Some say that Martin Van Buren was one of themost remarkable politicians—not only of his time, but in American presidential history. Co-editor of the Martin Van Buren Papers, James M. Bradley writes this new biography of the 8th president of the United States . Van Buren was the first chief executive not born a British citizen, and the first to use the party system to chart his way from tavern-keeper's son to the pinnacle of power. Additionally, he was the principal architect of the party system and one of the founders of the Democratic Party, he came to dominate New York-then the most influential state in the Union-and was instrumental in electing Andrew Jackson president. Van Buren's skills as a political strategist were unparalleled—and was coined the "Little Magician"—winning him a series of high-profile offices: US senator, New York's governor, US secretary of state, US vice president, and finally theWhite House. In his rise to power, Van Buren sought consensus and conciliation, bending to the wishes of slave interests and complicit in the dispossession of America's Indigenous population, two of the darkest chapters in American history. This first full-scale portrait charts Van Buren's ascent from a tavern in the Hudson Valley to the presidency, concluding with his late-career involvement in an antislavery movement. Offering vivid profiles of the day's leading figures including Andrew Jackson, Henry Clay, John Calhoun, John Quincy Adams, DeWitt Clinton, and James Polk, Bradley's book depicts the struggle for power in the tumultuous decadesleading up to the Civil War.About the AuthorJames M. Bradley is co-editor of the Martin Van Buren Papers, based at Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee. He is an Adjunct Instructor in the public history program at State University of New York at Albany and was the Senior Project Editor of Encyclopedia of New York City, published by Yale University Press. This week, we bring you two stories about little guys trying to do big big things. First, self-proclaimed animal grinch producer Becca Bressler introduces us to perhaps the one creature that has warmed her heart: a cricket. And more specifically, a male cricket. This is a tale about a tiny Romeo insect trying to find a mate, and the ingenious lengths he'll go to have his beckoning heard. And second, producer Annie McEwen journeys through perhaps the zaniest game of football that has ever been played. When a ragtag group of players take on the top team, will it be an underdog tale for the ages or an absolute disaster? Special thanks to Stephen Spann and Joshua Baxter at the Doris and Harry Vice University Library at Cumberland University as well as Alison Reynolds at Georgia Tech Library. Thanks also to Rick Bell, and to Scott Larson who wrote a book all about this game called Cumberland: The True Story of the Highest Scoring Football Game in History. This is a special episode of Nobody’s Safe with Brady Laber as we dedicate the show to a season preview of the 2021 Thomas More Saints football team. We talk with head coach Trevor Stellman about a number of subjects including how he and his team has filled the time during the fall while they would normally be playing its schedule. Coach Stellman acknowledges that everything is different now with playing a schedule that begins in February. This includes the decision making process of actually deciding to shift the schedule to spring with the admission that it’s not really spring during the month of February. We looked back to the last season that Thomas More played football back in the fall of 2019. Stellman acknowledges that going 4-7 in the team’s first year of playing in the Mid-South Conference was an admirable feat. However, that’s not the expectations at Thomas More and his team was just a handful of plays away from flipping that to a winning a record. We go through the two-deep depth chart for Week 1 as a way to break down his team and get to know some of the newcomers including new starting quarterback Jay Volpenhein. This season is a 7-game, all-league schedule within the Bluegrass Division of the Mid-South Conference. Coach Stellman talks about how difficult that will be but also the opportunity that this schedule presents. Also, a new element to the spring schedule is that the games are scheduled for Friday nights not to interfere with other fall sports moving to the spring. We close out with Coach Stellman talking about the fan base and hoping that they have a chance to be there and watch his team in person if and when it becomes safe. Next, we bring in the "Voice of the Saints” Nate Metz as we break down the Saints opening day victory over Cumberland University. Thomas More won over the Phoenix 19-14 in Lebanon, Tennessee to start the year 1-0. The Saints led throughout but fell behind in the fourth quarter. Volpenhein scrambled out of the pocket 34 yards for the go-ahead touchdown. A late defensive stop secured the victory when linebacker Del Thomas batted down a last second desperation pass into the end zone. Introducing two pioneers in the industry of physiotherapists from the east to west: Raj and Kaitlin We talk about where the future is heading in the landscape of physiotherapy, what an effective warm up should look and feel like based on very recent studies, and how conversation should be led in a consultation from the professional to the potential client, and much more! Learn more about our guests: Raj is a physiotherapist and co-owner at Pivotal. He's passionate about rehabilitative medicine, and has been a full-time clinician for over 15 years. