They talk album covers, super producers Ron Nevison and Bob Ezrin respective roles, songwriting and lyrics, and the importance of Bruce Kulick to the band at this point in time. They discuss the songwriting chemistry between Paul Stanley and Desmond Child, how Diane Warren contributed to KISS, the drumming prowess of both Eric Carr and Eric Singer, and why some of the songs weren't bigger radio hits for the band. They remember the Crazy Nights Tour, Gene Simmons return for “Revenge,” and some of their favorite music videos from both albums. With over 30 years of experience in music, it has been his passion since his early teens as a guitar player/bassist & singer in High School, and shortly after while travelling and performing in a variety of very popular cover bands throughout the mid-to-late 90's in both Ontario and the United States in well known local high-energy acts such as “Heads Or Tales” and “Shake The Tree”, as well as the band “U.S”. Then later formed his own Classic-Melodic Rock influenced band “Tycoons”, releasing two independent recordings and performing throughout Eastern Ontario, Northern NY State, and Quebec in the early 2000's. Episode 33: Crazy Nights (35th Anniversary)KISS released their 21st album on September 21st 1987. Paul and Gene worked with the hot producer at the time Ron Nevison for the next chapter of the band. Crazy Night would bring a pop/rock/metal sound for this album. More akin to 1980's Unmasked album but with a heavy keyboard presence.  Speaking of presence, Gene's was almost nonexistent. Gene was spending more time in Hollywood leaving the reigns to Paul and Ron. Eric Carr and Bruce Kulick delivered more on this album with Gene's on again off schedule. The result, a Platinum album for the band  and one that was on heavy rotation at MTV. On this episode Nick, Nikko & Rob look back at the album and review song by song, plus they pick their 9 as usual. How about we go back to 1987, push play on the cassette deck and as Paul would say "if life is a radio, turn it up to 10!"  Let's celebrate 35 years of Crazy Night!Links:                We are on all podcast platforms and over at our host sitehttps://right-between-the-eyes-podcast.simplecast.com/Twitter @RBTEpodcast https://twitter.com/RBTEpodcast                      @NCarusoJr https://twitter.com/NCarusoJr                       @NikkoCaruso https://twitter.com/NikkoCaruso             @DrummerRob10 https://twitter.com/DrummerRob10                www.facebook.com/RightBetweenTheEyesPodcast                https://www.instagram.com/rightbetweentheeyespodcast/                email: rightbetweentheeyespodcast@gmail.com

This week Tom & Zeus review the 14th studio album from KISS, the 1987 keyboard heavy, "Crazy Nights." The album went platinum and was the highest charting KISS album in the 1980's landing at number 18 on the US Billboard charts. This is the 2nd album featuring the lineup of Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Eric Carr and Bruce Kulick. Although Kiss was not as popular as they were in the 1970's, this new non-makeup version was keeping pace with current hard rock trends. Crazy Nights had two of three singles chart and the three videos for the singles all were on heavy rotation on MTV. The album has received a lot of negative feedback from the KISS Army due to the abundance of keyboards and synthesizers. KISS brought in the highly sought Ron Nevison to produce the album. The band hoped Nevison's recent success would translate to KISS. Many of KISS' favorite outside songwriters returned as well, like Desmond Child, Diane Warren, Mitch Weissman and SIOL favorite, Adam Mitchell. As usual the guys breakdown and analyze the tracks and rank the songs SIOL style. As always they then rank the album and the album cover against the previous KISS studio albums reviewed. The album has received a lot of negative feedback from the KISS Army due to the abundance of keyboards and synthesizers.KISS brought in the highly sought Ron Nevison to produce the album. So comb your Paul Stanley chest hair and grab your Paul Stanley thong and let's Turn On The Night! For all things Shout It Out Loudcast check out our amazing website by clicking below: www.ShoutItOutLoudcast.com Interested in more Shout It Out Loudcast content? Care to help us out? Come join us on Patreon by clicking below:SIOL PatreonShop At Our Amazon Store Shout It Out Loudcast Amazon Store Please go to Klick Tee Shop for all your Shout It Out Loudcast Merchandise by clicking below:SIOL Merchandise at Klick Tee Shop Please Email us comments or suggestions by clicking below:ShoutItOutLoudcast@Gmail.com Please subscribe to us and give us a 5 Star (Child) review on the following places below:iTunesPodchaserStitcheriHeart RadioSpotify  Please follow us and like our social media pages clicking below:TwitterFacebook PageFacebook Group Page Shout It Out LoudcastersInstagramYouTube Please check out our sponsor FusionTech Data & Electric for all your data and electrical needs by clicking below:FusionTech Data And Electric Proud Member of the Pantheon Podcast click below to see the website:Pantheon Podcast Network

We love Tamar Berk — and now you're going to love her, too. Tamar came up in the ‘90s Chicago scene with her band Starball, but her finest work would have to be the pair of excellent solo records she released in 2021 and ‘22. On this episode we try to figure out how that happened. We also talk about mean scenes, moving to (and moving out of)Portland, Matt Walker, finding your voice, Rush, being in a family of functioning musicians, The Countdown, her daughter's band The Inflorescence, working with Ron Nevison, “Athena” vs. “Eminence Front”, Steve Malkmus, the things kids say these days, and (unfortunately) Gary Coleman comes up again.

