Mike Mantione and Dan Horowitz have been friends since their days at State University of New York (SUNY) in Binghamton NY. They created a band called "The Reasonable Men." "The Reasonable Men" went on to some local infamy as the party-rock band responsible for songs like “What The Fuck's Wrong With My Brain?”, “Two Fat Ladies”, and “What I Imagined is a Movie by Me.” After an unforeseen life changing event for Mike Mantione, the band took a hiatus. When Dan Franz, another member of the band followed his brother to Athens Georgia, Mike and Dan ended up following since Franz had taken all of the bands equipment with them and secured a very affordable apartment! . Franz left the band the name changed to Five Eight. Mike Palmatier eventually left after a serious accident, Patrick Ferguson a local drummer, joined the band. Many hard days and albums followed until they began to get noticed for great music and stage antics, They are still a huge part of the music scene in Athens. Currently a documentary is being made about the band that should be out in the near future. If you've never seen a Five Eight show, it is a musical experience not to be forgotten. Mike Mantione, along with Dave Domizi on bass and vocals, Geoff Melkonian on keyboards and vocals, and Christian Lopez on guitars and mandolin and R.E.M. drummer Bill Berry, is now a part of a new group called the "Bad Ends." This week we are joined by my friend Christian Lopez. I met Christian on the mats of Pure MMA and saw that he was respectful with the determination to succeed. However, I learned that Christian was not always this way and went through hard times to become the man he is today. Christian takes us through his childhood all the way until the present day. We learn of why he was a troublemaker in middle school, falling in love with the sport of Wrestling only to see his shot at collegiate wrestling disappear, and the huge responsibility of having to take care of his siblings, at a young age, while battling depression. This is a roller coaster of a story, which sees Christian battling constant adversity both internal and external; however, you will see why resilience and persistence are important. I am happy to say that Christian has learned from his lessons and is now taking life by the horns and living it to the fullest. Enjoy!

We are very excited to have singer/songwriter Christian Lopez in the studio as our guest on No Simple Road this week! Rolling Stone says.. "as popularity in Americana rises, Lopez can connect the dots for many young listeners..” Christian Lopez is not merely riding the wave of Americana Music, the West Virginia native is bending it to its knees. With the will of his voice and the stomp of a steady beat, Christian Lopez is pioneering his own brand of Folk Rock. Hailed as an Americana wunderkind when he burst onto the scene in 2015, Lopez recorded his debut album, produced by multi-Grammy winning producer, Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton) when he was just 18. Followed up by his critically acclaimed sophomore album, “Red Arrow” in 2017, featuring guests like Vince Gill and Kenneth Pattengale (Milk Carton Kids). Since then, Lopez has released 2 albums including “The Other Side” (2021) his latest release “Magdalena” (June 2023) which he wrote and recorded while living in the tiny town of Magdalena, New Mexico. We chat with Christian about: Playing music from the age of 5. How a visiting Dude Ranch as a kid gave him the bug to become a musician. What was it inside of him that made him give up a full college scholarship in pursuit of a dream. Ways he connects back to friends and family back home after being on the road for extended periods of time. The process of using angst as a creative tool in songwriting. Dropping barriers inside oneself to find your own unique voice. His experiences in working with major labels as a young man. Pushing through doubts from those around you. We had the pleasure of interviewing Christian Lopez over Zoom video!Christian Lopez has shared his new album, Magdalena, his fourth full-length studio album along with a brand new video for the song “Harper's Ferry.” “As I get older, my only goal is leaving behind the purest form of what I can do and give,” shares Lopez. “This album is just that.. no frills, no cowrites, no studio band, no compromises.. Just me.” Magdalena is a personal journey shared through song where Lopez looks inward and shares stories of love, loss and everything in between.About Christian Lopez:Christian Lopez is an artist who puts all of his eggs in one basket. The devoted singer-songwriter spent the last 2 years