The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is one of the best books of religious satire released this century, and maybe it will hold that status for a while--only time will tell. After a serious look at the most revered books on the planet, it's time to lighten things up with the Pastafarians and their book that contains approximately as many contradictions as the Christian Bible, but with a rock-solid explanation built into the preface.Even Richard Dawkins, the famous atheist-biologist, has good things to say about this Quill Award-winning religious text. For this movement that began in 2005, a book release only the next year might be a little quick compared to some traditions, but it's a little slow compared to some others. Bobby Henderson penned the bulk of the text, offering a wide variety of biblical parodies, but he also includes several essays from others who have joined the movement. The best of these parodies are rooted in the biblical books of Genesis and Exodus, but there is material based on more recent historic figures, too. Like the best religions, there are things to celebrate, and Pastafarians have several noodly holidays, many playing puns on some of the biggest holidays in the Judeo-Christian tradition. If you enjoy our show and don't take faith too seriously, you'll love The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster., and other books published by devotees of the movement. If you like the work that the Satanist churches are doing but find them too dark, try Flying Spaghetti Monsterism. Support us on Patreon and SpreadshirtJoin the Community on DiscordLearn more great religion factoids on Facebook and Instagram

I'm wicked excited because today on The Karen Kenney Show, I'm talking to one of my beloved mentors, the multi-award-winning author and in my own words “super-duper smarty pants”, Melissa Tiers!Melissa is the founder of the Center for Integrative Hypnosis in New York and it's been said about her, “When it comes to coaching and the brain, Melissa Tiers is known as ‘the teachers' teacher' all over the world.”So when I had a chance to work with her to expand and deepen my own skill set, to experience her magic and to get certified in Integrative Hypnosis and “coaching the unconscious mind” - it was a total no brainer!Melissa is hands down one of the most curious people you'll ever meet.I would even say that it's her enthusiastic curiosity that first brought and now keeps Melissa as a sought after-hypnotist, and one of the top brilliant minds and thought leaders in her field of work. She's always fascinated by about altered states of consciousness, the limits of everyday human perceptions and how we can learn to bend and shape them.Even after writing four books (three of them award-winning), teaching all over the planet and with decades of studying, intense seeking, and hands on experience on the topic of the unconscious mind, she'll still tell you that she doesn't know it all. She knows that there is always room to expand her knowledge, research and experiment further and continue to play in this area of neuroscience that can, does and will make a difference for humanity in an ongoing way. It's this beautiful blend of compassion, confidence, and curiosity that first attracted me to her as a teacher (that along with her NY accent and her liberal use of adult language) and keeps her as someone that I'm thrilled to get to study with and continue to learn from! Are you curious now too? If so, buckle up; this is going to be a fun ride!KK's Takeaways:Curiosity Brought Me Here (6:53)Hypnosis Was A Hobby (10:12)Shift In Perspective (16:13)Cultivate Noticing (23:35)Playing For Change (31:03)Unconscious Mind (37:22)You Are The Expert (42:32)MELISSA TIERS BIO:Melissa Tiers is a multi-award-winning author, speaker, coach and Hypnosis instructor. Have you even struggled pick out where to eat? You know those times when you ask someone where they want to go to dinner, and they say, "oh, anywhere is fine." then you begin to name options... "howsMexicann sound?" they say, "no, but I open just not Mexican." "Okay," you say, "What about sushi?" Again they say, "no, I don't want sushi." Everything you suggest they say no to, then all of the sudden they say, "BURGERS! I'm craving burgers!" So often, we cannot name what we want, but we can usually get to what we don't want, just as when figuring out what to eat for dinner. It sounds counterintuitive figuring out what you don't want to know what you want, but if you think about it simply, as in the example above, you can see how it can lead you to what you do want. The trick is not to focus on what you don't want but to knock out what you don't want to get to the good stuff! What you crave! Connect to what you crave! Feel it see it! Connect past examples to it and what it feels like to be in that flow of what you love, enjoy, and where you thrive! Until next time, keep it simple, be at ease with yourself, trust your intuition with light the way. 56 Intuition vs uncomfortable action

