We're here to talk about the final chapter of The Red Pyramid and then make our predictions for what may come next. A lot happened in the last two chapters, so we do a mini recap. Carter gets the last POV chapter! The kids (and Amos) return to Brooklyn and are greeted by an enthusiastic Khufu. Muffin is safe and comfortable, and everyone gets a spot to sleep amongst the rubble. How thoughtful. It takes a while to rebuild the mansion, and each sibling has their own strength. Amos is still struggling with what happened to him, and we totally understand why–it was such a violation. Who is the real Amos and will we get to see him in Book 2? The amulets are safe, and we wonder what it'll be like when the kids are actually ready to host the gods again. Why can Carter see Anubis in his human form now? It must be so weird to see their old home in L.A. We were right about Julius, Osiris, and the Underworld throne! The banter between Anubis and Sadie is what romance books are made of! The situation with Julius is complicated to say the least, though we understand why he did what he did. Ruby shows up and we learn that she was kind of there with Isis when Sadie was hosting the goddess. Horus takes the throne of the gods and no one challenges him. Then all the gods bow to the Kanes. ZEUS WOULD NEVER. The gods restored the mansion, which is super nice, but we all know what we were really hoping for. Amos is leaving to go back to the House of Life and leaving the kids on their own. Except Bast is totally back! Carter thinks Sadie will want to go back to her grandparents, but she's totally going to stay with him in Brooklyn. We really loved the end of this book and how it hints to more coming soon. What were our favorite lines and favorite moments? What can we expect in Book 2? We can't wait to see the new recruits! Carter is totally going to track down the real Zia. En wie dan breekt betaalt, met de gemeenteraadsverkiezingen op 18 maart in het vooruitzicht. Formateur Jetten rondt dit werk dan af en stelt na kerstmis met de nieuwe ministerploeg het nader in te vullen regeerprogram vast. Het kan wél. Sterker uit de storm. Een nieuwe start voor Nederland. Bouwen op vertrouwen. "Quietly ambitious and a bit unhinged." Somewhere in the Midwest, a talented young couple is quietly building an escape room empire. Their company, 60 to Escape, has over 12 different escape rooms across 3 locations, a puzzle-filled mini-golf experience, and a haunt so extensive and scenic that it was used as the set for a horror movie called Haunt Season on Amazon Prime. During haunt season, she manages four other artists as they get eighty performers into costumes and makeup in under two hours. Stephen and Stevie met, fell in love, and became "The Steves." They now run their immersive entertainment ventures together, crafting and creating much of it themselves, along with their team of talented folks. Stephen was a contestant on Season 1 of Holey Moley, a zany mini-golf reality competition show, and Stevie was a contestant on Season 9 of Face Off, a special effects makeup reality competition show. In this episode of Derms and Conditions, host James Q. Del Rosso, DO, welcomes David Osborne, PhD, a formulation expert behind several dermatologic topicals, to explore what drives topical performance, using dapsone and roflumilast as case studies. They begin by challenging long-held vehicle dogma rooted in mid-20th-century corticosteroid training: the idea that ointments always outperform creams or lotions. They note that with newer solubilizers, stabilizers, and vehicles, those rules don't consistently hold for products approved in the modern era. They next revisit propylene glycol (PG) as a classic double-edged tool: its ability to dissolve more drug helped create “super-potent” corticosteroid lotions, yet higher PG levels can irritate skin, induce contact allergy, and compromise barrier function. However, they clarify that small amounts may serve as a humectant and offer antimicrobial benefits. They then discuss topical roflumilast's development to illustrate modern formulation problem-solving: the roflumilast molecule is difficult to dissolve in water and tends to precipitate when water is present. The formulation approach minimized supersaturation (allowing a small solid fraction), leveraged a high purity grade of diethylene glycol monoethyl ether (DEGEE), known under the commercial name Transcutol, to hold the active ingredient drug (roflumilast) in solution in the presence of water, and delivered a highly moisturizing, propylene glycol-free and ethanol-free cream. Use of a unique emulsification approach ensured physical stability even at elevated temperatures while avoiding lipid extraction and additional barrier damage. For topical dapsone, Osborne incorporated pharmaceutical-grade Transcutol (free of ethylene-glycol contaminants) to partition the drug, slow release, and reduce systemic exposure. He emphasizes “topical product metamorphosis”: as water evaporates on skin, the local Transcutol concentration rises, dissolving residual crystals and enhancing delivery, the opposite of older vehicles that left behind residual visible crystals and under-delivered active. They close by looking ahead towards preservative minimalism, microbiome-aware vehicles, and designing drugs intrinsically optimized for cutaneous delivery so the base can remain as inert as possible. "  Think of it as a wild Midwestern version of the MIT mystery hunt  for a slightly different crowd where people drink quite a bit more." For three whole days, over 10,000 trivia challengers descend on the tiny town of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, for The World's Largest Trivia Contest. The contest runs on the local college radio station at the University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point for 54 hours straight, asking eight questions per hour. Teams have only the length of two radio songs to call in their answer. Yup, that's right. You call into the radio, old school style. It's a madcap frenzy of teams frantically searching through bins of catalogued items spanning from cereal boxes to DVD covers, or racking their brains to remember an obscure cartoon reference. For 43 years Jim “Oz” Oliva was ringmaster of this trivia circus. He wrote most of the questions and organized the contest. Jim revels in finding the most obscure bits of trivia to throw at his players. In response, teams have amassed entire rooms filled with snack packaging, atlases, and the booklets from CDs, among other items. With the advent of the internet, Jim had to change how he formatted the questions to stay ahead of searchable keywords. You can hear the glee in Jim's voice when he talks about all the techniques he devised to outmaneuver trivia players. He even had to hold onto all of the garbage from the question writing room otherwise players have been known to go through the trash, attempting to gain an edge over the competition. Jim is blunt, funny, and mischievous. I really enjoyed hearing all his stories from his many years of running this crazy trivia contest and learning about the wild culture surrounding it. She has a beautiful way to help people find words when they don't know what to say, and reminds us that grief doesn't have to be so isolating. She walks alongside women through pregnancy and postpartum, and she also creates space for those in the midst of grief.