in a tiny New Mexican town called, Magdalena, writing and recording in a small adobe casita, on a mission to conjure the purest sounds and songs from the deepest depths of himself. With the help of producer, Robert Adam Stevenson, who also produced Lopez's last project The Other Side (2021), and drummer Carl Thomson, Christian delivers a new full-length album laced with some of Lopez's hardest, most joyful, and most spiritual songs to date. Lopez's work was interrupted in April 2022 when his little brother tragically overdosed on fentanyl in his hometown of Martinsburg, West Virginia. Heartbroken, Lopez shifted his outlook to focus on one mission: “to leave something real behind.. “.. Magdalena, his fourth full-length album, is just that, with the representation of Lopez's constantly altering state, his acoustic guitar playing, soaring vocals, and songs that focus less on a hook and more about hooking you to a feeling. You could say Christian Lopez has come a long way since his 2014 Dave Cobb produced debut, but now age 27, he's truly just getting started. We want to hear from you! Welcome to the daily304 – your window into Wonderful, Almost Heaven, West Virginia. Today is THURSDAY, June 22 West Virginia native Christian Lopez sets his new video in an old familiar place…the state makes a $50 million investment in WVU Cancer Institute…and at Mountwest College, students can earn a paycheck while studying in their field--#YesWV…on today's daily304. #1 – From ROLLING STONE – Christian Lopez recorded his just-released album “Magdalena” in self-imposed exile in a remote corner of New Mexico. But for his new video “Harpers Ferry,” the singer-songwriter-guitarist went home again. A West Virginia native, Lopez would frequently visit nearby Harpers Ferry, a historic site in the U.S. Civil War and beyond, as a kid. When he returns now, for a video directed by his frequent collaborator Steve Jawn, Lopez has an evolved perspective on Harpers Ferry's innate beauty. “I wrote this song about when I would bring my new wife to Harpers Ferry and how I'd witness her fall in love with it,” he said. “It was like me falling in love with it all over again. The feeling that Harpers Ferry gives you is one you wish you could carry around at all times.” Catch Lopez on tour this summer and watch the new video at Rolling Stone magazine. Read more: https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-country/christian-lopez-harpers-ferry-magdalena-album-1234767787/ #2 – From WDTV – Gov. Jim Justice joined West Virginia University academic and healthcare leaders last week to announce a large state investment for the WVU Cancer Institute. The $50 million investment helps in the pursuit of earning an official National Cancer Institute designation. The funding will be used for comprehensive research programs, faculty and facilities that will directly lead to innovative approaches in cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment for all West Virginians. “Our goal is to place the WVU Cancer Institute in the top 2% of cancer centers nationwide, which will improve the health and wellness of the people in our state, particularly in southern West Virginia, by reducing cancer occurrence rates and increasing cancer survival,” WVU President Gordon Gee said. Through partnerships with C.J. Hughes Construction Co. and the IT managed service provider Ntiva, Mountwest is offering two new programs that simultaneously offer both an education and a vocation. “You're getting your college degree by working for the folks who are also paying you to be in the program,” says Mountwest Director of Communications & Marketing Matt Crutchfield. “These are really great partnerships.” Learn more about Mountwest Community and Technical College at www.mctc.edu. “It started on The Rock Boat ironically… We were on TRB XVIII together… We saw Christian Lopez on the sports Court and we though it would be really cool if we could someone like that play around our fire pit…”. - The KrobathsThe BoatCast is excited to chat with TRB veterans Tracy and Norm Krobath, who have hosted around a dozen house shows since 2018. The Krobaths' first show ever featured TRB veteran Steve Everett - and have since featured a handful of TRB artists (next up will be Meaghan Farrell August 28th, 2022). The Krobaths host because they love live music and want to support those producing original music. They have a policy where all proceeds go to the featured artists. Tracy and Norm help give some sound advice (excuse the pun) for those interested in hosting a house show of their own - as they have learned a lot over the years (not to mention