What does it take to build a brand that resonates across cultures… not just across markets? In this special dual-guest episode, Lacey Peace sits down with Nataly Kelly, Chief Marketing Officer at Zappi, and Katherine Melchior Ray, UC Berkeley lecturer and former executive at brands like Nike, Hyatt, and Louis Vuitton. Together, they co-authored the new book Brand Global, Adapt Local: How to Build Brand Value Across Cultures and they're here to share the lessons learned from decades of global brand-building. Nataly and Katherine dive deep into why cultural intelligence is the most under-leveraged skill in modern CX, why brands that ignore cultural context are building in globalization debt, and how something as simple as a melon can repair — or ruin — customer trust. They explain the importance of shared values, the risks of applying the same CX metrics globally (spoiler: NPS doesn't mean the same thing in every country), and how AI is both accelerating and complicating cross-cultural brand connection. From real stories about Kit Kat's flavor strategy in Japan to awkward CX blunders in global grocery stores, this episode is packed with tangible takeaways and perspective shifts for any business looking to scale with humanity and intention. The You Tried Dat?? crew takes to the skies as they try popular airplane snack Lotus Biscoff cookies. They match it up against Kellogg's Rice Krispie Treats, and Pink Lemonade Kit Kats.
“Is it ever too early for pumpkin spice season?” That's the question Sandy and Trisha dive into as they unpack the surprising return of fall flavors in the middle of a Texas summer. From Starbucks' AugustPSL launch to Halloween candy sightings in July, the duo debates whether we're rushing the seasons—or just embracing the chaos. In this lively and laugh-filled episode of The Sandy Show, Sandy and Trisha cover everything from TV and movie sequels (yes, Practical Magic 2 and Devil Wears Prada 2 are happening!) to audiobook fails, including a hilariously underwhelming narration of Bob Dylan's Chronicles by none other than Sean Penn. Spoiler: Trisha thought it was John Mellencamp. You'll also hear:Trisha's “lotto booty call” and her ongoing love-hate relationship with scratch-offs.A passionate defense of Ted Lasso and Schitt's Creek as the ultimate feel-good binges.Sandy's bromance with Tom Hardy—and his brutally honest movie reviews. The genius of a $20 bill wrapped around a Kit Kat bar as the ultimate kid's birthday gift.A hilarious throwback to the “Fruit Cocktail Guy” and his rage over half a cherry.Memorable Quote:“It's more than enough, and they will be thankful for it—for they do not deserve it!” — Fruit Cocktail GuyWhether you're here for the laughs, the pop culture updates, or just to hear Sandy and Trisha's banter, this episode is packed with personality, nostalgia, and a few surprises.
French snacks await the You Tried Dat?? trio of tasters this week: Petit Herisson, Kit Kat Ball, and Twix Top. Which will take home the coveted baguette trophy? (Because the French love baguettes). Could plastic packaging be the next target on MAHA's hitlist? Have we reached peak chili crisp? Has Dubai chocolate already jumped the shark? The hosts dig in and debate, then spotlight a new $450 million fund that's fueling emerging food and beverage brands. We also sit down with Tara Lindley of High West, who talks about how the revered whiskey brand balances innovation with market demand. 0:35: No Ski, Just Apres. A CPG Hub. Bright News, Big Money. Dubai Snickers. Hoarding Crisp. THC Bs. – John is back home and in the studio, though he's still craving the Guinness from his recent travels. Jacqui dives deep into Nombase's new Data Hub, while Ray and Mike shine a spotlight on snack brand Sunnie, which just landed $1 million in fresh funding. They also break down the details of Shore Capital's massive third fund. In a segment meant to be rapid-fire, “Buy or Sell” turns into a spirited debate. Does Dubai chocolate still have momentum? Are plastic bottles a new target for RFK Jr.'s supporters? And has chili crisp finally hit its saturation point? The crew also taste-tests Like Air's latest opus, before Mike rounds things off with a few sips of cannabis-infused beverages. 31:12: Interview: Tara Lindley, Director of Sensory QA & New Product Development, High West – Utah's first legal distillery since 1870, High West crafts distinctive whiskeys that represent the culture and terrain of the American West. Known for its award-winning portfolio, High West is especially celebrated for its limited-edition releases like The Noble Share, High Country American Single Malt, A Midwinter Night's Dram, and Bourye. Leyla Kazim visits York, the UK's 'chocolate city', on the centenary of Joseph Rowntree's death, to find out how the Quaker entrepreneur pioneered both social reform and iconic chocolate brands like Smarties and Kit Kat.Today, many independent chocolate makers still call York home, as do some of the word's biggest multinational confectionary makers. Leyla Kazim wanders through York Chocolate Festival to trace the city's unique chocolate heritage and find out what changed when global companies got involved. As the so-called 'Dubai chocolate' drives a frenzy of demand for filled bars and imitations, Leyla meets a Newcastle chocolate maker with a penchant for wacky flavours and who inspired the original sell-out hit.Leyla also hears how falling global production and high prices of cocoa could be the end of chocolate as we know it.Produced by Nina Pullman for BBC Audio in Bristol.
