Magnetite Mines Ltd CEO Tim Dobson highlights the company's key achievements and future plans following the release of a second-quarter activities report. Dobson emphasized the company's strategic partnerships and technical advancements, particularly in water supply engineering for its Razorback Iron Ore Project. A significant accomplishment for the company was a successful capital raise, exceeding their target with $6.5 million, which closed in late November. This achievement was crucial, especially considering the challenging investment climate for micro-cap stocks on the ASX. Dobson also discussed Magnetite Mines' focus on developing relationships with strategic partners in Japan and the Middle East, driven by the growing demand for green steel. These regions, especially the Middle East, are rapidly investing in green iron production, making them prime markets for Magnetite Mines' high-grade iron ore from the Razorback project. Further, the interview touched on the company's negotiations for joint ventures, which are progressing well. These partnerships are vital for the project's long-term success and are being carefully cultivated, considering both technical and geopolitical factors. Additionally, Dobson highlighted a memorandum of understanding with Pacific Partnerships for financing and project collaboration. This partnership aligns with the company's large-scale infrastructure needs and its commitment to green steel and iron production in Australia. An essential aspect of the company's strategy is its focus on sustainability and responsible mining. This commitment is evident in their partnership agreement with the Ngadjuri Nation, emphasizing respectful and sustainable stakeholder relations. Lastly, Dobson addressed the challenge of water supply for mining operations in Australia. The company is exploring various options, including saline water processing, and is in discussions with the South Australian Government to support a multiuser water pipeline, which could provide a sustainable and scalable solution for water supply needs. #MagnetiteMines #TimDobson #MiningIndustry #GreenSteel #IronOreMining #SustainableMining #InvestmentStrategies #ASX #MicroCapStocks #CapitalRaising #StrategicPartnerships #Japan #MiddleEast #GreenIronProduction #RazorbackProject #JointVentures #PacificPartnerships #NgadjuriNation #AustralianMining #WaterSupplySolutions #SalineWaterProcessing #MiningTechnology #CorporateSustainability #DefinitiveFeasibilityStudy #GreenIron #SteelIndustry #MiningInnovation #ProactivInterview #ProactiveInvestors #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews

About Strategic Minerals Strategic Minerals plc is an AIM-quoted, profitable operating minerals company actively developing projects tailored to materials expected to benefit from strong demand in the future. It has an operation in the United States of America along with development projects in the UK and Australia. The Company is focused on utilising its operating cash flows, along with capital raisings, to develop high quality projects aimed at supplying the metals and minerals likely to be highly demanded in the future. In September 2011, Strategic Minerals acquired the distribution rights to the Cobre magnetite tailings dam project in New Mexico, USA, a cash-generating asset, which it brought into production in 2012 and which continues to provide a revenue stream for the Company. This operating revenue stream is utilised to cover company overheads and invest in development projects aimed at supplying the metals and minerals likely to be highly demanded in the future. In May 2016, the Company entered into an agreement with New Age Exploration Limited and, in February 2017, acquired 50% of the Redmoor Tin/Tungsten project in Cornwall, UK. The bulk of the funds from the Company's investment were utilised to complete a drilling programme that year. The drilling programme resulted in a significant upgrade of the resource. This was followed in 2018 with a 12-hole 2018 drilling programme has now been completed and the resource update that resulted was announced in February 2019. In March 2019, the Company entered into arrangements to acquire the balance of the Redmoor Tin/Tungsten project which was settled on 24 July 2019 by way of a vendor loan which was fully repaid on 26 June 2020. In March 2018, the Company completed the acquisition of the Leigh Creek Copper Mine situated in the copper rich belt of South Australia and brought the project temporarily into production in April 2019. In July 2021, the project was granted a conditional approval by the South Australian Government for a Program for Environmental Protection and Rehabilitation (PEPR) in relation to mining of its Paltridge North deposit and processing at the Mountain of Light installation. PODCAST EPISODE 78 of the Bees with Ben