ExxonMobil?- What’s going to happen? There are too many variables to know.- Break down Chesapeake assets. Where are they? (Below a dollar on Monday) could be delisted in 26 days. How much has Chesapeake drilled? Who might be interested in buying Chesapeake’s assets?API Monthly Statistical Report- New crude oil production record for the United States — 12.6 million bpd of production!- This was a surprising, not just the number but also the jump - twice as much as previous increases.- Pipelines are increasing Permian deliverability.- Too much pipelines? Or will these pipelines get filled up sooner than we thought? The $4-$5 per barrel differential between WTI and Brent is still significant. If the clouds on trade could be cleared, the differential between WTI and Brent could decrease.- More pipeline startups this Q will bring more barrels of pipeline capacity. Improved pipeline capacity coming out of the Permian should make it so crude coming out of places like Midland will be able to go directly to refiners and the coast will improve transportation costs.- Why are Brent crude oil prices what they are? Brent benchmark is a blend of different Crudes. 40s component of this benchmark is setting the price. Potential structural changes in the market. Also where refiners are drawing from.- Refinery utilization - 85.5% This is a short-term exception. In Sept utilization rates were at the highest levels at 2019. Oct range is abysmally low for the 5 year range. Pipeline outages. Should come back online quickly.- Oct jet fuel demand was up! In Sept 2019, I started phase II of my new marketing mindset that I learned from Steve Hanson of the Janitorial Store. In this episode, I share how one new client turned into a friend and gateway to local business networking meetings and building the momentum needed to grow my new solo cleaning company to our next goal. There is power in connecting in-person at meetings and then online with LinkedIn, Facebook, and email. You'll see that play out in this episode. In part I of this podcast series, I shared my door-to-door office marketing strategy from the past year. Although it worked by adding 3 new office cleaning clients, something was missing. I found the answer quickly from my new friend Eva Finlan of State Farm in Skippack, PA. I met her once COLD after knocking on her door and introducing myself. The second time we met was in person at a local business networking event. Once she got to know me, she referred me to other local business owners. This allowed me to go back to the same offices I had visited prior and add a simple phrase. "Hi, I'm Ken Carfagno and my friend Eva Finlan at State Farm told me to stop by and introduce myself." Trust was the missing ingredient and my good friend Vincent Pugliese of Total Life Freedom teaches this. "87% of jobs come from referrals and people only refer people they know, like & trust."I found this to be SO true.Make sure to check out the "Go-Giver" book that I recommended as well. This is a game-changer!

Background Having been a musician and music teacher for a couple of decades, Michael got tired of the low pay and unresponsive students. He discovered the Amazon Private Label opportunity and loved the creativity of being an online entrepreneur, as well as the time freedom it gives once it’s up and running. Michael had always loved listening to intelligent “talk” radio (mostly Radio 4), that expanded to include a great liking for listening to business podcasts over the last decade. Having been very inspired by many great business podcasts and blogs over the last few years, like those by Tim Ferriss and Seth Godin, Michael wanted to create one to inspire and help others. Although there were many other good podcasts about selling on Amazon in the USA, they all had a US perspective. There seemed to be no podcast specifically with a more international perspective, specifically starting from a UK perspective. Michael felt he could fill in the gap. Amazon business Michael has been selling on Amazon USA since December 2014 and started selling in the UK in July 2015, branching out into other European marketplaces in late 2016. In Autumn 2016, he launched a new Europe-focussed brand with a business partner. Michael hit $100,000 in sales within 2 years with his own brands. Total sales with Michael and his business partners have passed $250,000 so far. Amazing FBA Michael has been running the Podcast, Blog and Facebook Group since September 2015. Bill 6, the Enhanced Protection for Farm and Ranch Workers Act: How's it Working? On December 10, 2015, the Government of Alberta passed Bill 6, the Enhanced Protection for Farm and Ranch Workers Act. Bill 6, much of it implemented on Jan 1, 2016, has generated considerable controversy in the Province.  Bill 6 repeals the exemptions for farm and ranch workers that are found in a range of legislation. Generally speaking, Bill 6 affects four aspects of the employment relationship: general working conditions, the right to organize, worker safety, and WCB coverage for non-family workers by repealing earlier exemptions. As a result of the controversy generated by Bill 6, the Government of Alberta amended Bill 6 to allow owners, family members and neighbours to work on farms and ranches without being subject to all of the rules and restrictions as other workers. Specifically, the parts of Bill 6 pertaining to OHS regulations and workers compensation were amended to exclude paid farm and ranch owners and their family members, as well as friends and neighbours who do not work for wages as defined by the Employment Standards Code. The speaker will present information from an Occupational Health and Safety perspective.  