Jamison Isaak is a musician. You may know him by his stage name, Teen Daze, a Canadian electronic act from Vancouver.  I met Jamison at Oliver Shaw's Friend Editions storefront for the release of Chris Black's collaborative zine with Friend Editions just before him and friend and guest of the show, Jason Stewart of How Long Gone had their live show at Webster Hall. Jamison played Black Flamingo and Public Records that weekend, two of my favorite clubs and bars I frequently haunt in Brooklyn. Jamison started off the year strong by winning best electronic album of the year at the Juno Awards for his album, Interior. We all have Teen Daze saved in our playlists. I know I do. This set includes two tribute songs to Irene Cara: "What A Feeling" by Mor Avrahami and Ran Ziv featuring Ilor Bar, and "Fame" by Black Flamingo and Mar Shine featuring Choir+. The updated versions of these classics with new vocals are outstanding and pay homage to the originals. Many of you may remember the excellent rework of "Fame" by DJ Bill Bennett and Suzanne Palmer back in the day and recently featured on The Ultimate Gay Anthems & Pride Classics volume 4. These updated versions with new vocals are stellar and do the original justice. Miss Cara would be honored. The legendary Suzanne Palmer has also featured in the Tony Moran and Guy Scheiman collaboration of "Praise Up" with various remixes to suit all tastes making it the ultimate circuit anthem. Debby Holiday, another favorite of Party Favorz, has a new remix by Dirty Disco and Matt Consola of her remake of the Soul and Disco classic "I Can't Stand the Rain" and a blazing remix of "Love & Peace." Party Favorz believes that Miss Holiday and Miss Palmer deserve an induction into the Diva Hall of Fame due to their contributions to the gay community, which can't be overstated. Still, these are big circuit anthems from a diva with a huge voice that shouldn't go unnoticed. Additionally, Disco Queen Carol Jiani returns with Sammy X on the super gay "I'm A Diva Baby," and Miley Cyrus, Sam Smith, and P!nk's latest hits are included with Dirty Disco and Zambianco doing remix honors. While Party Favorz maintains a big tribal house sound throughout the set, plenty of progressive sounds and mainstream songs are Tea Dance tracks included to mix things up making for the ultimate circuit anthems of spring. Finally, Party Favorz asks for your support to sustain our current level of growth. Though streaming and downloading are not dependent on your donation, we greatly appreciate any contributions to support our efforts to bring you the latest from the world of dance. You can donate here: https://partyfavorz.com/donate. I'll be back next week with a fresh new Disco House set. Until then...ENJOY! Welcome welcome!   This week's News is surprisingly positive, and I'll take it! Adding in a bit about the fantastic Lee Pace's marriage announcement, this week the news focuses on confirmation of Matt Reeves' Batman future, the latest on the Red Sonja movie, and last week's super-fun Wednesday Trailer! Also, House of the Dragon ep.1 premiered Sunday on HBO, which is briefly discussed here, but jury is still out barfing in the bathroom after that unnecessarily Saw-like sequence...   This week's comic book Picks 0:20:54 are from the week of Wednesday the 17th. My picks of the week are (in more or less order) Flavor Girls #2 (LOOOVE), Seven Sons #3, Daredevil #2, New Mutants 28, and Strange #5, among others.  Meanwhile, this week's comic book Pulls 0:35:33 include the return of Damage Control, Caitlin Yarsky on the Olympus: Rebirth one-shot, Chip Zdarsky's Public Domain #3, Sins of the Black Flamingo #3, Grim #4, and more! Once again, we truly are in a Golden Era of Indie Comics.   The latest from the Harley Quinn Show's Ep 6 45:03, titled Joker: The Killing Vote, has a brief section talking easter eggs and Killing Joke references, but the main event comes at the end:   She-Hulk: Attorney at Law 48:38 episode 1 coverage! Including summary of events, theories, comic references, speculation, and more! ALSO: Be sure to check out the August Yancy Street Special podcast: The She-Hulk Companion! Covering 42 years of Jennifer Walters history, everything I could possibly research and report! The episode is posted right after this one, linked here: https://www.podbean.com/media/share/pb-4zduc-12a7910    That's it this week! Until next time, my message for you this week is that you can be critical of a system that you're also forced to take part in. Better late than never! When life gives you lemons, make a podcast, just later than usual.  For this week's News, we talk Belle (which is on HBO Max), Paper Girls (on Amazon), and the Sandman (on Netflix), all of which a re new premiers in the past week or so! I found a cop; thread on Namor's MCU costume design on Twitter so we go over that goodness, then some brief DCEU project updates (which may change again soon for all we know), Marvel's Fantastic Four plans, the latest She-Hulk featurette, and the exciting new Andor trailer!  The past week's comic book Picks (34:13) start with my VERY mixed feelings for Strange #4, but then VERY positive for the #2's of Public Doman, the Variants, and Sins of the Black Flamingo, plus Christopher Priest's Vampirella: Year One #1. Subsequently, this week's comic book Pulls (47:05) feature a LOT of new things, which is super exciting, and a few ongoing classics. Again, these are just a cross section of weekly Wednesday releases, so check out your local comic shop to see what else comes out that I don't discuss! Finally, we end with the Harley Quinn season 3 Premier (59:11), covering the first three episodes: Harlivy, There's No Ivy in Team, and the 83rd Annual Villy Awards! It's good to have this one back, and we'll be continuing to cover it as the show goes on each week! Harvey Guillen's Nightwing has already gone down as absolutely legendary, I loved it! I'll be back the week of Monday the 8th to cover the new week of comic picks and pulls, episode 4 of the Harley Quinn show, and all this crazy Warner/Discovery....stuff, which is still unfolding. Have a nice week, stay hydrated, and enjoy comics! Here's a big episode for everyone! A lot is going on in Florida Craft, so we are back with an extra-awesome episode of the Florida Beer Podcast! We start in Miami at Beat Culture Brewing not talking about beer at all! The Beat Culture team has been blowing up the Magic City with, of all things, mead! We spoke to co-owner Alan Espinosa about their history making meads, the styles they love to make, and some of the interesting legal differences between mead and beer in the Sunshine State. Next, we go north to Black Flamingo Brewing. Owner/brewer Manny Jannes has been on the South Florida beer scene for years, bringing his family culture and South Florida's Hispanic influences to his beers. We sat down to understand those cultural influences, and how South Florida is uniquely suited to bring a new insight and a much-needed change to a very homogenous industry. Finally, we end in the Grand Central district of St. Petersburg, FL. and Grand Central Brewhouse, the newest brewery to open in this fast-growing hub of Florida beer. We are getting the full lowdown from Founder and CEO Kevin Milkey as to the history of the location, the decision to open in St. Pete, and the growing influence of the district.
