The Video Promo Create a short video around a pressing problem that you know your audience is struggling with and send the video out to your email list. Only those who click to watch the video get an offer. Here's an example for a video promo: I create a video on how to sell between launches. I email my list that I have created this new video and I tag those who click on the link to watch the video. The next day I follow up with an offer that shouldn't come as a surprise to those who watched the video, for example an online course for $297 on how to sell between launches with all the templates and scripts. The promo lasts 3-4 days and the rest of the email list does not get any emails and there is no social media about the promo. Social Selling Post on your personal profile and your business profile and invite the right people to send you a direct message. This is one of the best ways to promote without launching. Here's an example for social selling: I want to offer a 6 day retreat in Iceland and before I go off and create the sales page and book everything, I write a post on social media. The post is 200-300 words long, contains a nice image and highlights all the feelings about this magical retreat (but not too many facts!). At the end, I ask people who are interested to PM me. Those who PM me are my “launch list” and I can follow up with them and possibly sell the retreat even without a sales page if I did a good job on the social media post. The 9 word email The 9-word email was developed by Dean Jackson, a successful real estate entrepreneur and online marketer, in an effort to re-engage lost prospects. Jackson's claim was that a subject line displaying the recipient's name only, and a body with a one-line (originally 9-word) question is all you need to engage. Here's an example of a 9-word email: Email subject line: SigrunEmail body: Are you still looking to grow your online business? Be cautious when applying this strategy. It's meant to re-engage those who have already shown interest, and not to sell to a new person who has no idea what you're talking about Mini Launch Instead of going into a full launch, my team and I sometimes offer a paid workshop where only the people who join the workshop are presented with an offer. This promotion has all the elements of a launch, but it's much shorter and easier to do. Here's an example of a mini-launch: In March and May 2020, we held the weekend workshop Create Your Recession Proof Offer for $97. Only those who joined the workshop received an offer for the Online Turnaround/SOMBA Accelerator program. The cart was open for 7 days but can also be shorter in a mini launch Affiliate Marketing One of the best ways to sell between launches is to be an affiliate and either do a small promotion or a proper launch. Even if you decide to go with a full launch, the effort will still be smaller compared to when you do your own launch, because you're concentrating on the marketing and not on all the other aspects of a launch. The first time I participated it was more work because my team and I had to create all our assets, but now that they've been created and can be reused it's less work. This episode focuses on the crash courses, training sessions, and workshops that the company Excelerate provided pre-pandemic. I had the pleasure to speak with Whitney Pettis, who is the founder of Excelerate and she spoke about the online and in person courses that her company offered to those who were looking to change careers, learn new skills, or just add to their resume. She mentioned that just by adding a computer programming skill to your resume could boost your salary by 10K-20K depending on the skill. She and I met a few years back when she initially had few classes she offered like SQL, Excel, and learning about Excel formulas and from that point on, her business grew to a point where she was able to get into her own building to host classes. Once the pandemic hit and the shutdown happened, it stopped everything for her like most of us in the world. She then went on to provided strictly online courses but that wasn't bringing in much of the revenue that she anticipated so she turned to another alternative. As word got out about her business, more companies started to reach out to her for consulting purposes to basically training company employees on the different skills she provides like learning SQL, and how to communicate through data among other skills. Her love for both technology and entrepreneurship has helped her catapult her career tremendously. She has a love for teaching which has helped so many people especially in the black community. Technology and the medical fields are the most demanding and high paying jobs in the world, we as black people need to take full advantage of the many opportunities that are out there for us to be in these fields and not just be consumers or patients. I hope with this breakdown you can see it is very feasible to make $20K /month. I am sure you can agree with me that if you spend $10,000 on ads you will be able to generate a lot of sales. But again, you need to be spending that king of money on the right product. Let's do some more math To make $20K /month, you need to make 