Bigg G and Lil G get into camp, annoying people, snitches, blue jays, big backs, pussycats, nature, candy, difficult personalities, justice, five minute showers, and so much more.
Today I'm talking to a new, up and coming artist I have recently been working with, Giovanna Marino. We talk about doctors giving her a prescription of pretty much every letter in the alphabet and what it's like starting out as a brand new artist in 2024.Giovanna lives with ADHD and Bi Polar, so I wanted to ask how that impacts her creativity and the ups and downs that come with it.You can check out her stunning voice from the link below.https://youtu.be/Kd0mx2CKCFM?si=7pIushmp4HS_oUxyGuest: instagram.com/lilgwithabiggThe Stage Fright Playlist:https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0YfUWVT6PJsNiDnhiylA23?si=97c3c144b79e4a16Find us online to get involved with the show in any way.Instagram.com/TheStageFrightPodcastemail: AlrightStageFright@gmail.comPatreon.com/DanParkinsonMusicHost: Instagram.com/DanParkinson Hosted on Acast. It's been promised forever, and The Deucecast Movie Show has finally delivered. Pretention reigns on this episode, as d$ is out of town and Mikey is relegated to behind the scenes where no one can hear him whine. #XLessDrEarl is here and shedding the show of the uncultured swine of a Kevin James fan known as d$ and the Nic Cage apologize called Mikey, bringing in Friend of the Show Jeremy "Miss Independent" Burgess and part time co-host Lil G, Garrison "Pride of Albany" Ryfun to discuss all things pretentious. First, a little Oscars chat... then a take on Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire... an update on Burgess' film "Don't Die"... streaming services (RIP FilmStruck) to find such pretentious films... and a definition of Pretention from the crew. They list their five fave pretentious films, including gems from Wim Wenders (pronounced VIM VENDERS by the way) and Malick and Fassbender and much, much more. Grab your smoking jacking, swirl your brandy snifter, and adjust your monocle...
It's Oscar season, and we keep discussing the event leading up to Hollywood's big night (admittedly, The Deucies are Hollywood's REAL Big Night, but they haven't figured it out yet.) And in an Oscar tradition that none of us are sure we've done before, Mikey and d$ invite in Friend of the Show, Lil G, Pride of Marietta Georgia, Radio Banker Apprentice, Garrison Ryfun to discuss the films of the major Oscar nominees, and which of those you should see... and which you should avoid at all costs. First, though, Madame Web. All three have seen it. All three have opinions, mostly starting with "Yikes." Then, the just-announced casting of The MCU version of Fantastic Four -- are Vanessa Kirby, Pedro Pascal, and the other two the right call? Were there better names out there? Finally... starting at the top with Bradley Cooper, we go through 13 actors and actresses with a larger body of work (as in, no Lily Gladstone!), discussing their films we recommend to watch, and which ones you should probably skip overall, plus a Wild Card choice from each. We talk Greta! Emma! Margot! Ruffalo! Gosling! RDJ! and more. Plus, Mikey's hatred for "La La Land".
While Mikey and d$ looked ahead to the movies to come for 2024 in last week's auction ep (thanks to Roth from Wyoming and Lil G, aka The Spawn of Ryfun, aka the Pride of Columbus, Garrizzle Ryfizzle for joining us), this week... we take a look at the past. It's Hollywood Lore that the Best Picture nominee list went from 5 to anywhere from 7 to 10 after "The Dark Knight" was denied the honor in 2008's list (hence, 2009's list of 10 films!), but we wondered what would happen if they kept it at 5 films only... Meaning, in some years, the list needed to be culled by a couple of films... in others, as many as 5 had to be cut. It's a great discussion on movies loved and not-so-loved, movies worthy and therefore argued over, and movies passed over quickly, lucky to have been mentioned at all. List of Best Picture nominees each year from 2009 to current - first nominee listed was the Best Picture winner from the year, aside from 2024's list. With episode 600 looming, the Big Bracket is getting full... and Dave, Mikey, and #TwitterlessDrEarl welcome back Friend of the Show Clay Shaver, and he brings a special tournament for the crew to push through. This time around, to determine which role will join the greats like Prince Akeem, Castor Troy, Indiana Jones, Anna Scott, and not Ethan Hunt, this time, there are 16 "DAVE" or "DAVIDs" from the movies, and 16 "MIKE", "MIKEY", or "MICHAELs to vote on. Plus, the guys catch up with the latest with Clay in the Mitt of Michigan, his thoughts on the "Barbie" phenomenon, and lots of talk about Robert Romanus. Lots of talk. And even some Boner Stabone. You just gotta listen. And then, Dave pays off the 1st annual Dave'Stalgia, with older films assigned by friends of the show like Burgeydoodle, Roth from Wyoming, Lil G, from hosts Mikey and #TwitterlessDrEarl and a last minute addition from Clay himself.
