Hi, my name is Kim and I don't like to be told what to do. (But I do love your calls!) This week on Laugh Lines, Penn and I take your voicemails and unpack everything from Gen Z stares to accidentally breeding super-intelligent squirrels to how “smash” means something very different now. (Sorry, Heather.) Penn also shares what it was like to meet one of his comedy heroes, Weird Al Yankovic, and why “I may get canceled for this…” is never a great sentence starter. Spoiler alert: Penn does it anyway… twice! We discuss wheels on your feet, Tony Hawk doppelgängers, and how Gen Z thinks Nine Inch Nails is a literal hardware situation. Penn and I also need your help naming our Laugh Lines community. (Does Laugh Liners sound too much like Flatliners?) Join us for an always chaotic and fun hang… hard pants not required. In this episode, you'll discover:Why waiting for certainty keeps you broke - and what to do insteadThe magic of giving before getting - how generosity becomes your competitive advantageHow to delete your inner "what if" voice - and start trusting life's intelligenceWhat happens when you stop asking for permission and start creating your own opportunities?Last week, I was talking to a friend who's been "getting ready" to launch her business for three years. She has the perfect website mockups, a detailed business plan, and a spreadsheet that would make a NASA engineer weep with joy. Meanwhile, she's still working a job she hates, waiting for the right moment that apparently requires a solar eclipse and her horoscope to say "today's the day."It got me thinking about the stories we tell ourselves about readiness, about safety, about doing things the "right" way. Most of us have been conditioned to believe that preparation equals protection. That if we just plan enough, research enough, save enough, we can somehow guarantee our success before we even start. Spoiler alert: that guarantee doesn't exist. But what if that's backwards? What if the very act of waiting for certainty is what keeps us stuck in patterns that don't serve us?Sometimes the biggest shift isn't about changing what you do—it's about changing who you surround yourself with.Today our guest is Mark Yuzuik, a transformational speaker and master hypnotist who has motivated and entertained hundreds of thousands of people throughout the world for more than 25 years. He's living proof that when you stop waiting for permission, life starts saying yes in ways you never expected.Links from the episode:Show Notes: mindlove.com/413Join the Mind Love CollectiveSign up for The Morning Mind Love for short daily notes to wake up inspiredSupport Mind Love SponsorsSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

This week, Kristen and I go full sci-fi (but, like, the real kind) with the one and only Dr. Eric Topol—cardiologist, author, and guy who's been yelling for years that the way we do medicine is… less than ideal. We talk about how AI could transform healthcare, whether doctors are finally ready to embrace empathy, and why the average hospital still runs on fax machines and vibes. Oh—and don't worry, I made sure to ask him if AI is going to come for my job. (Spoiler: probably.) It's a hopeful, sometimes uncomfortable, but deeply fascinating look at what medicine could be—if we don't screw it up. Takeaways: Why Dr. Topol believes the biggest failure in medicine isn't technology—it's the loss of empathy. How large language models (like ChatGPT) are already reshaping diagnostics and documentation. Why we should worry less about AI replacing doctors—and more about bad doctors using AI. The shocking inefficiencies still plaguing hospitals (hello, fax machines). What med schools might look like in the near future—and why humility should be part of the curriculum. — Want more Dr. Eric Topol? Ah, adulthood—the never-ending escape room with no clues, no key, and someone yelling “Have you tried turning it off and on again?” in the background. In this season finale of All the Feelings: Adulting, Pete and Tommy break down one of the biggest lies we've ever told ourselves: that one day, magically, we would become Real Adults™. Spoiler: we do not. As far as our research has demonstrated, no one does. We're all still wondering how to reheat pizza without judgment. This week, we confront the myth of generational superiority, from Gen X's latchkey nihilism to Gen Z's emotionally stoic eye contact, and the deep, soul-sucking silence of the millennial pause. Why do Boomers look so confident while setting their routers on fire? Why does Gen Alpha speak only in sound effects? Why are we, Gen X, the most stressed-out and financially unprepared sandwich in the buffet line of existence? So it's anecdotes, slang trivia, a breakdown of eye-contact etiquette, and a dash of Lord