Norm stepped up his lighting game). It was actually at the Krobaths home in the Philadelphia suburbs that BoatCast Chris and Mark first attended a house show - and this artist hops on for a Boat-O-Bomb in this episode. Un furioso Jesse Dayton cubre un viejo éxito clásico de Ray Price, distinto al country de los Independent Country o los Texas Hill, fuera de lo comercial y del éxito, no como los Legendary Shack Shakers con su multitud de géneros dentro del género. Esperemos que pronto Carly Pearce alcance el éxito que merece, éxito que ya disfruta Cody Jinks, un gran artista independiente con una gran base de fans que le siguen a todos los conciertos. An Americana and Rock & Roll' Soul', Christian Lopez joins Jamie on the show. The son of a music teacher, the West Virginia native was learning piano and guitar by the time he was in kindergarten, and he recorded his debut album, produced by Americana super-producer Dave Cobb (Jason Isbell, Chris Stapleton) when he was just 18. But on his new album The Other Side, Christian transcends all of those hot-shot titles to emerge a well-rounded and experienced artist. Join us as we connect with a unique artist, with a record that will be buzzing up the charts as we start 2022 and beyond. For more on Christian Lopez, visit: www.christianlopezmusic.com
Welcome to Insights, everyone. Today, our guest is West Virginia native and alternative-Americana artist Christian Lopez, a high-energy, whole-hearted performer whose new third studio album, The Other Side, was just released back in October. Lopez says that if he wants his music to last in the world, he has to stay as authentic as possible, and that means not compromising or being boxed in. That also applies to just being a human, he adds. Wherever that leads him, he's sure that'll be the place that he was meant to be, both musically and mentally. His new album was produced by Robert Adam Stevenson (who's worked with Jeff Beck, Queens Of The Stone-age, and Johnny Depp, to name a few), and we talk all about it in today's show. We recommend you buy his music, get out to his shows, and support his art, but for the next hour or so, kick back enjoy this exclusive conversation with Christian Lopez, right here on DittyTV.Part of Pantheon Podcasts

My guest today is Christian Lopez. We go deep talking about:The power of authenticity and self-awareness,Developing vulnerable, deep relationships with other men in your life,The wound that can be created when you tell a young boy “don't cry”,Christian's journey as a professional baseball player and how he dealt with the crushing blow of his career coming to an end,The trap of chasing fortune and fame,Why you're so much more than what you do, and how to shift your identity to who you are,Grieving the loss of a childhood dream,Gratitude and perspective,Dealing with huge expectations you set for yourself, andChristian's advice to “be the father that you want to be”Christian is a former professional athlete. But above all that, he is a son, a brother, a husband, an uncle and a vulnerable, emotional, kind, loving man. After his baseball career came to an end, he was lost.He had no idea what he wanted to do--and no idea who he was--without a baseball in his hand.He tried his hand at a few things--acting, firefighting, life coaching, public speaking--all without much success. Now, he finds himself back in sports and on the baseball field... but this time as coach Christian.Along his journey, he dove deep into himself and began to cultivate self-awareness and start to figure out who he is without the title of "professional athlete" or any other title. He dove into books, TED Talks, life coaching courses, podcasts, men's groups, meditation, journaling, yoga--anything that could get him past this feeling of failure and not being good enough. This led him to start blogging about his deep feelings that he had hidden for so long, then he started turning those feelings into conversations for his podcast Behind The Mask-ulinity.Now he's on a mission to inspire other men around the world to tap into their own true feelings--like fear, shame, insecurity, doubt, loneliness--and let them know that doing so isn't unmanly, on the contrary, it's one of the manliest things you can do.You can find Christian online at:Behind The Mask-ulinity Podcast: Apple | SpotifyInstagram: @clopey---Welcome to the Dad.Work Podcast! It's my goal every episode to help dads suffer less, love more, and parent confidently. We'll be diving into mindfulness practices, healing trauma, conscious parenting, natural living, compassionate communication, the spiritual aspect of fatherhood, and more. There are a lot of amazing teachers and guides who help men become more aware and conscious, but there's not a lot of resources for men who are both fathers and interested in a mindful exploration of consciousness and improvement. This podcast aims to help bridge that gap.Resources, Links, Show Notes:https://dad.work/pod/Join our Free Private FB Community for Conscious Fathers:https://dad.work/fb/Take The Course to Become A Conscious Father and Suffer Less, Love More, and Parent Confidently:https://dad.work/cf/