Is uncomfortable a warning or excuse? Intuition is a way of understanding when to stop and when to move ahead. Many Gurus today tell us that when you are uncomfortable, it tells you to need to take action towards that discomfort. As an intuitive all of my life, I have learned that when my intuition gives me the warning, I am uncomfortable something is wrong, something I need to stay away from. Uncomfortable for me as an intuitive means danger, watch out... Yellow to Red warning lights are flashing. So when do you take action? You take action when you find yourself avoiding something you know you need to do. You don't want to learn, and you are avoiding. You know it is time to find a way to take action when you can list many reasons not to do something and motivation to do something. When to take action, you know getting on the other side of that barrier is better than where you are, and you can stare down the fear on the other side. In my near half-century of relying on intuition to guide me, I have always seen uncomfortable as a warning sign to be alert and find a different path or turn around. But when I avoid doing something and finding excuses, not following through, it is not uncomfortable. It is fear. It is a barrier I am not willing to breakthrough. I know I need to identify what is holding me back, what will drive me forward no matter what, and have a drive that will not stop me. That drives is from my intuition as well. When my intuition shines so bring and string that I know nothing will stop me, that is when I take action. I take little steps of action, pivoting and traversing fears to find that light that ignites my intuition, that is a form of action as well, but my intuition has the certainty and strength to drive me beyond any barrier when I am on the right path no question. It has zero to do with uncomfortable it has more to do with certainty. Find what holds you back, question yourself until you ignite your intuitive light, that certainty that drives you forward no matter what. Nothing will stop you! Until next time, keep it simple, be at ease with yourself, trust your intuition with light the way. Intuition is a muscle you build, and we all have the ability to build that muscle.. Intuition is certainty, clarity, knowing that gives you strength and steadiness. Intuition is about letting the little voice that urges you forward. It is thinking and living outside the box. You smash the box and think completely free of the confines of logic. Logic has its place, but intuition is the superpower that leaders will allude to as "gut instinct". The biggest key to intuition is knowing and trusting yourself. As with any new muscle you build, you go slowly. You can't run 20 miles the first time you try. So you begin slowly to build confidence. Intuition works the same way. You are building a connection and trust in your intuition. Look back when are there times you trusted your intuition when logic played no role in a decision you made in the past that just made sense and worked out. That was your intuition. Intuition is certainty in who you are, completely being yourself. Until next time, keep it simple, be at ease with yourself, trust your intuition with light the way. Welcome to episode 223 of the IABC International Podcast. On this episode we're speaking with Roxanne Beaubien about the Stronger than you Know campaign which has been recognised in this year's IABC Gold Quill Awards. The project was an internal mental health initiative designed to increase awareness and understanding about mental wellness and to reduce stigma associated with seeking help when experiencing a mental wellness struggle. The three-pronged anti-stigma campaign centred on testimonials from two members with lived experience, messaging from trusted leaders and a pledge project for all employees. Tactics included videos, a microsite, posters, magnets and a launch event. A post-campaign survey proved the campaign’s success in reducing stigma, improving opinions about those with mental wellness issues and influencing some to seek help if they were to experience a mental health challenge. -- Registration is now open for the virtual 2020 IABC World Conference! "Our belief system becomes biology." Christiane Northrup, M.D., is a visionary pioneer and a leading authority in the field of women’s health and wellness, which includes the unity of mind, body, emotions, and spirit. Internationally known for her empowering approach to women’s health and wellness, Dr. Northrup teaches women how to thrive at every stage of life. "Getting older is the time to increase