Sign up for our weekly newsletter here! In this engaging episode of the Fueling Creativity in Education Podcast, hosts Dr. Matthew Worwood and Dr. Cyndi Burnett welcome Miriam Scott, the Director of Youth and Educator Engagement at Creative Visions, to discuss the transformative power of creative expression in education. Miriam outlines the work of Creative Visions, particularly focusing on their Creative Change Makers program, which empowers students by allowing them to explore issues within their communities and choose how they can creatively express their concerns. This approach, she explains, is designed to grant students a sense of agency and ensure their voices are heard. Miriam shares diverse stories from students who have used their skills in filmmaking, visual arts, poetry, and other creative mediums to raise awareness and instigate change in their communities, highlighting the potential impact of integrating creative methods into educational settings. Further emphasizing the importance of creativity, Miriam discusses the educational resources available through Creative Visions that are designed to help teachers and students engage with social and environmental issues. She also talks about the broader application of their work, linking it to universal topics like mental health and global citizenship. The hosts and Miriam explore the intersection of creativity, education, and agency, urging educators to incorporate these elements into teaching to foster both personal and community transformation. Additionally, Miriam shares her personal experience growing up with limited resources but a rich exposure to the arts, illustrating the lasting impact of creativity in her life. Listeners are encouraged to access Creative Visions' tools and methodologies to deepen students' engagement with their work and passions, driving both localized and global change. About Miriam Scott: Miriam was born in Germany and moved to the United States during her teenage years. She received her BA in English from Northern Arizona University. While completing her MFA in creative writing, Miriam stumbled upon teaching. What began as a means to pay the bills, became a lifelong passion. In the last twenty years, she has taught a variety of English classes, including AP literature and creative writing, in middle school and high school classrooms. While teaching, she realized the importance of incorporating both visual and performing arts into the academic classroom, as well as teaching students how to find their voices and their places in their communities and in the world at large. Miriam has been an adjunct composition and literature instructor at numerous colleges and universities, including Northern Virginia Community Colleges and the City University of New York. She has also, in the last decade, created curricula for several organizations, such as Pearson and Arizona State University Digital Prep, exploring and developing innovative and effective methods of digital teaching that meet the needs of a wide and diverse body of teachers and students. As the Director of Youth and Educator Engagement, Miriam is thrilled to combine her experience in curriculum development with her love of teaching and art to help young creative activists achieve their goals. Dan Goman is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Ateliere, a tech company that solves many of the production and distribution challenges of legacy technology. It does this through its cloud-native digital media supply chain and distribution platforms. Its solutions help companies focus their time, energy, and resources toward delivering the best audience experience possible. It works with leading production and streaming companies and aims to have the leading and only solution available on the market for the expected $932 billion streaming industry by 2028. Born in Western Romania during the 1970s, Dan and his family lived under an oppressive communist regime, where his father was given a choice: conform or shut up. He did neither, so his parents were fired from their jobs. The family of eight kids struggled as they applied for political asylum to move to the U.S.— but once this was granted, they never looked back Dan was an ambitious child and wanted to succeed in his new, unknown surroundings — he learned English from watching television shows and taught himself programming on an old IBM computer. He went on to graduate from the University of Maryland and began a career in software development. This led to him start-up his own company, Ateliere (formerly named OWNZONES), in 2010. As streaming services started rising in popularity, Dan knew this was a valuable market, as these streaming platforms would need support with the consolidation of production and content We discuss how he has become a successful start-up developer as an immigrant from a troubling background and the lessons he's learned that have facilitated Ateliere's significant success. We also explore how Ateliere is fuelling an evolution by helping streaming giants consolidate their media content and helping other platforms come together with merging businesses. I also learn why the next generation of filmmakers and directors need to think cloud-first – upskilling the entertainment industry to incorporate new technology.

Being able to learn and grow from what we have gone through during Covid-19 is a great tool to have under our belts. There are technological and personal achievements that have emerged from the pandemic. How might we reform global learning so that it supports the local good and the global good in our world? Planet Classroom in association with Creative Visions have invited youth globally to shine a light on their thoughts, feelings, hopes and desires for the world. In this new episode of the SHINE series, Orb, Planet Classroom's virtual host, asked eight young leaders to tell us what they hope to see in a world once covid-19 diminishes. As members of the UN Youth and Global Citizenship Foundation, they have taken their own tools to teach us how we can create a more sustainable world.

