Matt and Jason sat down with free speech activist, satirist, and legal warrior Michael Picard, widely known as the creator behind the popular YouTube channel Professional Douche. Emerging from a conservative background before embracing libertarian philosophy through Ron Paul, Picard transformed his worldview into a relentless crusade against state overreach and constitutional violations. Over the last decade, he has become a staple in the liberty movement—flexing his First Amendment rights, recording police misconduct, winning landmark civil rights lawsuits against corrupt law enforcement, and using world-class satire to challenge political dogmatism across the entire political spectrum. The conversation dives deep into the philosophy of satire as a weapon against state authority and the rigid absurdity of the two-party paradigm. From hiding under tables to confront politicians like Matt Gaetz to infiltrating partisan rallies with extreme caricatures of partisan ideologies, the dialogue highlights how satirical mirroring disarms crowds and exposes deep-seated authoritarianism. The discussion reflects on Picard's most legendary encounters, including the infamous 2015 Connecticut State Police incident where officers illegally seized his camera—unaware it was still running—and caught themselves on tape actively plotting to fabricate criminal charges against him. The conversation also explores the impact of citizen journalism, the shield of qualified immunity in the judicial system, the rise of the First Amendment auditing movement, and how police routinely react when citizens stand up for their constitutional rights. In the final portion of the episode, the focus shifts to actionable inspiration for everyday citizens who feel demoralized or intimidated by the expanding police state. Picard shares the origins of his own resilience, crediting his mother's encouragement to speak out, and offers a grounded "white pill" for listeners looking to cultivate their own resolve. Reclaiming freedom does not require grand gestures right away; confidence is built iteratively through taking that very first step. Whether it is holding up a sign, attending a local rally, or simply hitting record on a smartphone, taking simple, practical action is how individuals unlock their inner strength and spark real accountability in their communities. You’re listening to American Ground Radio with Stephen Parr and Louis R. Avallone. This is the full show for July 30, 2026. We open with the Texas Senate race — where Democratic nominee James Tallarico released a polished campaign ad called Waking Up, featuring him driving a full-sized Dodge Ram 1500 through Texas oil fields and farm country. There's one problem: it's not his truck. Tallarico drives a Chevrolet Colorado, but its tinted windows made the interior too dark for filming, so his campaign rented the Dodge from a local company. We make the distinction between normal campaign staging and renting a persona — because the entire ad was designed to sell Tallarico as a natural extension of working Texans, and the truck was the centerpiece of that message. We also note that Republicans handed Democrats an opening by nominating Ken Paxton — damaged goods with a messy personal and political record — instead of Wesley Hunt, who would have won this race by a landslide. Texas Republicans got this one wrong. In our Top 3 Things You Need to Know, President Trump's Attorney General nominee Todd Blanch is in limbo after John Cornyn and Thom Tillis signaled they would not support him in the Senate Judiciary Committee — concerned about a proposed fund to compensate victims of political prosecution under Biden, including January 6th defendants, even after Blanch testified under oath the deal was dead. Trump is reportedly considering withdrawing the nomination until both senators leave office in January. Then the federal government demanded Colorado repay $8 million in Medicaid funds after an audit found the state had billed for services totaling more than 24 hours in a single day for the same patients — a mathematical impossibility. Colorado disagrees with the findings. And thousands of military-age North African men breached the border between Morocco and Spain at Ceuta — overwhelming local law enforcement, with at least nine people killed in the chaos. Spain's Supreme Court recently ruled that sea arrivals cannot be deported without due process hearings. Most of Spain's borders are water. We also cover the WNBA's latest self-inflicted embarrassment — the league itself posted and then deleted a video from All-Star Weekend showing Dallas Wings guard Paige Bueckers and Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese apparently agreeing to a $400 bet on the outcome of a game between their own teams. The WNBA's own rulebook explicitly prohibits players from wagering on league games, with penalties ranging from fines to lifetime bans. We ask the obvious question: what are the odds that Angel Reese faces the same consequences Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham would face in the same situation? Our American Mamas Teri Netterville and Kimberly Burleson respond to a listener question about the growing number of rules new parents are imposing on