This is TRT World's Daily News Brief for Thursday, May 8th. Pakistan shoots down Indian jets as tensions soar "To calm tensions between the two arch-rivals India and Pakistan, world leaders have urged them to stop fighting. US President Donald Trump called for both nations to cease hostilities, while Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan offered diplomatic support to de-escalate the situation. Pakistan has said Indian strikes resulted in the deaths of 31 Pakistani civilians and injuries to 57 others, vowing to respond. It also said its air force brought down five Indian fighter jets and one drone in an act of ""self-defence” — including three Rafale aircraft." Israel kills over 50 Palestinians in continued Gaza bombardment "At least 54 Palestinians were killed and dozens more wounded in fresh Israeli air strikes across Gaza, according to medics. In Al-Tuffah, 16 Palestinians were killed in Israeli shelling of a school-turned-shelter, while 22 others were killed in an attack on a market in Gaza City. Further casualties occurred in Khan Younis, Bani Suhaila and various refugee camps. Gaza's government media office confirmed that Israel has targeted over 234 shelters. Total blockade on Gaza has caused severe famine among Palestinians, with the world urging Tel Aviv to allow aid to flow. Israel has killed over 52,600 people in the Palestinian enclave, mostly women and children, since October 7, 2023. " US court blocks Trump admin's transfer bid for detained Turkish student "A federal appeals court has ordered the transfer of Turkish doctoral student Rumeysa Ozturk from an immigration jail in Louisiana to a court in Vermont, where a bail hearing is scheduled for May 9. Ozturk was arrested in March after co-authoring a critical op-ed on Israel's genocidal war on Gaza. The ruling rejects the Trump administration's attempt to block her transfer. Ozturk's legal team argues her detention violates free speech rights." Russia declares ceasefire with Ukraine during Victory Day "Russia declares a unilateral ceasefire lasting until midnight on 11 May, marking the 80th anniversary of Victory Day, a national holiday, commemorating the 1945 defeat of Nazi Germany in World War II. President Vladimir Putin's move to pause hostilities during the national holiday met resistance from Kiev. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejected the initiative and warned foreign dignitaries against attending Moscow's celebrations, citing safety concerns. The Kremlin hit back, labelling the warning a “threat,” while spokesman Dmitry Peskov vowed a “swift and effective” military response to any breach by Ukraine." Black smoke rises again as Vatican delays papal decision "Tension runs high in Vatican City as black smoke once again billowed from the Sistine Chapel, signalling no decision yet on the next pope. The 133 cardinals, the most diverse group ever assembled, began their second day of secret voting Thursday. With no clear favourite, speculation swirls—from Italy's Pizzaballa to Sri Lanka's Ranjith. As Catholic pilgrims crowd St Peter's Square, hope lingers as the Christian world awaits the white smoke that will herald the 267th pontiff."
PRESS REVIEW – Tuesday, March 25: The press decries a massive security breach after a journalist for The Atlantic is accidentally included on a group chat for Yemen war plans. Also: Colorado state officials take down a portrait of Donald Trump after he complains it is unflattering. The Oscar-winning Palestinian director of "No Other Land" is attacked and arrested in the West Bank. Plus: we look at the creepiest contender in The Guardian's invertebrate of the year competition! In The Atlantic, editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg describes how he was accidentally sent the details of military strikes in Yemen. The journalist was added to a group chat called "Houthi PC small group" alongside JD Vance, Pete Hegseth and Marco Rubio among others. At first, Goldberg says, it seemed so surreal he thought it was a disinformation campaign. But he realised it was real when the bombs started falling. Foreign Policy describes the incident as horrifying. The mistake is sparking outrage from both sides of the political spectrum. The National Review asks Who's Getting Fired for This? The right-wing magazine was quick to point the finger at Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth. The New York Times, called for the same, headlining: If Pete Hegseth Had any Honor, He Would Resign.Staying in the US, The Washington Post brings us the story that a Trump portrait in Colorado is being taken down after he ranted about it on social media. Donald Trump took to Truth Social to complain about the painting. The Guardian says Republicans have called it "petty" whilst Democrats have called Trump an "insecure baby". The portrait will be removed from Colorado's state capitol building, but it could be replaced with a portrait from Russia. The BBC says that although Trump was not happy with the Colorado portrait, he does seem chuffed by the one Putin sent earlier, "a personal gift" according to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov. The Washington Post also brings us a story from the Palestinian territories. Hamdan Ballal, one of the directors of the Oscar-winning documentary "No Other Land", has been attacked by a group of Jewish settlers and later arrested by the Israeli army. "No Other Land" recounts the destruction of a Palestinian community in the occupied West Bank which had been resisting forced displacement. Finally, The Guardian has announced its shortlist for invertebrate of the year. The frontrunner is Cymothoa exigua, a tongue-biting louse that lurks in the Pacific Ocean. When it comes across a fish it burrows into their tongue. But that's only the beginning. It then sucks the blood of the fish but doesn't kill it. Much worse, it turns itself into a tongue to feed it and keep it alive. Stranger still, the parasites start off male, but turn female once inside the tongue. They then prevent any other newcomers from turning female by excreting hormones, and then mate with whichever date they find lying around inside the gills of the fish. While Cymothoa exigua is presumably hoping to win the prize this year, nine other invertebrates have made the shortlist. You can catch our press review every morning on France 24 at 7:20am and 9:20am (Paris time), from Monday to Friday.

During the night of March 7, Russian forces carried out a concerted bombing campaign against Ukraine's energy facilities. The acts were widely condemned by the international community, including U.S. President Donald Trump, who wrote on social media that he was "strongly considering large scale sanctions" based on the attack and urged both parties to the negotiating table. At the same time, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that Ukraine's energy infrastructure is a legitimate target because it is "linked with Ukraine's military industrial complex and weapons production." Trump was right to call out Russia's attack and threaten sanctions, for several reasons. First, in diplomatic terms it created at least a slight veneer of even-handedness after his dressing down of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House last week, as well as his seeming alignment with Russian President Vladimir Putin in what is clearly a war of aggression in which Putin has committed the majority of war crimes. But second, international law demands calling out this particular conduct as worthy of reproach, because contrary to what Peskov claimed, a country's energy infrastructure does not become a legitimate military target just because it supports both civilian and military uses. International humanitarian law draws a clear distinction between civilian objects such as schools and hospitals, and military objectives that are meant to make an "effective contribution to military action." While the law is ambiguous in situations where a civilian object is being used in such a way as to make a direct military contribution to war, even then targeting of that object is subject to the principle of proportionality, by which harm to civilians must be weighed against military necessity. Moreover, targeting civilian objects for the purpose of terrorizing civilians is a war crime. While an argument could be made that attacks on energy infrastructure that result in power outages for a limited period of time are not comparable to collateral damage from kinetic attacks, this is clearly not the case during winter, when civilians are heavily dependent on that infrastructure for indoor heating. Moreover, such arguments generally don't take into account the knock-on effects of such strikes for the civilian population, such as the health implications of household refrigerators, municipal water sanitation systems and hospital medical equipment all losing access to power. In short, even if the language of humanitarian law makes occasional exceptions for military necessity that clearly outweighs the harm to civilians, such cases are rare. And those loopholes do not easily cover the kind of massive attacks on civilian infrastructure carried out by Russia, which would appear to instead be calculated to "spread terror among the civilian population." These rules were developed after World War II, when entire cities were burned to the ground based on the logic that they contained factories used to build munitions, thereby making them and all the civilians in them a military target. But as the postwar push to expand international humanitarian law recognized, if the fact that a civilian mobilization or infrastructure also supports a war effort transforms it into a target, the military-civilian distinction itself begins to break down. Rather, the International Committee of the Red Cross has postulated a more specific standard on the definition of "direct participation in hostilities" as applied to civilians, in which the burden of proof is on belligerents to prove beyond a doubt that any such instance meets that standard. When in doubt, under Article 52(3) of Additional Protocol 1 to the Geneva Convention, an object shall be assumed to be of a civilian character. The argument that "dual use" infrastructure constitutes a legitimate military target is often used as justification by states claiming the legal right to engage in such attacks. It's worth underscoring...