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy at the University of Alberta and completed post-graduate training in spinal manipulation, musculo-skeletal acupuncture and Gunn IMS. "Physiotherapy is an extremely rewarding career for me. I'm really interested in motor vehicle injuries, athletic injuries, post-operative rehabilitation and complex clinical cases. I also have a role with the University of Alberta as a Clinical Instructor and a Curriculum Committee Member. I cherish the chance to help train the next generation of rehabilitation professionals. I absolutely love the challenge of diagnosing musculoskeletal dysfunction. My treatment style is a combination of hands-on manual therapy, IMS, and condition-specific exercise prescription. My work is an opportunity to become engaged in people's lives and work with them not only to ensure optimal rehabilitation, but also to get them back to the things that are important to them." Kaitlin graduated from Cumberland University near Nashville, Tennessee in 2015 with a degree in Exercise Science while playing varsity soccer. She went on to complete her Master of Physical Therapy degree at Western University in London, ON. "I decided to pursue this career path due to the abundance of injuries I witnessed and experienced throughout my years of playing competitive soccer for several clubs in Edmonton and then throughout my varsity career in Tennessee. Experiencing and seeing these injuries first hand showed me the importance of both rehabilitation and prevention of future injuries. I have been practicing as a physiotherapist for over 3 years now in Toronto, working with a wide range of patients - from elite athletes to general population. I love working with all ages and seeing a multitude of different injuries. I have a particular interest in sport medicine and athletic performance/return to sport. My treatment style is tailored specifically to each individual and will typically consist of a combination of manual therapy and/or IMS, as well as exercise prescription and movement optimization."
Washington native and former University of Jamestown wrestler Michael John Madden joins the Short Time Wrestling Podcast to talk about his role as Deck Hines in The Last Champion. Madden was a 2009 state qualifier in Washington for White River High School in Buckley. He wrestled for a season at NAIA Jamestown in North Dakota before leaving school to pursue acting. SHORT TIME SHOTS (it’s the scores and such, people) In the NAIA, Grand View broke one of college wrestling’s oldest records as the Vikings went 3-0 at the Winter Clash Duals at Missouri Valley to break the all-time dual meet win streak mark. The old record of 92 by SUNY-Delhi was set from 1979-1982. Grand View tied the record earlier this month. In the first dual of the day, Grand View topped ninth-ranked Marian (Ind.) to earn the 93rd in a row to take possession of the record. The Vikings then beat Cumberland University 31-16 and shut out Texas Wesleyan 49-0. I’ll have more breakdowns about Grand View on my Rokfin channel at rokfin.com/mattalkonline. We lost some valued members of the wrestling community over the past few days. Former San Francisco State head coach Lars Jensen passed away last week. Jensen kept the team alive on numerous occasions, but one of the most impressive performances of coaching came in 1997 when he led the Gators to the NCAA Division II wrestling national championship - all without scholarships. Jensen was a legend in the coaching world and a fantastic person. There’s more in the show notes. Read more. Earlier this year, I tracked down Pitt-Johnstown head coach Pat Pecora for a two-part series when he set the collegiate wrestling record for most dual meet wins as a head coach. One of the names he talked about during that interview was four-time All-American John Revesz. In the tradition that is UPJ wrestling, there are always those who come first and those who set the standard for a program - Revesz was it for UPJ - as he was he program’s first four-time All-American. He passed away on Friday due to complications brought on by COVID-19. He was 59. Read more. Finally, we lost an active competitor last week as Virginia Beach native and Johns Hopkins University wrestler Bradlee LaMontagne passed tragically in a boating accident. While I didn’t know Bradlee personally, there were connections not just to my home state and home area of Virginia, but Bradlee’s mom is a patron of the network. Bradlee’s uncles are longtime supporters of wrestling, including the Great Neck Wrestling Club, Cox High School and the former program at ODU. Bradlee picked Johns Hopkins, a Division III school in Baltimore because he wanted to change the world. From everything I knew about him, from high school coaches who coached against him, his college coach Keith Norris, and those in Virginia and specifically those who populate Shorebreak in Virginia Beach, he was a shining star. This kid was going to indeed back up the claim he was going to change the world. He didn’t know how to quit. Norris explained how he was the team captain and how everything he’d heard about him prior to coming to Hopkins exceeded his expectations. Three unique and dynamic people from our sport are gone. May they Rest In Peace and the impact they had on others never be forgotten.