grandparents before they can see a newborn — mandatory vaccinations, isolation periods, mask requirements, no kissing — and trace it directly to the damage Anthony Fauci did to medical credibility during COVID. A generation raised on social media sees the exception, not the rule, and draws sweeping conclusions from rare worst-case scenarios. Teri's advice: get the vaccines with 50-year safety records, do your research on the newer ones, and for the love of everything good — let grandparents kiss the babies. We dig into a J7 report — tracking antisemitic violence in the seven countries with the largest Jewish populations outside Israel — which found that 2025 was the deadliest year for antisemitic attacks in the Western world since 1994. There were 23,000 antisemitic attacks in those seven countries last year alone, including 20 murders of Jewish people motivated by hatred of Jews — three in the United States. We trace the rise to mainstream media coverage of Israel's response to October 7th that portrayed military action against a terrorist organization as genocide — providing ideological cover for people who were already antisemitic to act. We also connect it to the intersectionality framework that positions whoever appears most oppressed as the default sympathetic party — a framework that simultaneously claims to support women, gay people, and Palestinians, without reckoning with the fact that none of those three positions are compatible with each other under Hamas governance. For our first Bright Spot, President Trump announced that Middle East mediators — including Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey — have reached an agreement on the complete disarmament of Hamas and other armed groups in Gaza, with a phased plan to rebuild Gaza, establish a new Palestinian government, and guarantee Israel's security. We call it what it is: not a ceasefire, not a pause, but a structured plan — and potentially the most significant Middle East development in a generation. For our second Bright Spot, the island nation of Micronesia — 75,000 people spread across 607 islands in the South Pacific — used to charge $65 per megabit per second per month for internet access because the government ran the only internet provider. When the government ended its monopoly and allowed private companies in — including Starlink — the price dropped 99% to 78 cents per megabit and internet access jumped from nearly nothing to 88% of the population. All they did was end the government monopoly. We connect it directly to New York City's government grocery store plan — and suggest Mamdani study Micronesia before he opens his first store. We also cover New York City bodegas allegedly allowing customers to use EBT food stamp cards to purchase kratom — an herbal extract not approved as food, a drug, or a dietary supplement — and potentially THC products. We call it what it is: SNAP trafficking, a federal crime that diverts money intended for nutrition into products that have nothing to do with nutrition. We also note that families of 9/11 victims are asking organizers of the 25th anniversary Ground Zero memorial to bar Mayor Mamdani from attending — citing his political positions, his anti-Semitic endorsements, and his statement during his campaign that the worst thing about 9/11 was that his aunt feared people were looking at her suspiciously. We say that day belongs to the families and to the fallen — and that Mamdani would be a distraction from both. And we close with 73-year-old Dave Whitlow of Richmond, Virginia — who has spent eight years volunteering twice a week at the Children's Hospital of Richmond as a professional cuddler of premature babies. On busy days he holds eight different babies, some weighing less than two pounds, giving them the human contact their developing systems need. As he places each one back into their NICU bed, he tells them the same thing: grow strong, grow smart, grow kind. May your pursuit of happiness bring you joy. The second Chapter of the prophecy of Daniel records what King Nebuchadnezzar, the ruler of the most powerful kingdom in the world experienced after he "woke up from a bad dream."  In the Old Testament, dreams were used as carriers, conductors, conduits and channels to communicate and convey God's will.  A bad dream is a metaphor for the trials and tribulations we experience in life.  This message explores what we can learn from Nebuchadnezzar's experience.

Since the beginning of Israel's war after the October 7 massacre, an extraordinary group of Jewish women in Panama has gathered every single Sunday to recite Tehillim (Psalms) for the people of Israel. In this special Pulse of Israel message, Avi Abelow thanks these inspiring women and explains why their prayers are part of a much larger story unfolding in Israel today. For the first time since the rebirth of the modern Jewish state in 1948, growing numbers of Israelis, including many who never considered themselves religious, are openly recognizing God's role in our national survival. While God performed miracles in every one of Israel's wars, something has changed during this war. The horrors of October 7, together with countless stories of miraculous survival from soldiers, civilians, and