*Qatar calls for safeguards for all Israeli nuclear facilities Qatar reiterated its call for intensified international efforts Saturday to subject all of Israel's nuclear facilities to the safeguards of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Qatar's Ambassador Jasim Yacoub Al Hammadi highlighted “the need for the international community and its institutions to uphold their commitments under resolutions of the UN Security Council, which called on Israel to subject all of its nuclear facilities to IAEA safeguards.” He also highlighted “the urgency for the international community and its institutions to take decisive action to compel Israel to implement international resolutions, recognise the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state. *Russia says France has repeatedly lied Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has accused France of lying and violating international agreements, including the implementation of the Minsk agreements for a settlement in Ukraine and violated security guarantees given to Viktor Yanukovych, a former Ukrainian president. He stressed: "France, like other countries, didn't fulfill its guarantees. It was a real lie," adding that when French President Emmanuel Macron accused Russia of posing a threat to Europe, he did not mention France's mistakes. The Minsk Agreements were meant to resolve the Crimea crisis in 2014, as well as Eastern Ukraine. *Arab League denounces attack on security forces in Syria The Arab League condemned acts of violence and attacks on government security forces to fuel internal tensions and threaten civil peace in Syria. It expressed "condemnation of violence, attacks on government security forces, and reckless killings, threaten civil peace, and exacerbate the challenges Syria is facing at this critical stage." The Arab League emphasised that "such circumstances require a focus on policies and measures that strengthen and safeguard stability and civil peace to thwart any plans aimed at destabilising Syria and undermining its chances for recovery." *North Korea unveils nuclear-powered submarine for the first time North Korea has unveiled for the first time a nuclear-powered submarine under construction, a weapons system that can pose a major security threat to South Korea and the US. The naval vessel appears to be a 6,000-ton-class or 7,000-ton-class one which can carry about 10 missiles, South Korean submarine expert said, adding the use of the term “the strategic guided missiles” meant it would carry nuclear-capable weapons. *Un warns South Sudan's peace process at risk amid growing violence A recent surge in violence and escalating political tensions in South Sudan are putting a fragile peace process in jeopardy, a UN human rights commission warned. "We are witnessing an alarming regression that could erase years of hard-won progress," Yasmin Sooka, chairperson of the UN Commission on Human Rights in South Sudan, said. She urged leaders to "urgently refocus on the peace process, uphold the human rights of South Sudanese citizens, and ensure a smooth transition to democracy."
Russia agreed to assist President Donald Trump’s administration in communicating with Iran on issues including the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program and its support for regional anti-US proxies, according to people familiar with the situation.Trump relayed that interest directly to President Vladimir Putin in a phone call in February and top officials from his administration discussed the matter with their Russian counterparts at talks in Saudi Arabia days later, people familiar with the matter in Moscow said, declining to be identified because of the sensitivity of the issue. White House officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Neither Russia nor Iran have publicly confirmed or denied the request. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in response to questions sent by Bloomberg that “Russia believes that the United States and Iran should resolve all problems through negotiations” and that Moscow “is ready to do everything in its power to achieve this.” A spokesman for Iran’s foreign ministry, when asked if Russia had offered to mediate between Tehran and Washington, said only it was “natural” for countries to offer their assistance. “Given the significance of these matters, it’s possible that many parties will show good will and readiness to help with various problems,” the spokesman, Esmaeil Baghaei, said during a televised press conference Monday in Tehran. “From this perspective, it’s natural that countries will present an offer of help if it’s needed.” The ministry didn’t respond to questions from Bloomberg News. Since taking office about six weeks ago, Trump has tried to restore relations with President Vladimir Putin, which the US severed after Russia’s 2022 full-scale invasion of Ukraine. As Trump seeks to broker an end to that war directly with Putin — including a Feb. 12 phone call between the two leaders — both sides have signaled they’re open to cooperating on other geopolitical interests, including trade routes and resources in the Arctic. Top US and Russian officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, discussed Washington’s interest in Moscow helping with Iranian issues, during a Feb. 18 meeting in Riyadh, according to people with knowledge of the situation, asking not to be identified as not all details of those talks have been made public. Russia’s Lavrov later shared details about the US meeting with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi when they met in Tehran, Araghchi said in a televised press conference after the meeting.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Tucker Carlson has been at the center of significant controversy following his recent accusations against the Joe Biden administration. During the latest episode of his podcast, "The Tucker Carlson Show," Carlson made the sensational claim that the Biden administration attempted to assassinate Russian President Vladimir Putin. He stated, "The Biden administration did, they tried to kill Putin," which he described as "insane" and "demented." Carlson also suggested that this alleged attempt was part of a broader strategy to start World War III and sow chaos, citing former US Secretary of State Tony Blinken as an example of someone pushing for a real war. This assertion has sparked widespread criticism and controversy, as it lacks any concrete evidence to support it. Carlson's comments were made during a conversation with American writer and journalist Matt Taibbi, and they have further intensified the debate around Carlson's influence on media and politics. The Kremlin has reacted to Carlson's claim, with spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stating that Russian special services are constantly taking necessary measures to ensure Putin's safety. The Biden administration has not yet responded to these accusations.Carlson's recent remarks are part of a larger pattern of criticism against US military aid to Ukraine and his echoing of Kremlin talking points. He has also faced criticism for his previous statements, including describing Ukraine as "not a democracy" but rather a "tyranny" in American terms. In addition to these controversies, Carlson is also involved in new media ventures. He and former White House adviser Neil Patel are working to establish a new media company, which may utilize Twitter as its backbone. The company aims to raise hundreds of millions of dollars to fund its operations, with plans to offer extended content behind a paywall.Carlson's career has been marked by significant changes, including his ousting from Fox News in 2023 due to the network's legal issues related to the broadcast of false claims about electoral fraud in the 2020 US presidential election.Overall, Tucker Carlson's recent statements have reignited discussions about his influence on media and politics, highlighting the divisive nature of his commentary and the ongoing debates surrounding his role in public discourse.Thank you for listening to the Tucker Carlson news tracker podcast. I may be the only voice in America warning that we could be in a limited nuclear war with Russia before Christmas. I don't like what I am seeing in news headlines today. Unfortunately, the overwhelming majority of American citizens have no idea how close we are to a nuclear nightmare. Russia's defense ministry said on Wednesday that Ukraine fired six American-made, American-paid ATACM missiles into a Russia air force base in southern Russia. Russian military officials said they would respond. Today, Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov reiterated the promise that Russia would respond to the attack.Rick Wiles, Doc Burkhart. Donald Trump is Backing Putin and Selling Out Ukrainians. My guest is Volodymyr Dubovyk, a Senior Fellow at CEPA. In South Korea this week, the specter of authoritarianism briefly materialized when Prime Minister Yoon declared martial law. Although it lasted only hours, Yoon may have felt encouraged by the incoming Trump administration. While democratic forces prevailed in South Korea this time, Ukraine's situation is very different. In Kyiv, we witnessed something previously unthinkable: Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who has steadfastly maintained Ukraine's right to complete territorial integrity since Russia's invasion, appeared to blink against Putin. Zelenskyy's new apparent openness to the temporary Russian occupation of Ukrainian territory marks a dramatic shift in position—one that reveals both the mounting pressure on Ukraine's military and democracy and the growing recognition of the evaporating Western resolve. The Trump administration is stumbling over itself in floating peace proposals that align with Russian interests, even before potentially taking office. They even dispatched their new advisor to the Kremlin, only to be dismissed by Putin's spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov. However, this dismissal wasn't a rejection of diplomacy but a calculated message. Why rush to negotiate when military realities and global dynamics increasingly favor Russian objectives? It seems unavoidable that we will march into 2025 in a manner reminiscent of how the world marched into Munich in 1938. Just as Chamberlain convinced himself that sacrificing part of Czechoslovakia might satisfy Hitler's ambitions, we are watching the potential next U.S. administration craft peace proposals that would effectively validate Putin's territorial conquests. Get used to it, folks—we're witnessing a seismic shift in the global democratic order. It's the first time we've sacrificed the principles of territorial integrity and democratic self-determination, which are the cornerstones of the post-World War II international system. These principles are being reconsidered in real time. So yes, elections have consequences, and these developments do not make one feel very good. However, there is a lesson in the events that just happened in South Korea: it took a unanimous vote of parliament and some street protests, but martial law only lasted six hours, and now Yoon faces impeachment. Putin may feel emboldened by recent events and by Zelenskyy's apparent concession, but he is still facing the resolve of the Ukrainian people. When people stand up to these paper strongmen, they are often defeated. When the rule of law is maintained, strongmen will back down. When the American people apply pressure—publicly and through the media—we too can urge Donald Trump to protect the people of Ukraine and never surrender. Learn more about your ad choices. Iscriviti e segui "Notizie dall'Ucraina": YouTube: https://bit.ly/3FqWppn Spreaker: https://bit.ly/42g2ONG Apple Podcasts: https://apple.co/3JE1OMi Spotify: https://spoti.fi/40bpm0v Amazon Music: https://amzn.to/40HVQ37 Audible: https://bit.ly/4370ARc I podcast Adnkronos: Eurofocus: https://www.adnkronos.com/speciali/eurofocus_europa/ Fa notizia da 60 anni: https://www.adnkronos.com/speciali/adnkronos60_podcast/ Aggiungi contatto: https://www.adnkronos.com/speciali/aggiungi_contatto/ Notizie dall'Ucraina: https://www.adnkronos.com/speciali/notizie_ucraina/ Israele sotto attacco: https://www.adnkronos.com/speciali/israele_sotto_attacco/ Le Storie, La Storia: https://www.adnkronos.com/speciali/le_storie_la_storia/ Sanremo Express: https://www.adnkronos.com/speciali/sanremo_podcast_2024 Resta in contatto con noi: https://www.adnkronos.com/ https://x.com/Adnkronos https://www.facebook.com/AgenziaAdnKronos https://www.instagram.com/adnkronos_/ Ph: AFP Musiche su licenza Machiavelli Music.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Monday referred journalists to a statement made by Russian President Vladimir Putin in September, in which he said allowing Ukraine to target Russia would significantly raise the stakes in the conflict. It would change “the very nature of the conflict dramatically,” Putin said at the time. “This will mean that NATO countries — the United States and European countries — are at war with Russia.” There you have it, here on Day 1,708 of 15 Days To Flatten The Curve. On this episode of the Prophecy News Podcast, US President Joe Biden only has another 63 days left in the White House, and his handlers are making him do lots of stuff as his time winds down. Over the weekend he appeared in the Amazon rain forest to give speech on climate change, and watched the locals offer up prayers to their gods. He ominously intoned that “no one can stop the revolution that's coming”, referring to the clean energy takeover of the fossil fuel industry. Biden also changed US policy towards Ukraine's use of US long-range missiles, greatly complicating the playing field that Donald Trump will find himself on in a little over two months from now. If you were hoping that a Donald Trump presidency would solve all out problems, you might be surprised to find out how things are actually going to go. All this and more on today's Prophecy News Podcast!

