(Note: This episode is from Tonight with Dr. Steve's special Tuesday livestream.)In this episode, we dive into the latest economic shifts under President Trump, from plummeting inflation rates to falling gas and egg prices—real-time data that shows Trump's impact on the economy in just six weeks. We'll break down the latest inflation stats from Truflation, how egg prices have dropped below pre-Biden levels, and the ongoing efforts to tackle soaring gas prices. Plus, we discuss the emerging tariff war with Canada and Mexico, the shift toward economic nationalism, and how Trump's policies are reshaping global trade. In the second part of this episode, I interviewed Doug Wilson, a passionate pastor and advocate for educational reform. We talk about Randi Weingarten's emotional reaction to Trump's proposal to abolish the Department of Education. As the president of the American Federation of Teachers, Weingarten has been a major advocate for progressive, "woke" policies in schools, which have contributed to a crisis in student behavior and a decline in educational standards. We explore how the woke left has infused radical ideologies into classrooms, undermining traditional values, and causing confusion among students. We also highlight the rise of parents and patriots fighting back against this agenda. Tune in as Pastor Doug Wilson offers hope and actionable solutions to reclaim education from indoctrination. He encouraged people to embrace the present moment and find joy in the simple act of being alive.Watts had a way of delivering profound insights with a sense of humor and playfulness. He believed that life should be approached with a sense of wonder and curiosity, and that we should not take ourselves too seriously. His lectures often included anecdotes, stories, and metaphors that helped illustrate his points in an engaging and relatable way.In addition to his lectures, Watts wrote numerous books on topics such as Zen Buddhism, Taoism, and the nature of consciousness. Some of his most well-known works include "The Wisdom of Insecurity," "The Book: On the Taboo Against Knowing Who You Are," and "The Way of Zen."Alan Watts passed away in 1973, but his teachings continue to resonate with people today. What can professional risk-takers — poker players and hedge fund managers, crypto true believers and blue-chip art collectors— teach us much about navigating the uncertainty of the twenty-first century? In the bestselling The Signal and the Noise, statistician Nate Silver showed how forecasting would define the age of Big Data. Now, in his timely and riveting new book, On the Edge, Silver investigates “The River,” or those whose mastery of risk allows them to shape — and dominate — so much of modern life. People in “The River” have increasing amounts of wealth and power in our society, and understanding their mindset — including the flaws in their thinking — is key to understanding what drives technology and the global economy today. There are certain commonalities in this otherwise diverse group: high tolerance for risk, appreciation of uncertainty, affinity for numbers, skill at decoupling, self-reliance, and a distrust of conventional wisdom. For those in The River, complexity is baked in, and the work is how to navigate it, without going beyond the pale. Taking us behind the scenes from casinos to venture capital firms, and from the FTX inner sanctum to meetings of the effective altruism movement, On the Edge is a deeply reported, all-access journey into a hidden world of power brokers and risk-takers. Nate Silver is the founder of FiveThirtyEight and the New York Times bestselling author of The Signal and the Noise. He writes the Substack Silver Bulletin. Clayton Page Aldern is a senior data reporter at Grist. A neuroscientist turned environmental journalist, he holds a master's in neuroscience and a master's in public policy from the University of Oxford, where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar. He is also a research affiliate at the Center for Studies in Demography and Ecology at the University of Washington. With Gregg Colburn, he is the author of Homelessness Is a Housing Problem. His book The Weight of Nature, on the effects of climate change on brain health, is out now from Dutton.   Buy the Book On the Edge: The Art of Risking Everything Third Place Books