podcast features Kevin Tracy, the queen bee guru from Queensland's Gold Coast. Originally from Chicago, Kevin says he's more Australian than Australia, but he still hasn't managed to lose the tell-tale accent (he claims it is 100% Queenslander!). Kevin is the owner and manager of BeeZone Apiaries Queen Bees and Training, and besides producing queens, honey and delivering pollination services, he also offers comprehensive training for apiarists, and in this capacity has educated beekeepers across the country. He is a member of beekeeping associations in four states, as well as being actively involved in the Australian Biosecurity Bee Emergency Response Team (BERT) and the Australian Queen Bee Breeders Association, and assisted in the South Australian Government's Bushfire Recovery programme and with the ‘Outback Academy', an indigenous not-for-profit organisation. Kevin is also in demand as a guest speaker, and has a very entertaining style, as you will no doubt discover. Kevin says he initially purchased a couple of hives as he thought bees were cool and fitted in with his permaculture lifestyle, but admits to knowing nothing about them at the time - a big mistake in retrospect, since he was stung so severely that he was comatose for three days. Eventually he returned to beekeeping and became focussed upon the production of queens. He says there is a certain magic or mythology that surrounds the creation of queens, but that in reality it is actually quite simple. Kevin says he is convinced that everyone should produce their own queens and is committed to teaching apiarists how to achieve this. He's on a mission and will travel anywhere to fulfil this objective. When asked to describe the perfect queen, he unhesitatingly replied, ‘Elizabeth!' Seriously, Kevin says a good queen is the one that does what you need for your colony - colour or appearance is of no significance. Interestingly, he says the hardest part of creating queens is the timetable. We also talked about pests and diseases, and the challenges of keeping bees in south-east Queensland. Kevin provided a fascinating insight into his selection process for queens, whilst reiterating that he is a big fan of ‘local vigour'. The controversy surrounding feeding bees was covered in some detail, and Kevin revealed his pet hate - the Dunning-Kruger effect. This may be defined as a ‘cognitive bias in which people overestimate their knowledge of ability in a specific domain'. Unfortunately, according to Kevin, it is prevalent in some bee groups! Kevin is incredibly knowledgeable and quite a character. Do queen bees have crowns? And why, given the choice of any historical figure, would Kevin choose to share a coffee with Joan of Arc? You will have to listen to the podcast to find out more! https://www.facebook.com/beezoneapiaries

WWF has been proud to collaborate with Good Will Hunters on this series, in the lead up to COP26, the UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow. COP is kicking off on 31 October, just a few days after this episode is released. As we enter COP, we'd love to hear your reflections on the series. You can join the conversation via @goodwillpod or #RegenerateAustralia. In our final episode, we speak to Minister Dan van Holst Pellekaan, Minister for Energy and Mining in the South Australian Government, as well as Marian Wilkinson, award winning Australian journalist and author of The Carbon Club. First, you'll hear us speak to Dan, about South Australia's policies and investments in renewable energy, then, you'll hear us speak to Marian, about the current climate politics in Australia and COP26. As the last in the series as, this conversation picked up an theme across all 7 conservations in this series. Marian is right that to go forward we must leave the ugly past behind. Dan's bi-partisan description of how his government has built on, and then lifted the previous government renewable energy policy is a great lesson for policy makers - in playing to where the puck is going - that has today positioned South Australia as a national leader in Renewable Energy. Australia as a country is fast approaching its own “Netflix moment”. Each of the 7 conversations have been clear, if we don't seize this moment today, we will miss out. This is a once in a century opportunity for Australia to pivot and be a global superpower in sustainability – delivering innovative solutions for both people and planet. The Tasman nations are now the lands of laughs for the rest of the world as Australia starts construction on quarantine camps and New Zealand rushes to hunt down cases and herd them into isolation facilities before ending its nationwide lockdown. Join Tim and Dieuwe on this week's Trad Tasman Talk. At present Victoria, New South Wales, the ACT and New Zealand are in hard lockdown due to delta variant