" Sono state conversazioni belle e molto importanti. Colloqui volti a rafforzare ulteriormente la forte alleanza tra Israele e Stati Uniti", ha spiegato Netanyahu. E' ancora troppo presto per definire i primi passi di Trump per tentare di fermare i conflitti tra Russia e Ucraina e in Medio Oriente. Nella realtà dura dello scontro militare ed economico in atto si capirà se le promesse elettorali del tycoon si tramuteranno in spiragli di pace oppure resteranno mera demagogia per ingannare gli elettori. *) Israel took institutions protecting peace, human rights hostage — Erdogan Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan criticised Israel, saying it has taken "hostage" all institutions meant to uphold peace, human rights, and democracy. Speaking in Ankara, Erdogan accused Israel of blinding global structures like the UN Security Council with “Zionist delusions.” Erdogan expressed disappointment over the lack of response from the Islamic world regarding Gaza, saying, “We couldn't prevent 50,000 of our brothers and sisters from getting torn apart in the killing machine of the Zionist regime.” He condemned the global silence on Gaza as “shameful” for humanity, pointing to worsening conditions under intense bombardment. *) Lebanon PM hopes for ceasefire with Israel in 'coming hours or days' Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati announced efforts to secure a ceasefire in Israel's war on Lebanon “within hours or days,” expressing cautious optimism in an interview with Al Jadeed. Rescuers expect to recover more bodies in what is now Spain's deadliest flood in over 50 years, with three days of national mourning starting on Thursday. Heavy rain and winds have battered Spain since early this week, with some areas experiencing nearly a year's rainfall in hours due to a storm over the Mediterranean. *) Ukraine, Russia in talks on halting strikes on energy facilities: report Ukraine and Russia have reportedly started preliminary talks to pause air strikes on each other's energy infrastructure, according to the Financial Times, which cited sources including senior Ukrainian officials. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov dismissed the report, claiming there was widespread fake news, even in what he called "the most reputable media." *) 4,000-year-old ancient oasis town discovered in Saudi Arabia Archaeologists have uncovered a 4,000-year-old fortified town in an oasis in Saudi Arabia, offering insights into the shift from nomadic to urban life in the region. Edition No57 | 16-10-2024 - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has accused North Korea of sending military personnel to Russia. And judging by the media coverage, this is not seen as a big deal. It may be worth spelling that out. Iranian drones batter Ukrainian cities, killing civilians daily. Approximately half the three million artillery shells Russia uses annually come from North Korea. And now North Korea is sending its own troops to invade European territory. This is not hyperbole, or clickbait. North Korea is literally involved in the invasion of a sovereign European democracy, involved in the slaughter of innocent European civilians, and apparently neither the media nor our esteemed leaders seem to give a rat's arse about it. Is this the moment where history will judge that Western democracy faltered and failed? ~~~~~ SILICON CURTAIN FILM FUNDRAISER A project to make a documentary film in Ukraine, to raise awareness of Ukraine's struggle and in supporting a team running aid convoys to Ukraine's frontline towns. https://buymeacoffee.com/siliconcurtain/extras ~~~~~ Russia has said it signed a treaty with North Korea that provides “strategic cooperation” in all areas. Further it adds for the avoidance of doubt, that the deal with North Korea is ‘unambiguous'. The treaty includes a mutual assistance clause, in which each side committed to help resist external aggression. That's an interesting commitment, when Russia is struggling to retake its own territories in the Kursk oblast. Putin signed the treaty with North Korea earlier this year but did not explain how it might be put into practice. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was asked whether the treaty obliged Russia to back North Korea in a conflict and he said the wording of the agreement was “quite unambiguous.” And involves “truly strategic deep cooperation in all areas, including security. ~~~~~ SUPPORT THE CHANNEL: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/siliconcurtain https://www.patreon.com/siliconcurtain ~~~~~ NEWS SOURCES: https://kyivindependent.com/russia-plans-to-involve-north-korea-in-war-in-ukraine-this-fall-zelensky-says/ https://kyivindependent.com/north-korea-has-sent-10-000-soldiers-to-russia-western-source-says/ https://euromaidanpress.com/2024/10/15/us-official-north-korean-troops-in-ukraine-would-show-russian-desperation/ https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/us-concerned-by-reports-north-korean-soldiers-fighting-russia-2024-10-15/ https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/ukraine-russia-war-updates-map-putin-north-korea-soldiers-b2629954.html https://kyivindependent.com/thaad/ ~~~~~ USEFUL LINKS: Vatnik Soup https://twitter.com/P_Kallioniemi http://www.medbat.org.ua/en/ Real World News https://kyivindependent.com/ https://www.kyivpost.com/ https://english.nv.ua/ https://www.themoscowtimes.com/ https://meduza.io/en https://meduza.io/ https://novayagazeta.eu/ https://www.newsweek.com/topic/russia... SERIES 3 EPISODE 46: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:44) SPECIAL COMMENT: I think Vladimir Putin just sent Trump two not-very-carefully coded messages and to borrow the stylings of Vice President Harris, one began with the letter F and the other began with the letter U. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov – as I assume you know – has confirmed to Bloomberg that Bob Woodward's book is RIGHT, that Trump DID send tests and testing machines early in the Covid nightmare of 2020, but, quoting Peskov, “but about the phone calls – it's not true.” Putin just outed Trump as a liar. Twice. In different directions. Confirming what he wanted denied; denying what he wanted confirmed. NOT BAD FOR 81 DAYS: Kamala Harris has raised a billion dollars since becoming the presidential candidate. That's more than Trump has raised in ALL of 2024. Harris's figure is just since the afternoon of July 21. New polling: Republicans and Independents who had supported Nikki Haley and Trump is only getting 45 percent of them and Kamala Harris is getting 36 percent. Lemmings gonna lemming, of course. But the interesting number here is that in the 2020 election these same voters had gone for Trump by 59 to 28. HOW DO YOU NOT LISTEN TO HISTORY? Even in an America in which Trump's all-too-obvious affection for Hitler and the Nazis is exceeded by the psychoses of so many of his supporters, it would seem to be obvious that the last thing that even Pro-Nazi Trumpists would want to do would be to invoke February 20th, 1939 and the German-American Bund rally at Madison Square Garden in New York. It didn't go exactly as the Nazis planned. The Garden was surrounded by ONE HUNDRED thousand ANTI-Nazi protestors who three times nearly broke lines manned by 2500 police. As it was, the Nazi presence in New York received fatal damage when a former Navy officer, now plumber's assistant named Isadore Greenbaum sneaked inside the Garden and able to contain his rage no longer, rushed the stage. The Nazis didn't know what to do and after a few flailed punches at Greenbaum, a handful of police stopped all of them and pulled Greenbaum out. So what have Trump and reprobate garbage Garden/Knicks/Rangers owner James Dolan scheduled for October 27? A NEW Trump-Nazi rally at the new Madison Square Garden. Trump hopes 20,000 will attend. Has he or this idiot Dolan considered how many people will be outside the Garden THIS time? B-Block (22:32) IN SPORTS: My first boss Sam Rosen was just named the winner of the Lester Patrick Award for service to hockey in this country (he had already been made a saint for having survived BEING my first boss) (26:29) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Maria Bartiromo is thrown when a Republican congressman accidentally tells the truth about FEMA. Marco Rubio wants you to believe the urgency of what the government is telling you. Just today, mind you. Not last week. And Jesse Watters calls Trump nihilist Stephen Miller a "sexual matador" and Miller explains that to attract women, men "should wear their Trump support on their sleeve." You mean like an armband? C-Block (37:00) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: We take a break from news of my ex Kyrsten Sinema or my ex Laura Ingraham or my ex Olivia Nuzzi to discuss my ex Katy Tur, whose husband is in the news. He's Tony Dokoupil and I can't tell if CBS News is about to fire him or make him Chief Operating Officer. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the project will create an investment potential of about Rs 1.52 lakh crore. The Kremlin announced on Wednesday that India's position on a peaceful resolution for the Ukraine conflict aligns with Russia's worldview. According to a Reuters report, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that while Russia supports India's advocacy for a peaceful settlement, it is "more than obvious" that there is no basis for negotiations at the moment. Peskov also dismissed Ukrainian President Zelenskyy's proposed plan to end the conflict, asserting that Russia would continue its "special military operation" in Ukraine. This was the Catchup on 3 Things by The Indian Express.