He goes on the ground and interviews people in the heart of these climate impact zones.  You'll learn the unique struggles people have as it becomes increasingly expensive…and dangerous…to live in these impact zones. It's hard to know when that'll happen, when there's a tipping point, both in terms of people moving or what that means for politics. But I think that all that I could say about that is that I wouldn't be surprised if 25 years from now, the electoral map looks entirely different from how it does today in part in response to the kind of changes that I write about… So we're having this kind of scary conversation about the economics of home values in California. And then that particular day, I was looking out my window into the wildland urban interface in the suburban place that I that I live in. And I was like, Hey, wait, Jesse, I live right one of these spots you're describing, should I and he just cut me off and presumed my question was, should I live in a place that I live in? should I move? We are embodied reflections of each other. And what that means is that there's no separate self. When you begin to see that, you'll see through the imagination. Wetiko makes us think that we exist in a way that we don't. It makes us think that we exist as a reference point in space and time, as a separate self, and as soon as we see ourselves in that way, we then think the world is objective, separate from us. - Paul Levy Live Life Well from Sunrise to Sunset Save 20% with code "WELLNESSFORCE" on everyone's favorite Superfoods brand, ORGANIFI, including their Sunrise to Sunset Bundle and their Women's Power Stack that includes HARMONY + GLOW for true hormonal balance and great health radiating through your beautiful skin. How is the Wetiko mind virus governing our lives and the world, and what is the most efficient remedy to awaken from the collective dream? Join Paul and Josh as they dive deep into Wetiko. Learn how to recognize Wetiko, what to do to free yourself from it, and how it impacts society and manifests in our day-to-day lives.   Listen To This Special Replay of Episode 503 As Paul Levy Uncovers: [2:45] Poisoning Of The Human Evolution Awaken In The Dream With Paul Levy Wetiko: Healing the Mind-Virus That Plagues Our World by Paul Levy Dispelling Wetiko: Breaking the Curse of Evil by Paul Levy 405 Tim Corcoran | Vision Quest: How To Find Your Place In The Ecology of Life, Purpose Mountain & Spiritual Courage Paul Chek The mind virus: Why the origin of all evil comes from our psyche. 345 Zach Bush MD: Humanity, Consciousness & COVID19 How we get distracted by searching for problems outside of ourselves. Why most spiritual traditions point to the Wetiko mind virus. Carl Jung Why Josh finds it fascinating that the word, “evolution” contains the word, “love.” The reason why we as a society commit collective suicide. Why the mind virus is a source of the greatest evil and how we became its instrument. What it means that the medicine is encoded inside the mind virus.   [9:15] Wetiko Manifestation In Our Everyday Lives What the Wetiko is trying to reveal and why we need to recognize what it's showing us. Kabbalah Kahuna shamanism Christian mysticism How Paul discovered his childhood trauma and the suffering caused by his father wound. How the process of observing his own mind for several years and meditating made him realize that we are having a collective dream. Why his awakening was mistaken for a mental illness. Why he identifies with the shamanic archetype. His realization that the evil he received from his father was manifesting through the system in the psychiatric institution. What happens when an evil cannibalistic spirit takes over people's minds. Trans-personal energy: Higher-dimensional energy that can possess us and keep us “asleep.” How groups of people with power unwillingly become the instrument of trans-personal energy.   [16:15] Our True, Creative Nature VS Collective Psychosis His practice to become familiar with his true nature to avoid being touched by evil. What true nature is according to Paul and how it helps us with Wetiko. Paul explains why nobody is immune to Wetiko. Why a negative father is an archetype that exists in the collective unconscious, and how it relates to domination and objectification of Mother Nature. The Book: On the Taboo Against Knowing Who You Are by Alan Watts Why Josh thinks forcing a meaning of something can make us fall into spiritual bypassing. The reason Paul wrote the book about Wetiko and had to split it into two books. How seeing Wetiko takes away its power and empowers yourself.   [23:40] Fighting Wetiko With Our Consciousness Why the essence of the Medicine Buddha is an inspiration to Paul, and the story behind his tapestry. Wetiko in sacred texts: Why was it edited out of the Bible? How Wetiko offers us a false identity and how it manipulates us through it unless we are able to identify our true self. Uncovering how the Bible indirectly describes Wetiko as a blindness of the mind correlated to the coldness of the heart. Why the revelation of quantum physics is a medicine for Wetiko. What it means that we are the solution and we possess the creative power to heal ourselves from the mind virus. Paul explains a Tibetan Buddhist tradition: Terma (hidden treasure). How quantum physics is a modern-day analog to the Terma: Discovering there is no such thing as an objective world. Why the belief that we are passive witnesses and the world is objective gives power to Wetiko. How dreams become a reflection of our minds, reinforce our viewpoints, and hypnotize ourselves   [36:00] The Collective Dream Of Separate Selves Josh explains why it's impossible to go back to being unconscious after you start your healing journey. What the Bleep Do We Know!? The importance of recognizing that we are in a collectively shared dream. Why the characters in our dreams are aspects of ourselves. There is no separate self: We are embodied reflections of each other. Why seeing ourselves as separate from the world keeps us disconnected from our true nature. What it means that we are unique points of consciousness expressing itself from a source according to Josh.   [40:20] Becoming The Observer + Changing The Past Quantum Revelation: A Radical Synthesis of Science and Spirituality by Paul Levy Why according to quantum physics there is only the present moment, and how we can access our power through it. What it means that the past isn't finished: We can observe the past in this moment and change it through our creative imagination to heal. How we express the atemporal part of us that is conscious in the linear timeline. Unnatural time frequency and mind distortion: How our relation to time causes insanity. Why we put too much emphasis and give meaning to time.   [44:20] Awakening From The Wetiko Dream God is dark and light, everything and nothing, love, and hate. Why our power lies in how we interpret our experience according to Paul. How quantum physics proves to us that we are creating our experience of the world and ourselves moment by moment. The universe is malleable and mutable just like our experiences and who we are. The Art of Happiness: A Handbook for Living by Dalai Lama Why the more you express compassion, the more compassion there is to share. How helping others awaken actually helps us because we are not separate. Bodhisattva: Being in the process of awakening. How awakening can also become contagious that can affect the world in a positive way. The secret power of dreaming: What would happen if we and all characters in our dreams would awaken. Josh sings a song that reminds him of what Paul was talking about.   [51:15] The Self-Induced Mind Blindness What physically impossible things happened to Paul when he started awakening. He tells a story about how he helped a blind woman see again with his words, and how it made him realize he was not insane but awakening. 311 Mark Wolynn | It Didn't Start With You: Ending The Cycle of Inherited Trauma 366 Mark Wolynn | How To Heal Generational Trauma: The Thoughts, Feelings, Patterns & Behaviors Formed Before You Were Ever Born It Didn't Start with You: How Inherited Family Trauma Shapes Who We Are and How to End the Cycle by Mark Wolynn Why the Bible says that mindblindness is self-induced. The essence of Paul's work: Trying to help people open their eyes and see Wetiko. What happens when you recognize the correlation between the outer world and your inner state, and finally recognize the dream.   [57:55] The Source Of Our Suffering A text by Jesus Christ that was edited out from the Bible: “I am a mirror to those that perceive me.” Why the mirror is a symbol of true nature in Buddhism. How identifying ourselves with our unhealed wounds feeds the Wetiko. How Buddha discovered that the source of our suffering is clinging. What it means that there is no Wetiko outside of us and the fear of Wetiko is actually Wetiko.   [01:01:55] The Inner & The Outer Manifestation Of Wetiko 344 Leslie Manookian | COVID19 – The Truth About Flattening The Curve Josh explains collective madness according to Carl Jung. Why Paul believes that Jung used the word ‘totalitarian psychosis' to describe Wetiko. The inner and the outer reflection of Wetiko: How it controls our mind like totalitarianism controls the world. How we can envision who we are and our world through ideas. Why the greatest tyrants in history were scared of new ideas. How our creative power potentiates when we get in phase with each other and become of service to the whole. Paul reveals why quantum physicists lose their job when they try to tell the truth about consciousness. The new symbolic idea: We can change the collective dream we're having.   [01:06:55] How Our Trauma Projects In The World Why the mirror etymologically means a holder of the shadow. Shadow projecting: Not owning our own darkness makes us project it out and embody it. How the evil outside of us is a reflection of ourselves, and why recognizing this brings us closer to our light and goodness. Josh shares his experience with his fear of being dominated. How Paul's father tried to annihilate his light when he saw him stepping into his light because that's what he was doing to himself. The Murder of Christ: The Emotional Plague of Mankind by Wilhelm Reich Unpacking how we are still murdering the Christ; the light force within us, by not being awake. How abuse trauma shows us that we are abusing ourselves.   [01:13:15] The Antidote For Wetiko 481 Scott Jackson | Rewire Yourself: How To Create A Life You Love With Freedom From Subconscious Sabotage Symbols are the language of dreams and the antonym to ‘diabolic': Recognizing the dream-like nature is the antidote for the diabolic energy of Wetiko. How language creates our experience according to Paul. What happens to all the potentialities that don't manifest in the world. Why there is always the possibility of creating a different reality according to quantum physics. Hundredth monkey effect Why it's important to envision ourselves awakening. What wellbeing means to Paul: Connecting with our creative agency and our true nature.   Power Quotes From The Show The World Is A Reflection Of Our Inner World "What's happening externally in the world is reflecting what's happening in the mind, and vice versa. With Wetiko, we all have a potential, when all of a sudden it becomes activated, it will set up this shadow government within our mind. It will subsume the healthy parts of the psyche into its service. It will hijack the psyche. It will colonize our mind. It will dictate to the ego in such a way that we then become in service to it, to the point that we become possessed, we become taken over, we become instruments of our own enslavement. That's exactly what's happening in the world with totalitarianism." - Paul Levy   The Subjective Observation Of The World "There is no such thing as an objective world. That's just an idea in our head that the active observation of the world actually influences the world we're observing. That's the description of a dream. What that means is that the active observation is creative. That's the portal into this immense vast creative power that each one of us has, each and every moment in creating our experience." - Paul Levy   What Feeds The Wetiko Virus "There is no Wetiko outside of us. If people hear about a mind virus and feel afraid, that feeling afraid, that is Wetiko. There's nothing to feel afraid of because there is nothing there. But if we cling to it and give it with reality, then we're colluding with our own victimization, then we're complicit with evil, then we're investing in the reality of Wetiko, and there's nobody else to blame but ourselves." - Paul Levy   Links From Today's Show  Awaken In The Dream With Paul Levy Wetiko: Healing the Mind-Virus That Plagues Our World by Paul Levy Dispelling Wetiko: Breaking the Curse of Evil by Paul Levy 405 Tim Corcoran | Vision Quest: How To Find Your Place In The Ecology of Life, Purpose Mountain & Spiritual Courage Paul Chek 345 Zach Bush MD: Humanity, Consciousness & COVID19 Carl Jung Kabbalah Kahuna shamanism Christian mysticism The Book: On the Taboo Against Knowing Who You Are by Alan Watts What the Bleep Do We Know!? How is the Wetiko mind virus governing our lives and the world, and what is the most efficient remedy to awaken from the collective dream? Join Paul and Josh as they dive deep into Wetiko. Learn how to recognize Wetiko, what to do to free yourself from it, and how it impacts society and manifests in our day-to-day lives.   Listen To Episode 503 As Paul Levy Uncovers: [2:30] Poisoning Of The Human Evolution Awaken In The Dream With Paul Levy Wetiko: Healing the Mind-Virus That Plagues Our World by Paul Levy Dispelling Wetiko: Breaking the Curse of Evil by Paul Levy 405 Tim Corcoran | Vision Quest: How To Find Your Place In The Ecology of Life, Purpose Mountain & Spiritual Courage Paul Chek The mind virus: Why the origin of all evil comes from our psyche. [14:00] Wetiko Manifestation In Our Everyday Lives What the Wetiko is trying to reveal and why we need to recognize what it's showing us. [21:00] Our True, Creative Nature VS Collective Psychosis His practice to become familiar with his true nature to avoid being touched by evil. [28:25] Fighting Wetiko With Our Consciousness Why the essence of the Medicine Buddha is an inspiration to Paul, and the story behind his tapestry. How dreams become a reflection of our minds, reinforce our viewpoints, and hypnotize ourselves   [40:46] The Collective Dream Of Separate Selves Josh explains why it's impossible to go back to being unconscious after you start your healing journey. [45:05] Becoming The Observer + Changing The Past Quantum Revelation: A Radical Synthesis of Science and Spirituality by Paul Levy Why according to quantum physics there is only the present moment, and how we can access our power through it. [49:05] Awakening From The Wetiko Dream God is dark and light, everything and nothing, love, and hate. [56:00] The Self-Induced Mind Blindness What physically impossible things happened to Paul when he started awakening. [01:02:40] The Source Of Our Suffering A text by Jesus Christ that was edited out from the Bible: “I am a mirror to those that perceive me.” Why the mirror is a symbol of true nature in Buddhism. How identifying ourselves with our unhealed wounds feeds the Wetiko. How Buddha discovered that the source of our suffering is clinging. What it means that there is no Wetiko outside of us and the fear of Wetiko is actually Wetiko.   [01:06:40] The Inner & The Outer Manifestation Of Wetiko 344 Leslie Manookian | COVID19 – The Truth About Flattening The Curve Josh explains collective madness according to Carl Jung. [01:11:40] How Our Trauma Projects In The World Why the mirror etymologically means a holder of the shadow. [01:18:00] The Antidote For Wetiko 481 Scott Jackson | Rewire Yourself: How To Create A Life You Love With Freedom From Subconscious Sabotage Symbols are the language of dreams and the antonym to ‘diabolic': Recognizing the dream-like nature is the antidote for the diabolic energy of Wetiko. Sometimes I wonder if there is anything more to say in these episodes. Then I get emails from listeners which remind me there is still more to say because the gospel of nonduality is so easily misunderstood. Nondual awareness is so simple it is missed. It is so close that people don't see it. It is hiding in plain sight. Jesus said, “The Kingdom of the Father is spread out upon the earth and people do not see it.” Tony Parsons calls it the open secret. The common mistake I hear in questions and remarks is that people assume that what they are looking for is not here now. That it is out in the future. It is one practice or one insight or one teacher or one retreat or one teaching away. Then they will get it. They assume something is lacking now. The only problem – if you want to call it that, which it really isn't unless you see it as a problem – is that we forget who and what we are. We have spiritual amnesia. The misapprehension of our essential identity is evident in most of the questions that people ask. Alan Watts has a famous book entitled “The Book On the Taboo Against Knowing Who You Are.” That title sums it up. I read it first over fifty years ago, but it was only ten years ago that I knew what he was talking about.Watts was right. People don't know who they are. That is the problem. For that reason every question they ask comes from who they are not. In other words it is a case of mistaken identity.

This is the first of many episodes that are focused on the Missing Women Task Force.  If you don't know what this is, let me explain.  You should probably go back and listen to the deep dive that is about Ole Wee Willie Pickton, the Canadian Serial Killer that claimed to have killed forty-nine (49) women, was aiming for fifty (50) victims before he took a break.  He was charged with the first degree murder of twenty-seven (27) women.  One of those charges was dismissed, for some inexplicable reason.  He was then tried for only six (6) murders.  Although, he will remain in prison, this was not justice for the forty-three (43) other women he had admitted to murdering.  So Paige and I decided to try to dig into each woman on the Taskforce's flyer and give them a voice.  We cover six (6) women in this episode.  Be warned, there are tears.   1. Getting Clear About What You Want... and Don't Want

Goal setting is a powerful process for thinking about your ideal future, and for motivating yourself to turn your ideas [for the future] into reality. The process of setting goals helps you choose where you want to go in life. By knowing precisely what you want to achieve, you know where you should concentrate your efforts.  You'll also quickly spot the distractions that would otherwise lure you away from your intended direction/goal. Properly focused goals can be incredibly motivating, and as you get into the habit of setting and achieving them, you'll find that your self confidence improves and your vision grows. Goal setting techniques are used widely in business, sport, academic achievement and also in everyday life. They give you long term vision and short term motivation. They focus your quest of knowledge and help you to organise your time and your resources so that you can make the very most of your life.   By setting sharp, clearly defined goals, you can measure and take pride in the achievement of those goals. You can see forward progress in what might previously have seemed a long pointless grind. By setting goals, you will also raise your self confidence, as you recognise your ability and competence in achieving the goals that you have set.   From the Book ‘On the Shoulders of Giants' by Rhondalynn Korolak "You control your future, your destiny. What you think about comes about. By recording your dreams and goals on paper, you set in motion the process of becoming the person you most want to be.  Put your future in good hands – your own." ~ Mark Victor Hansen ~   You have to know what it is you are seeking to achieve in life otherwise it's too easy to drift aimlessly. Years pass like days and next thing you know 20 years have passed and you've still not finished that novel that you started to write, not gone back to school to get that degree, not sorted your financial affairs, never bothered to get around to learning a second language etc. There is one thing that we need to touch on in the context of goal setting – it is the distinction between goals and dreams. And it is this distinction that makes all the difference. Too often, traditional goal setting can seem like a very clinical exercise. Pick up any self-help or business book and it will tell you how to