Every one of us has been impacted by Covid-19 in one way or another. As we are released from the grasp that the virus had on us, returning back to a normal life may not be the way it used to be. Planet Classroom and Creative Visions have invited international youth groups around the world to submit their interpretation to the word SHINE. In this first episode of the SHINE podcast series to support this multi-media initiative a number of talented creators were asked what they want in a life post COVID19 world, and what role the arts have played during this period. Their answers might inspire you to find creativity through these difficult times. Mental health, community effort, inner-peace, and equality are only just a few of the topics that our young creators discuss. Let Orb, Planet Classroom's virtual host, take you on a journey of self discovery and overall realization of the vast possibilities a Post-Covid world can hold for all of us.

Sign up for my newsletter by going to: www.leahsalinas.comSign up for a free Connection Call here: bit.ly/connectwithleah —Lately I’ve been exploring how I can make different areas of my life (my business, my creative projects, this podcast etc.) feel more sustainable. Not sustainable from an environmental perspective (that’s awesome as well, but a different conversation =)), but sustainable in a way that allows me to show up for all of these things consistently and with a sense of joy. I’ve found that communicating with our creative endeavors is a beautiful way to gain insights into what our creative projects really need from us. Which in turn allows us to create from a place of greater harmony, ease and flow. In today’s episode I’ll be sharing what this “communication” process looks like for me so you can apply it to your own creative projects as well! Today’s episode is also the Season 2 Finale! I’ll be sharing my future plans for the podcast (don’t worry, it’ll be coming back =)) and also how we can stay in touch until Season 3. A big thank you from my heart to yours for being on this journey with me. I’m grateful to each and every one of you! High level narcissists are ravenous for new ideas and concepts. If they can't conjure up one themselves, they will steal yours. They become intrigued with you if you have talent. With their charm and believable facade they convince you that you are destined to become an integral part of their corporative team. They cascade you with compliments. They treat you like royalty. Most people are fooled by this full court charm and adoration offensive. You start to trust them and share your creative projects with them. Your designs, apps, book concepts, etc., are laid out in full detail. The project is moving forward. Your friend and business partner has disappeared. Some time later you discover that your creative concepts have been commandeered and now have his label on them. He has betrayed you. The lesson here is to always remember the value of your unique creativity. Pay attention to your intuitions that accurately reveals l the true nature of the narcissistic personality. https://tinyurl.com/y39j2uke www.mhnrnetwork.com https://tinyurl.com/y3ss5clg

Film producer and author Kathy Eldon tells how traveling the world with her parents gave her a global view, but it was the death of her son, Eldon's life changed when her son died while working as a journalist in war torn Somalia. Inspired by her son Dan, Eldon founded a film production company to tell important stories.
Kathy Eldon, Pat Chandler and Creative Visions remind us we must find a way to reconnect and make greater effort to understand the plight that others are dealing with. To find our human connection. The virtue of being a storyteller is to high light a more compassionate message, with an invigorated focus on the individual narrative. How do we enliven participation and strike a chord to encourage our commonality? We are the stewards of our fragile planet and can put aside our differences to find solutions, together, and create the impossible.
Armory of Harmony is an apolitical organization dedicated to transforming acrimony into civil discourse. Our actions begin with an important symbol of such transformation. By taking decommissioned guns from police departments and turning the gunmetal into musical instruments for use in high school music programs, we demonstrate the possibility that two opposites can coexist in harmony. We make no endorsements of any politicians and have no agenda beyond the belief the afterlife of a gun can be an instrument of healing and unification. If you wish to contribute please make out a check to Creative Visions and put Armory of Harmony on the memo line. In honor of the Spark Change Summit, presented this week by Creative Visions and the Skoll Center for Social Impact Entertainment over at UCLA, we will highlight three documentaries connected to visionaries who spoke at this inspiring event. I was honored to participate in this engaging series of panels and conversations, with such a distinguished group of industry leaders and creative activists. The three films we will share with you today are very powerful, each with a clear call to action. Social Impact filmmaking at it’s best. They include: An Inconvenient Sequel, Unseen Enemy and I am Jane Doe. For more information on these films, and learn about other amazing social impact films, visit Cause Cinema.
