EPISODE DESCRIPTION I sat down with Reid, co-founder of Ground, to explore what it actually takes to bring on-chain finance to institutions. Ground is building a non-custodial API platform, think Stripe, but for DeFi, so that banks, neobanks, and financial companies can access yield, lending, liquid staking, and real-world assets without rebuilding their entire stack. Reid shares his journey from Square to Stripe to Chime to founding Superstate and ultimately Ground. We dig into why large institutions move slowly, why the "just build it with AI" objection misses the point, and what the future looks like when blockchains are quietly powering the back end of your Robin Hood or JPMorgan account. DISCLAIMERNothing mentioned in this podcast is investment advice and please do your own research. The drawdowns. The losing streaks. The moments where it feels like your strategy has completely stopped working. That's where most traders quit... and that's exactly why most traders never make it.This conversation dives deep into what professional investing actually looks like. Why stop losses exist to protect your capital instead of limiting your profits. Why one big winner can completely erase dozens of small losses. And how proper position sizing can keep you in the game long enough for your edge to finally play out. There's also a fascinating comparison between trading and gold mining that perfectly explains why consistency always beats chasing the next hot stock. One of the biggest takeaways from this episode is learning to trust the probabilities instead of your emotions. The discussion breaks down Monte Carlo simulations, expectancy, and why even winning strategies experience painful losing streaks. Professional traders don't expect to win every trade... they expect to follow their process until the statistics eventually work in their favor. There's also a complete portfolio update covering Robinhood's emergency exit, Apple, GameStop, Roblox, Coca-Cola, market breadth, SPY support levels, order blocks, earnings season, and why managing risk is far more important than predicting what the market will do next.✅ SPY support, market breadth, and order block analysis✅ Robinhood emergency exit and real portfolio updates✅ Position sizing, stop losses, and professional risk management✅ Monte Carlo simulations, expectancy, and trading probabilities✅ Trading psychology, discipline, and why one big winner changes everythingIf you've ever wondered why successful traders stay calm during losing streaks... or why the best investors care more about probabilities than predictions... this episode will completely change how you think about trading.Subscribe to OVTLYR for disciplined trading strategies that actually make sense.

Two weeks after launch, 85% of Robinhood Chain's trading is memecoins and just 1% is RWAs. Get 33% off your first six months at cape.co/unchained (use code: UNCHAINED). ======================================================== Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev told CNBC on July 2 that real-world assets, not memecoins, were the future of crypto on Robinhood Chain. Two weeks after launch, the numbers disagree: roughly 85% of daily trading on the chain is memecoins, while tokenized RWAs sit at about 1%. Johann Kerbrat, Vice President and General Manager of Robinhood Crypto, joins Laura Shin to argue the split is not a problem. He makes the case that building the chain permissionless was deliberate, and that memecoin trading through CashCat and PumpFun brings the liquidity RWAs will eventually need. Kerbrat also defends building the chain's lending and margin system on USDG over USDC or Tether, walks through the separate, unshared liquidity instance behind Robinhood's new perps product with Lighter, and addresses Robinhood's 63% quarterly drop in crypto transaction revenue. His answer: Robinhood Chain was never meant to smooth out that swing, and the real test is whether tokenization can outrun regulation. [School of Everything Else 2026] This is a commissioned show for AJ. We recorded it several months ago, but banked it until the long-awaited release of Christopher Nolan's Odyssey. It is an independent, serialised concept musical, released across nine digital EPs from December 2022 through to December 2024 by Jorge Rivera-Herrans (who also plays Odysseus, amongst others). And this took a certain portion of the Internet by storm, garnering fan projects to animate each of the songs, all of which you can find assembled here in one 2h 22m work of collaborative passion made on one iota the budget of Nolan's IMAX titan. Willow showed this to us on Christmas day and the music and handling of the many characters really stuck with us. This is the most excited I've been about a musical since Hamilton and the original Moana. Statistically, almost none of you have heard this, so we specifically crafted this show to introduce what Jorge and company achieved here and hopefully get a bunch of new people with these catchy-ass songs bouncing round their heads. Drawdowns are part of the game. The question isn't whether they'll happen... it's what you'll do when they do.This conversation gets into the reality of professional trading. Why even traders who make hundreds of percent in a year still struggle emotionally through drawdowns. Why chasing losses almost always makes things worse. And why the traders who survive aren't the ones who never lose... they're the ones who know exactly how much they're willing to lose before they ever enter a trade. There's a powerful lesson throughout this episode that goes far beyond the charts. Great trading isn't about predicting every move. It's about controlling your emotions, sticking to your rules, reducing risk whenever possible, and trusting a system even when results aren't going your way. I am always up for an interesting new perspective on an old story. The Death of Robin Hood wasn’t interesting. It doesn’t matter that very good actors were cast in this movie; even the best performances can’t save a horrible story.

