NPR’s Becky Sullivan says the real number could be higher. The Pentagon fired the top editor and the publisher of Stars and Stripes, as well as a reporter, raising questions about the paper’s independence. The Washington Post’s Scott Nover discusses what’s behind the firings. Plus, Darline Graham won a Senate primary in South Carolina, Pennsylvania reported its first measles-related deaths in decades, and Serena Williams and Carlos Alcaraz rallied back to win their first mixed-doubles appearance at the U.S. Open. Two 1000s ran back to back with no gap, so this episode is a two-parter. We recorded it during the Cincinnati men's final, with the score running underneath us the whole time.Act one is Cincinnati. Arthur Fils and Frances Tiafoe met in the first ATP Masters 1000 final between two Black players. Anastasia finally tells the story of how the King of New York nickname started on Court 12 in 2023 and how it got away from her. Nick makes the case for Sara Bejlek, who is twenty, left-handed, and beat three major champions on her way to the semifinals. And we get into Brandon Nakashima, who made a final in January, got forgotten, then made two more deep runs in three weeks.Act two is New York. Jannik Sinner is out. Jack Draper is out. Carlos Alcaraz is back from a wrist injury and playing mixed doubles with Serena Williams. And Fan Week starts Monday, which is free, and which has quietly become the entire US Open for a lot of fans who cannot afford the main draw anymore. We also cover Kei Nishikori's last US Open, who to watch in qualifying, what a grounds pass actually costs now, and which ESPN tier gets you the match you want instead of the one a network picked for you.▶ Our US Open Guide - https://www.groundpasspodcast.com/us-open-guideChapters:00:15 Introduction03:01 Why Arthur Fils is the King of New York06:13 Cincinnati Open mini recap08:21 Serena Williams and Venus Williams back playing doubles11:09 Sara Bejlek reemerges13:51 Brandon Nakashima back on the rise16:08 A look at the Cincinnati Men's finalists19:55 A look at the Cincinnati Women's Finalists29:45 The US Open Starts Now34:19 Qualifiers to watch at the US Open40:00 Top names in US Open Mixed Doubles43:08 Jack Draper and Jannik Sinner out of the US Open48:30 Our US Open Guide is Live

Nir Eyal is a bestselling author, behavioral science expert, and keynote speaker who helps individuals and organizations understand how psychology and technology shape human behavior. He is the author of the bestselling books Hooked, Indistractable, and Beyond Belief, which have sold over one million copies, been translated into over 30 languages, and earned recognition from The New York Times, Amazon, Audible, and The Globe and Mail. A former Stanford Graduate School of Business lecturer, Nir has worked with organizations, including JPMorgan Chase and the US Air Force and invested in companies including Canva and Kahoot. He helps people build better habits, improve focus, and reach their full potential. In this episode… Why do some people turn knowledge into lasting change while others remain stuck in the same patterns? We have access to more books, podcasts, and expert advice than ever before, yet lasting transformation often feels out of reach. If information isn't the problem, what is the missing piece that drives real change? Nir Eyal, bestselling author and behavioral science expert, says lasting change begins by examining the beliefs behind our actions. He explains that sustained motivation depends not only on knowing what to do and understanding the benefits, but also on having beliefs that support persistence. Rather than treating beliefs as fixed truths, Nir encourages viewing them as tools that can be tested and reshaped. He illustrates this through examples ranging from Serena Williams' coach using "belief hacking" to build confidence to Amazon's "Day One" philosophy of continual innovation. He also shares practical methods, including inquiry-based stress reduction, to help people challenge limiting beliefs, improve relationships, and unlock greater personal and professional potential. In this episode of the Inspired Insider Podcast, host Dr. Jeremy Weisz sits down with Nir Eyal to discuss how beliefs shape performance, leadership, and personal growth. They explore why persistence matters more than talent, how leaders cultivate empowering beliefs, and practical ways to reframe limiting mindsets. Nir also shares why questioning common psychological assumptions can lead to better decisions and lasting change.

Could GLP-1 medications eventually cost just $40 to $50 per month? Hims & Hers CEO Andrew Dudum thinks so, and if he's right, it could completely change access to obesity treatment in America. But getting there may depend on something most patients have never heard of: the global peptide manufacturing supply chain. In this episode of The Weekly Dose from On The Pen, Dave Knapp, Man on the Mounjaro, breaks down one of the biggest weeks in GLP-1 and obesity medicine news, including the surprising role of Chinese pharmaceutical manufacturer WuXi AppTec, which Bloomberg described as having a “GLP-1 chokehold” while U.S. policymakers wrestle with reducing America's dependence on Chinese biotechnology. We also dig into one of the strangest GLP-1 stories of the year. Amylyx Pharmaceuticals just reported positive Phase 3 results for avexitide, a GLP-1 receptor antagonist, meaning it actually BLOCKS GLP-1. The drug reduced serious hypoglycemic events by 55% in patients with post-bariatric hypoglycemia, a debilitating condition that can occur after gastric bypass surgery. Then we get personal.Online personality Clavicular recently described becoming apathetic while taking a high dose of retatrutide, renewing the conversation around GLP-1 medications, anhedonia, emotional blunting, dopamine and reward signaling. Dave has firsthand experience with anhedonia during GLP-1 treatment and previously discussed that experience as part of coverage on the Today Show.At what point does turning down food noise start turning down everything else?We also examine Serena Williams' return to professional tennis while openly using Zepbound (tirzepatide) and the growing debate over whether GLP-1 medications could ever be considered performance-enhancing drugs in professional sports.Plus, new research suggests GLP-1 medications and significant weight loss may improve testosterone levels and fertility markers in men with obesity-related low testosterone, raising important questions about metabolic health, hypogonadism and when testosterone replacement therapy may or may not be appropriate. In this episode:

