For Decades Alfred Hawthorne Hill -- known to us as Benny Hill -- was a titan of British (and later American) television comedy with a show that blended slapstick, parody, mime, and a generous helping of double entendre. Benny presided over the show with a rascally gleam in his eye and Boots Randolph's hit "Yakety Sax" was used as the theme -- to the point people had no idea it wasn't written just for the show. Feeling Benny had run his course (after 35 years!) tv bigwigs axed the program in 1989, but the British public begged to differ, keeping it popular in reruns and DVD reissues to this day. It's another season in Charlotte, and hopefully a good for a Knights team that wasn't just bad in 2022, but embarrassingly so, as just one-third of Charlotte starts were made by legit starting pitchers. Darren Black hopped on with Brett Ballantini to discuss the highest level, yet somewhat AAAA status, of the Chicago minor-league system: The biggie: Will the Knights start actual starting pitchers this season? With Davis Martin, Sean Burke, Jonathan Stiever and John Parke, it appears so. Maybe not 100% of the time, but we're hoping for 80%. Brett immediately carves out an exception to the 100% goal — if Davis Martin or Sean Burke need to be called up immediately to take the spot of our fifth starter, [redacted], all good Between Gregory Santos and Franklin German, there are two MLB-ready arms in Charlotte, and on the southpaw side, it's Tanner Banks. When did Thunderbolt Fantasy become a comedy? Well, it's not really funny for Young, but Zachary and Bryan are wondering why the trials that were built up to be super challenging are almost a joke. Okay so for reasons I won't go into I had a spot in a project where I wanted something that was "reminiscent of Yakety Sax but sad, weird, and awful". I had the genius idea to just download a midi rendering of Yakety Sax, dick the scale around until it was (approximately) in a diminished key, and then run it through some software instruments. This is the result. I'm not going to be using it for the intended purpose; it sucks, but not in the right way.