hostages, have sparked a spiritual awakening across Israeli society.Avi shares why this growing faith is transforming Israel from within and why strengthening Jewish identity may become one of the greatest victories to emerge from this difficult war. He also expresses heartfelt gratitude to Jews around the world whose prayers, unity, and unwavering support continue to strengthen the people of Israel.Join Our Whatsapp Channel: https://chat.whatsapp.com/GkavRznXy731nxxRyptCMvFollow us on Twitter: https://x.com/AviAbelowJoin our Telegram Channel: https://t.me/aviabelowpulseFollow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/pulse_of_israel/?hl=enPulse of Israel on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/IsraelVideoNetworkVisit Our Website - https://pulseofisrael.com/Donate to Pulse of Israel: https://pulseofisrael.com/boost-this-video/

iHeartPodcasts, the no. 1 podcast publisher globally, in partnership with The Lighthouse, announced "Waking Up with Ryan," a daily video podcast hosted by coach Ryan Weiss, premiering July 7. In a wellness landscape crowded with big ideas and longer and longer episodes, the show makes a deliberately contrarian bet: that lasting change doesn't come from consuming more inspiration, but from practicing one thing, every day, until it becomes part of you. Each weekday episode (Monday-Friday, roughly ten minutes) centers on a single idea and a guided practice set to music-designed not to be heard and forgotten by lunch, but to be felt in the body and carried into the day. Every other week, the show widens into a long-form conversation with public figures, teachers, and artists about what awakening means to them, and the human experience beneath the public identity.Confirmed guests for special long-form conversations include Sophia Bush, Edgar Ramírez, LeAnn Rimes, Scooter Braun, Jamie Lynn Sigler, Stacy London, Marianne Williamson, Daniel Sharman, Lance Bass, Jennifer Morrison, Krysten Ritter, Gerard Butler, Colton Underwood, Ricki Lake, Danielle Robay, Taye Diggs and JR Bourne, among others."Most of us are searching outside ourselves for something we already carry within," said Weiss. "This show isn't about becoming someone new. It's about remembering who you already are-and doing it in the first few minutes of the day, because how you begin your morning shapes the direction of your life."Weiss arrives at this work from an unlikely path. He began his career performing in "Wicked" on Broadway, then moved behind the scenes as an agent trainee at William Morris Agency and later became the Director of Development at Storyline Entertainment-before a deeper question about what people are really chasing pulled him out of entertainment and into coaching. For the past 17 years, he has worked privately with founders, creatives and public figures through his Emotional Fitness process, a three-step practice for moving from anxiety, stress and overwhelm into safety, trust and action. His coaching career began when actor Jamie-Lynn Sigler insisted he work with her, a story she recounts in her new book, "And So It Is.""Waking Up with Ryan" leans into cultural conversations rather than traditional promotional events. In Los Angeles at Lighthouse Venice, Weiss was joined by Emmanuelle Chriqui and Jenna Dewan for a conversation on how to show up for one another and in New York at Lighthouse Brooklyn, during an evening hosted by Danielle Robay and Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Ricki Lake interviewed Weiss on awakening, transformation and the intention behind the show. These conversations will be available later in the series as part of the long-form episodes."We're always looking for authentic voices that meaningfully shift how people engage with audio, and 'Waking Up with Ryan' does exactly that," said Will Pearson, President of iHeartPodcasts. "Ryan has created something distinct in a crowded wellness space-an experience that is concise, intentional and rooted in real daily practice. It's the kind of show that creates a deep listener relationship over time, which is exactly what a great podcast does best.""Ryan embodies the ethos and mission of The Lighthouse: a multi-hyphenate creative committed to sharing his practice and wisdom in service of others. From his background in dance, to the agency world and into coaching, he brings a rare combination of artistry, empathy and lived experience to his work. With a deluge of wellness content, 'Waking Up with Ryan,' as a shorter daily format, reimagines personal growth into something accessible," said Jon Goss, CEO, The Lighthouse. "Ryan isn't simply creating a podcast. He's creating a daily practice that helps people reconnect with themselves at that captive morning moment. To see that IP originated, and then picked up by iHeart, at The Lighthouse shows we are fulfilling our promise to creators: an infrastructure for frictionless creativity.""Waking Up with Ryan" premieres July 7 on the iHeartRadio app and wherever podcasts are available. New episodes post each weekday and are distributed by iHeartPodcasts.Episodes available here:https://www.iheart.com/podcast/1119-waking-up-with-ryan-337533442 Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-like-it-s-live--4113802/support.