outbreaks. Christian news satire website the Babylon Bee has made the comparison of Australia's current covid lockdown tyranny with life in Afghanistan under the Taliban. The Bee also shared a local 9News report that has gone viral around the world which featured the hunt for a covid positive fugitive and authorities checking the papers of construction workers. With the current trans-Tasman Delta outbreaks continuing to grow despite their hard lockdowns the focus is turning to governments vaccinating their way to reopening. However modest freedoms will only be available for those who are fully vaccinated with NSW already planning to integrate vaccine passports/certificates into their QR check-in apps. Many businesses are already stating once they reopen they will only be permitted vaccinated people on their premises. Side effects from the Pfizer vaccine continuing to occur with two Australian journalists hospitalised due to heart inflammation. Queensland announced they would be building their own quarantine camp which will be a part of Australia's network of 'National Centres for Resillance'. The South Australian Government announced that those undergoing home quarantine will have to put signs on their front door that state as such. The Wellington City Council has been appaled at anti-vaxx graffiti in the city which the Mayor claims are just as bad as racism. While governments, law enforcement and the mainstream media are now targeting anti-vaxx and anti-lockdown activists they still have time to focus on the so-called 'far-right' threat. 60 Minutes Australia just aired a two-part expose on the National Socialist Network using hidden camera footage of an infiltrator. NZ Project Co-Host Patrick Gower has produced a documentary of racism as 'an apology' for his terrible mistake of interviewing Lauren Southern and Stefan Molyneux a year before the Christchurch massacre. Together with new Regulations and Standards – the SAS Act introduces simpler processes and clear responsibilities for employers, apprentices and trainees, registered training organisations, group training organisations and state government agencies.    Importantly, the changes will be overseen by a new South Australian Skills Commission (SASC) which came into operation on 1 July, 2021.  Under the leadership of Renee Hindmarsh, the Commission will continue to work with industry to make it easier for employers to train and up-skill staff and for our future workers to complete their training and qualifications.  The reforms to the training sector will see South Australia continue its nation-leading growth in apprenticeship and trainee commencements.  More information on the new South Australian Skills Commission is available at www.skillscommission.sa.gov.au

What are some of the achievements for Frank so far? Our current shareholders are all South Australian based or ex-South Australians. We are an organization of choice for Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) internship program, mainly for machine learning. Our pilot is being independently run by Dr Miranda Van Hooff, Ex Director of Military and Emergency Services Health Australia. We have started securing foundation customer organizations such as Police Health and in final stages of negotiations and approvals with SA Department of Treasury and Finance, Scotch College and Gallagher Bassett. We have regularly seek the advice of our Advisory Board Chair Leesa Chesser, former SA Minister for Disability, Mental Health and Substance Abuse. We also periodically seek advise from; Professor Alexander McFarlane Dr Paula Dabovich Raymond Spencer Glen Rosie David Knox 9. What’s next for the team behind Frank? Pilot The first phase of Frank’s pilot is being facilitated by Dr Miranda van Hooff and her team at MESHA. The pilot is open to Australian Android users and over 200 people have been onboard so far. With the pilot still active, we have sent some data to MESHA for preliminary analysis, with an assessment to be provided in the next couple of weeks. Early feedback regarding the open-source keyboard, utilized solely for phase one pilot, was consistent with our assumptions, and has presented some challenges for pilot users, but is providing HCI with the necessary data to make an informed and objective assessment on our hypothesis. We have secured three pilot organizations for the 2nd Phase Pilot and have generated interest from other organizations, which we are exploring. Just a reminder, please “like” us on Facebook and LinkedIn Capital Raise Our capital raise round is open with the round closing on 30 June. Thank you to those who have reinvested and welcome to our new investors. Just a reminder that we have applied for a grant through the South Australian Government’s Research and Commercialisation Startup Fund (RCSF). The RCSF grant will provide