of the Flies (plus its real-life, wholesome Tongan counterpoint) this week as we ask the central question: what if nobody knows what they're doing and that's… actually the point? Whether you're prepping your taxes or debating whether mozzarella sticks count as a coping mechanism (they do), we invite you to put down the measuring stick and pick up that diploma, because you're already here—and you're already doing it.Congratulations. Is your grocery bill beefier than your sandwich? This week, Joe Saul-Sehy, OG, and Neighbor Doug unpack inflation in a way that only we can—by biting into Len Penzo's Annual Sandwich Survey. Yes, prices are up, and yes, you can still eat well without triggering a credit card crisis. But it's not just meat and mustard on today's menu. We're also serving a fresh look at 401(k) “leakage”—that drip-drip-drip of hardship withdrawals that's turning your retirement plan into a leaky faucet. You'll get pro-level insight on how to patch those holes before your future income soaks the floor. And if you're paying for (or dreading paying for) college, Christine from the Stacker community, who works in higher ed, joins to offer sharp and timely advice on keeping costs in check—from completing the FAFSA to finding overlooked aid. Len Penzo's Sandwich Index Which sandwiches give you the most delicious bang for your inflation-adjusted buck? (Spoiler: bologna stages a quiet comeback.) 401(k) Trouble Brewing Hardship withdrawals are on the rise. Why it matters, how to avoid them, and what better options exist when life throws you a cash crisis. Tracking Expenses Like a Pro Joe, OG, and Doug explore the subtle ways inflation seeps into your budget—and how paying attention to where your money leaks gives you power back. Higher Ed, Lower Bills Stacker Christine breaks down must-know tips on navigating skyrocketing tuition, including a FAFSA pep talk that could save you thousands. Tuna vs. Roast Beef: The Sandwich Showdown Plus: Is the BLT still king? Can the humble tuna salad hold its ground against the mighty Big Mac? And where does salami fit into the sandwich power rankings? Trivia, Movie Talk, and Park City Tales No Stacking Benjamins episode is complete without a detour or three—from Doug's trivia trap to stories from the road and screen. Takeaway for Stackers: In high-cost times, it's the small wins—like swapping in store brands, packing a lunch, or tracking that budget leak—that give you the edge. And while it's tempting to ignore those tiny cracks in your retirement plan or daily spending, you're much better off fixing them before the flood. Want to brag about your favorite money-saving sandwich? Drop into the Basement Facebook group and share it—bonus points if it doesn't involve bologna. You're standing in an open house, sweating in a blazer, and someone asks how many HVAC units are in the home. Cue the internal panic. In this episode, we're diving into one of the most relatable questions we've ever received: How much do I actually need to know about houses to be a good Realtor? Spoiler alert: more than “I'll find out for you” on repeat, but less than a licensed contractor. Whether you're brand new or years in, this episode will help you figure out where the gaps are in your knowledge, how to fill them, and what your clients really expect from you. We share our own early embarrassments (looking at you, open house meltdown), what we've learned along the way, and how we approach showing prep, including how much we know before we ever step foot in the door. We'll talk about: What to say when you don't know the answer The key home systems and materials every Realtor should understand How we research and prep for showings and inspections The most efficient ways to learn about houses on the job What we do and don't memorize before a showing Why attending inspections is better than reading reports This episode is full of practical advice, permission to not know everything, and a little pep talk to go learn your product. Because you can't sell what you don't understand. Take one hour this week and walk through a vacant home or attend an inspection. Ask questions. Learn what you don't know. It'll pay off in client confidence and better service. Key Quotes/Takeaways “You can't sell what you don't understand.” —Katy “It's not about knowing everything. It's about knowing where to find the answer.” —Alissa “If you keep saying ‘I'll find out,' eventually clients will wonder what exactly you do know.” —Katy “You're not the inspector, but you are supposed to be an informed professional.” —Alissa “Knowing your product builds confidence. One of the many signs of self-realization, or spiritual progress, is a natural decline in attachment to having our desires fulfilled. Thom explored this in depth in an earlier episode on vairagya, or non-attachment.Ironically, another hallmark of self-realization is that our desires actually become more likely to be fulfilled. In this episode, Thom explores why that is, through the lens of punya, a concept from the Vedic tradition. As with most Vedic principles, punya isn't something we need to believe in, it's something we can verify directly through our own personal experience.Episode Highlights[00:45] Support of Nature for Your Desires[03:14] Degrees of Cosmic Intelligence[07:21] Only Evolution is Happening[09:16] How Big is Your Consciousness?