Platan Carnival of souls; The Final Sessions kom svo ekki út fyrr en í lok október 1997 og þá reyndar eingöngu vegna þess að henni hafði verið lekið á hið nýja internet. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

One could argue that producer Beau Hill is the architect of the sound of 80s Hair Metal. Just as his nascent producing career is getting started, Ratt hit the jackpot with Out of the Cellar and "Round and Round" and from there he (along with Bob Rock and Ron Nevison) becomes THE go-to-guy for that sound. That leads to huge commercial success with bands like Warrant, Winger, Twisted Sister, Europe and Alice Cooper (not to mention fantastic bands that didn't take off like Airrace, Sandy Stewart, Streets, Fiona, and Fast Forward). We hear about all of it including the stories behind "Cherry Pie" and "Seventeen" and how they affected Jani and Kip, his early career bands like Shanghai and Airborne, and what he does today. There is a common misconception about KISS, one of the greatest hard-rock/heavy metal-bands of all-time: that their ‘non-makeup' era of 1983-1996 is not as enduring as the period when they stalked stages as the Starchild, the Demon, the Spaceman, and the Cat. This is untrue. In fact, this period helped resuscitate KISS's career, as they reestablished themselves in arenas, on the charts, and via MTV, and yielded some of their most popular songs – including "Lick It Up", "Heaven's On Fire", "Tears Are Falling", "Crazy Crazy Nights", "Hide Your Heart", "Forever", "Unholy" and more – many of which consistently found their way into the band's set lists. While the majority of KISS books are focused on the glitz and glamour of the iconic makeup era, the non-makeup years are ripe to be explored in book form, and "Take It Off" does just that, zeroing in on the eleven albums KISS issued during this period – including such gold- and platinum-certified hits as 'Lick It Up', 'Animalize', 'Revenge', and 'Alive III' – as well the resulting tours, videos, and other escapades."Take It Off" draws on all-new interviews with KISS experts and associates, including the band's lead guitarist throughout most of this period, Bruce Kulick, plus 'Crazy Nights' producer Ron Nevison and video director Paul Rachman ("Unholy" / "I Just Wanna" / "Domino"). Among the other contributors are Charlie Benante (Anthrax), K.K. Downing (ex-Judas Priest), Derek Sherinian (ex-Dream Theater), and rock music experts Eddie Trunk, Katherine Turman, and Lonn Friend. The book also includes a foreword by Fozzy frontman Chris Jericho and an afterword by acclaimed producer Andreas Carlsson, as well as rare photographs and memorabilia from the period.Greg Prato is a writer and journalist from Long Island, New York, whose writing has appeared in such renowned publications as Rolling Stone, Classic Rock, and Vintage Guitar. He is also the author of several popular books, including "Shredders! The Oral History Of Speed Guitar (And More)", "Grunge Is Dead: The Oral History Of Seattle Rock Music", and "The Eric Carr Story". And you may even have heard him on one of his many radio or TV appearances, which include interviews on The Howard Stern Wrap-Up Show, Eddie Trunk Live, and The Ron & Fez Show.PROGRAMMING NOTE: This interview with Greg was originally recorded in February of 2020 for the podcast DISCovery with Eric Senich.Purchase a copy of "Take It Off: KISS Truly Unmasked" through Jawbone Press: http://jawbonepress.com/take-it-offSongs Discussed In This Episode: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4iAxwaGzws3sZFqjTz21l2?si=a23ff3f906dc4766The Booked On Rock Website: https://www.bookedonrock.comFollow The Booked On Rock with Eric Senich:FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/bookedonrockpodcastTWITTER: https://twitter.com/bookedonrockContact The Booked On Rock Podcast:thebookedonrockpodcast@gmail.comSupport Your Local Bookstore! MTS Management Group has been brought in to promote the single release. "I've known Cory for several years, and it's been a real pleasure watching his career develop," said Michael Stover, President of MTS. "Cory has a real gift for melody and the ability to deliver a message to his listeners, in a way that doesn't knock them over the head. We're really looking forward to finally getting to work with him." Cory's eclectic influences include a collection of genres like Melodic Rock and Roots-Rock, blended with hints of Country-Rock. Episode 61 - Toby Wright