1000 sales of a product that generate $20 profit. To make $20K /month, you need to make 200 sales of a product that generate $100 profit. To make $20K /month, you need to make 20 sales of a product that generate $1000 profit. To make $20K /month, you need to make 4 sales of a product that generate $5000 profit. To make $20K /month, you need to make 1 sale of a product that generate $20000 profit. Picking a level will depend on your skill and financial situation If you have not money, you need hard work and skills. ONCE UPON A GENE - EPISODE 068 Connecting the Dots From Patients to Researchers with Jason Colquitt - CEO of Across Healthcare Jason Colquitt is the CEO of Across Healthcare and he has 20 years experience in the healthcare technology field where his work has caused a positive disruption within the healthcare industry. He was diagnosed with carnitine palmitoyltransferase type II deficiency (CPT-II), a rare mitochondrial disease. He believes he's been called to use his journey and technical background to help the rare disease community. EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS Can you share your background and a bot about what you do? There's a Walt Whitman quote that talks about a journey and how you never understand that journey until looking backwards and that's what I do a lot-- look back and see how all the paths crossed, what I've been blessed to be able to do and how I can bless others. I've been in healthcare technology for 22 years and have done and seen a lot. Personally, about 18 years ago I realized something wasn't right after several hospitalizations. I had a great primary physician and my diagnostic journey was quick. I was sent to the University of Alabama at Birmingham which has an amazing rare disease group. They did a muscle biopsy and quickly determined that I had a rare mitochondrial disease called CPT-II. This part of my journey gives me the passion for what I do today. What did you feel seeing another patient with your disease on Diagnosis? I have gone through her same pains, though she had it more severe than I do. Going on a walk and locking up, being crippled and subsequently hospitalized, I could relate on a lot of levels. I had never seen anyone with my disease, so it was interesting and a chance to digest that I do have a rare disease and others do too. What is Across Healthcare? We do consulting contracting all across healthcare. We have a team of 65 people, all technologists, and we love working in healthcare. We have rewritten and helped to write electronic healthcare records for large companies across the country. They hire us for a range of things on the technology side to help them build the next generation of new product. We also have worked in the life sciences and pharma arena and bring that to the table across healthcare. We work with large institutional review boards on their technology and site-based clinical trial management systems. We've built patient apps, durable medical inventory systems and a lot of other technologies across the field. A product we've built called Matrix is focused in the rare disease space. Matrix is built for patients and caregivers to do the things they need to do to care for themselves on a daily basis and information they need to track. We work with patient advocacy groups who use our tool to send an invite to their rare disease patients and it helps aggregate information. Our product helps provide registries for natural history studies. Ultimately the Matrix system is to serve as a platform for co-production that everyone uses for daily care, research and studies and a feedback loop for patients and caregivers. How does someone sign up for the Matrix? We typically reach out to sign onto the product and we start educating the community through that outreach. What advancements have you seen in medical technology, data and what can be gathered from digitizing and organizing? Twenty years ago, systems were not interoperable and data didn't flow between systems. There's a lot more of that, but there's a lot more work to do. We are opening that up and leveraging those opportunities with our platform to pull data out of electronic medical records, but there's a long way to go. What is the cost for a rare disease group to join the platform? It depends, but I've never let a price point overcome my ability to deliver a platform to a group. Typically it starts at $10K - $15K to start and an annual fee of $10K - $20K. We are flexible and have a scale built in to accommodate organizations that are growing. Who are your rare disease heroes? The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and what they've done. The therapies they have delivered over the last ten years is truly amazing and I'm blessed to have been a part of that on the technology team that delivered their registry platform. They are an awesome group of people. In a new interview with Stansberry Research, Saunders says BTC is on track to shatter $100,000 in the next five years. After that, he believes Bitcoin will set its sights on $1 million, and the outcome will depend on how governments decide to deal with the the leading cryptocurrency. “I honestly think now, if you look at the market cap