value and competency." A board-certified OB/GYN physician, Dr. Northrup graduated from Dartmouth Medical School and completed her residency at Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston. She was also an assistant clinical professor of OB/GYN at Maine Medical Center for 20 years. Dr. Northrup knows that the key to vibrant health on all levels is within us—our inner wisdom. She says, “When we find the connection between our thoughts, beliefs, physical health, and life circumstances, we find that we are in the driver’s seat of our lives and can make profound changes. Nothing is more exhilarating or empowering.” Dr. Northrup’s work has been featured on Super Soul Sunday on OWN, The Oprah Winfrey Show, the Today Show, NBC Nightly News, The View, Rachael Ray, Good Morning America, 20/20, and The Dr. Oz Show.  Women clearly trust Dr. Northrup’s approach. In 2013, Reader’s Digest named her one of “The 100 Most Trusted People in America.” And, in 2016, she was named one of Oprah Winfrey’s Super Soul 100, a group of leaders who are using their voices and talent to awaken humanity. Dr. Northrup has spent her life as an advocate for women’s health and wellness, first as a practicing OB/GYN physician for 25 years and now as an internationally respected writer and speaker. Her books have been translated into 24 languages. A multiple New York Times best-selling author, Dr. Northup’s most recent book, Dodging Energy Vampires: An Empath’s Guide To Evading Relationships That Drain You And Restoring Your Health And Power (Hay House, April 2018) was an immediate success. In it Dr. Northrup sheds light on the real reason so many people suffer from seemingly inexplicable health conditions. Based on her professional and person experiences, Dr. Northrup provides strategies for removing narcissists and other cluster b-types from your life, and how you can recover your health after a relationship with an energy vampire. Dr. Northrup put her own personal truth on paper in 1994, with the first edition of Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom (Bantam, 1994). This groundbreaking classic quickly became a New York Times bestseller, and has been the veritable bible of women’s health for nearly two decades. With its raw facts and intriguing case histories, Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom explains exactly how to “create physical and emotional health and healing.” Her second book, The Wisdom of Menopause (Bantam, 2001, 2006, 2012), has been embraced by women everywhere, including Oprah Winfrey, who sought Dr. Northrup’s wisdom when she turned 50 and faced “The Big M.” In this New York Times bestseller, Dr. Northrup once again challenged convention with inspiring insights—the “change” is not a collection of symptoms to be fixed, but a mind/body revolution, which brings tremendous opportunity for happiness. Mother-Daughter Wisdom, Dr. Northrup’s third book (Bantam, 2005), was voted Amazon’s #1 book of the year in both parenting and mind/body health, and was also nominated for a Quill Award. In The Secret Pleasures of Menopause (Hay House, 2008) and The Secret Pleasures of Menopause Playbook (Hay House, 2009), Dr. Northrup outlines the crucial link between health and pleasure. Beautiful Girl, (Hay House, 2013) Dr. Northrup’s children’s book, brings her positive message to the youngest of girls. In Goddesses Never Age: The Secret Prescription for Radiance, Vitality and Wellbeing (Hay House, February 2015), which quickly became a New York Times bestseller, Dr. Northrup inspires women (and men) with an entirely different mindset about what it means to grow older. In her book, Making Life Easy: A Simple Guide to A Divinely Inspired Life (Hay House, 2016) Dr. Northrup shares the essential truth that has guided her since medical school, and advises her readers how to make their lives truly easy. Dr. Northrup has also hosted eight highly successful public-television specials, beginning in 1998. Her latest was based on her book, Goddesses Never Age, and first aired nationwide in February 2015. Dr. Northrup also founded Amata Life, a company that manufactures and distributes a product line featuring the Pueraria mirifica plant, a traditional medicine used by Thai women for 700 years. These health and beauty products help alleviate the symptoms of menopause, so women can truly thrive in the wisdom of this uniquely female life stage. As a business owner, physician, former surgeon, mother, writer, and speaker, Dr. Northrup acknowledges our individual and collective capacity for growth, freedom, joy, and balance. When she’s not traveling and teaching, Dr. Northrup loves devoting her leisure time to dancing Argentine Tango, playing the harp, going to the movies, staying fit, getting together with her daughters and friends, boating, and reading.