The number 12 carries religious, mythological and magical symbolism, generally representing perfection, entirety or cosmic order in traditions since antiquity. It’s also the number of qualifiers teams in the NAIA are allowed to send to the national championships, and the most frequent number won by Super Bowl winning quarterbacks. None of that is scientifically researched because why should I be the last guy on the earth to fact-check things before I post them. The first citation is from my former roommate Willie Evans and the rest of the 12 House Crew as we celebrate the 12 House New Year on 12:12 at 12:12. This is Short Time Shots, your mostly daily recap of the scores and more from around the world of wrestling. I’m Jason Bryant and I’ll probably be recording this around 12:12 … on the 13th. By the way, it’s never the best look to apologize in the intro of a podcast, so I won’t. However, why no Shots the past few days? Well after realizing it’s extremely difficult to schedule and cultivate this while working an event - I was in Canada announcing their Olympic Trials - it’s also tough to do when you don’t have another parent around. My wife was also traveling for business. But I did decide to push one out today - why? Well, the longer you put off doing something, the longer it takes for you to actually do it - or something. You know what I mean. Minnesota Beer of the Night: French River by Wooden Hill Brewing. To be honest, I didn’t like it too much. It’s a 6.5 percent saison, but it tasted better when I had it at the brewery in Edina. Could just be a bad can. I contemplated not doing it, but for consistency sake, because this show is ALL about consistency. New Patron: Thanks to my man Tony White back in Virginia. He’s the newest team member of the Mat Talk Podcast Network. Find out how to be a cool guy like Tony later on in the show. Dual Meets: In Division II, No. 2 Nebraska-Kearney dropped in-state rival Chadron State 26-16 in Western Nebraska. Top-ranked Wesley Dawkins bumped up to 141 pounds and picked up a major decision for the Lopers. Returning national champion Matt Malcom also picked up a win at 165. No. 6 Upper Iowa cruised past Southwest Minnesota State 28-6 in Northern Sun action. The Peacocks’ top-ranked 197-pounder, Nick Baumler earned a major decision there. In Division III, No. 10 North Central saw ranked wrestlers Robbie Precin and Cody Baldridge pick up wins in the Cardinals’ 32-9 win over UW-Oshkosh. No. 19 Central College smashed Nebraska Wesleyan 45-4. In the loss, Nebraska Wesleyan All-American Eron Haynes scored 23 points - for the second time this year - in a 23-13 major decision win. Haynes has scored over 20 three times this season. St. Olaf put 10 wrestlers on the mat and scored a 45-12 win over NAIA Waldorf on Thursday night. So far, if you’re keeping score, the office of St. Olaf President David Anderson hasn’t even acknowledged receipt of my interview requests as the school announced it would end the sport at the end of the year. Vanguard, an NAIA school in California, won the school’s first dual meet in 39 years as the Lions beat another California NAIA school, Life Pacific 31-19. Vanguard reinstated the wrestling program this season. No report with Central Christian and Neosho. Southwestern Oregon Community College beat Division III Pacific (Ore.) 16-12. This one isn’t one I’d like to focus on, but this dual featured four double forfeits and two of the regular variety. On Wednesday, Division II Lander earned its first win in school history, a 41-13 win over NAIA Truett McConnell. Congrats to coach R.C. LaHaye for the win there. Also of note, Johnson & Wales beat the U.S. Coast Guard Academy 17-16 on criteria in a battle of two of the top programs in New England. Notables on the Docket: NC State is at Appalachian State, while Lock Haven hosts Navy at Red Lion High School in Pennsylvania. That’s all there is in D1. In D2, St. Cloud State is at Northern State, and Alderson Broaddus is at West Virginia Tech, which is in the NAIA. Small schedule in D3 as well as Augsburg hosts Division II Southwest Minnesota State, Wartburg is at Cornell College and UW-Stevens Point is at UW-Eau Claire. A load of duals in the NAIA in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Schools involved are Bluefield, Central Baptist, Reinhardt, Life, Lyon, Jamestown (N.D.), Campbellsville, Cumberland University, Keiser and Southwest Virginia of the NJCAA. FROM THE DWN: Menlo remains No. 1in the recent NAIA women’s rankings, released on Thursday. The Oaks lead Jamestown, Campbellsville and Life in the top five. The Daily Princetonian, the student newspaper at Princeton University, features the lone woman on the Princeton Tiger wrestling