Send us a textStep into the world of ground support equipment innovation as the Power Stow Americas team opens their doors to reveal how they're quietly revolutionizing baggage handling operations worldwide. From their facility in Norcross, Georgia, this intimate conversation takes listeners on an unexpected journey through the company's fascinating origin story and current cutting-edge solutions. The podcast features a remarkable cast of industry veterans - Ken Brown (KB), who spent 38 years with United Airlines before crossing over to lead Power Stow Americas; Justin Brennan, bringing his extensive GSE sales expertise; and most surprisingly, Arlie Wurtzen, who designed chocolate manufacturing equipment (including the knife that cuts Kit Kat bars!) before helping develop Power Stow's first prototype over 20 years ago. What began as a solution to European regulations limiting lifting weight has evolved into a product line that dramatically improves ergonomics for ramp workers. The flagship roller track system, which extends conveyor belts directly into aircraft cargo holds, has become so valued that ramp agents have physically fought over units and stayed with them during breaks to prevent others from "borrowing" their equipment. The conversation explores how Power Stow has expanded beyond their initial success with new innovations like the tail loader (bridging the gap between belt loaders and carts), the transfer belt (solving ergonomic challenges in baggage rooms), and assisted docking systems (addressing aircraft damage concerns). Throughout each development, the company maintains its obsessive focus on user experience and customer service, shipping parts same-day and deploying technicians within 24 hours when needed. Most compelling are the stories of transformation - from KB's journey as a skeptical airline executive to becoming the company's biggest advocate, to the moments when resistant veteran ramp workers suddenly realize how the technology can extend their careers by protecting their bodies. These human elements reveal why Power Stow has earned such loyalty in an industry where relationships and reliability matter more than fancy marketing.Ready to see these innovations in person? Visit Power Stow at the upcoming GSE Expo in Las Vegas, where they'll showcase their systems and demonstrate why this team has earned such respect throughout the aviation ground handling community.Looking for reliable and flexible ground support equipment leasing solutions? Dr. Jason R.C. Nurse, Associate Professor in Cybersecurity at the University of Kent and Director of Science and Research at CybSafe, joins ITSPmagazine at RSAC 2025 to discuss how people's attitudes shape their cybersecurity behaviors—at home, at work, and everywhere in between.Drawing from a global survey of over 7,000 individuals, Dr. Nurse presents data that reveals a fundamental challenge: while many individuals recognize the importance of cybersecurity, a significant number also find it intimidating and frustrating. Nearly 43% of participants shared that they feel overwhelmed by security measures, highlighting a persistent disconnect between the intent of security protocols and the lived experience of users. This disconnect manifests in inconsistent behaviors. At home, people may take extra precautions to protect their personal lives and families. At work, however, there's a tendency to outsource responsibility to the employer. This duality—heightened vigilance in personal spaces and relaxed caution in professional environments—creates vulnerabilities in a world where attackers don't care where the device or user happens to be.The conversation emphasizes the need to rethink how we approach cybersecurity education, awareness, and design. Dr. Nurse advocates for a “usable security” model—systems that protect users without demanding overly technical knowledge or creating friction. He uses the example of biometrics and seamless phone authentication to show how good design can improve both security and user satisfaction. To illustrate the connection between knowledge, attitude, and behavior, Dr. Nurse brings humor into the mix with a memorable analogy involving Kit Kats. Just as knowing something is delicious can shape our cravings and actions, understanding security in relatable terms can lead to more proactive behaviors. The episode wraps with a candid reflection on trust and novelty in the face of emerging AI systems—like self-driving cars. Dr. Nurse questions whether people truly trust new technologies or if they're simply seduced by convenience and innovation. This is a conversation about what it really takes to build a security-conscious society—one that understands people as much as it understands threats.Listen to the full episode to hear how mindset, usability, and cultural attitudes are reshaping the human side of cybersecurity.___________Guest: Dr. Jason R.C. What about Reese's Peanut Butter Cups? Does M&Ms grab a spot? Does 5th Avenue or Kit Kat deserve a place? After that, they discuss which Non-Chocolate Candies will be part of that grouping. Can you argue that Starburst shouldn't get a spot? Will Skittles be included? Is Sour Patch Kids in the conversation? What about Twizzlers or Air Head Bites?
