We're trying something a little different this week. We've just finished back-to-back episodes with Dr. Marcy Caldwell talking about ADHD & Anxiety, and we thought that it would be good to revisit some of the things in those episodes that resonated with us as neurodivergents. Joining us is Jaye Lin, an ADHD coach, educator, speaker, and podcaster based in the Seattle area. Like many of us, she too has dealt with anxiety. In fact, before her ADHD diagnosis, she was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Panic Disorder. Also joining the show is Phil Rodemann, the show's Coordinating Producer, who also has dealt with anxiety many years longer than his ADHD.   Jaye Lin was the first and only ADHD-trained peer coach at Google, where she also co-founded and co-led the ADHD-Women@Google ERG. She received her coaching training from ADDCA and an e-Learning Instructional Design graduate certificate from the University of Washington. She also has a BS in Hospitality Management from San Jose State University, along with a culinary diploma from the Professional Culinary Institute, and is currently writing a cookbook for those with ADHD.   Resources mentioned in the podcast: Website: The Monoceros Initiative  Book: “The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom” by Don Miguel Ruiz Jaye's Podcast: Now Presenting: ADHD   Add us on Social Media!   Instagram: @lindsayguentzel @refocusedpod @adhdonline Twitter: @lindsayguentzel @refocusedpod @adhdonline   Email the show: hello@refocusedpod.com   We appreciate you taking the time to listen! Fascinating Insights Into the Production of Automotive TV Shows With Tom Diaz, Coordinating Producer at Bright Bay Creative

Tom Diaz is the Coordinating Producer at Bright Bay Creative, where he contributes to the production of Netflix automotive TV shows. His first experience in the automotive industry was as a co-owner of a muffler shop in 1992. Despite not knowing what a muffler or catalytic converter were — or how to run a business — Tom's passion for cars helped him to learn quickly. He found his muffler-related niche in import racing, and mufflers from his shop were routinely featured on the cover of Super Street, an import magazine. He then opened an auto accessory store which laid the path toward helping with the sponsorship of a TV show.  In this episode… Were you a fan of the show Pimp My Ride? It aired on MTV for six seasons from 2004 to 2007. Did you notice the difference between seasons 1-4 and seasons 5-6? According to Tom Diaz, who was part of the show's production team, the show started to go downhill in its fifth season. At that point, he says everything on the show was fake — fake stuff, fake owners, fake cars, and a fake cast. Are you curious about the behind-the-scenes craziness involved with producing that show? On this episode of Gain Traction, Neal Maier and Matthew Peters are joined by Tom to talk about the making of Pimp My Ride. Tom shares how he broke into the automotive industry and how his journey led him to television production. He explains how he got involved with Pimp My Ride and his experience helping with the show's production. Tom tells an emotional story about how the owner of Strada Wheels helped him solidify his current role in TV production. Don't miss this fascinating conversation! Here's a glimpse of what you'll learn:  Tom Diaz talks about his background and how he got involved in TV production Why people working on automotive television shows were often not happy with Tom  Tom gets emotional as he shares how his friend helped him start working with Bright Bay Creative Which tires has Tom been particularly fond of over the years? What are the most exciting things about producing shows like Pimp My Ride? It's the first name listed over the nighttime city shots when the "Went to a Bartender" closing theme begins. Picturing it in your head? Max was working for WKRP from before the beginning. He was an MTM "runner/gopher" on the production while casting was happening. He was production associate in the first season, Associate Producer in Seasons 2 and 3, then Coordinating Producer in the 4th Season. He was there for all 88 episodes...all the way through to "Up and Down the Dial." Only Hugh Wilson has his name in the credits of WKRP more times than Max Tash. Max was kept pretty busy with production duties, but during his tenure with WKRP, he did write a single episode. Max came up with the much-loved "Clean Up Radio Everywhere" episode featuring Dr. Bob Halyer (Hallier? Halyers?), the Jerry Falwell-like preacher who is ready to clean up Cincinnati radio.Max has been a friend of the podcast since our first few weeks. Via e-mail, he's supplied us with some great details as we've been working our way through the episodes. Max was happy to answer e-mail questions but, although we've asked a few times, Max has never agreed to speak with us for an interview.  When we told him we just HAD to have his comments about "CURE" he said, "oh, okay."So get ready fellow babies...Heeeeere's Max!  We talked to Max for more than an hour...and barely scratched the surface of the millions of stories he has tucked away. He is a wealth of knowledge about the show, about Hugh Wilson...about everything WKRP! We hope we can talk Max into another session with us at the end of the series. Either way, here is the incredible Max Tash, with information about "CURE", "The Famous Teddy Z", "Frank's Place", The Pussy Cat Theater (!) and a WHOLE lot more. The WKRP-Cast is headed to Cincinnati!!We've been wanting to go for a long time, but schedules just have not allowed it. We are finally able to visit the Queen City and we're doing it during one of the most incredible weeks of Cinci's year! We'll be there from March 29th through April 3rd of 2022. Opening Day is March 31st AND WE'VE GOT TICKETS!! (if, of course, there's baseball...)If you'd like to join us, check our FB Page for Event Details.

Like many of us, Eva grew up doing theater.  She attended musical theater camp and loved Broadway musicals. While a true passion, Eva chose to pursue a career in politics. She began by working for the Gore campaign during the infamous 2000 presentational election. She then transitioned to journalism, spending five years with ABC News as an Assignment Editor and Coordinating Producer, where she covered 9/11, the Iraq War, the 2004 Presidential Election, the death of Pope John Paul II, amongst others. En route towards a successful lifetime career in news, Eva made the decision to follow her original, true passion. In 2005, she left her job at ABC News to pursue a life in the theater, as a producer. The decision to leave a steady job and start from scratch in a famously cutthroat industry was not an easy one. But it certainly paid off. Eva has amassed over 18 Broadway credits and three Tony Awards. And, last year, she had four Broadway shows running simultaneously at one point. Her success can, of course, be attributed to her hard work and tenacity, but also to returning to her first love, building on the passion generated from her formative experiences in the theater—her first shows. On each episode of My First Show, Eva speaks with a different luminary from the entertainment industry, framing the discussion around four questions: What was the first show you saw? What was the first show you were in? What was your first professional show? If you could be in any show, anywhere, at any time, what would it be? Through a lively and personal conversation, Eva explores each guest’s formative experiences, how ambitions became reality and what dream roles still remain. Part of the Broadway Podcast Network. Since 2002, a major organization in Stratford-upon-Avon, the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, has supported an archaeological dig on the former grounds of a house called “New Place.” New Place was one of the biggest houses in Stratford when Shakespeare was a boy. Once he became a wealthy and famous playwright, he bought it. When he wasn’t in London, he lived there with his family until his death, 19 years later, in 1616. The dig has revealed some tantalizing clues about how the Shakespeare family lived their lives – what they ate, how they cooked what they ate, and – as you’ll hear – how they worked and played. Kevin Colls is Archaeological Project Manager at the Centre of Archaeology at Staffordshire University in Stoke-on-Trent. Nic Fulcher of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust is the Assistant Project Manager at New Place. They were interviewed by Neva Grant. From the Shakespeare Unlimited podcast series.
