Former Chief of Staff and Advisor to the Biden White House Press Office, Yemisi Egbewole, joins to discuss her two years as Jean-Pierre's chief of staff, why the party is in ‘disarray', and why the Democrats continue have mixed feelings about popular New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) is known for being a firebrand when it comes to his conservative, small-government principles. He's also known for being a longtime supporter of President Donald Trump, despite taking issue with some of the president's policies. But Paul takes issue with being what he says is the only Republican willing to stand up to Trump and his latest moves which, according to Senator Paul, fly in the face of GOP principles and campaign promises. Most recently, he was concerned over his Republican colleagues' hesitation to confront Trump about his now-former nominee to lead Office of the Special Counsel, Paul Ingrassia. Ingrassia withdrew from the Senate confirmation process earlier this week after POLITICO's reporting on texts that showed him making racist and antisemitic remarks. “I hear a lot of flack from Republicans and they want me to do it. They say, ‘Oh, well, you're not afraid of the president. You go tell him his nominee can't make it,' says Paul, who chairs the Senate Homeland Security Committee. “I'm just tired of always being the whipping boy.” In this week's episode of The Conversation, Paul joins POLITICO's Dasha Burns — just hours after he was snubbed from a presidential luncheon — to talk about this GOP fear of confronting Trump, support for House colleague Rep. Thomas Massie, the administration's latest foreign policy moves, the Epstein files and a “farmageddon” that may be on the horizon. “If I'm given the choice of President Trump versus Harris or versus Biden, without question, I choose President Trump over and over again,” says Paul. But that doesn't mean I'm going to sit back and just say, ‘Oh, I'm leaving all my beliefs on the doorstep. I'm no longer going to be for free trade. I'm no longer going to be for balanced budgets. I'm no longer going to be opposed to killing people without trials, without naming them, without evidence.' No, I have to remain who I am.” Later in the show, Dasha speaks to epidemiologist and public health professor Katelyn Jetelina, the founder of the Substack “Your Local Epidemiologist." They discuss what it's like being a health communicator in the time of MAHA and why she thinks public health is nearing ‘system collapse.'

Jack Smith, the former Biden administration enforcer working under the title of special counsel finds himself in trouble. He's been formally indicted. Smith's idea of justice was less "scales of fairness" and more sledgehammer to the kneecaps of anyone orange-tinted or wearing a MAGA hat. And now the universe offers a cosmic karma chuckle and flipped the script. Referred to the Department of Justice's Office of Professional Responsibility for what can only be described as a masterclass in overreach, Smith's not just in hot water—he's marinating with a garnish of disbarment proceedings in Tennessee and New York tossed on top. What led to this eventuality isn't some isolated blooper. It's the encore to a four-year farce where the Biden-era DOJ treated "equal justice under law" like a suggestion written on a karaoke song sheet. Jon Herold and Chris Paul mark Devolution Power Hour Ep. 401 with a marathon deep dive into global politics, domestic lawfare, and the growing information war. The show kicks off with Trump's Asia tour and Steve Bannon's bombshell claim that Trump will serve a third term, challenging the 22nd Amendment and sparking debate over constitutional legitimacy and divine providence. From there, Jon and Chris explore Chuck Grassley's revelations on DOJ corruption, Bill Barr's strategic “trap” memos, and how the FBI's Arctic Frost investigation exposed Biden's weaponized justice system. The conversation shifts into surreal territory with reports of AI-written court rulings, prompting a larger discussion about the collapse of judicial credibility and the dangers of artificial intelligence in governance. They close with updates on Trump's sanctions, South American tensions, and the mainstream media's manipulation of global narratives. Insightful, unfiltered, and filled with humor, this episode captures the spirit of Devolution Power Hour, where nothing is off-limits, and every headline hides a deeper game.