What changes came about as a result of the new legislation? How was the legislation changed? What is the definition of a worker or employer reportable incident? What does OHS jurisdiction look like? What are the trends we are seeing after the first year and, what is still to come?    Speaker: Mike Rappel, CRSP, EMT-P (ret), OHS Officer Born and raised in Grande Prairie, AB, Mike began his career working as a paramedic for 10 years in Northern Alberta stationed in Hinton, Spirit River and Grande Prairie. He worked rural EMS in Alberta for almost 10 years. In 2001, he moved over to Alberta Occupational Health and Safety as an OHS Officer. Over his 15 years with that department, Mike has conducted inspections and investigations into just about every industry in Alberta.   In Sept 2015, he was asked to be a part of organizing the farm and ranch team responsible for investigating and inspecting farm, ranch, and agricultural work sites in the province as related to the expected changes to legislation in January 2016. Mike has strong ties to the farming community.  Much of his family still reside on the family farms in Spirit River, Fahler, Manning and Camrose areas, growing wheat & canola, and raising cattle. The original homestead in the Spirit River area is still owned by his family to this day more than 90 years after it was first homesteaded. Ken Steele continues his review of recent winners and sinners in higher ed social media, this time looking at orientation week highs and lows. It seems as though sometimes O-Week brings out the worst in students, who then seek to document their exploits on Instagram and Snapchat. In Sept 2011, it was students from HEC Montreal donning blackface to imitate Usain Bolt. In Sept 2013, it was Frosh Chants at Saint Mary's University in Halifax, and at the Sauder School of Business at UBC, seeming to advocate the rape of underaged girls. In 2014 it was Engineering Orientation songbooks that surfaced at Concordia University and McMaster. The pattern seems predictable now: outrage, recriminations, apologies, resignations, sensitivity training, counselling for upset students, and a fact-finding investigation. In July 2014, a young entrepreneur started promoting Ottawa Frosh Week Kits with hyper-sexualized videos encouraging "bad decisions with good friends" and excessive consumption of drugs and alcohol. But we did find at least one O-Week social media winner: Wageningen University in the Netherlands, which staged a student event with 1,000 smartphones to capture the entire campus for a "Student Street View". As I navigate through the social media jungle, my weapons of choice have been Twitter, some Facebook, and a dash of LinkedIn. When I heard Cynthia Sanchez left her nursing career to become a leading Pinterest expert, I had to learn more. Pinterest has been reported to be a great source of traffic. In Sept 2012 Shareaholic reported ”In the month of August (2012), Pinterest sent more traffic than Yahoo organic traffic and is now the fourth largest traffic source in the world.“ Take a look at what Business Insider reported: “Pinterest shoppers, on average, spend nearly $170 per session, according to a study by RichRelevance… which tracked 700 million shopping sessions. In comparison, Facebook shoppers spend $95 per session, while Twitter shoppers spend $70.” Take a listen and learn how Cynthia is not only pinning it, but doing it as well! If you are a fan of Cynthia, you will learn Why her favorite song is Panic Station by Muse? What is Cynthia’s favorite sport and team? What does she do for fun? Where does Cynthia love to travel to and where are her dream destinations? When we get down to business with Cynthia, you will learn Her mindset when she decided to leave nursing and start Oh So Pinteresting. What's the relationship with Cynthia's "new" boss? Did Cynthia have metrics to hit and a time frame to meet for success? How did being an entrepreneur make her a better mother? Did Cynthia get support from friends and family? How did she deal with people who didn't understand what she did? Why was Pat Flynn and the Smart Passive Income Podcast so pivotal to her start? Interviewing The Divas ...with Tammy Henkelman Join Diva Entrepreneur Candace Gish each week as she speaks with other Divas; women who have made their mark on the business world in modelling entrepreneurship, motherhood and/or mentoring others. This week Candace is speaking with Tammy Henkelman from Ponoka, AB. Tammy has been married for 25 years to her high school sweetheart and they are the parents of two happy young adults. With a background of self-employment in Equine Touch for Health and working with injured horses, she then went on to help other women and their families achieve their financial goals and dreams by being a financial life coach. Tammy says, "In 2011 I decided to make a bucket list. It has really excited me to be able to cross some things off my list. It is empowering!! In Sept 2012, I entered a Transformation challenge to lose weight and ended up second in the transformation out of 15 other participants. This intrigued me to Compete in May 2013 in a Natural Physique Athletics association in the fitness model competition. Wow what a journey!! This has made me see that I can do whatever I set my mind to".

