SKODA LOSE A CEO AND VOLVO GAIN ONEKlaus Zellmer is leaving Skoda to head up Volvo. Håkan Samuelsson will hand over the reigns of the Swedish company no later than 1 October 2027 as per his contract. Zellmer had been in charge of Skoda since 2022 and with the VW Group for almost 30 years. Currently, special tariffs only apply to pure electric vehicles and the rate is calculated on a brand by brand basis. Chinese hybrid sales in Europe have jumped in recent months as they look to off-load their oversupply due to the Government edict on annual production numbers. China has rejected these calls. This will include a second production facility, more models including a SUV line and the creation of thousands of jobs. Maximum power is 11kW, but that is the same as many home, wall charging outputs that use AC. If the driver uses the assisted parking system of the car it will make sure the vehicle is perfectly aligned, apparently. But this will not be a cheap option, as the car mounted pad itself is €1,844.50, with the floor pad being €5,116,69, according to German configurator version. Due to sharing platforms, there should be a maximum range of 279 miles, and a charge from 30-80% in 22 minutes at 120kW. A completely new platform, with a maximum WLTP range of 435 miles, dependent on battery and powertrain selected. Also 30-80% charging can add 226 miles in 25 minutes, if all conditions are perfect. The interior is vast and mind-bogglingly configurable, with a variety of seat types and positions. As with all Mercs these days you can get more screens than a multiplex cinema, if you so desire. Using the same platform as the Kia EV9 and Hyundai Ioniq 9, it is even longer at nearly 5.3 meters. There will be options for either seven seats or four, with the front two swivelling around. Additionally it will come with ‘barn doors' enabling easier in and egress. There is a 123.5kW battery pack, enabling a maximum range around 311 miles. Due to 800v architecture 10-80% charging can take from as little as 22 minutes. Noel Ernest Edmonds (born 22 December 1948) is an English businessman, and former television presenter, radio DJ, writer and producer. Edmonds first became known as a disc jockey on Radio Luxembourg before moving to BBC Radio 1 in the UK, presenting its breakfast show for almost five years. He presented various radio shows and light-entertainment television programmes, originally working for the BBC and later Sky and Channel 4. After presenting children's Saturday-morning programme Multi-Coloured Swap Shop (1976–1982) and various other BBC TV shows like Top of the Pops and Top Gear during the 1970s, he became best known for presenting Noel's House Party on BBC One from 1991 to 1999. The show achieved 15 million viewers at its peak and originated the character Mr Blobby. He also presented the BBC TV shows Noel's Christmas Presents (1989–1999) and Telly Addicts (1985–1998). This is tartgeting lithium-ion batteries. However, as with all ADAS, the reality of what sounds like a great idea on paper compared to the execution is very different. Lexus is the latest to come under scrutiny, as claims online point out in-built flaws because their system uses eye-aspect-ratio and at least one Asian person has claimed it gives false positive warnings because of the shape of their eyes and eyelids. As this podcast has warned many, many times over the years, this leaves the industry open to potential lawsuits for racism. Additionally, these systems will never be able to get this right because they do not have a picture of everyone's face, their head position when driving, how their eyelids are shaped and so much more. It has a 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, with single electric motors up front and at the back linked to a 55.1 kWh battery pack all on 900V architecture. Full range is quoted as 458 miles with electric only being 111 miles. Weight is very similar to the above Range Rover at 2.9 tonnes. After spending four years off air, Top Gear is officially making a comeback, with the BBC confirming that the long-running motoring show will return to television.The programme was taken off the schedule in 2022 following a serious crash involving presenter Andrew ‘Freddie' Flintoff, who suffered facial and rib injuries while filming. Flintoff had been presenting the show alongside Paddy McGuinness and Chris Harris at the time.It will return, but will it capture the magic of old without the original trio of Hammond, May and Clarkson?Joining Ciara to discuss is Newstalk's own Rory Galvin and Nadia Adan, owner of Ashford Motors.

