A shadow lurks in the woods, its glowing eyes cutting through the darkness—a creature caught between man and beast. From chilling encounters on backroads to terrifying hunts through the wilderness, tonight we attempt to uncover the truth behind the legend of the Dogman.IN THIS EPISODE: In the darkened recesses of the woodland and the neglected reaches of rural America, a legend prowls the night. Witnesses describe a massive, muscular creature trapped between the form of a man and a beast. With glowing eyes piercing through the darkness and a bone-chilling howl that sends shivers down the spine of the unfortunate who hears it. The Dogman has been sighted since at least the late 1800s, from the wilds of Michigan to the backroads of Wisconsin. But what is it? A cryptid still to be classified? A supernatural entity? Or something worse, hiding just outside the borders of our reality?CHAPTERS & TIME STAMPS (All Times Approximate)…00:00:00.000 = Disclaimer and Lead-In00:06:30.815 = Show Open00:09:15.693 = Linda Godfrey's Legacy: The Beginning of the Bray Road Mystery00:19:27.253 = The Chenango Encounter: The Monster, The Sheriff, and the Men In Black00:48:12.498 = The Haymarsh Horror: A Night Watchman's Terror00:49:37.744 = Battle of the Beasts: When Cryptids Collide01:02:58.759 = The Hunter Becomes The Hunted01:07:11.620 = Hunted Since Childhood: The Dogman's Return01:09:31.277 = What Lurks By The Mahoning River01:14:04.580 = Tremors And Terror: An Earthquake Brings The Dogman01:17:59.823 = Grandpa's Cryptic Cryptid Secret01:21:44.060 = Claws on the Rifle01:24:08.136 = Backyard Beast01:28:42.041 = Night Run on US-3101:31:48.805 = That Was No Bear01:35:59.669 = Hunched Horror of Maple Grove Road01:38:58.591 = Similar Canid Cryptids (Beast of Seven Chutes, Ozark Howler)01:41:16.497 = Dogman Vs. It's time again for Life in the Fast Lane, but first, we've got to take our Night run, with glasses. Haha. Even before that, though, we cover a truly nothing of a deleted scene, but Joe finds a way to make it interesting (even though, in doing so, it would make 2 Fast 2 Furious a completely different movie). We discuss the end of the Paul Walter Hauser/Vin Diesel beef (although whether Vin Diesel even knew about it is unclear) before moving into the most prolific Running the VIN segment yet (by far) (with an interesting Suki-related post getting relegated to the next installment). A new Vin persona enters the chat. We come up with a new idea for the release of Fast X. We get an all-time great You freaking tube comment, an exciting fan project update, and some really good long emails. We spend a long time talking about the MCU, at which point we implore you to listen to X is for Podcast. Email us: family@cageclub.me Visit our Patreon page at patreon.com/2fast2forever. Phish's three-night run at Alpine ValleyLarry Mishkin features a Grateful Dead concert at a "funky" venue on July 29, 1994, at Buckeye Lake, Ohio. The Grateful Dead opened with "Rain" by the Beatles, reflecting their admiration for the Beatles' music. "Rain," primarily written by John Lennon, was a song exploring themes of reality and illusion and was notable for its use of reverse audio effects. The Grateful Dead incorporated several Beatles songs into their performances, demonstrating their appreciation for the band. The conversation touches on the Grateful Dead's setlist, which included several opening songs like "Feel Like a Stranger" and "Bertha." The speakers recall personal experiences and the excitement of attending these concerts, sharing memories of Buckeye Lake as a vibrant venue despite unpredictable weather. The conversation transitions to "Wang Dang Doodle," a blues standard written by Willie Dixon and performed by artists like Howlin' Wolf and Koko Taylor. The Grateful Dead's affinity for blues music and their ability to blend various musical influences into their performances is highlighted. Larry changes his focus and shifts to a discussion about the band Phish, detailing a recent three-night run at Alpine Valley. He express his excitement and nostalgia for the venue, sharing experiences of attending concerts there over the years. The recap of Phish's performances includes a detailed analysis of the setlists, noting songs like "46 Days," "Moma Dance," "Cities," "Cavern," "Axilla," "Down with Disease," "Bathtub Gin," and a cover of Led Zeppelin's "Good Times Bad Times." Larry's enthusiasm is evident as he recount the energy and musicianship of Phish, highlighting the unique experience of attending their concerts and the connection it fosters among fans. Music critic Mike Rowe calls it a party song in an urban style with its massive, rolling, exciting beat.