set SMART goals – specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time bound. While I agree with the necessity of these basic factors, I also think it is absolutely crucial to incorporate the element of "dreams" and the "imagination". By their very nature, dreams are illogical, irrational, non-sequential, without specific steps and difficult to measure. However, too many of us get limited in our goal setting by the constraints of our own imagination. We would all like to make an extra $100,000 a year but we have no powerful, compelling reason ‘WHY'. What exactly would you do with another $100,000? That is the critical question to ask yourself …   Connect with ‘what' or ‘why' and the ‘how' will make itself known to you in the most miraculous ways.   Even so, $100,000 is not a huge stretch in today's terms. But most never dare to aspire to double or triple their income. Why is that? The missing element is the realm of dreams and imagination. By its very nature, a dream is something that is potentially unrealistic. However, dreams are incredibly powerful and compelling because they are about who you are becoming, not who you are now. Dreams and imagination lie within the domain of the subconscious mind. By incorporating this additional element into the goal setting process, we connect to the infinite resourcefulness of the subconscious and ignite a passion that will inspire and drive us towards our goals. Financial Foreplay® Highlights: Define your Goals: 1.When setting goals it is very important to remember that your goals must be consistent with your values. 2. A goal can not contradict any of your other goals. For example, you can't buy a $750,000 house if your income goal is only $50,000 per year. This is called non-integrated thinking and will sabotage all of the hard work you put into your goals. Non-integrated thinking can also hamper your everyday thoughts as well. It pays dividends to continually strive to eliminate contradictory ideas from your thinking. 3. Develop goals in the 6 areas of life:                      Family and Home                    Financial and Career                    Spiritual and Ethical                    Physical and Health                    Social and Cultural                    Mental and Educational   Setting goals in each area of life will ensure a more balanced life as you begin to examine and change the fundamentals of everyday living. Setting goals in each area of live also helps in eliminating the non-integrated thinking we talked about in the 2nd step. 4. Write your goal in the positive instead of the negative. Work for what you want, not for what you want to leave behind. Part of the reason why we write down and examine our goals is to create a set of instructions for our subconscious mind to carry out. Your subconscious mind is a very efficient tool, it cannot determine right from wrong and it does not judge. It's only function is to carry out its instructions. The more positive instructions you give it, the more positive results you will get.  Thinking positively in everyday life will also help in your growth as a human being. Don't limit it to goal setting.   5. Write your goal out in great detail. You must give the subconscious mind a detailed set of instructions to work on. The more information you give it, the more clear the final outcome becomes. The more precise the outcome, the more efficient the subconscious mind can become.   6. By all means, make sure your goal is high enough.   7. This is the most important, writing down your goals creates the roadmap to your success. Although just the act of writing them down can set the process in motion, it is also extremely important to review your goals frequently. Remember, the more focused you are on your goals the more likely you are to accomplish them. Sometimes we realise we have to revise a goal as circumstances and other goals change. If you need to change a goal do not consider it a failure, consider it a victory as you had the insight to realise something needed adjustment.  MY RESULT Goal Setting Formula   Whilst you need the capacity to dream you also need to be able to move that vision from the ethereal to the material and that is where MY RESULT goal setting methodology comes in:   M          Measurable result. How will you know when you get there? What does the end step look like? Y            Why? For what purpose/intention do you want it? Do not be afraid to dream BIG here!   R            Realistic and achievable. Don't be afraid to set a longer-term goal that is a stretch or a challenge. E            Ecological – is it good for you, others and the planet? S            Specific, clear and concise goals – ensure you subconscious mind knows what it is working towards. U           You have it now. The goal must be written in the present, as if you have it now and signed by you. L             Looking toward your goal - not moving away from what you do not want. Action-oriented. T            Time bound - must have a specific achievement date.