and you look at the trillions of dollars that are being printed by the month these days, I definitely think we’re going to hit $100,000 in the next five years." California recently announced a ban on the sale of new internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles in 2035. This is an incredible decision but one which has been met with a surprising -- or not -- amount of resistance. I'm going to explain why everybody who disagrees with this is wrong. The first argument I've heard is people complaining that they should be allowed to buy ICE vehicles. This is not a ban on the sale of all ICE vehicles; only new ones. The second argument I've heard is that this will unfairly burden low income families. First, everything in the US unfairly burdens low income families thanks to our woefully inept social safety net. Second, low income families tend to buy used cars, not new cars (never mind the fact that most people in general tend to buy used cars), so this won't actually change anything. Third, and as a follow-up to the previous point, it needs to be pointed out that we're talking about something 15 years in the future; that's about as long as Tesla has been around (17 years), and look what it's accomplished in that time. Come 2035, not only Tesla, but countless other auto-makers will offer EVs in the $20K price range ($30K assuming 3% inflation rates); and countless used EVs will be available by then in the $10K-$20K range, if not cheaper. Finally, the simple fact is that this sort of change must happen; it cannot not happen. The mathematically certain risks due to climate mandate that we make such drastic changes, or the harm caused by inaction will be far greater than the secondary harm caused by action. I’m going to share a BIG mindset tip that will help you feel more grounded in your business, and a really awesome way to authentically differentiate yourself online. Let’s get started!**If you’re a new entrepreneur, chances are you are SUPER excited for the prospect of having your own full time coaching practice… and SUPER frazzled and confused about all of the things you have to do. Last time, I shared the ONE simple funnel that you can focus on as a new coach to book your coaching practice, and today, I’m going to share a big mindset tip that will help you feel even more grounded.So let’s get right into it!I wanna start by asking you something - what do you think needs to happen before you start getting consistent clients, and make enough money to leave your job and have all of the freedom you desires?If you’re anything like how I was, you may believe you have to be mega internet famous with a huge following in order to make real money online.That notion - that I had to be the Internet’s NEXT BIG THING - kept me paralyzed. I constantly compared myself to other coaches, and went back and forth between feeling like I had something to share with the world, and feeling like I couldn’t even compete because everyone else was offering something much more interesting than I was.I asked myself, who was I to hang my shingle as a transformational coach when there were a million other coaches out there? Who would even care?I thought I had to build a big newsletter list, a huge social media following, maybe write a book, do a ton of guest blogging, establish myself as a speaker, have a GORGEOUS website… and THEN I’d start getting clients.If I hadn’t tossed that notion out of the window, I wouldn’t be a coach today. That doesn’t mean I don’t have those things, or want those things even now, but it wasn’t a requirement for me to achieve freedom from my 9-5 and make it as a full-time 6 figure coach.So ask yourself - what contingencies are you putting on your dreams? What are you telling yourself NEEDS to happen before you make it online?And is that really true?Because if your dreams stay vague and hazy - or too many steps ahead of where you are today - you won’t have the power to manifest because you’ll be giving off unclear vibes to the Universe. One day you might want a killer website, the next day you might want to partner with people, the next day you’re trying to learn how to guest blog or learn SEO. It’s too frantic and all over the place.Does that make sense?OK, next I’d love to help ground you into what ACTUALLY needs to happen for the majority of you.Most of you are still in a 9-5, and you’re DREAMING of handing in your 2 weeks notice to your boss and NEVER looking back.For most of you, what you desire most and what’s NEXT for you is FREEDOM. Not fame, not a book, not a retreat in Bali.Are you with me? Cool. So then the question becomes, how do you achieve FREEDOM from your job?Well, that depends on how much you need to make in order to feel comfortable leaving your job, or supporting yourself full-time in your coaching business.So come up with a number (Click here to grab your copy of my free show notes for this episode to complete this exercise) that feels good - that includes it all. Break it down - what does that look like per year, per month? For many of you starting out, that number will be between $5-10K for FREEDOM and then $10K-$20K for feeling like you’re living abundantly.Once you have that number, the question becomes, how much