significant leverage for investors, with the grant (if approved) making up 44% of our investment round. Matching the funding dollar-for-dollar is a requirement of our application, so we appreciate anyone who can make a financial commitment. The due date is 30 April 2021 to demonstrate matched funding ($350,000). Failure to do so will require HCI to restart the RCSF application process again. While not preferable, it’s certainly not catastrophic. We have all of the documentation from the EOI stage, as well as the final application, and should be able to progress through quite quickly, with the results from phase one pilot in hand as well. We have submitted an application to a few VC and Angel funds. In addition to investor dinners/presentations through CoVentured and Innovation Bay, to help boost the raise. Results of some of our applications are still pending. However, our Impaqt Fund application is looking promising and we will have a result in early June. We have been selected as a finalist for Innovation Bay’s Startup Showcase at Southstart and will pitch on the 4th May in Adelaide. Our Southern Angels application has also been successful and we will be presenting to them on 3rd May. We are also exploring the 2:1:1 matched funding opportunity with the Digital Health CRC after recently speaking with CEO, Dr Terry Sweeney. Briony’s SheEO membership and involvement in SheEO and Chooks SA continues to be fruitful, providing great exposure and presenting some of our current opportunities and new investment. Our Social Lights Podcast interview took place last week and we are waiting for it to be published online. We presented at Australian Healthcare Week Pitchfest, after being selected as one of eight finalists from over 65 startups throughout Australia. We didn’t win but were honoured to be selected amongst some very high calibre (and well-funded) startups, gained some terrific exposure, received some excellent feedback and made some great connections. Special Announcement As mentioned briefly above…. We have been selected as a finalist for Innovation Bay’s Startup Showcase at Southstart in May. We have been advised by the Events Manager that the event attracted a high number of applicants resulting in a highly competitive selection process. As you can imagine, we’re really excited about this opportunity. Our Southern Angels application has also been successful and we will be presenting to them in May as well. 10 How can people be part of the development?

We have started securing foundation customer organizations such as Police Health and in final stages of negotiations and approvals with SA Department of Treasury and Finance, Scotch College and Gallagher Bassett. We have regularly seek the advice of our Advisory Board Chair Leesa Chesser, former SA Minister for Disability, Mental Health and Substance Abuse. We also periodically seek advise from; Professor Alexander McFarlane Dr Paula Dabovich Raymond Spencer Glen Rosie David Knox 9. What's next for the team behind Frank? Pilot The first phase of Frank's pilot is being facilitated by Dr Miranda van Hooff and her team at MESHA. Just a reminder that we have applied for a grant through the South Australian Government's Research and Commercialisation Startup Fund (RCSF). While not preferable, it's certainly not catastrophic. We have been selected as a finalist for Innovation Bay's Startup Showcase at Southstart and will pitch on the 4th May in Adelaide. Our Southern Angels application has also been successful and we will be presenting to them on 3rd May. We are also exploring the 2:1:1 matched funding opportunity with the Digital Health CRC after recently speaking with CEO, Dr Terry Sweeney. Briony's SheEO membership and involvement in SheEO and Chooks SA continues to be fruitful, providing great exposure and presenting some of our current opportunities and new investment. Our Social Lights Podcast interview took place last week and we are waiting for it to be published online. We presented at Australian Healthcare Week Pitchfest, after being selected as one of eight finalists from over 65 startups throughout Australia. We didn't win but were honoured to be selected amongst some very high calibre (and well-funded) startups, gained some terrific exposure, received some excellent feedback and made some great connections. Special Announcement As mentioned briefly above…. We have been selected as a finalist for Innovation Bay's Startup Showcase at Southstart in May. We have been advised by the Events Manager that the event attracted a high number of applicants resulting in a highly competitive selection process. As you can imagine, we're really excited about this opportunity. Our Southern Angels application has also been successful and we will be presenting to them in May as well. 10 How can people be part of the development?