It's the week that "Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One: Across the Ghost Nationverse" opens (already d$'s fave films of 2023), and what better way to celebrate this landmark film occasion than to talk about fave stunts in movies. And what better 2023 #FanboySummer Loser Winner Participant to have than Friend of the Show Revolving Part Time Co-Host the Pride of Albany, Georgia, Spawn of Ryfun, Lil G himself G Thang Garrison Ryfun join Mikey, d$, and #TwitterlessDrEarl to talk about it. First up, a quick, non-spoiler preview review of the aforementioned MI flick, from Garrison, who is out from under his review embargo (apparently he saw it at Wal-Mart? Dunno), then a round of Rotten Tomatoes, Jackie Chan style. Then, diving into the Top Five, the crew give their favorite practical stunts in movies, including pole fighters, plane droppers, backwards movers, sword fighters, hose swingers, Trans-Am jumpers, rapids swimmers, chariot racers, rain dancers, Bond cyclers, and EVEN MORE! Stick around for an extra long stinger because none of us can shut up. Movies discussed and where to find them: Ben-Hur (for rental) Dark Knight Rises (MAX) Death Proof (TubiTV) Deliverance (for rental) Die Hard (Hulu) The General (Amazon Prime; MGM+; TubiTV; FreeVee) Inception (for rental) Mad Max Fury Road (Crackle) Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol (Paramount+) On Her Majesty's Secret Service (Paramount+) The Princess Bride (Disney+) Raiders of the Lost Ark (Disney+) Sherlock Junior (TubiTV) Singin' in the Rain (MAX) Skyfall (Netflix) Smokey & the Bandit (Netflix) The Spy Who Loved Me (for rental) Star Wars (Disney+) Tenet (TBS) Wheels on Meals (FreeVee)
As the Big Bracket draws near, with Episode 600 a mere 17 episodes and a summer season away, it's time to crank up the entries... and what better way to bring in a plethora, a cornucopia, a tundra if you will of iconic roles, than to have a Mega Tourney with over 60 famous and beloved characters from cinema and film and movie flicker shows... But to do something so big, we have to have a big roster of Friends of the Show... Spawn of Ryfun, Lil G, Garrison.... the father of the Spawn of Ryfun, that being Scotty RyRy... and the pride of The Beaches of Cheyenne, Roth from Wyoming. Together with d$, Mikey, and #TwitterlessDrEarl, they dive in to figure out the battles between View Askew and Aurora, Illinois... between dimwits and stoners... between classic duos both odd and slapsticky... And Garrison makes a surprise turn in his quest to see Ethan Hunt win the whole tourney. A betrayal if you will. And who knew these guys loved Twilight so much? Featured in the tournament: Harry & Lloyd Ricky Bobby & Cal Jay & Silent Bob Wayne & Garth Harold & Kumar Bill & Ted Romy & Michelle Tai, Dionne, and Cher Jules & Vincent Thelma & Louise Johnny Utah & Bohdi Lone Star & Dark Helmet Ethan & Luther Goose & Maverick Tango & Cash Murtaugh & Riggs Frodo & Samwise Legolas & Gimli Jack & Rose Johnny & Baby Forrest & Bubba Rocky & Apollo Qui Gon & Darth Maul Neo & Morpheus Marty & Doc Jake & Elwood Abbott & Costello Oscar & Felix Andy & Red Tyler & Narrator Dom & Brian Edward & Jacob
It's the end of an era in the MCU, as Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 has just hit theaters - and it's the last hurrah of the Marvel Cinematic Universe group of characters that link audiences to the Infinity Saga... sure, some heroes will carry over, but it does feel like we are saying good-bye to the MCU as we know it. But what kind of ending is it, and how does it stack up against the rest of the MCU films released since Avengers: Endgame? That's what the Deucecast crew aims to find out -- with Mikey, Dave, and #TwitterlessDrEarl on the show, and Young Spawn of Ryfun, the Pride of