Philippa and Quentin cover the week (so far) in Ambridge — Sunday 23rd to Tuesday 25th August — and it has been a week of romantic entanglements, awkward confessions and a rather impressive car sale.Lily confesses the Harrison kiss to Rex, who is about as subtle about it as Lily was, and Fallon is already picking up vibes. Conrad arrives and is immediately flirting with both Fallon and Lily, makes his interest in Fallon very plain, and is either a smooth used car salesman or a decent bloke — the jury is still out. Fallon keeps the shutters firmly down. Harrison and Lily have not contacted each other since the kiss, which nobody believes will last.George, meanwhile, turns out to be a natural car salesman. Martyn Gibson plays it beautifully, listens to what George has to say about the plug-in hybrid with comfort memory seats, and secures the sale. Both hosts are very impressed. Quentin's prediction is already on the table.Lynda handles the appalling Diane magnificently, gives her a dressing gown and calmly shows her the door, then has a moment of uncomfortable self-reflection about whether she used to be the same. Robert and Lynda's finances are taking a real hit. Rex's manly odour after moving gravel all day gets a mention. Brian puts the wrong address on a delivery and Alice sorts it out — and gets a romantic dinner, whereas Adam would have been told off. Alice and Rex's smoochy scenes are becoming a lot. Beaulieu Enterprises Limited, who run the site, issued a statement to state even if the museum does move they will have their own motor museum on site to replace it. According to reports, there is no new lease on offer and the gate receipts for the site only give a small fraction of the entry fee to the museum. There are screens across the width of the dashboard, there is led lighting everywhere. Prices are yet to be announced but do expect them to be beyond £100,000 just for the ‘entry-level' version. Send us Fan MailWe're joined by Tom Gray, who may be better known to you as 'That Guy Gray' an automotive content creator. He's sat in his Range Rover L322 for this interview. Tom's earliest car memory starts off with him around age 12, and a Sunbeam Alpine that he would steer from the lap of a family friend. Other motoring memories include staying up 'late' to watch Top Gear with hid Dad. His Dad was and still is, a bit of a petrol head. Prior to children he'd had a Ford Escort XR3, Tom recalls the first car he travelled in was a red Peugeot 406, followed by a blue 406. His Dad would have BMW company cars, and these peaked with the E39 generation 5 series, a model both Tom and Jon hold a candle for. When his Dad's work dropped BMW from the company car scheme these were replaced by Ford Mondeos. When Tom was 13 his Dad bought a Fire Engine red BMW Z3, which they would take on road trips, and even did some track days in. A podcast to answer all your questions about productivity, time management, self-development, and goal planning. My name is Carl Pullein, and I am your host of this show.  One of the consequences of writing a journal every morning is that you come up with a lot of ideas about how you would like to change your life or the way you work. And many of those ideas can motivate you to try something new.  That could mean reading a real book every evening instead of watching TV or scrolling through the news and social media. Or perhaps to go out for an evening stroll after work, or plan your day the evening before, so you can enjoy a more relaxing evening. All seemingly easy to do.  And then you decide to do it. The first day is easy, the second a little less so and by the time you get to the end of the week, you've lost all motivation and picking up a book or going outside for a walk feels like the last thing you want to do after such a hard day. So you skip it. It's only one day, it can't do any harm, can it? And then the next day you don't do it, and the day after that and so on. Eventually, that great idea you had about changing a bad habit has ended up in the pit of tried-but-forgotten great ideas.  It happens to all of us. It doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with you; all it means is that you're relying on one of the most overrated ways to change something, motivation.  Motivation is fleeting; it never lasts, and it hates reality. It's also affected by the quality of your sleep, how distracted you are, and your overall mood. It's a very unreliable friend.  Great at encouraging you to get started, but terrible at keeping you going when things get difficult.  The good news is there is a more reliable way to make changes, but the bad news is you may need to initially feel uncomfortable. Yet it's worth it.  So, with that said, let me hand you over to the Mystery Podcast Voice for this week's question.  This week's question comes from Fran. Fran asks, Hi Carl, what do you do when you don't have the motivation to do what you have planned to do?  Hi Fran, thank you for your question.  To answer your question directly, I don't rely on motivation. I remember the days when I smoked, and almost every night, when I went to bed, I would motivate myself not to smoke the next day.  