He began investing a decade ago with a focus on rentals and wholesaling, gradually building a wholesaling business. Michael and his family relocated to Hawaii when he realized that his business could function without his constant presence. He emphasizes the importance of reevaluating life and business goals, steering away from conventional expectations, and crafting a lifestyle that aligns with personal aspirations.Brian and Michael discuss the significance of fostering a good team dynamic, emphasizing constructive feedback, and the need for trust in delegation. They touch upon different leadership roles, distinguishing between a true operator, who is operations-driven, and the evolving roles of CEOs and COOs.Brian reflects on the misconception that everyone desires entrepreneurship, realizing that many individuals seek stability in a 9-5 job. Being an entrepreneur involves risk, stress, and constant challenges, and not everyone is comfortable with the uncertainty. When it comes to hiring, they stress the importance of finding niche team members who are passionate about their specific roles, such as marketing or sales.Michael initially adopted the Dave Ramsey approach, avoiding debt and focusing on wholesaling due to its lower risk. Brian attributes his success to consistent hard work, focusing on small wins and incremental progress. Both Michael and Brian highlight the significance of setting and achieving small goals, which gradually build confidence to tackle more significant challenges. The conversation veers into their shared appreciation for spending time with their children and exploring alternative education methods like homeschooling. They discuss how entrepreneurship allows for more flexibility in structuring family life.Brian shares insights into his Puerto Rico home, where a close-knit community fosters relationships, but he acknowledges the trade-offs regarding limited opportunities.Michael elaborates on his business organization, highlighting a healthy margin of around 50% for his wholesale operation. He attributes much of their success to lead generation through texting and cold calling.Connect with Michael FitzGerald on Instagram @mfitty.

Michael wraps up the 5th season of the podcast with some thoughts around the condition of DEI education in the United States today. He tells of how the pandemic and current political state of affairs has affected his business and that of others attempting to teach and speak out about identity. Key Takeaways In 2020 former president Donald Trump labeled any and all discussions of race, slavery or racism as CRT (critical race theory) and subsequently banned them from schools. This is still affecting DEI training and race conversations today. The floodgates opened after the supreme court struck down affirmative action. Edward Blum is the anti-affirmative action warrior who is filing suits to stop organizations from offering opportunities to historically marginalized groups. Volatile reactions to diversity and inclusion hurt everyone. We're all on the same team. __ If you want to support INCOGNITO the podcast, here are some things you can do: Rate and review the podcast! Oftentimes, in hiring processes, companies have a sense of leverage over prospective candidates. However, with Levels, this isn't the path that we take – we don't want to sell candidates, and we don't want candidates to sell us. When bringing new team members onboard, the process is transparent. We don't trick people with challenges: "Here's a hard question, go and solve it." Rather, we give people the opportunity to document things, find areas where they can offer insight into what we're doing, and pick things apart. In this episode, Michael Mizrahi, Head of Operations, and Andrew Conner, Head of Engineering and one of the Co-Founders of Levels, sat down and talked about the process of building our team and onboarding new team members. On this week's episode of Marvelous Geeks, Morgan and I are back to discuss the act of shipping and civil discourse when you don't agree with another one's choice. The conversation features different ships from shows like One Tree Hill, Jane the Virgin, Harry Potter, and more. We discuss what it means to be a fan and distinguishing between something that isn't written well vs. something that doesn't resonate with us. And finally, we discuss just how much we dislike fictional deaths done solely for shock value. Originally recorded on January 2018. Tara and Anna discuss why one is Team Michael and the other Team Raphael, why someone would want and not want to change their last name, religion, tattoos and so much more all because of the CW's clever and sweet tv show, Jane The Virgin.

If you wrote a review on iTunes for our podcast: THANK YOU! The contest is officially over, but we still appreciate all that you did for us. SHOWNOTESWe covered a little bit of everything from the viewpoint of everyone's favorite only black friend, Greg! First Greg starts us off slow by asserting that Traddies are frustrated whites who want a Euro-centric mass that was perfectly fine till those other people showed up and started worshipping! Then we talk the travails of Franciscan University (DRINK!). Then we walk through a list of First Ladies we think are attractive (answer: Barbara Bush), but this was only a side note.Greg then tells us his fool proof way to get people back into Church: care about the liturgy. I guess one slogan could be, "Make Mass Badass Again". Finally, we get into the Trump. This is over a month before last week's rolling disaster that was the RNC (Scott Baio?!), but Greg wants to give us a measured take on the man and those who vote for him. We even talk about the way black are allowed to be racist vs. Azealia Banks' racism.Andrew Sullivan's Article: America Has Never Been More Ripe for TyrannyFinally we talk about A Comedian's Truth, Cynicism, and the danger of the Bubbles we create.SPONSORSpecial thanks to CatholicBalm.co for their continued sponsorship! Originally recorded on July 05, 2016Overcome with amazement, we talk Game of Thrones. The Season Six final two episodes were a phenomenal ending to a season. Probably the best ending to any season of any TV show ever. (looking at you, Lost.)We discuss the revelation of fan theories being confirmed (R+L=J), Gomer postulates that the White Walkers will actually win because George R. R. Martin hates us that much, how season six is the rise of the Ladies (Sansa, Cercei, the Sand Snakes, the Unburnt and her dragons, the Queen of the Iron Isles), and how Jamie Lannister will go west, young man, like Michael W Smith.(Game of Throne Theme song is copyright of HBO. Thanks, fair use!)Special Thanks to CatholicBalm.co for sponsoring this episode! First, Luke apologizes. Second, we start talking about expectations. Third, we stop talking about that other stuff and only talk about MeWithoutYou, the greatest band of all time. Luke and I get caught up after Luke's stroke, we talk about some fun stuff, then we do our first ad read for a product that we love and currently use, Barbatus Beard Balm from CatholicBalm.co. After the silliness and the product placement, we dive into the Stanford Sexual Assault case with Brock Turner, who is from Luke's home town of Oakwood, Ohio.I have added two news reports throughout the conversation. One is from NBC news recounting some of the sexual assault and the other is from CNN News anchor Ashleigh Banfield as she read the entire 13 page victim statement to Brock Turner. We excerpted it to the relevant parts of the show because it hits like a bomb.