Albany, GA, Lil G, but now he's a Big G, fresh off of his prom and headed to Senior Portraits, Garrison Ryfun joins the show to discuss and rank in their own top tens those very films. Starting with Spider-Man Far From Home, then to Black Widow, where the show picks up another guest, one Steve Glosson, who comes in to present his own list. Then the Shang-Chi, Eternals, Spider-Man No Way Home, then Doctor Strange & the Multiverse of Madness, with Thor Love & Thunder, Black Panther Wakanda Forever, then Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania, and ending with Guardians 3, it's a long discussion, but a worthwhile one. Plus, everyone but Steve (who questions as to whether he's seen it or not) also give their own quick review on Guardians 3 (SPOILER FREE, by the way). And stick around for the ending, which goes off the rails as usual, from who gets invited to the show, Mikey's dismissal of Scotty Ryfun's concerns, Punisher movies, TMNT movies, Cannonball Run Criterion Collections and so much more. And of course, Casey's Biggest Hits.

In the midst of the Oscar season, the SAG Awards, the PGA Awards, the BAFTAs, the Blockbuster Entertainment Awards, and of course, The Deucies, we mustn't lose sight of the fact that we are still filling the Big Bracket with names and memorable, ICONIC, movie roles -- so what better way to merge the award season into the Big Bracket with an Oscar Winner Tourney. And to help decide this all important winner -- Lil G, the Spawn of Scotty Ryfun, joins Mike and d$ while #TwitterlessDrEarl is on assignment in Nova Scotia. Sixteen Oscar winning actresses -- only roles that won the golden statue, not just nominated, because if you're not first, you're last -- on one side, and 16 Oscar winning actors on the other. Tonight's ep involves some incredible actresses -- Emma Stone and Jessica Chastain hope that being recent winners will cement their own legacy in the voters eyes, while Hollywood royalty like Vivian Leigh and Audrey Hepburn hope that multiple generations of stardom will put them through. Gregory Peck's Atticus Finch strides through the courtroom of Bracket Opinion, while Daniel Plainview drinks your Big Bracket Milkshake. Some actresses appear twice, some movies get multiple shots at glory, and for some roles, this might be their only chance to move forward. And who knew that Mikey hated Gladiator so doggone much?
The Christmas season is in full swing, with our series of Christmas episodes finally set to begin -- big props to Aussie Nate, Roth from Wyoming, and Lil G for hosting last week... But the real losers are back in the saddle, with Mikey and d$ taking control again -- #TwitterlessDrEarl off on assignment doing Doctors with Some Borders (because he's pretentious) It's becoming an annual tradition - one that we find out isn't as old as we thought, but still will be from here anyway - and that is bringing former Delightful Life podcast host and Disney Nerds podcast co-host and sort of blogger and avid hockey fan and mom of 3-7, though we aren't sure, and the greatest voice on our show, one Jennifer Kaufman! A little bit of chit chat and catching up -- including the movies she's seen, like Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and Mikey's review of "Christmas Bloody Christmas" and d$'s take on "Violent Night" -- they dive into a jolly round of Dylan McDermott Mulroney, starring Candace, Danica, and Lacey! Then the Top Five of the Week... the trio's fave non-Christmas movies to watch at Christmas, with some films possibly being a Christmas movie, some films having parts of Christmas in it, and some having nothing to do with Christmas whatsoever. Plus, the incredible career of Shane Black... the graduation of Young Garrison Ryfun... fantasy movies in the holidays... and much more!