Thinking about that now, it's funny, because as I was “motivating” myself, I was smoking my last cigarette of the day. “No, I won't smoke tomorrow!” Then, when I woke up in the morning, I would make my coffee, then go outside for my first cigarette of the day.  Where was my motivation when I needed it most? It wasn't there.  In the end, I finally quit smoking by removing all temptation from the house and not carrying any money with me when I went out. Just my travel card and a lunchbox. It was tough, but after a couple of weeks, the habit was disappearing, and by the end of the month, I could not imagine smoking again.  I've seen this time and time again with people. Those who motivate themselves to go out for an evening walk after dinner, for example. It's easy to do that in the summer, when it's likely still light outside and the weather's warm and dry.  Then the temperatures cool, the light fades, and the rain comes down. “Ah, it's cold and raining, I won't go out tonight, I'm tired anyway, and I left my umbrella at the office.”  The one that still surprises me, though, is the daily planning.  Daily planning takes no more than five minutes and can be done just before you finish your work for the day or as the last thing in the evening, before you go to bed.  Five minutes, and after a while, it can be done in 2 or 3 minutes.  And yet, people still struggle. Why? Because they are relying on motivation.  I remember when I first read Hyrum Smith's Ten Natural Laws of Time and Life Management, and when I read the chapter on planning your day, I was incredibly motivated.  I was fortunate that as I was reading the book, I was setting up my Franklin Planner and one of the steps when using a Franklin Planner is to do the “planning and solitude” exercise every day.  It was suggested that you give yourself 15 minutes a day for this, and the first thing you wrote at the top of your Prioritised Daily Task list was “Planning and Solitude,” which would be given priority A1. It was the most important task of the day.  And that's what I did every evening. I sat at the table with my planner and planned out the next day. Then, I checked off the Planning and Solitude task. This meant that by the next day, my first task was already complete.  And since then, which was the early 1990s, I haven't missed some form of a daily planning ritual. I cannot imagine going to bed not knowing where I need to be and what needs to be done.  I doubt now I could get to sleep without knowing. I even do this when on holiday.  Just saying that now means I've consistently planned my day for over 30 years! WOW! The people who succeed at staying consistent with their plans are the ones who start small.  Often, we will take a course or read a book, get motivated and try to change everything all at once.  That's the hardest way to do it. Recently, I've been watching documentaries on how great football managers turn teams around. I've now studied Pep Guardiola, Sir Alex Ferguson, Johan Cruif and Mikel Arteta. And there's a common thread between all of them.  When they took over a team, the team was not performing. Often, they were struggling at the bottom of their league.  Yet, the change didn't happen overnight. It was a slow, step-by-step process. In all cases, they first fired old players who may have been brilliant, but were unwilling to adopt a new philosophy or were a bad influence on new players.  They recruited professional players who were willing to adapt to the new style of play. And in almost all cases, their first season was not great.  Then things began to change: the team started climbing the league and eventually winning trophies.  These managers treated the necessary changes as a project. It wasn't about “motivating” the players to play better; it was about having them buy into the new culture of doing things.  As Arsene Wenger, the legendary Arsenal manager, said in one interview when talking about his successor following his retirement: “We need someone who understands that football is not just about winning. It's about how you win. The philosophy has to come first. The results follow the philosophy, not the other way round. The philosophy is not a tactic. It's a value”  In other words, when you decide something needs to change, knowing why it needs to change is important. What's your reason, your philosophy and the value behind that change?  When you know the reason you want to change, “motivation” no longer comes into it.  One of my clients works for a company that was advised by a well-known consultancy to change its management methods to an “Agile” system.  There was then a flurry of activity by senior management, a great deal of money spent on training, and many employees were made redundant.  Ten years later, that company has slowly moved back to the way they managed things before they were force-fed Agile. What went wrong? Well, the motivation was high at the start of the transformation. Senior managers were buying into the vision that the consultancy company was selling. The problem was that there was no clear reason to change.  