Fratello On Air: Sleeper '90s And '00s Watches Worth Waking Up For

Welcome to another episode of Fratello On Air! This week, we discuss sleeper watches from the '90s and '00s. It was an interesting period for timepieces, representing a transition from smaller, often quartz-powered models to mechanical ones. Let's just say that watchmakers were finding their collective feet again with interesting results. Still, there were gems, and we mention a handful. While Balazs was still a wee lad, Mike was checking out watch shops during the '90s and beginning to spend some of his hard-earned wages by the early '00s. One of the sleeper watches mentioned during this episode even found its way into his collection during that period. But there are plenty of other great pieces to consider. Some are already well known and often discussed, while some of our picks barely get a mention. Enjoy the show!HandgelenkskontrolleWe launch our show with a chat about recent events. Mike has returned from a largely stress-free trip to Germany. Of course, England's punishing loss to Argentina in the World Cup semifinal makes an appearance. Ugh. Regarding the big screen, The Odyssey looks like a potential must-see. For the Handgelenkskontrolle, Balazs has joined the fray with his Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical 38mm. This is the original version that Mike reviewed way back in 2018. Compared to today's model, it uses an ETA 2801-2 with a 50-hour power reserve instead of the current Powermatic 80-derived caliber, meaning that it ticks with a higher frequency.Mike, after wearing his 36mm Hamilton all week, has chosen a relatively similar watch for this episode. The old Seiko 5 7S26-02J0, otherwise known as the SNK805, is out in preparation for an article about it. When new, this piece was available on sites like Amazon for €40–80 and now commands prices of €150–250. While we miss the old days, we can't help but believe that this is still decent value for a relatively bulletproof, if not overly accurate, and timeless watch.Sleeper watches from the '90s and '00sFor our main topic, we return to a dubious period in watchmaking. The '90s and '00s were a great time, but when it came to watches, the results were all over the shop. Bubbly, crude, and forgettable designs were the norm. However, there were certainly standouts. The large brands, like Rolex, Patek, and JLC, largely stuck with tradition and made some beauties, but we're not here to discuss those. We're discussing some of our favorites from other marques, large and small. As mentioned, some of these pieces are popular, so perhaps they don't fall under the term "sleeper." Still, we think they deserve even more love. We start off our discussion with the Porsche Design by IWC ref. 3702. With its flush-mounted pushers, this watch looks as clean and modern today as it did in the '80s and '90s.In fact, this isn't the only mention of IWC during this episode. The entire catalog of IWC releases, including the Porsche Design watches, during this era was incredible. References included the Mark XII, the Ingenieur 3521, and more. These watches were focused, over-engineered, and beautifully built. A special nod goes to the Aquatimer 3536-2000, another watch that looks incredible now. The Ikepod Megapode Chronograph GMT, designed by Marc Newson, is another model that we love. Friend of the show Eric Wind from Wind Vintage has a special love for these! The Hamilton 9379 chronographs represent an odd period for the Swiss-American brand. These Valjoux 7750-equipped models wear beautifully and are delightfully inexpensive. Plus, there are many variants to choose from, which means there's something for everyone. For our next sleeper pick, some of us may remember when Omega attempted to lure younger, budget-conscious buyers with the Dynamic Chronograph. Reference 5240.5000 had strong military vibes with Breguet-esque numerals and massive pump pushers. These pieces used an ETA base with a Dubois Dépraz module. Today, these 38mm watches are still inexpensive but offer a great wearing experience. For an even more pared-back style, the field watch 5200.5000 is also interesting. For our last in-depth sleeper discussion, we mention the Girard-Perregaux Sea Hawk 7100. These lovely divers come in a variety of colors and case materials. Plus, they're still relatively affordable for a piece in decent condition. There's even a GMT version! For our honorable mentions, Balazs discusses the Breitling Aerospace, the Parmigiani Fleurier Toric Memory Time, and the legendary Rolex Oysterquartz 17000.We hope you enjoy today's show. As always, let us know if you have ideas for future episodes!