team, Demetra Yancopolous. Molly Duffy of The Gazette in Cedar Rapids identifies what exactly the issue is in Iowa with sanctioning girls wrestling. It’s a pretty solid read. And yes, there’s a lot of wrestling in the news because of this. Tom Housenick of the Allentown (Pa.) Morning Call features the Lehigh Valley wrestling scene and the importance of upcoming super tournaments like the Ironman and Beast of the East and how they relate to postseason success in the rugged state of Pennsylvania. Northwestern added two-time All-American Emery Parker to its coaching staff on Thursday. Parker was a three-time NCAA qualifier and was one of the nations leaders in having his first name spelled incorrectly. Communications offices at Lehigh and Ohio State did some solid work as Lehigh featured All-American Jordan Kutler, while Ohio State featured All-American Luke Pletcher in features on their respective dot-coms. FivePointMove talks about the underrated bracket at 57kg and also has an interview with Xavier Johnson. Go Greco. Hofstra’s Jim Sheehan retires. On The Network My 35th podcast, State of Wrestling, launched. It’s the 33rd show released on the Mat Talk Podcast Network. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow - somewhere else. You know what, I made my bed, so I’ll lie in it. I moved here. Like the point, counterpoint in the movie Airplane! said, they bought their tickets, they knew what they were getting into. I say, let’em crash. Well, let me shiver. This isn’t the weather report for New Brighton, Minnesota - but it’s close - welcome to Short Time Shots, your mostly daily look at the wrestling scores and more from around the world. Minnesota Beer of the Night: In preparation for the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships, when I’m having a beer while putting this show together in the evening, I will enlighten you with that particular information. Tonight, it’s from probably my favorite or second-favorite Minnesota brewery, Fair State Brewing Cooperative. This one’s called Spirit Foul, a super rare collaboration with Modern Times Brewing out of San Diego, which is Spanish for a whale … you know. It’s a hazy IPA, which I’m starting to come around to. I’m not going to tell you about the flavor profile or something snooty like that. I like to try various beers, and I like to drink various beers. This is one I’ve gotten my hands on each of the last three years. It’s hard to find and sells out quickly. I will NOT be featuring Bud heavy, ever, on this show. Sorry Willie. Oh, if you’re on Untappd, find me there at jasonbryant12. Dual Meets: In the Chancellor’s Cup Dual, UW-Eau Claire won the first seven matches and cruised past UW-Oshkosh 25-9 in Eau Claire. The Blugolds were solid, picking up four major decisions en route to the win. We’re not sure where UW-Eau Claire’s Chancellor is going to put said cup, but my recommendation is to fill it up with Spotted Cow and drink from it as a chalice. In the Keystone State, Division II Shippensburg topped Division III Elizabethtown 25-13 in E-Town on Wednesday. Wins by Austin Klucker and Dan Berberick at 197 and 285 enabled the Raiders to pull away for the win. Also in PA, Wilkes defeated Alvernia in that school’s first dual meet in school history 28-12. In Ohio, Heidelberg - wait for it - defeated Wilmington 54-3. Still waiting. Yes, it’s my goal to teach everyone in this country the great wrestling mascots and nicknames we have. The Student Princes of Heidelberg. They used to be coached by current Army West Point assistant Ned Shuck. Thomas More, which recently reclassified to the NAIA, defeated the second-year program at Ohio Wesleyan 27-19. Shay Horton, Avery Jones and Tyler Kassinger picked up falls for the Saints. No Elisabeth Shue references from The Saint today. Ok, just that one. Another NAIA over NCAA win came in Bristol, on the Tennessee side as Cumberland University beat King University 27-19. Cumberland fell behind 10-0 early before taking the lead for good after Dylan Quinn’s 17-10 win over Elijah Davis at 165. Heavyweight Patrick DePiazza sealed the win for the Phoenix. Yes, their named after a mythical firebird … or a city in Arizona. Benedictine of Kansas beat Northwest Tech, also of Kansas 25-19 in a dual that won’t count for Benedictine. Why? NAIA rules stipulate that only competition against four-year varsity programs count for duals and individual records. Hey, I don’t make the rules. Oddly, if you’re an NCAA school, those matches do count. It counts for Northwest Tech, by the way. In a match that did count in the NAIA, Providence - the one in Montana - was impressive in winning all nine contested matches against Southern Oregon 35-6. In Arkansas, Division