Russian President Vladimir Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov has called the United States an enemy state. His remarks came in response to a claim made by a former American intelligence officer, who was barred from travelling to Russia allegedly on instructions of the US State Department. Russian media has reported that neither Putin nor Kremlin has ever referred to the US as an enemy of Russia. Meanwhile, Vladimir Putin has warned Western nations that he could arm other countries with weapons to attack them. This comes days after US President Joe Biden allowed Ukraine to strike inside Russia with American weapons.

It's Tuesday, May 7th, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson Pakistani Muslims attacked Christian family Last month, a Pakistani Christian, Ashraf Yousaf, and his two brothers and two sisters were attacked by Muslim neighbors in the Punjab District. The Muslim attackers confiscated their wheat crop. Thus far, the police have done nothing to help them. In fact, their attackers have filed charges against the Christian family. Ashraf told The Christian Post that “We have lost everything: our livelihood, our money, and most of all, the hope of getting justice.” Russian saber rattling More saber rattling from Russia this week. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced that the Russian Defense Ministry will conduct tactical nuclear weapons drills in the near future. This comes after what the Russians referred to as “provocative statements and threats against Russia [made by certain Western officials.]” The tests involve any or all deployments short of a nuclear explosion. England sends $4 billion to Ukraine Late last week, British Foreign Secretary David Cameron promised Ukraine $4 billion of annual support for the war, reports Reuters. He acknowledged the weapons could be used to strike targets inside of Russia. Warren Buffet addressed his mortality The sixth richest man in the world spoke to his own mortality at the Berkshire Hathaway annual meeting in Omaha, reports CNBC. Warren Buffet, age 94, told the gathering that “I shouldn't be taking on any four-year employment contracts, like several people are doing in this world, at an age when you can't be quite that sure where you're going to be in four years.” Buffet's foundation: The largest single abortion funder Warren Buffet and his foundation, named after his late wife, constitutes the most powerful non-governmental, pro-abortion advocate in the world. Indeed, Forbes.com lists the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation as “the largest single donor supporting abortion rights in the U.S.” According to the World Health Organization's Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation provides half a billion dollars per year to pro-abortion causes. That's about equivalent to the entire U.S .government funding of Planned Parenthood. And 20 times the income of the five largest pro-life groups in America — 40 Days for Life, Americans United for Life, Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, National Right to Life, and American Life League. Psalm 37:35-36 speaks of this. “I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a native green tree. Yet he passed away, and behold, he was no more. Indeed, I sought him, but he could not be found.” Survey: Disney should return to wholesome programming The Rasmussen Reports national survey discovered that 71% of American adults agree with the statement that, “Disney should return to wholesome programming and allow parents to decide when their children are taught about sexuality.” Only 22% disagree with the statement. Also, the survey found that only 33% of Republicans view Disney in a favorable light, and only 46% of Americans overall have a favorable view of Disney. Nonetheless, this seemingly impregnable entertainment giant's annual revenues topped $89 billion in Fiscal Year 2023, up from $83 billion in FY 2022, and $67 billion in FY 2020. Saudi Arabian bank loans money to anti-“gay” Uganda First, the World Bank suspended loans for the nation of Uganda because of its stand against homosexuality. And now, Uganda's government has announced obtaining a sizable loan of $295 million for infrastructure from Saudi Arabia's Islamic Development Bank, reports Reuters. Indeed, over the last decade, Arabic countries have invested $100 billion into Africa. In addition, over the last two decades, China has invested $170 billion into Africa. Pro-homosexual “mainline” Protestant denominations are dying Pro-homosexual religious denominations in the U.S. have lost membership. The United Methodists have dropped from 11 million to 5.4 million, with only 1.5 million attending in 2022. The Presbyterian Church USA has dropped from 4.5 million to 1.1 million as of 2022. And the Evangelical Lutheran Church has dropped from 5.6 million to 2.9 million, with only 500,000 attending weekly. In total, only 3 million remain attending these mainline denominations. That's just 1% of the U.S. population, compared to 21% of Americans who claim to be Evangelical. As The Worldview reported on May 2nd, the United Methodist General Assembly struck down its longtime ban on homosexual clergy last week by a vote of 447 to 233. It also removed the ban on performing faux weddings for homosexual men and lesbian women living in unnatural relations with one another, by a vote of 479 to 203. In John 15:5-6, Jesus said, “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.” Gun jams when church gunman attempts to kill pastor And finally, during a Pennsylvania church worship service on Sunday, a gunman stepped into the aisle, took aim at the pastor, and pulled the trigger. But, by the mercies of God, the gun jammed, and several congregants tackled 26-year-old Bernard Junior Polite, reports CNN. It's not clear why the suspect tried to shoot the pastor. In fact, Pastor Glenn Germany said he had never seen the gunman before. Pastor Germany said he was “thankful to God that I'm still here, because he definitely pulled the trigger.” GERMANY: “I forgive him for what he did. I just mainly thank God that nobody got hurt.” Close And that's The Worldview in 5 Minutes on this Tuesday, May 7th in the year of our Lord 2024. *) UNGA president warns another phase of a humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza ‘is at our doorstep' The president of the UN General Assembly expressed grave concern over Israel's assault on the city of Rafah in the southern besieged Gaza. Dennis Francis said on X that he was “deeply distressed by the escalating military operation into Rafah,” where over a million civilians were already sheltering in the most dire conditions. Francis said “another phase of this humanitarian catastrophe” was “at our doorstep” and that this was “not a path to sustainable peace.” *) Egypt hits back at Israeli minister Smotrich's ‘disgraceful' remarks The diplomatic tensions between Egypt and Israel escalated following controversial remarks made by Israel's far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich. Egypt's foreign ministry condemned as “disgraceful” and “irresponsible” comments by Smotrich who claimed Cairo has “considerable responsibility” for Hamas's October 7 attack. In a statement, Egyptian foreign ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said, “Egypt fully controls its territory, and does not allow any party to involve Egypt's name in failed attempts to justify its own shortcomings.” *) Kremlin, Musk deny Russian army using Starlink Both the Kremlin and Elon Musk rejected Ukraine's claims that Russian troops fighting on the frontline were using Starlink internet terminals. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters that Starlink could not be “officially supplied” in Russia and thus “it cannot be officially used here in any way.” Musk also rejected Kiev's claims, saying his “companies have probably done more to undermine Russia than anything.” *) Qatar frees eight ex-Indian officers after dropping death sentences Qatar released eight Indian ex-naval officers after dropping their death sentences, India's foreign ministry said. The men were charged with spying for Israel, according to sources, though India and Qatar did not confirm the charges. Their death sentence, handed down in October, was dropped in December. The Indian foreign ministry credited the Qatari emir for the decision more than 18 months after their arrest challenged diplomatic ties between the two countries. And finally… *) Biden joining TikTok causes stir over national security concerns US President Joe Biden's debut on TikTok has caused a stir — not least because the Chinese-owned social media platform is still officially considered a security risk by Washington. Republicans criticised Biden for using an app that is banned on US federal government devices over fears it harvests data for Beijing. Even the White House admitted it still had concerns about TikTok.