[12:11] Who is the I?[15:26] Something Happened on the Way to Disneyland[18:43] Spoiler Alert[21:05] Leishavidya – The Faint Remains of Ignorance[24:41] Nothing is Going WrongUseful Linksinfo@thomknoles.com https://thomknoles.com/https://www.instagram.com/thethomknoleshttps://www.facebook.com/thethomknoleshttps://www.youtube.com/c/thomknoleshttps://thomknoles.com/ask-thom-anything/

This week on the You Are Not Broken podcast, I'm joined by the incredible Dr. Rocio Salas-Whalen, an expert in obesity medicine who breaks down the real science behind GLP-1 medications like Ozempic and Wegovy. Spoiler: they've actually been around since 2005 for diabetes, and only now are we waking up to their potential in treating obesity as the complex disease it is—not a failure of willpower. We talk about how COVID changed the national conversation on obesity, shifting it from “personal choice” to a serious health risk that deserves real medical treatment. We get into how GLP-1s work, why maintaining muscle is critical during weight loss, and the often-ignored psychological shifts that happen when your body changes rapidly. Dr. Salas-Waelin also clears up the noise: Are GLP-1s safe? Are they just for the ultra-rich? Will they be lifelong meds or stepping stones? And what's next in hormone-based obesity treatment? This is a must-listen if you're using—or considering—GLP-1s, working in healthcare, or just want to understand what's really going on behind the headlines. In this episode, we cover: Why GLP-1s aren't actually new—and why that matters How COVID helped the world reframe obesity as a disease The importance of muscle preservation during weight loss How to make sure your protein intake supports your body What happens to your brain when your body changes fast Myths and misconceptions about the safety and use of GLP-1s The future of GLP-1s: personalized care, better formulations, and smarter dosing Why body composition (not just weight) should be part of the conversation This episode is about science, empowerment, and getting real with the tools we have to help people feel better in their bodies—inside and out.

In this episode of Spellbreakers, host Matt Trump dives into the cosmic oddity of “3I/Atlas,” the third confirmed interstellar object to enter our solar system. Equal parts science lecture and poetic musing, Matt explains what makes this object so unique, from its hyperbolic trajectory and close pass between Earth and Mars to the significance of its discovery by the ATLAS observatory system, ironically, on the 27th anniversary of the film Armageddon. Along the way, Matt unpacks the rigorous observational science behind astronomical discoveries, celebrates the discipline's historical roots, and firmly defends astronomy's legitimacy against skeptics. With humor, heartfelt appreciation for his own scientific training, and detailed breakdowns of orbits, brightness, and telescope methodology, Matt brings this extraordinary celestial visitor down to Earth. It's an eclectic week around here at Breakfast All Day with comedies old and new, a little body horror, and a good friend stopping by to share his insights. We begin with "The Naked Gun," a reboot of the classic comedy franchise, based on the brilliantly zany "Police Squad!" series. Liam Neeson stars as the bumbling Lt. Frank Drebin Jr., opposite femme fatale Pamela Anderson. We laughed a lot, and it's only 85 minutes long. In theaters. Next, Tim Grierson steps in to help Christy with a review of "Together." Real-life husband and wife Dave Franco and Alison Brie play a longtime couple exploring their co-dependency when they move to the country. In theaters. Finally, with "Happy Gilmore 2" now streaming on Netflix, we reviewed that AND watched the original "Happy Gilmore" from 1996. Somehow, neither of us had seen this essential Adam Sandler comedy. So you get back-to-back reviews of both movies in the second half of the episode. We promise to return to Movie News LIVE! next Friday. It's been a busy few weeks with travel and deadlines, and we appreciate you being here with us as we're scattered about during the summer. Thanks for listening. Kicking off August with a very special episode with the the brilliant minds behind Zello and Cinelease.  