While President Donald Trump did not receive the Nobel Peace Prize this year, he could be the odds on favorite to win the distinguished award in 2026 because of his work brokering peace deals or ceasefires in eight different conflicts this year. Trump's deal-making diplomacy comes as left-wing critics thought this level of success impossible because of Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio's efforts to completely reform the State Department. The critics were wrong. State Department Deputy Spokesman Tommy Pigott joins “The Signal Sitdown” to provide an inside look at the State Department overhaul and how Trump has managed to find pathways to peace all over the world. The Biden administration's poor prioritization of America and its interests was painfully on display inside the State Department that Trump and Rubio inherited. Things were so bad, in fact, that Trump's political appointees had a difficult time simply tracking down just how many people actually worked for the state department. While many challenges remain, Pigott told The Daily Signal, “I think as Americans, we can be proud that we have a president who is a peacemaker.” Keep Up With The Daily Signal Sign up for our email newsletters: https://www.dailysignal.com/email Subscribe to our other shows: The Tony Kinnett Cast: https://megaphone.link/THEDAILYSIGNAL2284199939 The Signal Sitdown: https://megaphone.link/THEDAILYSIGNAL2026390376 Problematic Women: https://megaphone.link/THEDAILYSIGNAL7765680741 Victor Davis Hanson: https://megaphone.link/THEDAILYSIGNAL9809784327 Follow The Daily Signal: X: https://x.com/intent/user?screen_name=DailySignal Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thedailysignal/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheDailySignalNews/ Truth Social: https://truthsocial.com/@DailySignal YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/dailysignal?sub_confirmation=1 Subscribe on your favorite podcast platform and never miss an episode. Welcome to What Matters Now, a weekly podcast exploring key issues currently shaping Israel and the Jewish World, with host Jessica Steinberg speaking with Orna and Ronen Neutra, parents of Omer Neutra, a tank platoon commander who was killed on October 7, 2023, his body taken hostage by Hamas terrorists. The Neutras, Israeli-born Americans who have been living in the US for the last 20 years, talk about the last days since the start of the ceasefire, the joyous return home of 20 living hostages, as the bodies of 13 hostages are still held in Gaza. Orna Neutra discusses how they knew they would never hug their son again, but how difficult it is to reconcile his death until they can bury his body. Ronen Neutra offers more details about October 7, 2023, his son's heroic final moments as a commander on the so-called White House IDF post near the Gaza border. The Neutras discuss their alliance with both the Biden and Trump administrations over the last two years, their more than 40 visits to Washington, DC, and how each US administration embraced the hostage families. Yet, says Orna Neutra, there is still the challenge of explaining that a deceased hostage is still a hostage, and can't remain in Gaza. Ronen Neutra talks about the gray zones of the ceasefire agreement concerning the deceased hostages, and how this war is not over until the last hostage is back. And so this week, we ask Orna and Ronen Neutra, what matters now. What Matters Now podcasts are available for download on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube or wherever you get your podcasts. If only we had a real government shutdown. During the supposed shutdown, we have seen the formulation of several terrible economic and foreign policies. I begin with some bad news about this administration's coddling of Islamic figures. Next, we move on to the economy. We all complained throughout the Biden administration that we had a crony economy that only worked for a handful of tech companies and that a centrally controlled economy left hardworking Americans in the dust. We complained about stagflation under Biden and asserted that government reports were fraudulent. Well, what has changed? We're joined today by Tracy Shuchart, senior economist at NinjaTrader, who offers a fiscal checkup of our economy and shows how the stagflation is worse than ever. She offers analysis of capital markets, banking, commodities, and precious metals so we can navigate the limited investment options in an era of mob boss government control of our economy. Both parties complain about stagflation, but in reality, both parties support the underlying causes and they both deny it exists when their guy is in power. Learn more about your ad choices. This Graham Platner saga just keeps delivering. Every time I think we've hit the ceiling on oppo drops, the elevator dings and we're in a whole new suite of controversy. It's not that the content was entirely new in tone. We've already seen him refer to himself as an Antifa supersoldier and admit to having an SS tattoo (which, to his credit, he covered up). But the latest batch of Reddit posts that surfaced added a thick layer of ugly homophobia. Explicit posts. Graphic anecdotes. And not from his teenage years or during some misunderstood youthful rebellion. These posts span several years, even continuing into the Biden administration.I've always said that if you're running as an outsider candidate, having some skeletons in your closet isn't necessarily a bad thing. It can actually help. Nobody expects a populist outsider to be perfect. The electorate doesn't want a robot. They want someone who talks like them, even if it means sometimes saying the wrong thing. And even as Platner tests the outer limits of that rule, here's the twist: the polling. A new University of New Hampshire poll of likely voters in Maine had Platner at 58 percent. That's not just a lead. That's a blowout. Janet Mills is at 24 percent. If those numbers hold up, then Chuck Schumer and company are right to be panicking.Politics Politics Politics is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.Still, Platner's