While Mikey has missed maybe 2 episodes, and d$ has missed maybe 3 eps, and #TwitterlessDrEarl has only been a regular for the last few hundred eps, now for the first time in almost 12 years and 560 episodes, neither Mikey nor d$ nor #TwitterlessDrEarl are on the show itself. Instead, three show icons, three show legends, three show fan favorites, three show regulars take over the show... Aussie Nate, Spawn of Ryfun, aka, Lil G, and Roth from Wyoming pick up the reigns as the regular guys are out of action for the week (re: d$ is in Orlando and Mikey is watching movies and #TwitterlessDrEarl just likes the weekend off) and after firing off a quick round of Rotten Tomatoes, they dive right into Top Five Recasted Characters. From a super spy to a dark knight to a space smuggler to Old Kris Kringle himself, Lil G, Aussie, and Roth serve up their fave characters that were redone even better. Also, Garrison has never seen Christmas Vacation, and hates Ernest movies, so he will likely not ever be asked back. Here are movies listed and discussed, and where to find them at the time of recording: Batman Forever (the one with Val, but not the nipple suit) - HBO Max Becoming Bond - Hulu Casino Royale - Netflix Clear and Present Danger (1994) - Netflix; Paramount+ Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald - HBO Max Hercules - Disney+ Miracle on 34th Street (1947) - Amazon Prime; Disney+; Peacock Premium Miracle on 34th Street (1994) - Disney+ National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation - HBO Max Ocean's Eleven (1960) - for rental Ocean's Eleven (2001) - for rental On Her Majesty's Secret Service - for rental Paddington - Netflix Paddington 2 - HBO Max Patriot Games (1992) - Amazon Prime; Paramount+; EPIX Solo: A Star Wars Story - Disney+ Spider-Man: Homecoming - STARZ; STARZ in Teens Bitten By Spiders & Gaining Extraordinary Powers Star Trek (2009) - Netflix; Paramount+ Tomb Raider - for rental 12 Angry Men (1957 version) - TubiTV 12 Angry Men (1997 version) - TubiTV X-Men Origins: Wolverine - STARZ; STARZ in Mutant
On the way to Episode 600, in which The Deucecast Movie Show will finally payoff it's Big Bracket of Movie Roles.. but there are still spots to fill. So tonight, the guys match up two Hollywood Legendary Heavyweights -- Jack Nicholson roles vs Robert DeNiro roles. First up, Mikey, Dave, and #TwitterlessDrEarl bring in "The Pride of Noonan", aka, Lil G, aka, Spawn of Ryfun, aka, Garrison to discuss the characters that Jack and Bobby brought to life. After a quick look back to 2012 when Disney and Lucasfilm made a small agreement, then they dive into the bracket... and they even have to call in help. Follow along as Jack Torrence takes on James Dale, Garrett Breedlove vs George Hanson, Frank Costello vs Will Randal, Warren Schmidt vs Harry Sanborn, Jake Gittes vs Bill Rorish, Col Jessup vs Melvin Udell, The Joker vs Daryl Van Horne, Randal McMurphy vs Charley Partanna AND Vito vs Sam and Max Cady vs Pat Solito Jr and Al Capone vs Harry Tuttle and Paul Vitti and Jack Brynes and Travis Bickle vs Michael and Neil McCauley vs Louis Gara and Jake LaMotta vs Jack Walsh and Jimmy Conway vs Sam Rothstein. Only one can make it through.
Due to a number of factors including a hurricane that kept d$'s vacation totally up in the air and a Sunday night unavailability and Monday night plans that were set then were squashed and of course, the fallback plan... an ep of The Deucecast Extra, all for your listening ears. While Dave makes his way back from Orlando, Mikey, and #TwitterlessDrEarl welcome in the Pride of Eatonton, the Spawn of Ryfun, Lil G in the hizzy, along with Wyoming's Best Hope, J Roth. The first hour consists of a look at Ep 6 of "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law", in which we determine that Mikey hates Baltimore... and then some MCU News, with the Deadpool teaser. Then, "Andor" episodes 1-3, with all the characters and themes and Blade Runner vibes throughout. THEN... about 54 minutes in... Steve Glosson. The man, the myth, the legend calls in and gives his take on Andor... Thor and Thor Love & Thunder... and weird aliens in Star Wars and Good Will Hunting and Fantastic Four and The Eternals and Dibello the Lawyer and classic Steve Glosson and The Big Honkin Show's return and Rise of Skywalker and Michael hates "Willow" and "Blade" and Superman II's Donnor Cut vs Donnor party

Because we are on the downslope to Episode 600, and we've done 21 of these and need to do at least 11 more... its TOURNEY TIME. Mikey, Dave, and #TwitterlessDrEarl are ready to put another movie role into the Big Bracket, to figure out what the greatest movie role of all time could be. This episode, it's picking out the greatest roles from franchises. The rules.... must be a character who appears in at least FOUR theatrical releases, no matter how brief, and can be played by the same or different actors. Star Wars and Marvel are intentionally excluded, with one brief exception. And for the first time in any DCMS Tourney... Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings make their appearances. To do such a big event, the Deucecast trio need help -- enter the Pride of Buford Georgia, Spawn of Ryfun himself, Lil G, and Friend of the Show Roth from Wyoming, picking up last minute invites to be a part of the madness. Transformers go tet a tet... the wizarding world has a rumble, as does Middle Earth... action stars attempt to keep it in the family, while dynamic duos take on crime stopping wiseacres... will G's push for Ethan Hunt finally be successful? What happens when two of Mikey's icons face off? Is it fair to make #TwitterlessDrEarl decide a match from movies he's never seen? Probably not, but here we go!