is your signature program, and how many clients do you need to book every month in your signature program to sustain that number? If it’s $5K, you might need 2 2500 clients or 5 1000 clients or 10 500 clients.2-10 clients a month isn’t THAT MUCH. IT doesn’t require a MEGA following. A world tour. A book. It does require you to have your systems set up and in place, but it doesn’t require you to be famous first. Make sense?COOL. So maybe right now, you’re like OK Mona Lisa, I got it - so I need 5 clients a month. Who is going to wanna work with me if there are a million other transformational/health/career/relationship (pick your niche) coaches out there?Well, you’ve GOT TO SHOW up as YOU online - not as this idea of who you think you should be.YOUR VIBE attracts your tribe. Cause while there are a lot of other coaches doing what you wanna do, no one is going to share your message in the way you’re sharing it. Think about it - Beyonce didn’t say, oh, you know what, there are so many good singers in the world, nevermind. And her songs aren’t about anything wildly original - she’s talking about love, relationships, women running the world… and she’s put HER unique flavor into it.Like Beyonce, I didn't re-invent the wheel here. I didn't invent online marketing and funnels. I learned it from experience, yes, and also from teachers who learned from their teachers, who learned from their teachers. Your content isn't original - you are original, and the way you show up is unique to you.You’ve got to learn how to infuse YOUR personality into your marketing, write the way you talk, and share your stories. Share what you’ve been through. Be a human. What got you to where you are today? What makes you passionate about what you’re doing?In the show notes, I’m going to have you write something called your origin story.The story that explains what GOT YOU HERE, what drives you, how you came to be a coach and do what you’re doing today.If you feel squeamish at all about writing about yourself, and you think - OMG who actually cares about all of this, I don’t wanna talk about myself - I want to tell you… you’re right. Your story is going to sound boring and irrelevant and unrelatable to MOST PEOPLE in the world. That is super confusing for many people, because most people think that the more you work, the more results you are going to get. In fact, working hard is not always the most important thing. There is a journey that a beginner entrepreneur goes through to become an expert. A beginner in business is always reading and not implementing. He is focused on the repetitive boring work that usually brings less results. The intermediate entrepreneur is someone who has found how to get results. People who get sales are not beginners, because they have found a way to make some real profit in his own business. The intermediate entrepreneur knows a very simple business process that he implements daily: • How to get the leads • How to close the leads on a sales call • How to deliver a service or a product to clients If you become really good at the steps above, you can get to $10K - $20K in revenue per month. The advanced guys cannot just rely on the “work hard process”. They have to start becoming smarter and develop more advanced skills. They have to not just read, but instantly implement. Advanced people gain very specific knowledge related to their area of expertise. They cannot read and learn everything. That is impossible. That is why they focus only on the most important thing in their business and they try to become really good at it. These people are super targeted in what they are trying to learn. Someone who wants to become an expert about Facebook adds has to read only about Facebook adds and nothing else. You cannot learn everything about what you are interested in from books. You have to be very selective and to search very smartly where the best place to learn from is. The speed of implementation that advanced guys are able to reach is incredible. They are mainly focused on implementing a simple business model every single day. It does not matter what other activities you have. If you want to be an advanced sales guy, you have to spend at least 4/5 hours a day working on your business. If you do not have a job, you can spend 10 and more hours a day. After you manage to get in the 6 – figure business, you will hit a wall and you will need to go to a more advanced level where you have to learn from really smart people and make sure that you learn really targeted stuff. I have a mentor that says that his biggest regret is that he has been working 10 to 16 hours a day when he was younger. If he had a really good plan and working in a very well tracked and data driven way, if he knew what is going to get him more results and focus only on that, he would have been able to get a lot more results. If you work more than 8 hours a day, there is a very high chance for you to get burned out. The more you work, the less productive you will become. It is very inefficient to work super hard forever. The really advanced guys say that if you are really data driven and you are focused on the growth, you will get more results and you will have more free time for yourself.
