Recorded live at EmpireCon 2019 in Los Angeles, this episode of Conversations with Craig lifts the curtain on the unsung crew who brought the original Star Wars trilogy to life—Jawas, model-makers, second-unit directors, and yes, Yoda's actual right hand. From childhood desert shoots to Harrison Ford with a saw, this panel had it all. Jawa Justice League: Three OG Jawas—Tim Donaldson, Andrea Wickman, and Fraser Diamond—recall what it was really like filming in Death Valley, sweating through robes, carrying disassembled droids, and surviving desert wildlife. Ford v. Falcon: Second-unit director Harley Cokeliss reveals how a frustrated Harrison Ford nearly sawed a hole through the Millennium Falcon during a lighting delay. Puppets and Persistence: Mike Quinn, the man behind Nien Nunb and Yoda's right hand, explains how hanging around the set got him the job—and a footnote in Star Wars history. “Star Wars is kind of like the genie that just keeps granting wishes.” - Mike Quinn Want more exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes stories from the people who bring your favorite characters to life? We talk to Mike Quinn - Puppeteer, Actor, Director, Animator and Nien Nunb in the Star Wars Movies. Equipped with a relentless passion and drive, it was without doubt that the young Mike Quinn was always going to be a Puppeteer, there was nothing else he ever wanted to do. After showcasing his skills to the legendary Jim Henson it would set him on a path working on some of the most iconic movies of the 1980s and beyond. From The Muppet Movies, through Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal, Who Framed Roger Rabbit and most recently Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Mike Quinn has been and continues to be a invaluable asset to so many parts of movie magic. Welcome to Databank Brawl Rewind! Databank Brawl was a series that ran on ForceCenter from 2016 to 2020 and it remains one of our more beloved shows. Though Databank Brawl is on hiatus, we wanted to celebrate it along with the longtime listeners of the podcast and reintroduce it to the ForceCenter listeners who began listening to the podcast after the end of the show's run. Though all of the episodes remain on our podcast feed it can be daunting to scroll back and find them, so we're launching Databank Rewind. Here's your chance to go back to those episodes week-by-week and laugh with us at old jokes, memorable moments, unforgettable guests, and, yeah, old microphones, recordings, and perhaps some Star Wars predictions that came true alongside many that most certainly did not. Databank Brawl -- where Star Wars characters are plucked from the entries of the StarWars.com databank and forced to fight it out in an off-the-cuff podcast moderated by Joseph Scrimshaw. It's time to fight...From the minds of Ken Napzok (comedian, host of The Napzok Files), Joseph Scrimshaw (comedian, writer, host of the Obsessed podcast), and Jennifer Landa (actress, YouTuber, crafter, contributor on StarWars.com) comes the ForceCenter Podcast Feed. Not long after his vicious betrayal of the society and our abduction into the now-defunct cinema palace somewhere in that one flyover state, Verifier Andy personally tried to make up for his betrayal to me by arranging an interview with someone relevant to the conclave we'd just held: puppeteer extraordinaire, Mike Quinn. Best known for his portrayal of Nien Nunb in that one movie about the return of a space wizard and his trusty laser sword, Mr. Quinn is better known to us in the Cinemania Society as “the puppeteer who got the talking boil to do its thing in How to Get Ahead in Advertising,” which as you'll hear was a bit of a surprise to him. We're grateful to Mr. Quinn for his generosity, both of time and of spirit. Presented here for your listening pleasure is the complete and unedited interview with Mike Quinn.