Steve and Cat talk about where all the bookstores went to? Do you still read books? Our SOB this week is economist John Maynard Keyes. Fox's survivalist show "Extracted" is our What Ca Watchin this week. Shot of the week is the Kit Kat show. Band of the week is the D.C,'s own The Country Gentlemen. a bluegrass band.
Recorded September 1, 2024 This week, Nate went to yet another amusement park- one not so dilapidated this time. Then, Ryan talks about a game that seems to have been designed for the venn diagram that is his entire personality. Afterwards, they have a KitKat cereal and a (better than usual) Calpis, only to discuss data backups. Then, they focus their discussion on the social implications of cloning, what makes up a soul, and one woman’s solution for dealing with people she just doesn’t like in their discussion of the book, Six Wakes by Mur Lafferty. 1998, New York. Première diffusion le 13 novembre 2020 Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Send us a textThe seemingly simple question of what we wear to bed reveals surprising insights into our personalities, cultural history, and family dynamics. From matching sets to mismatched comfort wear, our pajama preferences speak volumes about who we are.Did you know the word "pajama" originated from Hindi? Or that in Western culture, pajamas were initially a status symbol demonstrating wealth and cleanliness? These comfy garments have a surprisingly rich history that we unpack with enthusiasm and personal anecdotes. We share our contrasting sleepwear approaches - one of us exclusively wears coordinated matching sets while the other prefers oversized t-shirts paired with men's pajama pants (for the essential pockets!). This difference extends to when we change into pajamas - some of us switch early in the evening while others reserve them strictly for sleeping. We explore family traditions around matching Christmas pajamas and how these evolve as children grow up, wanting more independence in their sleepwear choices. The conversation takes unexpected turns as we discuss surprising statistics (74% of people sleep in pajamas multiple times per week - what about the rest?), celebrity influence on pajama styles (thank you, Coco Chanel!), and practical concerns about different sleepwear options. Along the way, we try an unusual pink lemonade Kit Kat and share our weekly highs and lows, creating the intimate, conversational experience our listeners love.Follow us on Instagram and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts for more candid conversations about life's everyday experiences and the surprising depths they reveal!Mike Haggerty Buick GMCRight on the corner, right on the price!

With Special Guest: Nick Helm Holy F***! Comedy starlet Nick Helm is back on CheapShow and he isn't messing about. He joins Paul and Eli at the Soho Radio Podcast Studios for what turns out to be 90 minutes of rants, shouting, repulsion, audio torture and awkward conversations. Once again, Eli seems to be feeling poorly as he croaks and squeaks through the recording session. The upshot of this is that he develops the most adorable laugh we've ever heard. As for Paul, he's a bit grumpy before things even kick off and his inability to control his co-host and his guest will drain the life from his soul. As for Nick, he's has to endure some unusually flavoured crisps from Finland, Kit Kats from Japan, the Rambo themed music of an ex-BBC radio presenter (no, not that one) and a party game that is only going to make the already volatile atmosphere worse! Hold tight everyone, it's a rowdy one!