Sometimes, things are better the second time around. Such was the case in the circumstances that led up to the making of this episode. Multi-platinum, award-winning producer/engineer Toby Wright has worked on so many amazing landmark rock and metal albums that a cursory glance of his discography is staggering. For Chris & Aaron, Toby literally helped build the soundtrack of their lives. So, it was no surprise that upon learning about his move to Nashville in 2011 that he was added to the Decibel Geek interview wish list. We're very proud this week to present to you our in-depth and engaging conversation with Toby Wright that touches on many notable albums from throughout his career. What you are hearing today is take 2. The reason for this is explained the  opening of the show. After everything we went through to bring this episode to you, we think you'll agree that Toby Wright is truly a great sport when it comes to being interviewed. Jar of Flies, the acoustic-based 1994 EP from Alice in Chains, was a pivotal release for the "Grunge" era as it proved that there was more to this new genre from the Pacific Northwest than overdriven, sludgy guitars and doom & gloom vocals. Toby Wright's involvement in this album, as well as its creation, was a very organic thing. In this discussion you will hear Toby's memories of how all parties involved went from zero preparation to writing, producing, and mixing a full EP in just 10 days. Jar of Flies has since gone on to sell over 4 million copies and remains one of the most relevant releases of the early 1990's. While not all of our listeners prefer the mid to late 1990's genre loosely known as nu-metal, there's no denying its impact on the ever-shifting tides of what's popular in the musical world. Toby Wright was right in the middle of this, love-it-or-hate-it, groundbreaking new style with his work with bands like Sevendust (Home, 1999) and Korn on their massively successful 1998 release Follow the Leader. Wright remembers being aware of what he wanted to do with Korn's sound right away. "Personally, I thought that the sound was a little sloppy. I was looking to make it bigger and fatter." Raising Korn's production level with a thicker, deeper sound, Wright's work paid huge dividends and Follow the Leader caused Korn to explode in popularity as it has gone on to sell over 14 millions copies. Some projects that Toby Wright was involved in have had some controversy from fan circles over the years and in this long-form discussion, you will get his take on some long-running rumors and speculation. In 2005, Ozzy Osbourne's camp released the Prince of Darkness box set. This package was intended to be all-encompassing of Osbourne's career and included studio tracks, live tracks, b-sides, demos, duets, and cover songs. Toby Wright was brought in to produce the new material for the box set. In this discussion, Wright remembers back on Ozzy's displeasure over the speed at which the basic tracks were prepared and the encounter with Sharon Osbourne that led to his dismissal from the project. Slayer's 1994 Divine Intervention album is discussed in this interview with Wright reflecting on Tom Araya's thought process in the lyrical composition as well as the painstaking process of mixing the album numerous times to make Slayer and American Records owner Rick Rubin happy.  One longstanding question among Metallica fans is in regards to the bass sound, or absence thereof, on the ...And Justice for All album in 1988. Rumors have abounded over the years that then-new bass player Jason Newsted was enduring a rough hazing by guitarist James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich as the reason for the burying of Newsted's bass tracks. Toby sets the record straight on this rumor and also looks back on the grueling hours spent as an engineer on this album perfecting Ulrich's drum parts; "We actually walked out of the studio with about 45 seconds worth of recorded music per day. 6 months to do drums, my friend." We finish things off with a heavy discussion of two KISS albums that Wright was involved in; the polarizing Crazy Nights (as an engineer) and Carnival of Sous (as producer).  Crazy Nights, released in 1987, seemed to be the apex of Paul Stanley and co. chasing trends. Featuring pop-friendly hooks and over-the-top guitar acrobatics from lead guitarist Bruce Kulick, Crazy Nights was a bold attempt to take KISS back to the forefront of the musical mainstream. With slick production, catchy songwriting, and top-notch production courtesy of Wright's engineering and Ron Nevison's production; the album had all of the ingredients needed to be a hit. But, alas, it wasn't meant to be as KISS had a hard time shaking their previous reputation as an old arena act and longtime fans of the band were turned off by the slick sound of the album. In this interview, Wright recalls his time working on the album, his history with Ron Nevison (over 25 albums together) and fondly remembers his brief time working with the late Eric Carr; "He was just an amazing dude. I remember laughing quite hard in the studio a few times." Finishing off the interview is an in-depth discussion of the 1997-released (but 1995-recorded) Carnival of Souls album. This album will always be somewhat of an anomaly in the KISS canon due to the circumstances in which it was made. Recorded as the follow-up to the critically successful Revenge album from 1992, Carnival of Souls featured KISS going a much darker route. In this conversation, Toby Wright shares his memories of making this album, its material, his take on the fans' opinions of it as well as Paul Stanley's not-so-kind words on it. Wright was also present in the studio the day that the final offer for KISS to reunite came through and shares his memory of Gene Simmons breaking the news to Bruce Kulick and drummer Eric Singer and their reactions.  Before we go, we get a quick take on Toby Wright's attitudes and opinions about the music industry today, what he thinks of the do-it-yourself state of recording, what he looks for in a band, and details about current and future projects. Keep up with Toby at www.tobywrightmusic.com There's so many more questions that we have for Toby Wright and hope to have in on for a second interview in the future as we really enjoying speaking with him. We hope you enjoy listening. Rock on and...... Buy Music!