Still Beautiful. Still Gorgeous. Still Malick. As Labor Day passes, so goes, for all intents and purposes, the #FanBoySummer which comes to a close with one final guest, one final top five as provided by those in the Discord. Mikey, d$, and #TwitterlessDrEarl welcome back The Pride of Tifton Georgia, the Spawn of Ryfun, Lil G, Garrison to the show, and he brings to the table an extended alternate topic... that being Extended Editions and Directors Cuts of our Fave Films. Several opinions come up on the Justice League and Zack Snyder's famed edition... the slapstick of Superman and the alternate cut... Mikey cheating... Garrison channeling Sergio Leone... watching films in TV series form... Terrence Malick stuff... Mikey's Star Trek convention discoveries... watching The Tuxedo... Gary "Lil G" Jenkins is an American musician.[1] He is the lead singer of the R&B group Silk. Born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, he is the youngest of seven children. Gary began singing in church at the age of seven, which earned him a role as a featured soloist on BET's The Bobby Jones Gospel Show for many years. By the age of nine, Gary had mastered the guitar after only a few lessons[citation needed] and had self-taught an assortment of keyboards, drums and guitars. While attending Tennessee State University (TSU) in Nashville, Gary majored in music, with an emphasis in piano and voice. As a member of the prestigious TSU Jazz Collegians, he was selected to accompany Dizzy Gillespie on piano during Gillespie's visit to the school. He also appeared in several opera productions and performed with the Aristocrat of Bands, TSU's marching band program. In 1992, Gary answered an audition call and earned the role as lead singer for Keith Sweat's newly formed R&B group Silk. Their career began with the success of "Freak Me" and "Lose Control" from Silk's 1992 debut album Lose Control. Their career spanned the globe for nearly ten years, with more than five million records sold. In September 1994, Jenkins appeared in the R&B group, Black Men United and with his group Silk and mentor Keith Sweat on the single, "U Will Know" from the soundtrack to the movie, Jason's Lyric. The success of their second album, Silk, led to the follow-up, Tonight. Remaining consistent, they released their fourth album, Love Session in 2001. The group gained national recognition with his appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Live with Regis and Kathi Lee, MTV, BET, Soul Train, Jenny Jones, Ricki Lake, Moesha, Showtime At The Apollo and Motown Live among others. Achieving international acclaim, Gary has toured throughout the world in such countries as Japan, Korea, the United Kingdom, Canada, Mexico, France, the Netherlands and Germany. With unresolved dissension among the group members mounting after the folding of their record label, Elektra, Gary resigned from the group in 2002. Over the following 18 months, Gary wrote, recorded and produced (with live instruments) his first independent solo project, The Other Side.Gary also studied theater in school, co-starring in Hello, Dolly! and Harvey. He made his professional debut in 1997 in the production of Sneaky. Happy Halloween to all the movie lovers and scaryphiles out there from The Deucecast Crew! Mikey, Dave, and #TwitterlessDrEarl serve up their favorite Halloween Guilty Pleasures. The movies that... well, at least for Mikey and Dave... are not really scary, are sort of hokey, maybe kinda stupid, but oh so much fun anyway. And of course, in the pretentious corner, #TwitterlessButNotDiscordlessDrEarl can't bring himself to talk about guilty pleasures, so somehow, his movies are actually good. First up, Mikey gives a quick review of Liam Neeson's new flick "Honest Thief", then Dave laments the loss of a small college town theater. Then a new game called SUBTITLES, guessing the terrible franchises that the even more terrible sequels are named, followed