There are very few people who have an unstoppable mindset - the type of people you would trust in any situation regardless of what is going on. Christian Lopez is a financial analyst, college graduate, co-host of the Demi-God Chronicles, and self-improvement aficionado. He's one of the most well-read folks we've had on the podcast and I can't say enough about his presence and articulation. At the age of 8, Christian was separated from his mother and sister in a custody battle. He was forced to live with his father for 6 years, and in the cold winter of 2004, he began to experience life differently. Leaving Garfield, NJ to attend a catholic school in 2010, Christian's life began to open up in a positive way. He found himself striving on the football field and later attended Muhlenberg College to play football after high school. Ever Forward Club's Ashanti Branch is joined by Christian Lopez. As a former pro athlete, Christian has done the difficult work of rediscovering himself in order to understand what he can offer the world without the label of “pro athlete” hanging over him. When asked what he would like to be listed as his title or job title when we promote the podcast, he simply responded, “Vulnerable Man.” We hope you enjoy listening to this conversation with Christian, and learn what it takes to rediscover your identity and write the future of your own masculinity. (1:21) Ashanti's introduction. (5:17) Christian introduces himself - his origins, career, dreams, struggles, and journey to discover his purpose. (18:32) Ashanti and Christian break down why it is compelling to hear others' vulnerable stories. (23:37) Ashanti introduces the concept and origins of the mask activity, then Christian shares the front of his mask - confident, optimistic, kind. (27:12) Ashanti shares the front of his mask - serious, hard-working, caring - and how it affects how he runs the Ever Forward Club team. Christian shares how he uses the same strategies as a trainer, and Ashanti tells a story from his first year as a teacher. (34:17) Christian shares the back of his mask - fear, insecurity, shame. He analyzes how a lot of these feelings stem from failing to meet the benchmarks set by traditional masculine culture. (36:47) Ashanti shares the back of his mask - fear of…, sadness, brother's mental health. He discusses why his brother is most present on his mind. Then he and Christian speak about the power of enlisting help. (47:47) Christian and Ashanti discuss why it's important for our society to shed the “every man for himself” mindset. Christian personally shares how Cuban “machismo” culture and the environment around athletics are limiting. (53:47) Christian and Ashanti take an optimistic look at the future of manhood. (57:47) Christian shares how you can get in touch with him. --- Connect with Christian Lopez: Instagram: instagram.com/clopey Facebook: facebook.com/groups/2523230051072858 Podcast: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/behind-the-mask-ulinity/id1474423662 --- Create your own mask anonymously at www.100kmasks.com If you are interested in being on the Face to Face podcast, email us at everforwardclub@gmail.com --- Connect with Ashanti Branch: Instagram: instagram.com/branchspeaks Facebook: facebook.com/BranchSpeaks Twitter: twitter.com/BranchSpeaks LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/ashantibranch Website: branchspeaks.com --- Send in a voice message: anchor.fm/branch-speaks/message --- Connect with Ever Forward Club: Instagram: instagram.com/everforward Facebook: facebook.com/everforwardclub Twitter: twitter.com/everforwardclub LinkedIn: linkedin.com/company/the-ever-forward-club

For singer, songwriter and guitarist Christian Lopez, Nashville has become a home away from home. That's where he comes to write. He rehearses there with his band. His debut album and Red Arrow, his brand new follow-up for Blaster Records, were recorded in Music City too. But his heart? His long-term dream? Well, they're rooted someplace far away from Music Row, to the place where he was born and knows he will never leave. “I've dedicated 100% of my life and time to my music. I work on some aspect of it every day. But I also see myself back in West Virginia someday, with a house and a big yard where I can relax. And a dog too,” he adds quickly, with a laugh. “You could say that's the American Dream. For me, it's more specifically my West Virginian dream.” Recorded Dec. 2017 See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