[1] It was first recorded by Howlin' Wolf in 1960 and released by Chess Records in 1961. In 1965, Dixon and Leonard Chess persuaded Koko Taylor to record it for Checker Records, a Chess subsidiary. Taylor's rendition quickly became a hit, reaching number thirteen on the Billboard R&B chart and number 58 on the pop chart.[2] "Wang Dang Doodle" became a blues standard[3] and has been recorded by various artists. Taylor's version was added to the United States National Recording Registry in 2023. In 1995, Taylor's rendition was inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame in the "Classics of Blues Recording – Singles or Album Tracks" category.[17] The Foundation noted that the song was the last blues single produced by Dixon to reach the record charts, and "became Koko Taylor's signature crowdpleaser, inspiring singalongs to the 'all night long' refrain night after night".[17]Taylor's version of "Wang Dang Doodle" was selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the National Recording Registry in 2023.[18]Chuck Berry, Bruce Hornsby, John Popper, Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead and Willie Dixon's daughter, Shirley Dixon, performed "Wang Dang Doodle" in tribute to Willie Dixon at the 1994 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. In his autobiography, I Am The Blues, Willie Dixon says;Wang Dang Doodle meant a good time. Especially if a guy came in from the South. A wang dang meant having a ball and a lot of dancing, they called it a rocking style so that's what it meant to wang dang doodle. Wang Dang Doodle was first performed by the Grateful Dead in August 1983. The song was played only a few times each year through the rest of the 1980's. From 1991 onwards it was performed more often averaging about 15 performances a year through to 1995. The Grateful Dead covered a fairly lengthy list of his songs, attesting to his influence on the band: “Down in the Bottom,” “I Ain't Superstitious,” “I Just Want to Make Love To You,” “Little Red Rooster,” “The Same Thing,” “Spoonful,” and “Wang Dang Doodle.” Plus a couple they only played once, or only in soundcheck. The song was written during the sessions for Rob Wasserman's Trios album. “Guitar Player” magazine ran an interview with Weir in 1993:I had this chord progression and melody that I wanted to run by Willie to see if he liked it .... he did, so he started dashing off words. He wanted me to run a certain section by him again and stuff like that, and we started working on a bridge. Then he dashes off this sheet of lyrics and hands it to me. Now I'm really stoked to be working with the legendary Willie Dixon and I'm prepared for just about anything. He hands these lyrics to me and I'm reading through them. And they seem, you know, awfully simplistic. Like there wasn't a whole lot to them........Now he wants me to read through it and sing the melody I have and see if they fit. And so I started singing through these simplistic lyrics, and that simplicity takes on a whole other direction.By the time I had sung through them, it's like my head is suddenly eons wide. I can hear what's happening just sort of echoing around in there and I'm astounded by the simple grace of what he has just presented to me. I'm sitting there with my mouth open literally, and Willie's laughing. He's just sitting there laughing, saying, 'Now you see it. Now you see it. That's the wisdom of the bluesPlayed: 44 timesFirst: February 21, 1993 at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Arena, Oakland, CA, USALast: July 8, 1995 at Soldier Field, Chicago, IL, USA SHOW No. 3: I Want To Tell You Track #11 0:00 – 1:35 "I Want to Tell You" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles from their 1966 album Revolver. It was written and sung by George Harrison, the band's lead guitarist. After "Taxman" and "Love You To", it was the third Harrison composition recorded for Revolver. Its inclusion on the LP marked the first time that he was allocated more than two songs on a Beatles album, a reflection of his continued growth as a songwriter beside John Lennon and Paul McCartney. When writing "I Want to Tell You", Harrison drew inspiration from his experimentation with the hallucinogenic drug LSD. The lyrics address what he later termed "the avalanche of thoughts that are so hard to write down or say or transmit".[1] In combination with the song's philosophical message, Harrison's stuttering guitar riff and the dissonance he employs in the melody reflect the difficulties of achieving meaningful communication. The recording marked the first time that McCartney played his bass guitar part after the band had completed the rhythm track for a song, a technique that became commonplace on the Beatles' subsequent recordings.George Harrison wrote "I Want to Tell You" in the early part of 1966, the year in which his songwriting matured in terms of subject matter and productivity.