III University of the Ozarks beat Arkansas Baptist of the NJCAA 51-4. We close with the men’s and women’s doubleheader at UW-Stevens Point as the Pointers swept both matches over visiting Lakeland. UW-Stevens Point won the women’s dual 24-19, while the men’s dual wasn’t as close, with the Pointers sweeping all 10 matches over the Muskies in a 49-0 drubbing. FROM THE DWN: USA Wrestling and the United States Olympic and Paralymic Committee announced on Wednesday amendments to the 2020 Olympic Trials qualification process. Well, due to scheduling issues, there is no Schultz this year, so the Last Chance Qualifier now has the top two wrestlers in each weight and style qualifying with a true second place match instituted, if needed. TheMat.com also previews the Women’s World Cup, as Team USA features World Champions Adeline Gray, Tamyra Mensah-Stock and Jacarra Winchester. Previous coach Caitlyn Baker left her position before the program got rolling. Bo went on the Luke Thomas Show he plans on bringing an American Top Team gym to State College and train out of there instead of relocating. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette highlights the powerhouse program at Pitt-Johnstown and head coach Pat Pecora. The Mountain Cats are loaded with talent from Western Pennsylvania and coach Pecora is 15 victories shy of tying the all-time coaching dual meet record, set by the late Dale Thomas. More stuff from The Daily Pennsylvanian! This time a feature on Penn head coach Roger Reina. Good stuff from Philly this week. On The Network Virginia Tech head coach Tony Robie talks about the big signees that came the Hokies way on the Episode 90 of Inside Virginia Tech Wrestling. Holy crap it’s cold. Like I know I live in Minnesota, but it’s November 12 and the daytime high wasn’t the issue, it was the five degrees this morning while getting the kids ready for school. I chatted with ODU wrestling coach Steve Martin this morning. The first thing he asked me was how the weather was. After an expletive-laced retort, I finally answered with the current state of the atmospheric conditions. You can get that update every day on my personal Twitter account at 9:30 a.m. Central Time. I moved to Minnesota for a job. I left Minnesota for a job. I came back to Minnesota due to the proximity of my wife’s family and the abundance of good wrestling in the midwest. It’s easier to do what I do from here than say, my hometown. This is Short Time Shots, a mostly daily look at the scores and more from the world of wrestling. I’m Jason Bryant. Dual Meets: Falls were the difference as Graceland earned the big six from Trey Heckadon, Brennan Swafford and Drew Sams to lift the Yellowjackets to a 24-18 win over Division III Simpson College on Tuesday. Missouri Baptist opened up the season with a 30-18 win over American Midwest rival Hannibal-LaGrange. Jordan Sanders and Quentin Lawrence with falls there for the Spartans. They’ve got spirit. Montana State-Northern got its first dual win of the season as longtime rival and current Cascade Conference foe Southern Oregon came to town and went home unhappy. Returning national finalist Isaac Bartel registered a fall in 90 seconds at 197 pounds to highlight the Lights victory - yes, they’re the LIGHTS. Get it, Northern … Lights. I can’t seem to find any release or note, but apparently William Penn beat Waldorf by forfeit. Ok then. The top-ranked team in the NAIA women’s division, Life University, knocked off Limestone 36-10 in that school’s first ever home dual. Alex Enriquez, Aysia Cortez and Gabby Hamilton secured falls for the Running Eagles. Yes, the RUNNING Eagles. The 130kg Greco-Roman European Games champion, Kiryl Hryshchanka, was stripped of his gold medal after testing positive for an anabolic steroid. I’m not going to try to pronounce. Sure, Hyrshchanka, I can say that, but Dehydrochloromethyl-testosterone, not so easily. Georgia’s Iakobi Kajaia is now the European Games gold medalist. The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports a former Xavier High School wrestler and current University of Iowa student died on Monday according to an email distributed by the UI campus community. The Daily Pennsylvanian features freshman Michael Colaiocco, who’s already making an impact in Philly. The Knight Report, a Rivals-based Rutgers news site has posted that Peter Lipari, a 141-pound NCAA qualifier for the Scarlet Knights last season, has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. Inspired by his religious beliefs to study science in a quest to find answers to life's deepest questions, he spent his college years studying the Bible, world religions, and science side-by-side. After completing a bachelor of