We’re thrilled to be able to explore Creative Activism today, on many levels, and pleased to have the Founder of Creative Visions, Kathy Eldon join us. Topics discussed: How did the seed of an idea for a production company to “make movies that matter” evolve to the broader organization that is Creative visions today? You have amazing "Programs" with Rock Your World and your Fiscal Sponsorship program and your Creative Activist Program, can you share an overview of each? On the Production side, you were able to make The Journey is the Destination, with a terrific team and cast. Can you tell us more about production and ultimately the release of the film? Yet another amazing aspect of Creative Visions is bringing people together through Events. Tell us more about the Spark Change Summit that you are doing with the Skoll Center for Social Impact Entertainment? You have wonderful space that serves as a connection point, and often have open meetings, mixers, happy hours, and terrific mentorship, internship and volunteer programs. Bronwen Hughes and Face2Face host David Peck talk about her new film The Journey is The Destination, Dan Eldon, the “global tribe”, living a life of “crowded hours”, and having no sense of the other. IMDB Trailer More about Dan Eldon here. More about Creative Visions here. Synopsis The Journey is the Destination is based on the remarkable true story of the life of Dan Eldon, a photographer, artist, and adventurer. By the age of 22, he had travelled to more than 40 countries, created fine art journals, worked with refugees, been hired as the youngest photojournalist at Reuters, fallen in love — and accumulated more life experience than most in a lifetime. Inspiring and irreverent, the film tell the story of a young man coming of age to realize his purpose, and his belief that we can all create positive change. This film is 23 years in the making and we could not be more proud to have Kathy’s original dream become a reality. This would not be possible without the phenomenal group of producers, the incredible director Bronwen Hughes, the cast, crew and everyone who has been part of this journey. The journey continues… Biography Bronwen Hughes is a New York and Hollywood-based feature film director of Canadian and British origin. She is currently at work on the feature film The Journey is the Destination, based on the life of artist and photographer, Dan Eldon. This epic adventure tells the story of Dan who spent his life traveling and photographing in 42 countries, inspiring young people to follow him. Like Dan, Hughes started photographing and traveling the globe from a very young age. Hughes’ feature Stander is based on the true story of a notorious and brilliant bank robber in 1970’s Johannesburg. This charismatic criminal became a popular hero, often robbing 4 or 5 banks in a single day. Ultimately, he was apprehended and revealed to be the captain of the South African Police. Stander stars Thomas Jane (The Punisher, Boogie Nights) and Dexter Fletcher (Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels). The shoot took place in Johannesburg and the Townships of Soweto and Tembisa, where Hughes directed thousands of extras in a re-creation of the riots of the apartheid struggle. Her previous feature, Forces of Nature, starring Sandra Bullock and Ben Affleck, was made for Steven Spielberg’s Dreamworks. It is a stylish and unique romantic comedy about two strangers thrown together on a wild ride battling the elements, both trying to make it to Savannah on a deadline. Noted for its special effects sequences of slow-motion hail storms and surreal hurricanes, Forces of Nature was the Number One film in the weeks of its National and International releases. Hughes came to the attention of Spielberg who asked her to direct Forces of Nature after seeing her first feature film, Harriet the Spy, starring Rosie O’Donnell. Made for Paramount Pictures, Harriet was released to critical and box office success, and won international prizes. She currently has several films in development: Romeo Spy, the true story of John Symonds, one-time London policemen who became an international seducer-of-women for the KGB in the 1970’s; Firecracker Boys for Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way, a truth-stranger-than-fiction story of Alaskan Eskimos exposing the nuclear conspiracy of the Atomic Energy Commission; The Dictator’s Lover, the true story of three generations of female spies; and Tropicana, a large-scale musical based on the legendary Havana nightclub. Her production experience has taken her all over the world, from Iceland and Norway, to East and Southern Africa, to Central American Mayan ruins, and the remote peaks of the Andes. Her award-winning documentary for The Discovery Channel, Cinenova’s Machu Picchu: The Search for Lost Worlds was filmed in the jungles of inland Peru. For television, Hughes’ prestigious pilots White Collar and Fairly Legal, both for USA Networks and Fox TV Studios, are now hit series for the network. Hughes completed an action-packed episode of Breaking Bad, which has received Emmy’s for AMC, and several episodes of the HBO series Hung, starring Thomas Jane, who also starred in her feature film, Stander. ---------- For more information about my podcasting, writing and public speaking please visit my site.