Sales were great, the culture was one of the best in the industry, and people loved working for the company. The company's sales team had strong relationships with their customers, and while there were areas for improvement, there was no need for a root-and-branch change in how everything was run.  Today, the company is struggling against its competition, the employees are demotivated, and sales are average at best.  And yet the Agile methods could have worked had the reasons for the change been better communicated. My client still has no idea why the company changed its management methods.  Without a strong reason to change, you will find your motivation runs out very quickly.  Talking with some of the members of my Retirement programme, I'm surprised by how quickly they start taking health and fitness seriously after retirement.  We go through our working lives sitting for 8 hours a day, slowly and quietly destroying our posture and mobility. We don't sleep enough and eat convenient food because who's got time to eat healthily when you have hundreds of messages to respond to, and you've got to get the latest marketing campaign finished by the end of the week? And then we go for a medical check-up and discover that we are pre-diabetic, we have early signs of heart disease, we are no longer able to get up out of a chair without using our arms, and we haven't seen our feet for years. Suddenly, we've found the motivation to eat and sleep better. We take those daily walks, and many of us join fitness classes.  But to continue with this new, healthier lifestyle requires more than motivation. There needs to be a purpose.  Recently, it was reported that former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer. He was fortunate that the cancer was caught early, and he's now in remission.  Suddenly, a guy who lived an unhealthy lifestyle of cigarettes, wine, sitting around, poor sleep and extreme work schedules has become a non-smoking, vegetarian, teatotaller  Sure, the shock of being within a year of death was pretty good motivation, but why is he sticking to his new lifestyle? Because, as he says, he wants to see his grandchildren grow up. Now that's a pretty good reason for making these difficult changes.  So there you go, Fran. Motivation is great for getting you started, but ultimately, you want a very good reason to change what you want to change.  Getting organised, improving time management, and being more productive are nice things to do. You feel more in control of your life, are more relaxed, a lot less stressed, and you find you sleep better. But the most important thing is to know why you are doing it.  For me, being less stressed, being more in control of my time, and getting the right things done at the right time give me more time to spend with my family and do the things I love.  That's my “why”. That's why I make sure I do my daily and weekly planning, why I am strict about what I say yes to and why I will never let my email and messages become backlogged.  I hope that helps, and thank you again for sending in your question.  Thank you to you too for listening, and it just remains for me now to wish you all a very, very productive week.

Andy met Mike at the NEC Classic Car Show last year, and Mike was kind enough to say he'd join us for a chat.We kick things off with Mike's earliest car memory, and it's his fathers MGC behind the garage doors which sticks prominently in his mind, from when he was 2 or 3 years old. Behind the MG, is parked a 1930s Lanchester LD14, a car that we think either belonged to his Grandfather or Uncle, or is the same model that they used to drive. The MGC is due to be back on the road again in 2026, the Lanchester sadly, with its 8hp engine, is still sat in the corner, awaiting some love. When it comes to cars in regular use, his Father's Rover 600 is the core car memory, along with his Grandfather's Mk2 Ford Mondeo.Just like many of our other guests, Mike has dipped his toe in reliving those ownership experiences himself, however, he's 'one-upped' his elders and bought the range topping sportier versions, the ST200 and the 600 Ti with the Tomcat turbocharged engine. We touch a little on Mike's time on DriveTribe, and see if we can get any inside 'dad's car' scoops on his previous ex-Top Gear colleagues. FOLLOW UP: MOTABILITY PAUSES BLACK BOX USEMotability has announced that it will be pausing the ‘Drive Smart' scheme that included fitting a black box to cars owned by those under the age of 30 leasing a car from them. Unfortunately they are not cancelling it but will amend it and try again. This discriminates against disabled drivers rather than helping them be more independent and live as active a life as possible. Whilst this sounds like it should help people, there are lots of evidence that shows those who need such help the most are disproportionately affected in times like these meaning they stop driving. For personal car usage this helps only the wealthy, however in the wider transportation ecosystem this will help to keep some costs down and not add to the impact the crisis is already having.