[2] As a secondary composer to John Lennon and Paul McCartney in the Beatles,[3] Harrison began to establish his own musical identity through his absorption in Indian culture,[4][5] as well as the perspective he gained through his experiences with the hallucinogenic drug LSD.[6] According to author Gary Tillery, the song resulted from a "creative surge" that Harrison experienced at the start of 1966. In his autobiography, I, Me, Mine, Harrison says that "I Want to Tell You" addresses "the avalanche of thoughts that are so hard to write down or say or transmit".[1][12] Authors Russell Reising and Jim LeBlanc cite the song, along with "Rain" and "Within You Without You", as an early example of the Beatles abandoning "coy" statements in their lyrics and instead "adopt[ing] an urgent tone, intent on channeling some essential knowledge, the psychological and/or philosophical epiphanies of LSD experience" to their listeners.[13] Writing in The Beatles Anthology, Harrison likened the outlook inspired by his taking the drug to that of "an astronaut on the moon, or in his spaceship, looking back at the Earth. I was looking back to the Earth from my awareness." The song's first release was in January 1968 as "Mighty Quinn" in a version by the British band Manfred Mann,[4] which became a great success. It has been recorded by a number of performers, often under the "Mighty Quinn" title. The subject of the song is the arrival of Quinn (an Eskimo), who prefers a more relaxed lifestyle [" jumping queues, and making haste just ain't my cup of meat"] and refuses hard work ["Just tell me where to put 'em and I'll tell you who to call"], but brings joy to the people.Dylan is widely believed to have derived the title character from actor Anthony Quinn's role as an Eskimo in the 1960 movie The Savage Innocents.[5] Dylan has also been quoted as saying that the song was nothing more than a "simple nursery rhyme". A 2004 Chicago Tribune article[6] said the song was named after Gordon Quinn, co-founder of Kartemquin Films, who had given Dylan and Howard Alk uncredited editing assistance on Eat the Document.Dylan first recorded the song in 1967 during the Basement Tapes sessions, but did not release a version for another three years. Meanwhile, the song was picked up and recorded in December 1967 by the British band Manfred Mann,[7] who released it as a single in the US on 8 January 1968 under the title "Mighty Quinn".[8] A UK single followed within a week.[8] The Manfred Mann version reached No. 1 in the UK Singles Chart for the week of 14 February 1968, and remained there the following week.[9] It also charted on the American Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaking at No. 10, and reached No. 4 in Cash Box. Cash Box called it a "funky-rock track" with "a trace of calypso [to] add zest to a tremendous effort." So this is an extended episode capturing ten nights of TEN at Soho Theatre. The turn around in emotions and energy was unbelievable. I feel so incredibly lucky and grateful to be able to do this, and to call it my career. I've loved it! This is a very honest reflection, might be TMI and apologies if there is any offence caused, not intentional, just the point of this podcast is to show behind the scenes, if you like your comedians untouchable, funny assassins, then this might not be for you! Thanks for supporting as always, See you soon Belfast and Bristol! xxx
Here we are with Part Two of the Stories from the Skunk Ape Night Run! This time we've got Paul Gibbs, Greg Burnham, Gary James, and Noel Medina! This year Noel Medina made it out with a last-minute decision on race day, he went on to place second overall behind Kalo Axsom! Paul Gibbs has done the Skunk Ape Night Run before, and this time is crushed it going 3:55:50 from last year's 4:38:58! As for Gary and Greg, this was there furthest trail run distance to date and these guys absolutely crushed it! This is a classic Florida race that covers almost all of the terrains Florida has to offer. From pasture lanes, mud, dirt roads, single track trails on the Florida Trail, some hills, to sugar sand, fire berms, and more! As the sun goes down, that's when the wildlife kicks off. You can hear the drone of frogs from all over, hoots from the owls, calls from birds, buzzing of bugs, and the yips of coyotes in the distance. Part of that sound and also silence, it will make you wonder if “just that sound” was from something else... perhaps, the Skunk Ape.