This week brought us the fourth episode of 'Obi-Wan Kenobi,' and the premier episode of 'Ms. Marvel.' It was too much to discuss on our own, so thankfully Nien Nunb himself, Mike Quinn, joins us for this episode to break it all down. Mike is a veteran of the Star Wars universe and he shares some great insights about 'Star Wars,' and art in general. We hope you enjoy the podcast. This week Jacob visits with world-renowned puppeteer, Mike Quinn. In 1977, Mike regularly visited the set of The Muppet Show with his homemade puppets, eventually meeting Jim Henson. Through his visits, he learned more about puppeteering and received encouragement from Jim Henson and his co-workers. After leaving school in 1980, Quinn joined The Jim Henson Company and worked on the 1981 film The Great Muppet Caper puppeteering in crowd scenes and acting as a double for various main Muppet characters. Quinn later designed and built the Podlings for The Dark Crystal, where he also performed the Skeksis Slave Master SkekNa (who was voiced by David Buck). During the filming of Return of the Jedi, Quinn (and David Barclay and David Greenaway) were assistant puppeteers to Frank Oz in his performance of Yoda. He also performed the role of Nien Nunb in Return Of the Jedi. Between the late 1980s and early 1990s, Quinn joined with fellow puppeteer David Barclay, creating Ultimate Animates, a production company specializing in the new building and performing techniques for internal and external puppet productions. Quinn joined George Lucas's Industrial Light and Magic as an animator, first working on Jurassic Park III and then Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones. He reprised his role as Nien Nunb in Star Wars: The Force Awakens,[1] a role that he reprised again in Star Wars: The Last Jedi[2] and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and performed for the Disney theme park ride Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. In 2018, Mike Quinn provided the voice of the Stan Laurel-based character Agnes Packard in the Cartoon Network series, Mighty Magiswords opposing Ken Mitchroney voicing her Oliver Hardy-based husband Mr. Pachydermus in the episode "Pachydermus Packard and the Camp of Fantasy". Quinn appeared as a guest on The George Lucas Talk Show during their May the AR Be LI$$ You Arli$$ Marathon fundraiser. Real Conversations with Jacob Young is brought to you by Boys Town. Mike Quinn is the talent behind Nien Nunb in RETURN OF THE JEDI and the Sequel Trilogy. Mike joins us IN THE CANTINA to talk about his journey from The Muppets to STAR WARS and shares stories from his career, including memories from working with Billy Dee Williams, George Lucas and more. Speaking of The Muppets, recently Disney+ added THE MUPPET SHOW to its streaming service, including the STAR WARS episode from 1980 featuring Mark Hamill & Anthony Daniels. We look back at the famous episode and feature highlights. Disney head honcho Bob Chapek addressed a few controversial Star Wars topics during a recent investors conference call, including the Gina Carano situation and Kathleen Kennedy’s future with Lucasfilm. We hear what he said and offer our opinions. Plus, listener feedback opens up a fun conversation about The Battle of Endor and more!
Is Morpheus a "Magic Negro"? We talk about being made to witness black trauma around every turn. Keanu Reeves and wild dreams—all this week on Whatchu Wanna Know!
This week Nic and Eric are joined by puppeteer, animator, actor, director, producer, voice-over artist, puppet builder, and composer Mike Quinn. This week Mike talks about the 5-comic mini-series “Princess Leia” set seconds after the medal ceremony shown in A New Hope which follows Leia trying to find Alderaanian refugees after Alderaan was destroyed by the Death Star and it also shows how Nien Nunb entered the rebellion! The Princess Leia comics were written by Mark Waid, pencilled by Terry Dodson, inked by Rachel Dodson and is the colourist is Jordie Bellaire. Issue #1 was released in March 2015, issue #5 was released July 2015 and the paperback collection was out November 2015 while the 3-series collection “Heroes For A New Hope” featuring the Princess Leia, Lando & Chewbacca comics was released in November 2016. Last week Mike spoke about the main run of Star Wars comics set shortly after this comic and the Jedi Fallen Order prequel comic was the week before that. Previous episodes have been about how Obi-Wan & Anakin almost left the Jedi order, the Rogue One & Solo comics, planet Mon Cala, Krait & DJ from Last Jedi and Captain Phasma, Operation Cinder, how C-3PO got his red arm, Darth Maul beyond The Phantom Menace and for episode 1 The Rise Of Kylo Ren comic was talked about. The Saltimbocca Boys are back to tell the travails of adventures at Rhode Island Comic Con 2019! This isn’t your typical convention recap: we’re freaking out Nien Nunb, making bounty hunters smile, drinking pina coladas, smashing ribs and getting carded Kenners like it ain’t no thing. And then there’s the weird stuff, like getting a full diner breakfast delivered and predicting if rancors will show up in The Mandalorian. The Star Wars party starts NOW! It’s time for Brews and Blasters.
At this time each year the Regular Joes meet up for the biggest comic con in the smallest state. This time around they were joined by old and new friends Derryl DePriest and Brian Mix. in addition to the traditional recap they get the chance to chat with the men behind two fan favorite characters from the Star Wars universe, Tim Rose aka Admiral Akbar and Mike Quinn who has played Nien Nunb in four of the Skywalker saga films. Both are veteran performers with long histories including the Muppets. As usual a few of the shows other guests, including a Wookie and a famous movie mom, play through. So, pretty much business as usual for their impromptu hotel lobby talk show. Special thanks to superb guest hosts Brian and Derryl and, as always, thanks for listening!