The Australian government has offered us a path from coronavirus lockdown to freedom. A free coronavirus vaccine that although it hasn't been approved yet will be encouraged to be mandatory. The Uncuckables panel discusses this price for freedom on this week's show with Tim Wilms Editor of The Unshackled, David Hiscox Editor of the XYZ, James Fox Higgins Director of Rational Rise TV and Logan Spalding. The show begins with James providing an update on the future of Rational Rise TV and Champions of the Light which will be moving to complete independent self-managed server under his complete control which will be deplatform-proof. Google has alleged through an open letter to Australians that a proposed news media bargaining code will force it to give over more data and favour big mainstream media outlets. The ACCC called this misinformation and the code is only about social media giants paying mainstream media fair remuneration for sharing their content. For us at the Uncuckables it's funny to see the globalists now eating each other. Scott Morrison announced he had secured the manufacturing of a free coronavirus vaccine for all Australians based on the Oxford vaccine which is still undergoing stage 3 clinical trials. Morrison first said the vaccine would be made as 'mandatory as possible' before staying it would be 'strongly encouraged. Federal Deputy CMO Dr Nick Coatesworth suggested a no jab, no pay policy could be introduced and international travel and venue bans could be made against the unvaccinated.  Despite the Victorian coronavirus curve continue to trend downwards other states are firming up their border closures separating families and denying education and work to others living in border communities. What was even more outrageous was the South Australian Government's plan to allow international students to return to study while banning Australian students from Victoria. Clive Palmer's court challenge to border closures under section 92 of Australia's Constitution appears to be the only way to tear them down. New Zealand's High Court found the first 9 days of their first coronavirus lockdown was unlawful.  Dan Andrews has extended the state of emergency to its six-month maximum limit, he would have to amend legislation if he wanted to continue the state of emergency indefinitely. Andrews has said if not enough Victorians get tested he might not relax restrictions. The state's CHO has admitted the that invasive coronavirus test doesn't pick up asymptomatic carriers and all those who die while having the virus are counted in the death tally. Despite Victoria currently under stage 4 restrictions until September 13th the October local government elections will proceed on time. Voters should pay attention to whom they are voting for to make sure they don't accidentally elect more Greens and Socialists. Former Footy Show host Sam Newman has expressed interest again in running for Lord Mayor. A 'free the flag' campaign has been launched over the Australian Aboriginal Flag which was designed by Harold Thomas in 1971 who owns the copyright and licensing rights to the flag. This campaign was triggered by the fact the AFL could not use the flag during their Indigenous Round.  In the United States election season one of the Internet's most censored personalities Laura Loomer won the Republican party primary for Florida's 21st congressional district. President Trump pardoned suffrage advocate Susan B Anthony on the anniversary of the passing of the 19th Amendment. Trump also called out Goodyear tyres for banning MAGA hats for their workers but allowing social justice advocacy in the workplace.  The Uncuckables Links: Entropy: https://entropystream.live/app/theuncuckables Website: http://theuncuckables.com/ https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/the-uncuckables-podcast/id1469242261 https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-uncuckables https://tunein.com/podcasts/News--Politics-Podcasts/The-Uncuckables-p

Tasmania will feature in the new block of fixtures in Round 11 and 12 but we think that this would be the perfect opportunity to have a state-represented Tasmanian team that can be used to showcase their talent and play AFL Reserve sides in place of the VFL competition, we believe the same should apply to the Northern Territory. The South Australian Government is promoting a plan to import high-level radioactive waste from around the world, and dump it in SA. Government teams armed with shiny banners and scale models are making 100 “Know Nuclear” visits around the state. We followed them to the remote north, into the heart of the Anangu-Pitjantjatjara-Yankunytjatjara lands. To guide us in this journey, we hear from the indomitable Lester family; Yankunytjatjara elder Yami Lester and his daughters Rosemary and Karina. Image: four generations (Yami, Rosemary, Kiah and Lucy) at Walatinna, September 2016.  This show is Earth Matters #1054 and was produced by Gem Romuld.