We start today off with world news as Ukraine and Russia are playing a game of he did it - he did it. https://www.foxnews.com/world/ukraine-russia-accuse-each-other-planning-imminent-attack-europes-largest-nuclear-plant Ukraine, Russia accuse each other of planning imminent attack against Europe's largest nuclear plant Ukraine and Russia have accused each other of planning an imminent attack against one of the world's largest nuclear plants. In a video address Tuesday night, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy alleged that information from Ukrainian intelligence officials shows the "Russian military has placed objects resembling explosives on the roof of several power units" of the Za-po-ree-zia Nuclear Power Plant – located in southeastern Ukraine and occupied by Russian troops. The "foreign objects" were placed on the roof of the plant's third and fourth power units, according to a statement from the General Staff of Ukraine’s armed forces. "Their detonation should not damage power units but may create a picture of shelling from Ukraine," the statement said. In Russia, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov raised the specter of a potentially "catastrophic" provocation by the Ukrainian army at the nuclear plant, which is Europe’s largest but has its six reactors shut down. It still needs power and qualified staff to operate crucial cooling systems and other safety features. Over the last year, the U.N.'s atomic watchdog repeatedly expressed alarm over the possibility of a radiation catastrophe like the one at Chernobyl, where a reactor exploded in 1986. While Russia and Ukraine regularly traded blame over shelling near the plant that caused power outages, Ukraine has alleged more recently that Moscow might try to cause a deliberate leak in an attempt to derail Kyiv’s ongoing counteroffensive in the surrounding Za-po-ree-zia region. Moscow, meanwhile, had accused the Ukrainians of "deliberate sabotage" of the Ka-hove-ka hydroelectric power plant, claiming Kyiv was "pursuing the goal of depriving Crimea of water." The International Atomic Energy Agency has officials stationed at the Russian-held plant, which is still run by its Ukrainian staff. IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi said his agency's most recent inspection of the plant found no mining activities, "but we remain extremely alert." We now go to California. https://www.dailywire.com/news/california-bills-keep-pride-marching-long-past-june California Bills Keep Pride Marching Long Past June The infernal provocation that is Pride Month might be over, but the marches continue through the legislature in California. They are here, they are queer, and they are coming for your children — legally. Multiple bills at various stages in the California legislative process proclaim who ultimately has authority of your kids, and it’s not you. Some have understandably garnered much media attention, but SB 407 is working its way through the Assembly without much fanfare or discussion. SB 407 would require all potential foster families to demonstrate their capacity and willingness to facilitate pharmaceutical and surgical interventions for “gender-expansive” children. Even if the child seems to give no indication of such inclinations at the time, the resource family must be assessed with the understanding that need for such care could arise at any stage of development. Sen. Scott Weiner (D-San Francisco) in introducing the bill, claimed it would protect children from being placed in “hostile foster homes.” Hostile homes are the homes of any foster families who are unwilling to commit to actively supporting gender transition interventions for minors. SB 407 effectively institutionalizes a prohibition against orthodox Christians as well as other religious believers. It effectively prohibits foster parents who think it unwise to allow the mutilation of perfectly healthy body parts on minors. Current and historic data give us insight into the demographics of those most prone to foster non-related babies and minors. Barna Group’s research shows that Christians engage in adoption, foster care, and other ways of aiding vulnerable children more than the average. “Practicing Christians (5%) are more than twice as likely to adopt than the general population (2%). Catholics are three times as likely. And evangelicals are five times as likely to adopt as the average adult.” Practicing Christians are also nearly three times more likely to have seriously considered foster care, and 65% of non-kin foster parents attend religious services weekly — compared to 39%for the general population. In any just world such families willing to stretch themselves to help kids would be sought after, not precluded from the foster system. However, the only families fit to foster, according to the supporters of this bill, are those who give full assent to the most radical tenets of gender theory. What is obvious to most everyone (except the bill’s authors) is that such ideological assent signals a willingness to reject sexual boundaries. It is that rejection that makes sexual chaos far more likely in the home, not less. Is that the goal? If minors can consent to invasive transitioning interventions, what can they not consent to? There is also the reality that SB407 is hardly the only bill in California attacking parental rights. SB 107, passed and was signed into law in September of last year, allowing minors to be brought to the Golden State against the will of a parent if it is for the sake of seeking gender transitioning. In-state parents are not really calling any shots either, according to AB 957 which puts parental custody in jeopardy absent the guardian’s support of their child’s “gender identity.” Absent full support, which is not defined in the bill, a parent can be charged by a court with child abuse. The age at which the child’s desires to begin transitioning must be accommodated is not mentioned, but the bill’s author, Assemblywoman Lori Wilson (D-Suisun City) used an example of a seven-year old in arguing the merits of this bill. Now this is the author of the article talking here: At a recent speaking event I attended for the Awake Americans launch, some protestors carried a sign that read, “We don’t co-parent with hate groups.” Bemused, a few of us commented that obviously we don’t want them to co-parent with us either, so…no problem. But their meaning was more sinister. It was not that they would not co-parent our kids with us, it was that we are unfit to co-parent our own kids with them. They see our kids as theirs to parent and ours to lose. Biden said as much out loud recently, “There’s no such things as someone else’s child. Our nation’s children are all our children.” There’s no such thing as someone else’s child. In no situation do normal people act as though that were true. I do not decide when to speak to other people’s children about sex, nor take them home with me at will. I don’t even know their food allergies much less make pivotal decisions for them. Someone could dismiss Biden’s words as an empty platitude or incoherent ramblings except that they reflect a real perspective that is incrementally creeping into policy. https://www.dailywire.com/news/governor-vetoes-bipartisan-bill-protecting-womens-sports Governor Vetoes Bipartisan Bill Protecting Women’s Sports North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper vetoed a bipartisan bill that would protect women’s sports on Wednesday. HB 574, which is titled the “Fairness in Women’s Sports Act” and passed with bipartisan supermajorities, would prohibit men from playing in women’s sports in middle schools, high schools, and universities. “We don’t need politicians inflaming their political culture wars by making broad, uninformed decisions about an extremely small number of vulnerable children that are already handled by a robust system that relies on parents, schools and sports organizations,” the Democratic governor stated. “Republican governors in other states have vetoed similar bills because they hurt their states’ reputation and economy and because they are neither fair nor needed.” The Fairness in Women’s Sports Act was passed with the support of two Democrats in the state legislature — Rep. Michael Wray in the House, and Sen. Val Applewhite in the Senate. If Cooper’s veto is overridden, the bill would apply to all public schools and any private school that competes against public schools. Applewhite said that her vote was “a tough decision to make” and was based on conversations with coaches and other constituents in her district. One umpire told the Democrat that changes in strength levels between boys and girls can start as soon as seven years old. According to the Fayetteville Observer, Applewhite received “bad threats” after her vote. When approached by The News & Observer, Wray declined to comment on why he supported the bill. Cooper also vetoed SB 49, named the “Parents’ Bill of Rights,” and HB 808, which would ban sex change treatments for minors. Unlike the women’s sports bill, these two bills passed with no Democratic support. Cooper’s vetoes of HB 574 and HB 808 are likely to be overridden by the North Carolina General Assembly, since the GOP holds supermajorities in both houses, thanks in part to Rep. Tricia Cotham, who switched parties from Democrat to Republican in April and voted for all three bills. However, the path forward for the Parents’ Bill of Rights is less certain, since one Republican, Rep. Hugh Blackwell, voted against the bill, leaving Republicans one vote short of overriding the governor’s veto on that bill. Cooper is not the only Democratic governor to veto bipartisan bills surrounding protecting womens’ sports, banning sex change treatments for minors, and strengthening parental rights in education. Governor John Bel Edwards of Louisiana vetoed three similar bills Friday, all of which saw multiple Democrats join Republicans to support them in the state legislature. In a press conference, Edwards compared the bills’ supporters to segregationists during the Civil Rights Movement. We now go to Phoenix… https://thepostmillennial.com/phoenix-city-council-votes-to-send-unclaimed-firearms-to-national-police-of-ukraine?utm_campaign=64487 Phoenix City Council votes to send 'unclaimed' firearms to National Police of Ukraine The Phoenix City Council passed a vote last week that allows up to 600 unclaimed guns from Phoenix to be donated to