Professor Guy Claxton is a hugely influential academic, thinker and author of over 30 books on learning, intelligence and creativity, including Hare Brain, Tortoise Mind, Wise Up, What's the point of school, Intelligence in the flesh, Educating Ruby and the Learning Power Approach. Guy's latest book, The future of teaching and the myths that hold it back, is a blistering critique of what is increasingly a neotraditional orthodoxy. It is scheduled for release in Spring 2021, and Guy has very kindly agreed to come back on the show when the book comes out to discuss the issues he raises in detail. In this episode, we have a much more expansive conversation about education, and about our shared passion – teaching young people how to teach themselves. Guy has an enviable knack for expressing ideas about Learning to Learn that I have thought about for years but struggled to express. To give you a flavor, I will end this introduction with a couple of short excerpts from his recent book, The Learning Powered Approach: “Schools should be preparing kids to flourish in a complicated and demanding world. Just trying to squeeze better test scores out of them is not enough. We know that, in the long run, character counts for more than examination results. To prosper – to live good lives – today's students will need curiosity, determination, concentration, imagination, camaraderie, thoughtfulness and self-discipline as well as literacy, numeracy, general knowledge, and the best possible grades. These attributes contribute hugely to people's success and fulfilment in life. And we also know that they are capable of being intentionally developed – or unintentionally stifled. The desire to cultivate them has to be at the heart of every school's endeavour.” And here is the second excerpt, in which Guy suggests that the question of how to develop these character traits is cultural rather than curricular: “Such dispositions cannot be ‘taught' directly. Of course they can be made explicit and talked about, and that helps, but merely understanding the concept of ‘resilience', say, and even being able to write an A-grade essay about it, does not by itself make you any more resilient. Character is a constellation of habits, and habits are tendencies that are built up over time. If you regularly find yourself in a culture – a family, for example – where the people you look up to continually model, value and expect politeness, honesty or curiosity, you are likely to grow towards those qualities, as a plant grows toward the sun. Such habits begin to become part of your natural way of being.” Here are a few links to things we discuss: BOOK: On becoming a person, by Carl Rogers: https://uk.bookshop.org/books/on-becoming-a-person/9781845290573 BOOK: What's the point of school, by Guy Claxton: https://uk.bookshop.org/books/what-s-the-point-of-school-rediscovering-the-heart-of-education/9781851686032 VIDEO: The Scary Guy Combats Bullying on Teachers TV: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=js8Hrqvk8QM BOOK: Fear is the Mind Killer: Why Learning to Learn deserves lesson time - and how to make it work for your pupils, by James Mannion and Kate McAllister: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fear-Mind-Killer-teaching-Learning/dp/1911382772 The Rethinking Education podcast is hosted and produced by Dr James Mannion. He remembers making the decision to live. That decision has affected his story, live and mission since that moment. John now lives to inspire people to live this full life now. LIVING TO INSPIRE Recently, I had an opportunity to sit down with John, a St. Louis native and capture his story and the message he uses to inspire people to this Full Life. It was such an honor getting to sit down with him. You are going to love this Story Session. RESOURCES MENTIONED ON THE SHOW John’s Book – On fire John’s Website

Special Guest Inman Moore. Inman is a civil rights activist, retired Methodist minister, author, and columnist for the Pasadena Weekly. Inman was born and raised in Mississippi and found himself in the middle of the civil rights movement in the 1960s. Inman faced a choice to either remain silent and keep his life as it was or risk his livelihood by speaking up taking action. Also with Paul Cole Padilla.   If there’s just one thing I’ve learned in my short time in activism, it’s that to create lasting change we need to support each other and keep showing up.   This episode was mixed by Josh Wagner.   Schmolitics is Dan Gordon, communications and policy for progressive campaigns and causes.   To hear this and every episode, become a Schmolitics member on Patreton.com. Siqi Chen is the VP of Growth at Postmates, the leading on-demand logistics provider.  He was previously the co-founder and CEO of Hey (acquired by Postmates), maker of Heyday, an automated journal app, Stolen (the short-lived, but incredibly viral Twitter hit), and Famous.af (Stolen’s less controversial successor).  Siqi previously served as the GM at Zynga after an acquisition of his Facebook app startup, Serious Business, maker of the ridiculously viral Friends for Sale, as well as stints at Powerset, Veoh, and NASA Jet Propulsion Lab. In this episode, we learn how Siqi leverages data to drive growth and build viral products, why the ability to build rapidly growing businesses failed to make Heyday stick, and how he applies these lessons to give super powers to everyday people.