EPISODE 8: Welcome to episode eight of The GALactic Podcast! In this episode, Andrea and Lauren discuss the underrated character! Bodhi Rook most important character? Hera Syndulla the best pilot? Mike is someone whose name you may not have heard of, but whose work you will definitely know. He is a puppeteer who worked under Jim Henson, performing characters on The Muppet Show, The Dark Crystal, Fraggle Rock, and Labyrinth. He was also one of Audrey 2's lip sync puppeteers on Little Shop Of Horrors, and brought life to Nien Nunb, an unusual looking character from Return Of The Jedi.... the man is a behind-the-scenes puppeteering god! Dreamchild is a superb but often overlooked film which Mike mentions in our chat. Please check it out here - https://amzn.to/2YnBxeh Spoken Intro by Duncan Newmarch Intro Music provided by Ben. In this Episode I get to speak with Puppeteering legend,Mike Quinn!! Mike was so unbelievably awesome to speak to and to hear all of his stories from his career thus far was so surreal. He speaks about how Puppeteeering came about for him and how his career came about working for Jim Henson as well as how his opportunity to play Nien Nunb, his character from Star Wars, came along for him also. It was so cool hearing stories from the set of Star Wars movies both old and new and just hearing all of his stories in general. I will sadly say there are audio issues with this episode. I was so hesitant to post this but I could not scrap something that took so long to accomplish and plus the faact is I still got to speak with this amazing person. I apologise and can promise that I will do my best to make sure this doesnt happen again. Thank you for your support and hope you enjoy and May the Force be with you!
We are joined by pop culture royalty this week as we welcome actor and puppeteer Mike Quinn to the show! Though Mike is best known for his portrayal of Nien Nunb in the Star Wars films, his work can also be seen in The Muppets, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Toy Story 2, Jurassic Park 3, and many other films. We talk with Mike about how he started working with puppets, how he came to work with Jim Henson and the Muppets, and his mark on the Star Wars movies. Having done CG work on Attack of the Clones, bringing to life many of the puppets in Return of the Jedi, and reprising Nien Nunb in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, you would be hard pressed to find anyone else who can give a more in-depth look at what happens behind the scenes on a Star Wars film. A must listen for any fan! secretsofpuppetry.com CannedAirPodcast.com @CannedAirPod @Canned_Air

Welcome back to the Neverland Podcast! Are you ready for some Star Wars fun Neverlanders? This week we welcome Mike Quinn, puppeteer, puppet builder, animator, and all around creative force! Not only has Mike worked with the Muppets, but he did some awesome work with the Jim Henson company in films like The Dark Crystal and Labrynth!! And despite the common error many Star Wars fans make, Mike Quinn is the puppeteer behind Nien Nunb in Return of the Jedi, though many make the mistake thinking that Richard Bonehill was the puppeteer. In truth, the now deceased Mr. Bonehill was an extra that wore the full suit Nien (or Ten) Nunb before George Lucas plucked the background character out of obscurity and Mike Quinn created a puppet to sit with Lando in the cockpit of the Millenium Falcon! Mike will tell us all about it on this week's show! -editors note Richard Bonehill did sell autographed photos of the puppet, but that wasn't Mr. Bonehill. He also performed Ree-Yees, Sy Snootles, assisted with Yoda, Admiral Ackbar and Jabba's electronic eyes. This week we are celebrating the Holidays and Star Wars by chatting with the amazingly talented Nien Nunb...... Uh, Mike Quinn..... Mike started performing at young age with a professional magic act at the age of 8 and a puppet show that ended in a pie fight at aged 9! After becoming fascinated by "The Muppet Show", he knew that was the future for puppetry. He first met Jim Henson and his puppeteers as a fan in 1977, later visiting the set of "The Muppet Show" bringing along home made Muppet style puppets on a regular basis and learning and receiving much encouragement.Upon leaving school he directly landed his first job as a Muppeteer in 1980 on The Great Muppet Caper filling in on crowd scenes and doubling up for main characters. This directly led to building Podlings and Slaves for The Dark Crystal and then actually performing the Slavemaster Skeksis for the film. This was a really fun chat about Mike's work both as a Muppet and as an animator at Pixar.

Were talking giveaways, contests, parody cardbacks and how you get tickets and when they go on sale. Coins? Patches? Pins? Custom 4-Ups? How can you be one of the 25 SUPREME MASTERS? Listen and find out. Then we get Derek Ho on line from the future in Singapore for a World Tour and we discus collecting the Imperial Commander and a little on the history of collecting proof cards post 2002 with tales of Tom Niehiesal's famous sales list and the huge Colpar Blowout of 2005, we have a sad lost nugget and have a spirited round of the Market Watch game. Plus, did someone say B-B-Bonus interview with Thorsten Lafos? I did! And, the less said about Skye's new song the better. 'Chive Cast 58, check it out!