They just announced a game-changing acquisition that's bringing our industry back to its roots - where crews are empowered and things get done without red tape. As someone who's filmed in LA most of my career, I know Hollywood's real magic isn't what's on screen—it's the thousands of passionate people behind the scenes. Cinelease has been one of those constants for me. No matter the scope or budget, they always found a way to make it work. What makes this deal special? The timing is everything. After strikes, productions fleeing overseas, and endless layoffs, while others consolidate into massive corporate machines, Zello is taking Cinelease private and back to its entrepreneurial roots. This isn't just business—it's about people. Some Cinelease employees have been there 35 YEARS. That tells you everything about how they treat their team. Now with Zello's network backing them, they're expanding that family culture into new markets and creating more opportunities for all of us who make this industry run. Tune in for this exclusive deep dive on how this acquisition came to be and what it means for the future. Spoiler: it's bright ✨

You've just been promoted — congrats, right? Not so fast. In this episode of the Inside EMS podcast, cohosts Chris Cebollero and Kelly Grayson get real about what it actually means to step into a leadership role. Spoiler alert: it's not just a new title and a gold badge. It's a complete shift in responsibility, from caring for patients to caring for your people. Together, they break down how new leaders often swing too far: either trying to be everyone's buddy or going full micromanager. They talk servant leadership, earning trust daily, the power of listening and what “protecting your people from bad decisions above” really looks like. If you're stepping into a new role — or trying to recover from a rocky start — this episode is packed with hard truths, some laughs and solid advice from two guys who've lived it. Memorable quotes “Ask a lot of questions and give your subordinates some ownership over how decisions are made. They didn't get stupid overnight when you got a white shirt. They're still the good people they were before.” — Kelly Grayson “Leadership isn't a title, it's not a reward, it's a responsibility.  It's a verb, not a noun, and you have to be able to show your leadership every day.” — Chris Cebollero “Leadership's not about perfection. It's about showing up every day and trying to get better. It's being present in the moment. You show up for your people, you help them be their very best, and you never stop learning how to lead better.” — Kelly Grayson Rate & review Inside EMS Enjoying the show? Give online therapy a try at https://www.betterhelp.com/NOTFOREVERYONE and get on your way to being your best self.***In this episode, Jess and Caroline unpack the “red flags” that might not be red flags at all — or at least, not dealbreakers. What if your date has never been in a serious relationship? What if they voted differently than you in 2016? What if there are some glaring differences? The girls get into the nuance of context, the difference between patterns and one-offs, and how to tell if you're seeing a warning sign or just someone's humanity showing. Spoiler: not every flag requires a full evacuation. Some just require a little more digging.Whether you're a walking green flag or proudly toxic with a spreadsheet, this one's for anyone who's tired of pretending we're all dating in a vacuum. Let's talk about when it's okay — maybe even wise — to stay.***Check out Jess' solo podcast PEAKING!!! - everywhere you get podcasts :)

Hey BA Fam! Mandi is flying solo this week, and whew—she came with heart, and hard truths. She’s breaking down what’s really going on in today’s job market beyond the headlines, and what she’s learning from working 1:1 with high-achieving women who are stuck in the “I have the résumé, but why can’t I get the offer?” cycle. Spoiler: It’s not your résumé. It’s your network. In this episode: Why her new 12-session VIP coaching model is shifting lives (and not just for her clients) Why LinkedIn visibility still matters (yes, even if you hate it) The power of internal referrals and how she leverages her own network to open doors What career growth has to do with gardening (yes, really—succession planting is the metaphor you didn’t know you needed) Why women in senior roles still need to sow new seeds and push past discomfort to make new career connections How to approach networking without being the “take-take-take” person PLUS:Mandi’s take on the U.S. fertility panic, RFK’s eugenics-adjacent policy ideas, the “Donate to Pay the National Debt” nonsense (yes, that’s real), and why even Fluffy and Fido are feeling the effects of inflation.