Speaker Biography: William F. May received his Ph.D. from Yale and taught for many years at Southern Methodist University where he was Cary M. Maguire Professor of Ethics until retirement in May 2001. He was the founding director of the Cary M. Maguire Center for Ethics and Public Responsibility. Mumia Abu-Jamal's Radio Essays

As the prospect of GM (General Motors) being forced into bankruptcy looms closer, the company (as well as the government) enters yet the next phase in a long, bitter and seemingly intractable war against workers -- and not just members of the UAW (United Auto Workers). For the courtroom represents a battleground more vicious than any negotiating table, for there, the rules are (to borrow a phrase from segregation days) 'separate and unequal.' That's because civil laws favor corporations. How could it be otherwise when lawyers are trained in corporate and contract law -- and rarely, if ever -- labor law? Under bankruptcy law, prior contracts can be broken, and new arrangements made, as long as creditors and investors get paid. What of a man or woman who has spent decades at work for the company? Isn't that an investment? To the investors and bondholders that is irrelevant. They, and the White House, will have driven GM into bankruptcy court, not UAW, which has bent over so far backwards they're in knots. In Sept. 2007, UAW signed a "landmark" pact with GM, in which the union assumed massive health care costs under what's called VEBA (volunteer employee benefit association). According to the terms, GM donates cash or stock to the UAW to administer VEBA, and GM agrees to the present work force of 73,000 workers. The VEBA contract was for 4 years, expiring in 2011. Two years later, and tens of thousands have been laid off. Even before bankruptcy proceedings began, UAW heads were being pushed to accept GM stock (now around $1.40 a share) and corporate debt, instead of cash to run VEBA, and urged to accept "immediate cuts" to retiree benefits at the insistence of Timothy Geithner's Treasury Department, citing GM's "financial difficulties." GM, we tend to forget, is a multinational, which builds and sells cars in Mexico, Canada and Asia. And while sales have indeed slumped in the Americas, sales are hot in Asia. In China, the world's most populous market, an American car is still a status symbol, and China's economy is still the healthiest on earth, growing at an annual rate of 6%. Moreover, while jobs are being lost in the U.S., and retirees' benefits are slashed, the bailout billions will fuel GM's efforts overseas, where, for example, a Chinese auto worker earns $3 an hour, versus $54 an hour for an American. Does that make economic sense? Only when the bottom line is the be-all and end-all of existence (as in capitalism). Meanwhile, six top GM execs recently sold all of their GM stock, sending a signal of imminent bankruptcy. Having eaten the goose of GM profit, they leave the bones. (c) '09 maj

https://www.thesaleswhisperer.com/podcast http://MakeEverySale.com Literally Googled "what is business." Culture of pride and patriotism. Able to do more together in the Army. Made T-Shirts. He was an activated-unit drill sergeant for three years. Didn't want to go to college and get a job. He wanted to do something bigger than himself. You can find your own mission. Nov 2009 was the first time he actually sold something (Made $3,500 that day and set up a table at Ft. Benning and sold stuff. Coordinated through AAFES to get licensed and they took 25%.) He meets people that talk about their business ideas for 15 years...but you're not in business. You're really in business when you actually sell something. Traveled back and forth between Chicago and Ft Benning. Became an audiobook listener, which helped on his drives to Ft. Benning. (Made it in 11 hours once.) You'll pay for your education in one way or another. Work your connections. Selling is never easy. Be cognizant of your prospects and your decision makers. He didn't understand margins or pricing. He had horribe profits but kept feeling his way through the dark. Discipline yourself to always push forward. His wife was working full time. Dec 2011 his wife gave him an ultimatum. He signed up for his first tradeshow in Vegas in Jan 2012 and he said if he could sell $6,000 he'd stay in business and she went with him to help him sell. Took the free shuttle, walked a mile to the nearest supermarket and ate peanut butter and bread because that's all they had money for. They sold $6,300 but it was by brute force and he thought there had to be a better way. He took out a yellow legal pad and wrote down every business that was doing better than him and decided to emulate the successful. His sales then began doubling every month by reverse-engineering the successful competitors he listed. He looked at Skittles in 2012 because they were the king of Facebook then. He was a personal trainer in the morning until about noon or even 4-5 pm and did Grunt Style until about 3 am. In Sept 2012 his wife "kicked him out of the house" so he had room and he hired his first two part timers. But he was doing everything else. He understood web development and did that himself. By December in 2012 he did $64,000. He realized he needed more SKUs because he didn't have anything to upsell/resell to his good customers. They reach nearly 4 million people per day organically on social media. It's tougher now even with 1.8 million fans on Facebook. He leads with branding and content. It's a slow transition from selling to branding. Nobody wanted his stuff on day one, and that's okay. Focus on what your brand means and take the time and effort to describe it to your audience. He has learned a lot from books but be careful to learn only from those who have done it. This took a lot of time and effort. You need to make plans to grow. He brought his part time fulfillment people on full time then hired a sales person. You need structure as soon as you have a tier of management. Everyone is an extension of your will of intent. He can improve margins by creating his shirts in China but he's not going to compete with Wal-Mart on pricing or Amazon on shipping. His strength is quick turnaround and creation and low inventory. Alpha Outpost did $8+ million in its first 12 months but there is still a big learning curve. The Alpha Outpost team was a newly-developed team so he didn't distract or detract from the efforts of his Grunt Style team. Stay true to who you are so you can be clear on your message. Spreadsheets and business plans are important but you need intuition and planning as well.