In this week’s episode, Keith, Terry, and Jill catch up on everything from family updates to classic TV trivia and essential veteran services. Jill shared that her grandson had left for the Marine Corps in San Diego and mentioned a new Little House on the Prairie series on Netflix. Terry discussed attending an ACB convention and participating in an auction where items like Victor Readers were sold for high prices. Keith mentioned his family’s experience with summer camps and his activities with AI, including creating recap songs and blog content. check out, Heltsley Home Page. to see what Keith is doing there. While we don't have a link to the new series we discussed, you can enjoy all nine seasons of the original Little House on the Prairie episodes by clicking through on our Amazon affiliate link. News of the Week The team then shared unusual news stories, including space debris washing up on a New Zealand beach, a 94-year-old man setting a world record for water skiing, an ancient oak tree linked to Robin Hood that died, a bull interrupting a cricket match in England, and a World War II grenade being turned in at an Ontario police station. Jill's Trivia Quiz Jill hosted a trivia quiz about the TV show Green Acres, testing the group’s knowledge of various show details including character names, plot points, and specific information about the fictional town of Hooterville. The participants, including Keith and Terry, answered questions about topics ranging from cow names to anniversary celebrations, with some questions proving more challenging than others. The quiz concluded with questions about Oliver’s unusual collections and pet names, with participants taking turns guessing answers throughout the session. Terry's Top 10 List Terry shared a top 10 list of funny things a blind person cannot do at home, including winning staring contests, playing hide and seek with cats, judging wall colors, and finding Legos. The group discussed various challenges blind people face, such as not being able to spot spiders, wave to neighbors, or detect smoke before a fire alarm. Anchor Topic Our main focus this week centers on VIST (Visual Impairment Services Team) services for newly blind individuals. We dive into VIST services for newly blind individuals, and Keith suggested listening to the ACB convention on ACB Media 1 through Amazon devices. The group discussed several topics including a 2-minute lag in the ACB call and changes to VA training policies where veterans now have to pay their own travel costs to travel to training sessions. Terry suggests it may be due to the expense of requiring veterans to travel for short term training sessions that may only last a week. Keith suggested that the VA should instead provide extended training for those who need it while handling gadget training locally at VA hospitals. Email and Final Thoughts Keith shared an email about some dimwitted building contractors. He followed it with one sharing a letter written home from Marine Corps Boot Camp, encouraging listeners to get in on the action before it's too late. A listener sent in a voicemail about an awkward conversation in a bathroom. The Final voicemail was from our old Salty Marine buddy about his experience in a confessional booth. Embarrassing conversation. The final word from our AI companion The conversation ended with participants sharing jokes and funny stories, including emails and voicemails about various humorous situations and dad jokes. Show notes written by AI, edited as needed by Keith. Sponsored by: Retro Radio Podcast. Bringing you family-friendly entertainment through classic, old-time radio. Episodes are posted daily. Joaquin Murrieta has been remembered as a Robin Hood of the California Gold Rush — a wronged miner turned avenging outlaw, the supposed inspiration for Zorro. The truth is far darker and more complicated: the real Murrieta led one of the bloodiest bandit gangs of the era. He was killed in 1853, and his severed head became its own strange piece of California history. My guest is New York Times bestselling author John Boessenecker, and his book is called "Bring Me the Head of Joaquin Murrieta: The Bandit Chief Who Terrorized California and Launched the Legend of Zorro". What actually mattered in banking during the first half of 2026 — and what was just noise? Jim Marous welcomes Ron Shevlin, Chief Research Officer at Cornerstone Advisors, back to Banking Transformed for a mid-year review that cuts through the hype. The conversation covers why agentic AI is both overweighted and underweighted by banks and credit unions; Ron Shevlin's three-part framework for AI's impact, and the pivotal question of how work gets done versus who does the work; the stablecoin and tokenized-deposit debate, and the evolving role of core providers including Fiserv, FIS, and Jack Henry. They also discuss bank and credit union consolidation driven by capabilities and digital maturity rather than geography, and the fintechs Ron is watching most closely — SoFi, Robinhood, and Coinbase. At the heart of the episode is the decline of primacy: why a single “primary bank” no longer exists for consumers under 40, and why direct deposit no longer signals a growing relationship. The episode closes with each guest's top priority for the second half of 2026. Ron Shevlin publishes the Fintech Snark Tank on Substack (ronshevlin.substack.com) and LinkedIn. Hosted by Jim Marous, co-publisher of The Financial Brand and Owner and Publisher of the Digital Banking Report.

And about that Digger trailer: Tom Cruise, a Southern accent, a pot belly, a combover, and Iñárritu calling it the culmination of Cruise's 40-year career. The Dr. Strangelove comparisons are already flying. Is this the one that gets him the Oscar, or is it too strange for its own good?In What We've Been Watching, Jonathan went deep on the Despicable Me universe (all of it, essentially), plus The Furious, Death of Robin Hood, Kiki's Delivery Service, A Goofy Movie, and Inside Out 2. JP brings Oceans 11, Send Help, The Drama, and The Furious, with House of the Dragon and Silo on the TV side.In the news: Moana opened to $43 million and it's a disaster on a $250 million budget — potentially the worst live-action Disney remake debut ever. Is that era finally over? Toy Story 5 keeps rolling toward a billion. And The Odyssey opens this Friday in IMAX — tracking for $100-120 million, which would make it Nolan's biggest opening ever. Does it have a shot at being his best film?