Here we are with Episode 50! This time we've got four of the ladies who crushed it at the Skunk Ape Night Run back on July 23rd; Laura Walker, Laura Bradely, Renee Tavakoli, and Lisa Hanes-Cox! Laura Walker was your woman's champion with a time of 2:43:12, smashing the previous woman's course record 2:56:00 held by Deanna Doane. Renee Tavakoli also placed 3rd Overall for the woman, her time of 3:07:20 is now the fourth fastest for the woman! Laura Bradley, she was a guest on the show for Episode 29! She placed 5th Overall for the woman. She also placed 2nd for the woman at the Skunk Ape's Revenge 60k back in February. Lisa, like Renee, was also doing the Summer Slam... so this was her second weekend in a row racing! She did the Vero Beach Octopus 50k the weekend prior, then took on the Trident Night Half-Marathon the weekend after Skunk Ape!

Brent Manke is a runner, web designer and writer who lives in Steinbach, Manitoba with his wife, three daughters, and new pup. After an initial venture into sprinting in grade school, Brent became more serious about running over the last decade. After competing in many 5k, 10k, and half marathons, he ran his first marathon in 2018. The following year he found his love for trail running and participated in his first ultra. Since then, Brent has competed in many of the ultras and other trail races in Manitoba. For Brent, running is a medium for exploring his world, and also for creating art. In 2018 Brent began writing a daily “run haiku” based on his morning run, and has compiled nearly 1000 little poems since. In the fall Brent released a book based on this project called “Morning Rounds.”Also in 2018 Brent started the Longest Night Run as a way to show support and solidarity to a friend diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. The overnight relay has become an annual tradition, in 2020 seeing 160 participants and raising $14,000 for the family. In the wake of this friend's passing, the event carries on this year as a memorial as well as a way of showing support for others who are suffering in the community. Although the Longest Night Run was founded with one person in mind, prolonged suffering, extreme presence, grief, acceptance and hope are part of the shared human experience for us all. A 56-year-old woman in Kennewick, Washington decided it was time for a trip to Taco Bell. Her vehicle of choice was a humongous RV, but her problem got really sticky when she entered the drive-thru going in the wrong direction. When the cops arrived on the scene, there she was . . . stuck against the building, backwards.

This is going to be a different kind of podcast. On Ron’s Amazing Stories you will hear excerpts from episode #251 - Stagecoach, an outtake from The Horror Express and one scary story from episode #229 - The Night Run. Add two new chapters from our book Anything You Can Do by Randall Garrett and a few more surprises that should round things out. Featured Story - Chapters 7 & 8 of Anything You Can Do… This is a classic science fiction story written by and published in 1963. An alien crash lands on Earth, and for ten years terrorizes the planet. Earth’s only hope is Bart Stanton, a medically-engineered superman, designed for the sole purpose of confronting the “Nipe”. In the story so far we met the Nipe and seen what he can do. We have also met Bart Stanton the superhuman whose job it is to stop the Nipe. In this episode, we spend some quality one on one time with the Nipe and learn some of what it is planning. Also, we introduce a new character, and it’s not clear why. We play both chapters 7 and 8 this week. Back in early 2001 I did a show on Mansfield 103.2 called the Late Night Run. It was my first solo show on radio and it was a VT'd affair. Looking back I count myself very lucky that I was given a shot because I was rubbish. However, at the time I was working with a fella called Matt Genever who was in my opinion a comedy genius and we came up with a character who would appear on the show from time to time. His name was Barry Biggins, a security guard from Blidworth who worked in a place called the compound. We would record the calls and they would go out early in the morning most nights. Matt was one of the most creative people I have ever worked with and we both had a great laugh telling Barry's story. Sadly Matt died of a brain tumour a few years later and I've always wanted to dig out the audio and put it on here as a bit of a tribute to a funny and inventive man who is much missed. I can't believe that we got away with some of the things that went out. These are the only Barry calls that remain because my parents house was broken into and the blooming thieves they took a lot of my Barry mini discs but these will give you a flavour of the sorts of things we got up.