campaign has been running scared. Apology videos. Zoom interviews. Carefully worded statements about how he doesn't think that way anymore. But from where I sit, this guy is doing everything but what he should. If I were advising his campaign, I'd be yelling: go on offense. The proper response to all of this should be simple — I deleted the posts before you ever knew my name. I deleted them because they didn't reflect who I am anymore. That's growth. That's accountability. And that's all anyone should expect. Instead, we get these soft, hedged statements. You're not going to convince anyone that you're the perfect candidate — stop trying. What kills me is how obvious the pressure is from the Democratic establishment. You can feel Chuck Schumer's fingerprints all over this. They're running the classic drip-drip-drip strategy, hoping to humiliate Platner into dropping out. But if you're Platner — and especially if you believe those polling numbers — why would you flinch? Schumer and Mills are the ones who should be sweating. They've failed to unseat Susan Collins time and time again. They trot out the same kind of “perfect” candidate every cycle and lose. And now, when someone is actually running strong in the polls, they're scrambling to blow it all up.I'm not defending what Platner posted. It was gross. And people are right to be upset. But this is a high-stakes game, and the voters of Maine seem willing to give him a shot. The question now is whether Platner will take the opportunity and run with it — or keep playing defense while the party machine steamrolls him. Personally, I'm tired of watching him take these hits and not swing back. I've been saying it all week. If you want to win, you have to punch. You can't win a Senate seat on your heels. So please, for the love of political strategy — say their names, take their power, and act like you're trying to win this damn thing.Chapters00:00:00 - Intro00:03:19 - Graham Platner00:17:55 - Update00:18:57 - SNAP00:21:40 - White House East Wing00:28:36 - Beef Prices00:31:08 - Interview with Juliegrace Brufke00:59:39 - Wrap-up This is a public episode. The flow of high-level Trump administration officials to Israel in the wake of the Gaza cease-fire agreement has sent a clear signal to Israel’s prime minister and his government, columnist Joshua Leifer said on the Haaretz Podcast. In a single week, envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner arrived for an extended stay, followed by the first state visit of Vice President JD Vance. Secretary of State Marco Rubio followed on Thursday evening. For Leifer, “the bottom-line message to the world that the Trump administration is sending with these visits is ‘We don't trust Netanyahu to follow through on what he's agreed to,’ and they have a good reason to think that. At every opportunity, Netanyahu has made it clear that he is unhappy with the Gaza deal.” Trump’s close supervision of Israel during the war – and afterwards, Leifer added, has been so unrelenting and it feels as if “in some sense, Israel has been put under a U.S. mandate.” In his conversation with podcast host Allison Kaplan Sommer, Leifer also discussed the way in which Trump “has completely scrambled American Jewish politics.” On one hand, he said, “American Jewish liberals loathe him and experience him and his followers as racist, sexist, homophobic and antisemitic” while “on the other hand, it's true that he managed to do what Joe Biden couldn’t: end the war and bring the hostages home.” Read more: Hamas Disarmament and Turkey's Role: Vance's Israel Visit Aims to Address Key Postwar Gaza Questions Vance Spotlights Hamas Violence on Israel Visit, but Netanyahu Is on a Short Leash From Bear-hug to Bibi-sitting: Marco Rubio Flies Into a Tense Moment in U.S.-Israel Relations Analysis | With One Eye on Reconstruction, U.S. Won't Let Fragile Gaza Cease-fire Go Up in SmokeSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

1. DOJ Subpoenas and Alleged Political Surveillance Senator Cruz reveals that Jack Smith, Special Counsel under the Biden DOJ, subpoenaed his phone records as part of an investigation into events surrounding January 6th. Cruz was not initially listed among the nine Republican senators whose records were obtained because his phone provider, AT&T, refused to comply with the subpoena, citing constitutional protections under the Speech and Debate Clause. The DOJ reportedly obtained records from Verizon for other senators, including Marsha Blackburn, Ron Johnson, Josh Hawley, and Lindsey Graham. Cruz and Ferguson characterize the subpoenas as a politically motivated fishing expedition, lacking criminal justification. 2. Concerns Over Abuse of Power Cruz argues this represents a dangerous precedent of the executive branch spying on legislative members. He calls for hearings and investigations to uncover who authorized the subpoenas and to prevent future abuses. The operation is referred to as “Arctic Frost”, which Cruz likens to a modern-day Watergate. 3. Meeting with Donald Trump at the White House Cruz recounts a lunch with Trump and other Republican senators, where Trump showcased renovations to the Rose Garden and plans for a new ballroom. The upgrades are privately funded, not taxpayer-funded, yet have drawn criticism from Democrats. Trump also distributed personalized gifts (e.g., challenge coins, golf towels, M&Ms) and joked about naming a room the “Monica Lewinsky Room.” 4. Government Shutdown Cruz discusses the ongoing government shutdown, blaming Democrats for refusing to vote to reopen. He notes that only three Democrats have supported reopening efforts, despite impacts on TSA agents and air traffic controllers. He predicts that retiring Democrats may eventually break ranks to end the shutdown. The Democrats claim that President Trump is weaponizing the government by indicting James Comey and John Bolton. But what if Glenn were to tell you that a new report shows FEMA kept disaster aid from people who held conservative views? Will the Left be outraged by this obvious political weaponization?