the National Police of Ukraine. The plan is going through a contract with a company, DT Gruelle, that is specially approved for overseas arms trading. Around $200,000 worth of firearms will be handed over to the company for shipment, according to the Arizona Daily Independent. Under Arizona City law, unclaimed arms need to be resold within one year after they have been obtained by the city. The arms are disposed of or sold "to any business that is authorized to receive and dispose of the article under federal and state law." In the June 28 City Council report, the city "selected approximately 500-600 unclaimed firearms to transfer through Gruelle, a private company which provides export and import services." The plan passed with unanimous support. The report stated that "firearms are unclaimed when there has been no owner contact after a thirty day notice, in which case the City can dispose of them." The Phoenix Police Department states that the firearms are "lost, unclaimed, or found in possession of the Phoenix Police Department." KJZZ said of unclaimed firearms, "essentially they end up in the police department’s lost and found" "Only 9mm, 45mm, 39mm and 12 gauge firearms will be sent," according to the notes. The council promoted the "two year" contract with the private company and, according to the meeting notes, no taxpayer money will be "expended by the City." However, questions about the transfer of arms have been raised. The law in Arizona states that firearms that are authorized to be sold by the city need to be sold "to the public" by the business. The company's website says, "We have a breadth of experience due to 40 years of continuous support to the United States and over 150 other countries, including Iraq, Afghanistan, and Ukraine." "We comply with all required procedures which permeate through our ongoing operations," it goes on. The company has a history of working in Ukraine. On Independence Day, the iconic American ice cream brand sparked outrage on social media by publishing a Twitter post with an image reading: "The United States was founded on stolen Indigenous land. This Fourth of July, let's commit to returning it." In the caption, the company added: "It's high time we recognize that the US exists on stolen Indigenous land and commit to returning it." Ben & Jerry's message generated a flood of negative responses on social media, with some calling it the company's "Bud Light moment," referring to controversy and subsequent boycott after the beer brand partnered with a transgender activist in April. Other Twitter users called on the company to be the first to give up its profits and properties, including factories, buildings and stores. Others said that the company should be returning its factory land to the Abenaki people. "Ok you start. Relinquish your headquarters," one Twitter user wrote. "This should be easy then," wrote another. "Shut down and donate all of your land, facilities, and assets to indigenous people." Others accused the company of virtue-signaling—the practice of expressing opinions or sentiments intended to demonstrate one's good character, social conscience and awareness of a certain issue, just for the sake of appearing good in people's eyes. Scrutiny has continued to escalate over the company's support of the LGBTQ+ community and the Black Lives Matter movement, among other polarizing issues.

Gershkovich has been held in Moscow’s Lefortovo pre-trial detention centre for months after being arrested and charged with "espionage." Previous attempts to free him via the Russian legal system have come up fruitless. According to the Washington Post, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov explained on Tuesday that officials "don't want [the details] discussed in public," adding that prisoner swap negotiations "must be carried out and continue in complete silence." The Russian government has appeared willing to swap US-held prisoners for Gershkovich, however, Deputy Foreign Minister said earlier this year that talks would only begin after the journalist's trial had ended. Gershkovich and the US have tried to hasten proceedings, but it has been to no avail. Last week, a Russian court determined that he had to remain in pre-trial detention at Lefortovo until August 30. On Monday, US Ambassador to Russia, Lynne Tracy, met with Gershkovich and noted that he "is in good health and remains resilient despite the circumstances." She expressed hope that the Russian government would "provide regular consular access." As the Wall Street Journal reports, White House officials stated on Tuesday, "While we unfortunately do not have a breakthrough to share, we continue to pursue every avenue to secure the release of Evan Gershkovich." The US government, including Ambassador Tracy, has maintained Gershkovich's innocence and slammed the Russian government over his treatment. "The accusations against Gershkovich are unfounded," she said, "and we call on the Russian authorities to release the journalist immediately." The Wall Street Journal also stood with Gershkovich, stating,"Evan is a member of the free press who right up until he was arrested was engaged in news-gathering. Any suggestions otherwise are false." The first US journalist to be detained in Russia on charges of spying since the Cold War, Gershkovich could face up to 20 years in prison if found guilty. Now this! Another whoopsie from the government! https://justthenews.com/accountability/waste-fraud-and-abuse/usda-says-it-overpaid-10-food-stamp-benefits-2022-program USDA says it overpaid 10% of food stamp benefits in 2022 as program doubled from 2019 Largely due to unintentional mistakes" by the government or households, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said it overpaid Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits in 10% of cases, The Washington Times reports. The government either wrongly determined households were eligible for the program better known as food stamps or overestimated how much they were due, while 2% were deemed underpayments. The total rate of under- and overpayments was lower before the COVID-19 pandemic: 7.4% in 2019 and 6.8% in 2018. States varied widely in how accurate their payments were, with Alaska the worst at overpayment with 57% and South Dakota the best at under 3%. The program has also doubled since 2019, reaching $113.9 billion from $55.6 billion. It now covers 41 million Americans with an average payment of $230 per month. The Government Accountability Office also released figures Friday of overpayment across the federal government in fiscal 2022, $247 billion, while cautioning the figure is an estimate because the government cannot "determine the full extent to which improper payments occur." Now to Los Angeles we go… https://thepostmillennial.com/los-angeles-homeless-population-spikes-to-more-than-46000?utm_campaign=64487 Los Angeles County homeless population spikes to over 75,000 Homelessness has increased by ten percent in the city of Los Angeles, and it has increased in Los Angeles County by nine percent. According to the 2023 Greater Los Angeles homeless count results conducted by the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA), Los Angeles County’s homeless population increased to approximately 75,518, an increase from 69,144 in 2022. In the City of Angels, the number of homeless people increased to approximately 46,260 people, an increase from 41,980 people in 2022. Earlier this year, it was revealed that California holds half of all “unsheltered people” in the US. Dr. Va Lecia Adams Kellum, chief executive officer of the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, said, “The homeless count results tell us what we already know, that we have a crisis on our streets, and it’s getting worse.” Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Chair Janice Hahn called the results “disappointing,” writing in a statement, “It is frustrating to have more people fall into homelessness even as we are investing hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars and resources into efforts to bring people inside. I appreciate the cities that have stepped up and supported solutions, but these numbers prove that solutions-oriented cities are too few and far between.” Los Angeles officials challenged the accuracy of the 2022 LAHSA count that reported finding zero homeless people in Venice Beach, an area known for its massive homeless problem. As a result, the county used a new counting app and hired a demographer and two data scientists. Though Democratic Mayor Karen Bass has claimed at least 14,000 homeless people have been moved into interim or permanent housing under her administration, it was revealed earlier this year that the city was spending over $800,000 per housing unit. The Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority made a point of emphasizing that Los Angeles is not the only major US city to see an increase in its homeless population, noting that Chicago saw a 57 percent increase and Portland saw a 20 percent hike. According to the agency, in California, Kern County saw a 22 percent increase, San Bernardino County a 26 percent increase, San Diego County a 22 percent increase, and Riverside County a 12 percent increase. Earlier this month, San Diego and Portland approved homeless camping bans. Moving on… Do you guys remember that Children’s hospital in Boston that was exposed for performing gender mutilation & sterilazation on kids? https://townhall.com/tipsheet/miacathell/2023/07/04/boston-childrens-hospital-dethroned-n2624870 Children's Hospital Caught Trans-ing Kids No Longer No. 1 for Pediatric Care For the first time in a decade, Boston's Children's Hospital—which was exposed last year for its experimental genital mutilation, sterilization, and chemical castration of minors identifying as "transgender"—is no longer the no. 1 pediatric medical center in America. Since 2014, Boston Children’s Hospital has claimed the top spot on U.S. News and World Report's honor roll rating the best pediatric-care facilities in the nation. But, the consumer-ranking giant's 2023 - 2024 list published on June 21 has dethroned the Beantown-based institution, the leading recipient of pediatric-research funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). In the latest rankings, Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center took the crown, with Boston Children's Hospital bumped to second place. U.S. News