Rodrigo lives in New Jersey and 2014 is his second season of racing triathlons. He’s competed in running races for the last 4 years and he’s been swimming for 8 years. He is training for the Syracuse Half Ironman 70.3 on June 22. Be sure to check out episode 34 for his post-race interview. Here are his questions that we discussed in the interview: General 1. What's the common volume of training for a person on their second season training for their first half? I feel like my training compared to others might have too much volume. Here's the breakdown: Mon: Morning swim, Night Bike (20 - 25 miles) Tue: Morning swim, NIght Run (35 - 45 min) Wed: Night Bike (30 - 35 miles) Thu: Morning swim, Night Run (40 - 60 min) Fri: Off Sat: Long bike ride (30 - 50 miles), Run (3 miles easy) Sun: Long run (8 - 10 miles) 3 swims, 3 bikes for 5-6 hours, 4 runs for 3 hours - 10-11 hours/week. 2. Can i get away with biking twice a week for an half Iron? If so, what should be my key workouts? 3. Swim: I used to just train straight 1 - 1.5 miles two or three times a week. This training program is now asking me to do more intervals (say warmup 300, then 8 x 100 with 15 rest, or 4 x 200 with 20 rest, kick, cool down). I feel like i'm going to lose my endurance not having the long swim in. Thoughts? 4. Big goal is Half Iron Syracuse but I have scheduled some road races in between. How good is that during training? How do you recommend approaching those weeks? I have included a half marathon in there. 5. Work / family and training balance: If there is a training in the week that you just have to miss (meetings, business dinners, family commitments things of that nature), which one is the most expendable? 6.Sleeping issues. Since i am training i find it hard to go to sleep. Any comments and advice? Nutrition 1. My diet is high on carbs. Need that for training. What's the right volume of carbs that you would recommend for someone in my situation? 2. How close to your race day nutrition should you be in training? I find it hard to get in many fluids in the bike. 3. What's cola good for? Since the interview with Andy Starykowicz [episode 19] I’ve been using it and it feels right but i don't know if it's something that I should always take. 4. Recovery: chocolate milk myth or reality? How soon after training? 5. Anything else in the bike for nutrition that I should consider? Bike Equipment 1. I Just got my first tri bike and didn't realize how much you can upgrade it. In order of importance what componentry would you upgrade? 3. Thoughts on indoors trainers? Are they effective or a waste of time/money? Could i substitute an indoor trainer with just a plain spinning bike at the gym? Race week/day 1. Thoughts on right taper for my training? 2. What are the essentials that i should have in the bike? Tube, CO2, etc? 3. Race day nutrition recommendations. Subscribe via iTunes
First run with the D man since I've been back.My app. crapped out on me but I got a clean recording with my Sony, and I got the distance data from Derick's iPhone.Incidentally he made a thirty minute Spreaker cast of the run.Look for it on JackalCub on Spreaker.
Solo run round the park to make up my hours for this week.Derick was otherwise engaged...
Derick was determined to be my top student so he wanted to run further than Sandy,so we needed more than 16K today, we lost track of our laps but that was because our app. crashed. It was working fine for 14K then it went wacky, we did two more 1.5K laps and one for luck plus our short run to and from the park.(20K was closer to our true distance!)
This was recorded on my iPod touch, hand held, unedited and without music. If the sound is good enough and there is sufficient content, this is the way to go.
After a shaky start, and a pit stop we ran for about 8 kilometres in the dark at our local park.Night running is cool!