Will Joining the School of Podcasting Help Me?I got an email from someone who has been podcasting three months and they wanted to know if my "Grow Your Podcast" live classes would help them. Do I Need a Coach?Tiger Woods, Serena Williams, Oprah Winfrey, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, Bill Gates all had personal coaches. With this in mind having a coach is good (as I spotted three things wrong with your show after spending five minutes looking at it). I want to monetize eventually if it is possible but I'd say my podcast is more ministry focused right now Monetization? I wrote the book on it.Would there be other people in my space to have as guests or do podcast swaps with or are most of the people in your school more about business growth or AI growth etc.?Yes, we have collaborations with members all the time. I also have a resource list where you can find guests, etc. Examples, Dr. Craig Van Slyke is the host of AI Goes to College. Ralph Estep Jr. has been an accountant and business coach for decades.Would there be other things I need to invest in to be “successful” in your school? As always, "It depends" as I'm not sure 100% where you are, but for most people no if you're already going. In many cases you're just going in a slightly wrong direction. For example, yes YouTube is a discovery platform, but nobody is talking about how audio SMASHES video in audience 15 to 1 as there are many more opportunities to listen than to watch. So if you want to do video, do video, but you don't have to. Podcasting is simple (find out what the audience wants and give it to them in a fun and entertaining fashion), but not easy. I believe your downloads are equal to the value you deliver multiplied by your smart marketing efforts. I saw the creation of a podpage is free which I have thought about since I launched but still can't decide if that is the best fit or a traditional website?Only if you want less headaches, more exposure, and a tool designed for podcasters (vs trying to squeeze your podcast into a yoga studio theme). I've been singing the praises of Podpage since I was hired by the founder back in 2020 (which got me in trouble at Libsyn where I worked at the time). I eventually left libsyn and joined Podpage because it's so amazing.Mentioned:School of Podcasting - Podcast Growth CourseDave's Private CoachingPodpageTakeaways:Joining the School of Podcasting can totally help you grow your podcast skills and audience.Monetization takes time and effort; you don't just slap ads onto a show and cash in!The community at the School of Podcasting is awesome for networking and swapping promos with fellow podcasters.Using tools like PodPage can save you headaches and help your podcast shine online, trust me!The Grow Your Podcast course starts on August 19th, and it's gonna be a blast! If you join now, you can participate in listener parties to get real-time feedback on your show.Join free with a money-back guarantee Mentioned in this episode:Podcasting in Six Weeks - Free CourseWe are bringing back Podcasting in Six Weeks and this time we are running an experiment and that is IT's FREE. The book is an in-depth and up-close look at the sport's modern era, its stars, and what it takes to succeed in professional tennis. Using his incredible access, Matt speaks to players and team members on his quest to empathetically figure out why the sport seems to take such a toll on everyone and whether there are any secret codes that will allow players to thrive at the summit of this brutal game. With chapters dedicated to most of the sport's top players, Matt explores the individual paths taken by them, as well as the unique and shared challenges they all face as tennis emerges from the era of The Big 3 and Serena Williams. We speak to Matt about his inspiration for writing the book, some of the most memorable conversations he had over the past three years while working on it, and the recurring themes such as parent-child coaching dynamics and what makes tennis stand out from other sports when it comes to the price paid by its athletes. In this episode of The Coaching Podcast, Coach EM sits down with former ATP professional, Olympic coach, and LTP Academy Co-Director Mike Sell to explore why great coaching begins with understanding the individual. Mike shares practical insights on tailoring development to each player's needs, creating purposeful practice with no wasted repetitions, preparing to win, and remaining calm under pressure—like the flight attendant during turbulence. They also discuss the value of having a second set of eyes on your coaching, the dangers of over-coaching, the importance of asking great questions and listening deeply, and why the best leaders know that coaching is about people, not position. Whether you're coaching athletes, leading a team, or raising children, this conversation is packed with simple yet powerful ideas to help you develop people with greater intention. About Mike Sell Mike Sell is Co-Director of LTP (Live to Play) Academy and Director of the LTP Pro Program.