Today on Reflector we are bringing you a very special episode from a new series that found its beginnings right here.  It is called Book Keeper.  Last year we released the episode Hallelujah, where Megan Phelps-Roper revisited the Bible to ask what still endures when belief is gone.  That episode inspired us to continue telling these stories. In our first episode of this series Megan, more than 10 years after leaving the Westboro Baptist Church, returns to the Bible again. Even though she is no longer what most would consider a “believer,” she wants to explore what ancient wisdom still lives in these stories. And she begins with a tale of profound betrayal and reconciliation. Eddie Hobbs is a financial advisor, bestselling author, host of the Counterpoint podcast, and a former consumer advocate turned fierce critic of centralized power. In the early 1990s he took on Ireland's endowment mortgage industry, and later won a Competition Act case that forced the government to bring in consumer disclosure laws. His TV series Rip-Off Republic set audience records in Ireland and helped bring down the country's Groceries Order. In this conversation, Eddie traces his own turning point back to February 2020, and lays out why he believes Ireland has become a testing ground for policies with global reach, from digital ID to stakeholder capitalism, and why he sees critical thinking part of the way people reclaim sovereignty.→ Please like, comment, share & follow — to help me beat the suppressing algo's. What if the reason difficult conversations feel so impossible isn't because you're too sensitive, too anxious, or bad at communicating? What if you've spent years trying to find the perfect words—only to have your questions dismissed, your feelings turned against you, or the conversation somehow become about everything you did wrong? In this crossover episode of The Virtual Couch and Waking Up to Narcissism, Tony explores what has to happen before you can truly say the difficult thing. He breaks down the difference between ordinary fear and a nervous system that has learned through experience that vulnerability may come at a cost. You'll learn why explaining yourself more doesn't always lead to being understood, how emotionally mature and immature people respond differently to difficult conversations, and why your partner's defensiveness doesn't automatically mean you communicated poorly. Tony also explores the importance of knowing who you are, learning to tolerate discomfort, recognizing when you're trying to manage someone else's emotions, and speaking from integrity without making your peace dependent on the other person's response. This episode isn't about deciding that everything is someone else's fault. It's about becoming honest enough to recognize what belongs to you, what doesn't, and whether the problem is really who you've believed yourself to be—or the relationship pattern you've been trying desperately to survive. You'll learn how to: - Recognize the catastrophic "simulations" your brain runs — and why it files imagined disasters right next to real memories - Spot the difference between managing your partner's emotions and actually allowing them their own experience - Say the true thing from a grounded place instead of a needy, validation-seeking one - Understand why the leap is the last step, not the first — and why the "okayness" on the other side is something you build before you jump Drawing on more than two decades as a licensed marriage and family therapist, Tony walks through what actually gets you across the chasm — and it's quieter, slower, and stranger than "just be braver." It's about becoming honest enough to recognize what belongs to you, what doesn't, and whether the problem is really who you've believed yourself to be—or the relationship pattern you've been trying desperately to survive. You'll learn how to: - Recognize the catastrophic "simulations" your brain runs — and why it files imagined disasters right next to real memories - Spot the difference between managing your partner's emotions and actually allowing them their own experience - Say the true thing from a grounded place instead of a needy, validation-seeking one - Understand why the leap is the last step, not the first — and why the "okayness" on the other side is something you build before you jump Drawing on more than two decades as a licensed marriage and family therapist, Tony walks through what actually gets you across the chasm — and it's quieter, slower, and stranger than "just be braver." Part two lands soon — send your questions and situations to contact@tonyoverbay.com and Tony will work them into the next episode. 00:00 Crossover Episode Intro 01:02 Bungee Jumping Story 05:36 Differentiation Explained 09:09 Codependency Fried Clams 12:20 Mature vs Immature Dynamics 17:03 Fine Text Example 22:50 Constructing Your Crucible 25:25 Therapy Gridlock Scripts 27:44 Attack Surface Vulnerability 33:27 Cliff Edge Say It 35:27 Leap of Faith Metaphor 38:41 Why Just Jump Fails 40:53 Advice and Validation Trap 44:47 Fear Is a Story 46:52 Emotional Immaturity Dynamics 49:20 Brain Prediction Machine 58:16 Grounding Before the Leap 01:03:29 Growth Edge vs Safety Data 01:08:13 Wrap Up and Next Steps Please follow Tony on Instagram @virtual.couch, on TikTok @virtualcouch, on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/tonyoverbaylmft, and on Substack https://thevirtualcouch.substack.com/ You can reach out to Tony through his website tonyoverbay.com or by emailing contact @ tonyoverbay.com

If you've ever found yourself staring at the ceiling at 3 a.m., wondering why your body suddenly forgot how to sleep, you're not alone. As someone deep in the perimenopausal years, I know firsthand how frustrating middle-of-the-night waking can be. And unfortunately, many of us respond in ways that make the problem worse. In this episode, I break down what's happening biologically, why hormonal shifts often disrupt sleep, and the simple practices that can help you navigate those wakeful hours with a little more ease. Sleep isn't something you force. It's something you create the conditions for. And sometimes the smallest shifts make the biggest difference. Want everything in one place? As she prepares for the premiere of her one-woman show, Cartwheel, at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this August, Amanda has been thinking about the relationship between tragedy and comedy. This episode from her 20-part Resilience series on the Waking Up app is a look at why finding humor in tragedy is more than a coping mechanism, but a genuine survival skill, and how that idea has shaped her approach to bringing her story to the stage. Food, safety, and strong relationships are essential to our survival. Psychologist Lisa Miller says our brains also crave something else: transcendence. She suggests that spirituality is a universal human capacity, and that feeling connected to something larger than ourselves may be essential to a fulfilling life.  If you enjoy listening to Hidden Brain, we think you'll enjoy watching it, too!
