think about the fact that the Creator of the Universe wants to spend time communicating with you personally. Are you going to deprive Him of that? Our homes should be a place of refuge and calm away from the stress and the chaos of the world. Scripture References: Psalm 118:24 “This is the day the Lord has made. She starts by sharing her own journey with the loss of two of her own pregnancies and her healing journey, but goes on to discuss the importance of talking what you have experienced with the people that have earned the right to that story.  Held by Hope is a ministry through Waypoint that walks with women who are struggling and provides not only support, but also resources for grieving for you and your spouse. Julie reminds us that shame and guilt are not truth when it comes to the grieving process and we have to combat those lies with the truth of the gospel and  its healing abilities. She talks through what are things that are helpful, but also talks through things that are not helpful to say to friends as they are struggling to understand what has happened. This episode is not only for women who are recovering from a miscarriage, but for everyone to be better equipped to support a loved one who has experienced the devastating loss of a pregnancy. This episode is part reunion and all encouraging! Sarah and Erin worked together at Missouri Baptist University nearly 15 years ago. After converting Erin to a coffee lover (it all started with a Caramel Macchiato!) Sarah discovered they share a love for all things Christmas. Instant friends! Several years ago, Erin left her midwest hometown to be part of a church plant in State College, Pennsylvania, where she now lives and works. She has since become a foster mom, and in this episode we hear how she heard God tell her to move to PA, her church planting experience, and how these led her to foster care today. As humans, we all have a deep desire to live meaningful lives. Finding and following the path for our life is essential to realizing meaningfulness. But, every person must seek out their own path. There are no formulas that a person can “plug-in” like an iPhone app and obtain a GPS guidance plan for their life. Instead, each person must seek out and discover how God has designed and equipped them to serve others and then seek God’s daily grace to live in service to others according to that design and equipping. Cordell Schulten is a professor of American law at Handong Global University in Pohang, Korea. He also holds an appointment as a Senior Lecturer in ethics, law, and religion at Fontbonne University in St. Louis, Missouri. Previous to his current posts, he taught at Missouri Baptist University. Before teaching, he practiced law for ten years specializing in commercial litigation and death penalty cases.  He earned his M.A. in Theological Studies from Covenant Theological Seminary in 2004 and his J.D. from Saint Louis University School of Law in 1986. Cordell and his wife Sandy have been married for 32 years. They have four grown children and four beautiful grand children.
