It's October, which means we're about to be hit with the annual consumption tsunami. Black Friday. Cyber Monday. Then straight into Christmas panic-buying. And somewhere in all of this chaos, your customers – the ones who chose your brand because they care about quality, sustainability, conscious consumption – they're feeling pressured. Pressured to spend for the sake of getting a deal. Pressured to consume for the sake of consuming. It's the whole disposable goods, instant-gratification, fast-food and fast-fashion mentality playing out in real time. And here's what really gets me: Is this the world we want to live in? Is this the world we want our kids to grow up in? Where everything is about faster, cheaper, more disposable? Where local boutiques disappear one by one while Amazon rules everything? I certainly don't.  And the data backs me up – sustainable, purpose-driven brands are growing 64% faster than alternatives. Your customers want to buy from brands that share their values. This isn't just the right thing to do – it's good business. So in this episode, I'm going to show you how purpose-driven brands can absolutely dominate this season without compromising their values, without manipulating their customers, and without training everyone to only buy on discount. I'm calling it Green Friday to Green Christmas. And it's about so much more than one long weekend of deals.   Links mentioned in this episode: If you'd like help to achieve your goals, I invite you to have a chat to find out how we can make that happen together HERE By booking a Free Growth Strategy https://productpreneurmarketing.com/lets-talk https://productpreneurmarketing.com/q4   Other Ways To Enjoy This Episode: Listen on Apple Podcasts Listen on Spotify Youtube

On Healthy Mind, Healthy Life, Avik interviews Rich Brown—U.S. Marine Corps veteran, co-founder of Honor Bound Fit, and event director of Guidon 22, a 22-mile ruck with 22 pounds held around the holidays to combat veteran suicide. Rich breaks down why many veterans lose tribe and purpose after service—and how community, service-oriented leadership, and disciplined fitness can restore both. We unpack Marine-tested leadership principles that translate to business and everyday life, and how entrepreneurship can be both a path to meaning and a calculated risk worth preparing for. Clear, direct, and action-focused for listeners who want prevention, not just awareness.   About the Guest:   Rich Brown is a combat service-disabled U.S. Marine Corps veteran and founder of Global Protective Services, co-founder of Honor Bound Fit (Fredericksburg, VA), and event director of Guidon 22—a ruck march dedicated to preventing veteran suicide and honoring fallen veterans and first responders.   Key Takeaways: Guidon 22 = action over awareness: a 22-mile ruck with 22 pounds held near the holidays (when suicide risk spikes) to prevent, not just publicize, veteran suicide. Tribe + purpose are protective: after transition to civilian life, losing unit identity and mission raises risk; structured community and shared goals help restore meaning. Leadership that serves down the chain: the general thinks about the private; leaders exist to enable the frontline to perform. Train yourself out of a job: promote readiness by teaching your team to do your role—master it, then transfer it. Always communicate the “why”: commander's intent empowers smarter, adaptive execution; repeat what matters—consistency isn't “hazing,” it's accountability. Be useful first: orient attention outward—help the person to your left/right; usefulness builds personal belief and resilience. Fitness as prevention, not just recovery: moderate-to-intense training improves mood and longevity; add first-aid and protector skills for real-world readiness. Tough and tender: true strength is knowing when to push and when to support—vulnerability and courage aren't opposites. Entrepreneurship for veterans: meaningful path with upside and real risk—prepare, de-risk, and apply service-honed decision-making.   How to Connect with the Guest   Website: https://honorboundfit.com/ Facebook: Rich Brown | Honorbound Fit Event: Guidon 22 — 22-mile ruck, 22 lbs, November 22, Fredericksburg, VA (veteran suicide prevention)   Want to be a guest on Healthy Mind, Healthy Life? Today, Eric is delighted to welcome Melva LaJoy Legrand as his guest. Melva is an icon in our industry, having built an impressive career that spans the US, France, and Europe, earning numerous recognitions along the way. In this episode, she shares her journey and discusses the honors she received within the industry, offering inspiration and insights for solopreneurs and small business owners. Her Journey Melva began her career as a teacher, but her creative spark kept pulling her in a different direction. A volunteering stint at a radio station one summer introduced her to concerts, festivals, and events, and she discovered her true calling. With the unwavering support of her parents, she stepped into event planning, starting at the bottom, and soaking up every lesson she learned along the way. With the help of her mentors, she managed to overcome her fear, learn about leadership, and shape her emotional intelligence. With perseverance, faith, and resilience, Melva built her own business, LaJoy Creative, weaving together her professional achievements and her personal trials.  Her Early Career Melva describes her early years as a "preparation season”, where she embraced every small task with humility, absorbing lessons from behind the scenes. That shaped her professional values, helping her decide the kind of leader she wanted to become. Mentorship and Growth Melva had several mentors who were all central to her development. One of her mentors encouraged her toward a leadership position at a major festival, creating a breakthrough moment where she discovered her own capacity to lead. This experience highlighted the importance of humility, teachability, and persistence in building effective mentor relationships. Building Confidence and Starting Over Melva restarted her business in 2019 during a deeply challenging period while caring for her ailing father. His encouragement gave her the courage to relaunch her business, and she also received additional confirmation from her mentors and unexpected encounters, fueling her belief that her business was her purpose. Overcoming Trauma and Anchoring in Faith As a survivor of abuse and trauma, Melva knows that therapy, faith, support groups, and resilience are an essential part of the healing process. Her faith and clarity about her values have shaped her leadership and business decisions, ensuring she only accepts work that aligns with her principles. Awards and Recognition Melva has received numerous honors, including recognition for organizing survivor-focused events, being named a Top Female Founder 500, and winning Silver for International Event Agency of the Year. Those awards affirm her parents' belief that the world would always make room for her. She also takes pride in recent collaborations, including honoring cultural icons at a major beauty and artistry event. Cultural Perspective: US vs France Living between the US and France has given Melva unique insight into the work-life balance. She contrasts the American culture of overwork with the French emphasis on rest and leisure. While she acknowledges higher US salaries, she credits her best creative breakthroughs to the mental clarity she gained during her time abroad. Dusty Holcomb's story begins on a farm, where the simple truth that “cows need milking 365 days a year” instilled an unshakable work ethic. Those early lessons in responsibility and persistence carried into his entrepreneurial ventures as a child—creating a town newspaper at eight and running a landscaping business by eleven. These formative experiences shaped a lifelong commitment to connecting hard work with meaningful purpose. After spending 21 years at AAA and nearly three decades in corporate leadership, Dusty developed a leadership philosophy centered on “connecting the dots” between what people do and why it matters. He emphasizes that clarity comes first, followed by alignment, and only then can execution succeed. This clarity-first approach helps leaders address common pain points such as feeling isolated, becoming bottlenecks in decision-making, or struggling with gaps between vision and reality.Throughout his journey, forum groups provided Dusty with critical support during times of challenge and transition. These peer groups not only offered perspective but also helped him refine his own path as a leader. He also draws on timeless insights like Viktor Frankl's reminder that, regardless of circumstances, leaders can always choose their response.Today, through The Arcus Group, Dusty is focused on multiplying leadership impact at scale, aiming to empower 100 million leaders around the world. By equipping leaders with the tools to connect purpose, clarity, and execution, he is helping reshape how organizations inspire and engage their teams. His journey serves as both a reminder and a roadmap: leadership rooted in values can transform not only organizations but the lives of the people within them. Please visit www.internationalfacilitatorsorganization.com to learn more about Mo Fathelbab and International Facilitators Organization (IFO), a leading provider of facilitators and related group facilitation services, providing training, certification, marketing services, education, and community for peer group facilitators at all stages of their career.