Read the answers on Facebook or #backtalk channel of the Discord. 0:22:40 Classic Literature to Introduce via Board Games We’re going to focus on games that will whet the appetite: You don’t need to already know the stories to enjoy them, but there’s enough to make kids WANT to dig deeper. 1. Winnie the Pooh stories by A.A. Milne: Hundred Acre Wood Fluxx 2. Classic Grimm’s fairy tales: The Grimm Masquerade and 3 Chapters – both of these games make characters from different tales interact, but with specialized relationships unique to each one. 3. The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle: tons of games that riff on this character. But the best to introduce the setting and themes from Doyle’s stories include: Unmatched: Cobble & Fog Baker Street Irregulars (4-book / 4-player mystery from Van Ryder publishing) Sherlock 13 (deduction of a criminal, introduces many characters) 4. Shakespeare: be careful in how you approach this! Shakespeare is wonderful, but not great if you’re forced to read it. We recommend Unmatched: Slings & Arrows to introduce some of the fun of Shakespeare. 5. Greek mythology: Horrified: Greek Monsters Santorini Iliad (Unmatched has Medusa in BoL1, Achilles & Patroclus in BoL2) One more shout out for the Unmatched series. They pull from tons of classics: Alice in Wonderland, Beowulf, Robin Hood, Sinbad, and even modern “classics” like Jurassic Park, Marvel characters, The Witcher, Buffy, and TMNT. (Other games based on classic literature that are great, but work much better if you already love the story: Ichor, Bottle Imp, Paint the Roses, Princess and the Goblin, The Grimm Forest) 0:46:10 New Backtalk Question What’s your hidden gem? Novakovski also addresses the crowded field forming around US perps, from Kalshi and Coinbase to Kraken and dYdX, and makes the case that onchain volume keeps gaining share even as crypto native tokens lag real world asset perps. Austin Griffith joins Kain Warwick and Taylor Monahan to unpack  BonkDAO's $20M governance heist, and Kain's case for giving founders more control. ======================================================== Thank you to our sponsors! Cape: Your biggest crypto vulnerability isn't your wallet, it's your phone number. Cape is America's privacy-first mobile carrier that rotates your SIM identity daily and blocks SIM swaps before they happen. Get 33% off your first six months at https://cape.co/unchained (use code: UNCHAINED). ======================================================== A single wallet spent $4.4 million buying up Bonk tokens, then used that stake to push through a governance proposal that legally emptied BonkDAO's roughly $20 million treasury a week later, with almost no one watching the vote. Austin Griffith, Ethereum Foundation developer and creator of Scaffold-ETH and founder of BuidlGuidl, joins Kain Warwick and Taylor Monahan to use the heist as a jumping-off point for Kain's real target: ENS. Kain argues founder Nick Johnson should retake control over building and product from the DAO, and makes the case that founder-led execution beats decentralized governance almost every time. They also cover Vitalik's Lean Ethereum overhaul and why Austin says it will barely change what he builds, the $1 AI audit he launched as a meme for x402 agent payments, Robinhood's new chain and the pay-to-play deals behind it, and why Kain now argues tokens are the wrong way to raise money. If a founder with total conviction can outperform a DAO built to stop exactly that, the DAO experiment may be further from finished than anyone wants to admit. Vladimir Novakovski of Lighter joins the Chopping Block crew to untangle one of crypto's oldest debates: what happens when tokens and equity coexist. The gang digs into the Venice/VVV controversy, breaks down Lighter's new Perps integration with Robinhood Chain and the fragmentation questions it raises, dissects the wild BonkDAO governance exploit, and reacts to the eye-popping $2.4 billion in crypto income disclosed in Trump's financial filings. Welcome to The Chopping Block – where crypto insiders Haseeb Qureshi, Tom Schmidt, Tarun Chitra, and Robert Leshner chop it up about the latest in crypto, joined this week by special guest Vladimir Novakovski of Lighter. The crew dives deep into the resurfaced tokens-versus-equity debate sparked by Dragonfly's investment in Venice and its VVV token, with Haseeb making the case that Venice is fundamentally different from Uniswap Labs style structures. Vlad explains how Lighter has approached the same dilemma through programmatic buybacks and a single C corp structure, and the group debates fiduciary duties, Delaware law, and what a merged DeFi/TradFi future for equity and tokens might look like. From there, they unpack Lighter's big Robinhood Chain announcement, including Lighter's new role as the native Perps engine inside Robinhood Wallet, and whether running a separate instance fragments liquidity. The episode wraps with a breakdown of the BonkDAO governance exploit that let an attacker vote themselves $20 million in tokens, and a reaction to Trump's staggering $2.4 billion in pre-tax crypto income revealed in his latest financial disclosure.