and World Report collected data from almost 200 medical centers through an annual survey that examines a myriad of criteria, such as patient safety, clinical outcomes, and surgical success. Each hospital's score was derived from a nationwide polling of 15,000-plus pediatric specialists, who were asked "where they would send the sickest children in their specialty." Among its LGBTQ-centered departments, Boston Children's Hospital is home to the Gender Multispecialty Service (GeMS) clinic, the "first pediatric and adolescent transgender health program" in the U.S. Serving more than 1,000 families to date, GeMS has expanded to "treat" patients as young as three-years-old. The hospital's Center for Gender Surgery offers surgical mutilation to gender-dysphoric teenagers, including vaginoplasties for 17-year-old boys (Boston Children's Hospital has since quietly changed the age minimum); metoidioplasties and phalloplasties; and chest reconstruction and breast augmentation for 15-year-old kids. Now, the age range has been raised to 18-years-old in the hospital's official guidance. Removal of the testicles is often performed at the same time as a vaginoplasty, which requires a lifetime of dilation,, and can leave the patient sterile. Boston Children's Hospital, whose tagline is: "Until every child is well," was caught promoting "gender-affirming hysterectomies" for "trans youth" in a now-scrubbed video, which was part of a 90-part series that positively frames the medical butchery without addressing the irreversible damage that it does to the human body. Other topics highlighted in the series include "Why is hair removal necessary before phalloplasty?" and "Fertility preservation: What transgender patients should know." Salvaged by Libs of TikTok, an archived version of the 33-second hysterectomy footage shows a smiling Dr. Frances Grimstad of Boston Children's Hospital Division of Gynecology happily describing, as upbeat background music played, the medically unnecessary operation that can render (otherwise) physically healthy patients infertile by removing female reproductive organs. Another since-deleted video posted to the hospital's YouTube channel showed a psychologist claiming that "a good portion" of children she sees at Boston Children's Hospital GeMS clinic know they're transgender "from the womb.” https://twitter.com/i/status/1649007304774123521 - Play Video In a Journal of the American Medical Association article that Boston Children's Hospital GeMS co-director Dr. Oren Ganor authored on "Streamlining Interstate Access to Gender-Affirming Surgeries," the plastic and reconstructive surgeon called for a drastic increase in "clinician capacity" for children to be subjected to "sex-change" surgeries. Ganor also urged a ramping up of "training efforts" at medical school residency programs to instruct future physicians on performing "transgender" procedures. The local NPR news station WBUR reported in 2018 that Ganor wrote in an email that Boston Children's Hospital is "slightly flexible" when it comes to the age acceptance of biological males seeking genital surgery "because of the difficulty young women can experience accessing gendered spaces—like dorms and bathrooms—if they still have male genitalia." The hospital's policy had not yet been finalized, Ganor said, "because of the issue around consent for sterilization (which is part of the procedure)." Now, in entertainment news… https://boundingintocomics.com/2023/07/03/after-the-walt-disney-company-canned-chief-diversity-officer-latondra-newton-warner-bros-discovery-and-netflix-lose-their-diversity-heads/ After The Walt Disney Company Canned Chief Diversity Officer Latondra Newton, Warner Bros. Discovery And Netflix Lose Their Diversity Heads At the end of June it was revealed that The Walt Disney Company’s Chief Diversity Officer Latondra Newton was no longer with the company. Now Warner Bros. Discovery and Netflix’s have also seen their diversity heads leave their respective companies. Variety announced Newton had left The Walt Disney Company after they obtained an internal company memo on June 20th from the company’s HR chief Sonia Coleman. Coleman wrote in the memo, “I’m writing to share the news that Latondra Newton has decided to leave The Walt Disney Company to pursue other endeavors.” Coleman went on to reveal that Julie Merges would take on Newton’s role on an interim basis as the company looked for a new DEI leader, “Latondra’s direct reports will report to Julie Merges on an interim basis until a new DEI leader is identified. I want to thank Julie for leading this team along with her Talent Acquisition organization.” “Additionally, Shelby Curry and the DEI Internal Communications team will continue reporting to Carrie Brown in her role leading internal communications & engagement for the company,” Coleman wrote. Following Newton’s exit, TheWrap reported that Netflix’s head of inclusion strategy Vernā Myers was stepping down from her position at the company in September. While she is exiting the company as head of inclusion strategy she will still advise the company albeit the report notes she will be focusing primarily on her consulting company, The Vernā Myers Company. Unlike The Walt Disney Company, Netflix appears to have a replacement for Myers already lined up in Wade Davis. Davis is currently the Vice President of Inclusion Strategy and worked under Myers for four years. In a statement Myers said, “It’s hard to step away from the company and this role because of how much I love Netflix and the people here. I’m so excited for the talented Wade Davis who will be taking the lead of the I-and-D work along with our incredible inclusion strategy team and I can’t wait to see the continued progress we all will make together.” At the end of June, Los Angeles Times reported that Warner Bros. Discovery axed its diversity leader Karen Horne, who was the company’s Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in North America. According to the outlet’s sources her departure from the company was announced on June 28th and the company’s spokeswoman Megan Klein informed the outlet she was not let go due to Warner Bros. Discovery’s “cost-cutting but rather a rethinking and reorganization of the company’s diversity organization.”

The total rate of under- and overpayments was lower before the COVID-19 pandemic: 7.4% in 2019 and 6.8% in 2018. The program has also doubled since 2019, reaching $113.9 billion from $55.6 billion. It now covers 41 million Americans with an average payment of $230 per month.
The United States and Ukraine have strongly denied any involvement in an alleged drone assassination attempt against Vladimir Putin this week. According to Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov, two drones were reportedly downed by Russian air defences above the Kremlin, the fortress which is the heart of the government. One Decision's Julia Macfarlane and Sir Richard Dearlove analyze the incident, the possibility it could be a false flag operation by Russia to escalate the war, and how Moscow could retaliate against Kyiv. The Kremlin said the attack was foiled and the alleged drones destroyed. Video that appeared on social media shows a bright flash and a puff of smoke over a part of the Kremlin, the official residence of the Russian president and the most potent symbol of power in Moscow. In a statement, the Kremlin said it regarded the alleged attack as terrorism and a deliberate attempt on Putin’s life. “Russia reserves the right to take retaliatory measures where and when it sees fit,” it added. Ukraine denied involvement in the alleged strike. US officials said they were still assessing the incident, and had no information about who might have been responsible. Whatever the truth, any admission of a security breach at the heart of the Kremlin is remarkable. Moscow said the alleged attack took place in the early hours of Wednesday. The Russian president was not in the building at the time, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said. analysis of video showing the incident support the Kremlin’s claim that two drones were flown above the Kremlin early Wednesday, but did not show evidence of Ukrainian involvement: A video that appeared to show smoke rising from the Kremlin surfaced on a local neighborhood channel on social media platform Telegram at 2:37 a.m. local time Wednesday. The first reports of the incident citing the Kremlin came via Russian state media TASS and RIA around 2:33 p.m. local time – around 12 hours later. Shortly after the first media reports, another video appearing to show the moment a drone exploded above the Kremlin began circulating widely on social media. In the video, the drone appears to fly towards the building’s domed roof, followed by what looks like a small explosion. In this video, two people appear to be climbing on the dome holding flashlights, and can be seen ducking down just before the moment of the explosion. The people climbing the dome are not present in the first of these videos, but appear in the second, suggesting they were responding to the fire caused by the first drone at the time the subsequent drone appeared. The Kremlin Press Service has called the purported drone attack an “attempt on the President’s life,” said it was an “act of terrorism” and blamed Ukraine. https://www.outkick.com/audrey-hale-nashville-police-release-update-litigation/ POLICE ANNOUNCE MANIFESTO OF NASHVILLE TRANSGENDER MASS KILLER WON’T BE RELEASED SOON The release of transgender mass killer Audrey Hale’s manifesto has been put on hold. The Nashville Police Department had previously told Fox News Digital last week the manifesto was being revealed and would be released. People are interested to see what drove Hale to murder six innocent people, including three children, at the Covenant School in late March. Now, it appears that the process has hit a roadblock. Metro Nashville PD announced Wednesday afternoon that “Due to pending litigation filed this week, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department has been advised by counsel to hold in abeyance the release of records related to the shooting at The Covenant School pending orders or direction of the court.” The update is in response to a lawsuit filed by former Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Hammond and the Tennessee Firearms Association against the Nashville city government and the police to release the manifesto, according