I've grown up being scared of my emotions. I was told they were weak, "girly," so I suppressed them, especially the more heartfelt ones. Anger was OK though, since it was more fierce and powerful, but also dangerous. But as we know, all human beings are social, emotional beings at the core. We are meant to feel emotions, whether we like it or not, we'll feel things. And like anything, when you try to silence that voice, there are many consequences that result from that, i.e. shallow relationships, stagnant life, burnout in career, loss in integrity and direction, low self-confidence. Only when we identify what we're feeling specifically, get to the root cause of the issue, can we start developing the steps and strategies to know what to do with it. But if we leave our emotions clouded in vagueness, it will always feel overwhelming and difficult to deal with. This is why I love this conversation with former professional MLB player, fellow life coach, and motivational speaker, Christian Lopez about society's limited perspective on what it means to be a man. We talk about his story through manhood and how he's working on not only becoming the best man he could be, but human as well. ------------------------------------- Timestamps: [6:43] Christian's story [17:29] Get over fear by having bias towards action [26:59] How to manage emotions as men in judgmental environments [45:03] There are many definitions of a man [49:52] Everyone needs role models [57:00] How to take emotional risks without getting wounded [1:11:29] The 5 Core Emotions [1:21:46] What Christian's up to ------------------------------------- Resources: Christian's podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/behind-the-mask-ulinity/id1474423662. It's Gemini season stirring up the drama! We interview the cutest little gay power couple, Jason Caceres (Criminal Minds, Insatiable) & Christian Lopez (known for being a mover in the global beauty community) ⭐️ We chat about Scarlett Johansen’s new engagement, Adam Levine leaving the Voice, and the *serious* compatibility between Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn. Later, we jump into an in-depth look of the compatibility between Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton, as well as their exes Gavin Rossdale and Miranda Lambert.
On today's episode, I invite a friend and personal finance professional, Christian Lopez, to join me in discussing the topic of money. With the threat of automation on the port and with the middle class getting smaller and smaller everyday, we thought it was time for a serious discussion about money. Christian Lopez is a local financial professional, business owner and landlord here in San Pedro. At the age of 24 he bought his first home and now him and his wife own a few rental properties and have achieved impressive goals in their personal finance. You might have heard his wife, Stephanie Trevizo-Lopez, in episode 17, in which her and I had discussed the Tiny House movement and real estate investing. Christian and his team have a mission to reduce the local poverty level by 10%. In Christian's episode we focus more on money and the financial strategies that can help the families of the community get ahead. This episode is a general conversation about money but I believe it will be the first of many money related discussions on the podcast. Christian shares his background in the landscaping business where he really developed his work ethic. He remembers not enjoying his Saturdays like his friends because he had to go to work with his family. After high school he went to a trade school instead of the traditional college route which led him on a path to becoming a Jaguar Technician and eventually a Master Jaguar Technician. When the economy slowed down in 2008 he describes living paycheck to paycheck and watching his paychecks getting smaller. At this point he chose to go back to school and get his Bachelors degree in Project Management. Christian on achieving financial freedom : "'If you really want true financial freedom there's three things you got to have and that's some type of real estate (which is income property or things like that), paper assets, and you want to have a business." - Christian