science in chemistry and biochemistry, he enrolled in graduate school at Vanderbilt University, where he is currently completing a PhD in biological sciences, with an emphasis on how life evolves and on what the evolution of life can teach us about modern health issues like disease and aging. To address these issues, his research is focused on understanding the factors governing the transmission of genetic mutations in the mitochondrial DNA from one generation to the next. Outside of the biology lab, Bryan maintains a hobby of truth-seeking by studying physics, astronomy and philosophy, which has led him to become skeptical of supernatural claims and to depart from his former beliefs. Still passionate about science and science education, Bryan pursues teaching and speaking opportunities far and wide. He has delivered lectures to audiences ranging from middle-schoolers to university students, and has presented his professional research in the peer-reviewed literature and at research conferences across the United States. Coach Jobe of On Top Athletics speaks with DC of D1 Highlights About their upcoming 2019 Football Exposure Camp at Cumberland University
After the "corrupt bargain" that awarded John Quincy Adams the presidency in 1825, American politics underwent a fundamental shift from deference to participation. This changing tide eventually propelled Andrew Jackson into the White House—twice. But the presidential race that best demonstrated the extent of the changes was that of Martin Van Buren and war hero William Henry Harrison in 1840. Harrison's campaign was famously marked by sloganeering and spirited rallies. In The Coming of Democracy, Mark R. Cheathem examines the evolution of presidential campaigning from 1824 to 1840. Addressing the roots of early republic cultural politics—from campaign biographies to songs, political cartoons, and public correspondence between candidates and voters—Cheathem asks the reader to consider why such informal political expressions increased so dramatically during the Jacksonian period. What sounded and looked like mere entertainment, he argues, held important political meaning. The extraordinary voter participation rate—over 80 percent—in the 1840 presidential election indicated that both substantive issues and cultural politics drew Americans into the presidential selection process.Drawing on period newspapers, diaries, memoirs, and public and private correspondence, The Coming of Democracy is the first book-length treatment to reveal how presidents and presidential candidates used both old and new forms of cultural politics to woo voters and win elections in the Jacksonian era. This book will appeal to anyone interested in US politics, the Jacksonian/antebellum era, or the presidency.Mark R. Cheathem is a professor of history at Cumberland University, where he is the project director of the Papers of Martin Van Buren. He is the author of Andrew Jackson, Southerner and Andrew Jackson and the Rise of the Democrats.---The Age of Jackson Podcast is hosted by Daniel N. Gullotta and is sponsored by "Andrew Jackson's Hermitage: Home of the People's President" in Nashvillee, TN:https://thehermitage.com.

Hello everyone! Thank you for joining me on the maiden voyage of the Age of Jackson Podcast. I am really excited to be sharing with you my passion and love for this period of American History. Not only are some of the people larger than life but some of the events in this period continue to affect us to this day. But as this is the very first episode of this podcast, I figured it would be best to introduce people to the Age of Jackson. What do I mean when I use the term, “the Age of Jackson?” Who was Andrew Jackson and why does it get his own age named after him? What was happening in America in the early nineteenth century? How have historians treated this period of American history and what work is being done right now? To answer these questions, I enlisted the help of Mark R. Cheathem.Mark R. Cheathem is a professor of history at Cumberland University and received his Ph.D. in history from Mississippi State University. He has written several books, including the award-winning Andrew Jackson, Southerner, and is the author of the upcoming The Coming of Democracy: Presidential Campaigning in the Age of Jackson, to be published later this year. Since 2015, Dr. Cheathem had been the project director and co-editor of the Papers of Martin Van Buren. He also runs the website Jacksonian America: Society, Personality, and Politics.Join me as I asked Dr. Cheathem about what was the Age of Jackson!

These days, Martin Van Buren is mostly known as the balding nineteenth century President with muttonchops and a funny name.