to TimeFreePress.com. As of early May, the public still doesn’t have any idea what is in the manifesto. It’s been more than a month since Audrey Hale walked into the Covenant School to unleash her rampage of terror against children and staffers. Despite the significant time that has passed, government officials have seemingly dragged their feet to make sure the manifesto doesn’t come out. For most of the time, it appeared that Hale’s writings would never be released. Metro Nashville Council Member Courtney Johnston previously told the New York Post, “What I was told is, her manifesto was a blueprint on total destruction, and it was so, so detailed at the level of what she had planned … That document in the wrong person’s hands would be astronomically dangerous.” https://www.cnbc.com/2023/05/03/fed-rate-decision-may-2023-.html Fed increases rates a quarter point and signals a potential end to hikes The Federal Reserve on Wednesday approved its 10th interest rate increase in just a little over a year and dropped a tentative hint that the current tightening cycle is at an end. In a unanimous decision widely expected by markets, the central bank’s Federal Open Market Committee raised its benchmark borrowing rate by 0.25 percentage point. The rate sets what banks charge each other for overnight lending but feeds through to many consumer debt products such as mortgages, auto loans and credit cards. The increase takes the fed funds rate to a target range of 5%-5.25%, the highest since August 2007. Markets, though, are more focused on whether the Fed will pause here, particularly with lingering concerns over economic growth and a banking crisis that has rattled nerves on Wall Street. Stocks rose slightly and Treasury yields were mostly lower immediately following the Fed news, but stocks struggled to hold on to the gains. During Wednesday’s news conference, Chairman Jerome Powell said “a decision on a pause was not made today” but noted the change in the statement language around future policy firming was “meaningful.” The post-meeting statement had only offered some clarity on the future pace of rate hikes — and not by what it said but what it didn’t say. The document omitted a sentence present in the previous statement saying that “the Committee anticipates that some additional policy firming may be appropriate” for the Fed to achieve its 2% inflation goal. The statement also tweaked language to outline the conditions under which “additional policy firming may be appropriate.” Previously, the FOMC had framed the forward guidance around how it would determine “the extent of future increases in the target range.” The statement reiterated that the Fed “will take into account the cumulative tightening of monetary policy, the lags with which monetary policy affects economic activity and inflation, and economic and financial developments.” Taken together, the moves are at least a tenuous nod that while tight policy could remain in effect, the path ahead is less clear for actual interest rate hikes as policymakers assess incoming data and financial conditions. Wednesday’s decision comes amid U.S. economic fragility and over the objections of prominent Democratic lawmakers, who urged the Fed this week to stop rate hikes that they insisted could cause a recession and excessive loss of jobs. However, the labor market has remained strong since the increases started in March 2022. At the same time, inflation is still well above the 2% target that policymakers consider optimum. Multiple officials have said rates probably will need to stay elevated even if the hikes are put on hold. https://www.theepochtimes.com/irs-spent-10-million-on-weapons-since-covid-19-pandemic-began-watchdog_5238319.html?utm_source=partner&utm_campaign=BonginoReport IRS Spent $10 Million on Weapons Since COVID-19 Pandemic Began: Watchdog The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has been splashing out millions stocking up on guns, ammunition, and combat gear since 2020, according to the findings of Open The Books, a watchdog group that tracks government spending. A report by the watchdog, published on April 27, found that the agency has spent a total of $10 million on weaponry and gear since the COVID-19 pandemic began, including $2.3 million on duty ammunition, $1.2 million on ballistic shields, and another $1.3 million on “various other gear for criminal investigation agents.” Additionally, the agency has spent $474,000 on Smith & Wesson rifles, $463,000 on Beretta 1301 tactical shotguns, and $243,000 on body armor vests since 2020. Another $467,000 was reportedly spent on duty tactical lighting, $354,000 on tactical gear bags, and $267,000 on ballistic helmets in the same time. The report, called “The Militarization of Federal Bureaucracy,” contains updated data through the end of March 2023. Since 2006, the IRS has splashed out $35.2 million (adjusted for inflation) on guns, ammunition, and military-style equipment. The report found that 2020 and 2021 saw them spend increased amounts. In a statement to Open The Books in 2021, an IRS spokesperson said IRS Criminal Investigation special agents “have been using weapons throughout their history as they have consistently found themselves investigating the most dangerous criminals involved in organized crime, drugs, and gangs.” The IRS Careers website for criminal investigation special agents states that applicants must be willing to “carry a firearm, must be prepared to protect him/herself or others from physical attacks at any time and without warning and use firearms in life-threatening situations; must be willing to use force up to and including the use of deadly force.” https://www.dailyfetched.com/san-francisco-loses-another-retail-giant-as-shops-continue-to-close-due-to-crime/ San Francisco Loses Another Retail Giant as Shops Continue To Close Due to Crime According to a memo from Chief Stores Officer Jamie Nordstrom to employees, the company has decided not to renew its leases for its San Francisco Centre Nordstrom store and the Market Street Rack store. “We’ve spent more than 35 years serving customers in downtown San Francisco, building relationships with them and investing in the local community,” Nordstrom wrote. “But as many of you know, the dynamics of the downtown San Francisco market have changed dramatically over the past several years, impacting customer foot traffic to our stores and our ability to operate successfully.” The San Francisco Centre location will close at the end of August, and the Market Street Rack will close on July 1. the owner of the Westfield mall, told the San Francisco Standard that such closures “underscores the deteriorating situation in Downtown San Francisco.” A spokesperson for the mall added: “A growing number of retailers and businesses are leaving the area due to the unsafe conditions for customers, retailers, and employees, coupled with the fact that these significant issues are preventing an economic recovery of the area.” The statement continued: [Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield] has actively engaged with city leaders for many years to express our serious concerns, which are shared by our customers and retailers. We have urged the city to find solutions to the key issues and lack of enforcement again.” The news comes not long after San Francisco flagship Whole Foods retail store closed after just a year due to 568 emergency calls over 13 months amid soaring crime in the city. Incidents included vagrants starting fights, throwing food, and defecating on the floor. Twenty retailers have closed stores in the Union Square area since 2020, The Standard reports. Last month, CashApp founder Bob Lee was fatally stabbed in the streets of San Fransisco, while former fire commissioner Don Carmignani was recently beaten over the head with a pipe by a vagrant. Last October, The Daily Fetched reported that commuters were resorting to arming themselves with baseball bats and stun guns due to droves of violent drug addicts. Residents of the SoMa, in northeast San Francisco, said the recent opening of the SoMa RISE drug sobering center, which opened in June, has plagued the neighborhood, making it unsafe. Residents say the center, which aims to temper drug usage, has done nothing but draw heavy users to the neighborhood. Residents said the influx of drug users had brought soaring crime, making the neighborhood more dangerous, Fox News reported. San Francisco Mayor London Breed touted the center as a safe haven for addicts looking to rebuild their lives. But according to SoMa resident and business owner Mark Sackett, the reality of the center in the neighborhood is much different. https://www.dailyfetched.com/joe-biden-offers-500k-grant-for-teachers-in-pakistan-to-help-transgender-youth/ Joe Biden Offers $500K Grant for Teachers in Pakistan to Help Transgender Youth According to the State Department grant, it will teach English language skills to Pakistani transgender youth so they “better participate in the global community and prepare them for success in the workplace.” The grant report aims to focus on three components: (1) Professional Development for English Language Teachers from Non-Mainstream Institutions (2) Professional Development for novice Pakistani English language teachers (3) Professional Development for Transgender Youth and for Afghan Teachers, Students, and Young Professionals Residing in Pakistan.” The program component that includes a focus on transgender youth accepts proposals from applicants “for a minimum of $25,000 and a maximum of $75,000 to implement: (1) intensive professional development courses for Pakistani transgender youth from the ages of 13-25, and (2) and intensive professional development courses for Afghan teachers, students, and young professionals residing in Pakistan.” The components aim to improve English language communication skills and connect trainees to a professional alumni network. Applicants to the Biden grant program are encouraged to address, “What is the most effective way to reach the greatest number of Pakistani transgender youth and Afghan teachers, students, and young professionals from diverse locations across Pakistan?” A spokesperson for the State Department said the education project from the agency focuses on transgender youth like it does with other “marginalized communities.” However, the spokesperson added that the grant funds won’t be used for gender transitions.