Lopez With the threat of automation on our Ports, with the redevelopment in the area driving up home prices, and with homelessness on the rise, it's kind of a scary time for San Pedrans. Christian and I discuss how to prepare for the worst and make sure our families are taken care of in this time of uncertainty. By - Joshua A. Swanson The glory will rain precipitously from the heavens for North Dakota State in today's nonconference showdown with upstart North Alabama. Swany is joined by Bison defensive tackles coach Nick Goeser, who details how critical it will be for the defensive front to contain the Lions dual threat quarterback, Christian Lopez. Luke Bacon, the senior starting guard for the Herd, is fresh off his bye-week hauling bails and working on the family farm back in Granville, North Dakota. Bacon explains how important it is for the rams to communicate before, during, and after each play. The show rounds out with Nolan Schmidt, the editor of Bison Illustrated , previewing the keys to the matchup , and Chase Miller and Swany taking a lap around the FCS and making their game predictions. It's all here, this week, on Herd it Hear with Swany! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Preseason polls aren't worth a hill of beans. North Dakota State's most difficult opponent in the nonconference slate was supposed to be Delaware. With the Blue Hens stumbling out of the gate, it's upstart North Alabama that comes to Fargo with a 2-0 record, including an impressive win over last year's defending Big Sky champ Southern Utah under its belt. Swany and Nolan dive into the Lions and their dual threat QB, Christian Lopez, who Bison head coach Chris Klieman described as an elusive player that can beat you with his arm and legs. How do the Bison contain Lopez, and will the Herd's rushing attack be just as dominate this week as it was in the opener two weeks ago. Here's a hint: YES. The firm of Anderson Dunn and Partners will have another big, big week! Happy days are here again, this week, on the Bison Illustrated Podcast!
By - Joshua A. Swanson North Alabama is in its first year of Division I football. So far, the going's been good. The Lions upset defending Big Sky co-champion Southern Utah 34 – 30 in the season opener, and hung on for another win last weekend against rival Alabama A&M, 25 – 20. The Lions are not lacking in confidence in anticipation of their trip to the Fargodome this weekend. For what it's worth, the Bison are 36.5 point favorites after their bye week. UNA is led by junior JUCO transfer quarterback Christian Lopez. The 6'1”, 200 pound Lopez is a dual threat QB that exploded in the season opener against the Thunderbirds for 350 yards passing, 3 passing TDs, while adding another 105 yards on the ground to go along with a rushing TD. At his Monday press conference, North Dakota State head coach Chris Klieman noted that SUU had trouble lining up on defense and accounting for Lopez, who was making his first start for the Lions. Taking nothing away from the Lions win, SUU may have been surprised by the up-tempo nature of UNA's offense having not seen Lopez on film in their system. The Bison can sympathize with SUU in that regard. The Herd faced a similar challenge in the 2015 season opener at Montana where the Grizzlies had a new head coach and offensive scheme, beating the Herd in Missoula. The playoffs, though, were another story. NDSU “adjusted” to the new look Griz and blew their doors off 37 – 6. Swany's Notes from Coach Klieman's presser: 1.Christian Watson, the redshirt freshman wide receiver from Tampa, Fla., wearing the No. 1 jersey, will likely make his Bison debut. After sitting out the opener with an injury, Klieman said Watson practiced last week. Watson is 6'3”, 193 pounds, and was on NDSU's two-deep depth chart this week along with Desmond Cain. 2.The Bison spent a lot of time during the bye-week practices following the Cal Poly game working on their passing game, and doing a lot of 7-on-7 drills. It's not because the Bison are concerned with the passing numbers in the opener. It's because the Bison didn't need to pass the ball against the Mustangs as they rushed for 458 yards, notched 7 rushing TDs, and averaged 10.2 yards per carry. Coach noted that whether the Bison go to the passing attack this week will be dictated by the flow of the game, but I expect some shots in the play-action passing game from Easton Stick driving the ball downfield. 3.On Lions QB Lopez, Coach described him as a dual threat guy that can beat you with his legs and arm. Lopez extended a lot of plays with his legs against SUU and when pressure came, was “elusive,” and has “moxy,” according to Coach. 