by the aforementioned the Guilty Pleasures list, and then, the 7th iteration of MikeTober, where Mikey has watched and gives reviews on horror flicks assigned by Lil G (some Korean joint) and #TwitterlessButNotDiscordlessDrEarl (some 70s joint) and Burgess (some 90s joint) and Scott Ryfun (some Roadkill joint) and a masterpiece of old cinema assigned by Dave. Christine (Starz Amazon) Creepshow (not streaming) Don't Answer the Phone (not streaming) Ernest Scared Stupid (Hoopla) Firestarter (MaxGO) Freaked (YouTube) Fright Night (Amazon Prime) Fun Size (Amazon Prime) Happy Death Day (for rental) Jason X (Syfy) Jaws 3D (HBO Max) Killer Klowns from Outer Space (Netflix; Amazon Prime) Nightbreed (Amazon Prime) Transylvania-6500 (Amazon Prime) The Worst Witch (YouTube)

King Lil G grew up poor in South LA, raised by a single mother. He developed a taste for rap music and writing early on, but that's not all he took to from a early age. He was still an adolescent when started street hustling. He joined a gang, sold drugs, and carried a gun. But when his brother got locked up on a serious charge, the gang's response motivated Lil G to turn his life around and find a way to earn an honest living while he chased his dream of becoming a rapper.

The summertime rolls on and in this world, all we have is our friends... including our sidekicks! Mikey, Dave, and #TwitterlessDrEarl welcome back the Pride of Stone Mountain, Georgia, Lil G, the Podawan Learning, the Spawn of Ryfun, young Garrison. First up, a few birthday movies, including the year that gave us not only Joe Dirt 2, but also Pixels, then the anniversary of Fantastic Four (not that one, that one), Apollo 13, Red Sonja, and the film that made Bo Svenson a star. Then a round of Word Up!, giving the word on Marvel movie movement... the concern over tentpole films... seeing Empire Strikes Back's big success... and of course, the real definitive movie of the 90s (hint: probably not Twister). And then, the best movie comedic Sidekicks! Disney movies, The Pink Panther, Stanley Spedowski, Noonan!, and much more. And Mikey tries to put forth another ridiculous entry into a Top Five. Plus, a surprise visit from an old, much thinner, Friend of the Show. Part 1 of Charley Crockett at public radio program Live From The Divide in beautiful Bozeman, MT. A distant relative of Davy Crockett, Charley Crockett taps into Americana mythos in his music. Originally a blues singer, Crockett strayed into other American roots music the longer his career lasted, incorporating soul, gospel, and, especially, country. The latter was the focus of Lil G.L.'s Honky Tonk Jubilee, a collection of covers of country classics, but that 2017 album also illustrated how Crockett fused all these sounds into a distinctive, earthy signature.

In this last regular episode of the year, before next week's DeuceGiving and the Christmas season gets going, Mikey, Dave and #TwitterlessDrEarl set up a fictitious movie studio in the vein of classic movie studios that would sign actors to mega deals. Thus our first of many Draft Episodes kick off. ...But first, birthday movies! Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 1 turns 5... The Blind Side turns 10... National Treasure is 15... Dogma is 20... and Supergirl with Helen Slater is... 35?? And what better way to play a game called Chronology than to invite in the Spawn of the Pride of Albany Georgia, young Garrison Ryfun! Lil G helps put the movies in order along with a whining Mikey and a brilliant #TwitterlessDrEarl. Finally... pretend a movie studio has come to each of the crew and given an unlimited budget to sign FIVE actors to an exclusive deal. The guys begin the draft and pick their choices one by one to be in their studios... who gets picked? Who gets left on the table? And finally... everyone knows ABBA follows Kenny... but for the first time, the question that everyone has been asking is answered... what follows ABBA...?