Ep 144: Two-up - an ANZAC Tradition

2012 update: I had a chat to Chris Coleman of ABC Riverina about the maths behind two-up. Check it out here and read on for the 2009 article on the maths. It's an Australian tradition on ANZAC Day to take yourself down to your local pub and play Two-up - an Aussie gambling game in which you toss two coins in the air and bet on the outcome.I'm somewhat embarrassed to say that even though I am only a month away from turning 30, this year was the first time I've ever actually gambled on two-up.It's not a game that is played very often, despite being iconically Australian - according to the GAMBLING (TWO-UP) ACT 1998, outside of casinos it is only legal to play two-up on commemorative days like ANZAC Day (unless you're in Broken Hill, where the local council can legally arrange a two-up game any day of the year). The rules of two-up are pretty simple. The Spinner places two coins (traditionally pennies) on a small piece of wood (the kip) and tosses the coins into the air. In the version of two-up we played at the pub, the gambling was very simple. Players standing around the Spinner either gambled on HEADS - which is where both coins come up heads - or TAILS - which is where both coins come up tails. If a head and a tail come up, the coins are tossed again and no one wins or loses. To bet, you find someone else willing to gamble the same amount but opposite to you, and then you have a one-on-one contest. If you want to bet $10 on HEADS, then you find someone willing to bet $10 on TAILS, and if you win you get their $10 - if you lose, you hand over $10. It's very simple and I love its inbuilt honour system. The probabilities involved are simple too - you have a 50% chance of winning each time you bet. At the start of our ANZAC day down in Balmain, most people were betting $5. By the end of the day, as more beers were consumed, many were betting $50 and $100. Gambler's Ruin also started to show it's head - many people think that by doubling your bet after you lose you can get yourself back into the game. This doesn't work in this form of two-up for a couple of reasons. The first is that you need to find someone willing to bet the same amount as you, which is increasingly unlikely the larger you want to bet. And secondly, unless you have unlimited funds (or strictly speaking, more than everyone else you could bet against - or the casino if you are gambling there), it is highly unlikely that you could continually bet without going out backwards.Two-up is also played in casinos and other gambling houses, and not just on ANZAC day. The rules, as you would expect from such institutions, are not so simple. In this expanded form of the game, there are a number of ways to bet. The South Australian Government has a good guide to two-up play, but simply put:Players can bet in the following ways:1) HEADS - odds of 1/1 ($1 bet pays $2, including your original $1);2) TAILS - odds of 1/1;3) 5 consecutive ODDS - odds of 25/1 ($1 bet pays $26).The Spinner can bet in the following ways:1) 3 HEADS are thrown before TAILS is thrown and before 5 consecutive ODDS are thrown - odds of 7.5/1 ($1 bet pays $8.50);2) 3 TAILS are thrown before HEADS is thrown and before 5 consecutive ODDS are thrown - odds of 7.5/1.This makes the game a little bit more interesting. The Wizard of Odds website for two-up sets out the probabilities for each of these outcomes - let's derive where they come from. At each toss of the kip, for this analysis it is best to think of there being 3 possible outcomes - HEADS, TAILS or 5 consecutive ODDS. We think of it this way because if a single ODDS is thrown, it is re-thrown and only makes a difference if it is one of five in a row.Player Odds:As you can see, the House is paying out as if the odds are better than they actually are. It's not much, but this is how they make their money.Spinner Odds:Again we can see, the House is not paying enough for a win - the odds should be 7.8 to 1, rather than 7.5 to 1. However, were you to back HEADS on each throw rather than as the group of three, the house would offer you odds of 7 to 1 (this is left as an exercise for the reader...), so the spinner's bet is better. As it turns out, I came out even at the end of the day! There's some more maths to be had here - sometime soon we might take a look at some of these pay-out distributions.