4.The biggest series of the Cal Poly game was the second half defensive stand by the NDSU reserves after the Herd turned the ball over deep in their own territory. Coach praised the effort of defensive ends Spencer Waege, a redshirt freshman from South Shore, S.D., and Logan McCormick, from Appleton, Wisc. Even with an already deep defensive front, Coach said the Bison need to find a way to get those guys on the field they're that good. Talk about champagne problems. All kidding aside, NDSU's depth on the defensive, and offensive, fronts will be a big advantage against the Lions and other opponents during the weekly grind that is the Missouri Valley Football Conference. 5.Coach was excited for former Bison linebacker Chris Board, who, as an undrafted free agent, made the Baltimore Ravens 53-man regular season roster. The Ravens special teams coordinator/associate head coach, Jerry Rosburg, is a North Dakota State graduate and was an All-American for the Bison. Board had a tackle in the Ravens opening game win against Buffalo. Coach explained that it was Board's body of work on special teams during his time with NDSU that helped him make the Ravens after a strong senior season at linebacker. Klieman said Board played his best football during last season's FCS playoffs, where he made three or four critical plays in the championship game against James Madison that were the difference against the Dukes. Go back and watch JMU's final offensive drive and NDSU's defensive stand in the shadow of the end zone. Board knifed through blockers on a first down run to drop the Dukes running back for a loss, and on second down, blew up a swing pass to drop the JMU runner at the line of scrimmage. Tune in this Saturday morning from 8:00 – 9:00 for Herd it Hear with Swany on 740AM The Fan and 107.3fm to kick-start your Bison Game Day! You can check out last Saturday's show here ! Follow me on Twitter @swany8 , and let me know what you think of NDSU's match-up against UNA. As always, remember, the Strength of the Herd is the Bison, and the Strength of the Bison, is the Herd! By - Joshua A. Swanson I got those bye-week blues! Those no good, ain't no Bison game on today, don't know what I'm gonna do blues ... I hear you. A bye in Week 2 is as natural as a two-dollar bill or six legged elephant. No fear, friends. I've got you covered. We still had a show, and it's the perfect elixir to get you through the only Saturday between now and early January without Bison football (not counting a bye in the first round of the playoffs around Thanksgiving). Okay, maybe we're getting a bit ahead of ourselves, but you know what I mean. On this week's show, I had a chance to visit with NDSU offensive line coach Conor Riley. His group, the "rams," paved the way for 458 rushing yards in a 49-3 route of Cal Poly. The "machines," a/k/a, our running backs, toted the rock for an average 10.2 yards per carry and scored 7 touchdowns! We asked Coach Riley about the offensive line, the depth at the group, and what the coaches are looking for headed into next week's game against North Alabama. Nolan P. Schmidt, the editor-in-chief of Bison Illustrated, stopped by for his weekly cup of coffee and to relive a tough week in the Missouri Valley with Northern Iowa and Western Illinois both falling in Montana last week, and a HUGE game tonight in Brookings as the Jacks square off against Montana State. Chase Miller talks about NDSU's next opponent, North Alabama, and their dual threat QB, Christian Lopez, who had 456 total yards and 4 TDs in an upset win against defending Big Sky champ Southern Utah in Week 1. Wash away those bye-week blues with a tall glass of Herd it Hear with Swany, and check out my Bison Illustrated Podcast with Nolan for more great content! And, as always, remember, the Strength of the Herd is the Bison, and the Strength of the Bison is the Herd ! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

It's no wonder CHRISTIAN LOPEZ landed a record deal when he was just a freshman in college — his old-soul singing, playing, and writing abilities belie his youthful age. Now 22, Christian is touring his latest album, RED ARROW (Blaster Records), and recently, at the Los Angeles home of his girlfriend, actor SKYLER SHAYE, we sat down and jammed on several of his wonderful songs, and he explained to me how he constructed them. He also shared how he evolved from playing restaurant gigs as a teenager in the tiny town of Martinsburg, West Virginia, to becoming one of the hottest up-and-coming signed artists in Nashville. —JUDE GOLD, host, No Guitar Is Safe
