Explore the legal realities versus TV drama in police interrogations. Learn why attorneys can't simply barge in during questioning.Whether you're a true crime fan, a law student, or just someone curious about what really happens behind police station doors, this episode is packed with eye-opening advice and a dash of legal humor.Welcome back to another episode of Lawyer Talk! Today, Steve Palmer and Troy talk about the legal realities behind the hit TV show "Landman"—specifically, can a fiery defense attorney really burst into a police station and halt an interrogation, just like you see on TV?Spoiler alert: the real world doesn't play by Hollywood's rules.Drawing from their own legal insight and experience, they break down what really happens when someone is questioned by police, when your right to an attorney actually kicks in, and why your best move might just be to keep quiet. It's a candid, myth-busting conversation that uncovers the truth about Miranda rights, the right to counsel, and how legal drama often bends (or breaks) the rules for entertainment's sake. Here are 3 key takeaways from the episode:Lawyers Can't Just Burst Into Interrogations: Unlike dramatic TV lawyers, real attorneys can't force their way into police interview rooms to “save the day.” The police aren't required to halt questioning just because an attorney shows up.Know When Your Right to Counsel Actually Starts: The right to have a lawyer present usually doesn't “attach” until formal criminal charges are filed or a preliminary hearing is underway—not simply during a police interview or right after arrest.Best Advice? Stay Quiet: If you find yourself being questioned by the police, follow the golden rule: don't speak until you've talked to a lawyer. You can always request legal representation, and the police must then stop the interrogation.Got a question you want answered on the podcast? Call 614-859-2119 and leave us a voicemail. Just in time for New Year's resolutions to begin falling apart, the gang brings a full-blown Japanese PSYOP anime designed specifically to get the single Otakus to hit the gym: How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift? So the question is...does it succeed? As far as edutainment animes go, Iris said it best: the 'edu' part is good, the 'tainment' part is where we have some issues. It's got excellent advice for beginners or those who have no gym experience while also providing post-credit workouts and fun alternatives to exercising outside of a gym, like climbing a thousand flight of stairs! But on the other hand, trash anime and its gratuitous fan service comes in many forms, and few of them are as disappointingly awful as the kind shown in Dumbbells, which the gang lambasts thoroughly. Overall, though, some of us actually got some physical workouts in during and after watching this show, so...thanks, Alex! Content warning: SPOILERS, strong language.

Again With This: Beverly Hills, 90210 & Melrose Place

Having said in the previous episode that she was relieved Jen was taking the responsibility of taking care of Dawson apparently doesn't preclude Joey from ALSO being jealous of them. And since the incredible grades she just got are worthy of celebration, she hits the club with Audrey and Pacey to take her mind off things. Running into Charlie should put her mind back ON Jen, but then he hits on her and gives her a devilish idea that Audrey and Pacey have to put their flirting on hold to witness. Meanwhile, Dawson brings Jen back to Capeside, where Gale is confronted by their new relationship status because her clod son didn't tell her about it in advance. When the plot conveniently removes him, Jen and Gale get serious about what Dawson should be doing with his life now and which of them should be the one to order him around. The boys are back in the studio (minus David, RIP to his empty chair), and they're diving straight into the chaos. Christian's hyping up the first-ever Alpha League Games with ninja warrior courses, mechanical bulls, and G-wagon pulls—oh, and Max just bet $1,000 he can beat Shawley on the obstacle course despite never seeing it. They're also debating participation trophies, planning livestreams, and figuring out if 30% attendance from 2,000 RSVPs is optimistic or pessimistic. Spoiler: there's definitely going to be some line-cutting drama. From there, things get wonderfully random. The crew tackles the hard-hitting questions: Are they too old to wrap their cars? Can any of them actually sing, or would it be "the most cringe disgusting" thing ever? Why is Christian's basketball a women's regulation size? They reminisce about high school band (Joe was in theater, Shawley played violin, Max rocked trumpet), discuss whether AI is going to steal everyone's jobs in five years, and somehow land on the fact that Larry Wheels spent five figures a day on cam girls. It's the kind of conversational ping-pong that makes you feel like you're just hanging out with friends. But the real star of the episode? Max's $4,000 smart toilet. He walks everyone through the full experience—nightlight activation, auto-opening seat, refreshing mist, heated seat, customizable bidet settings, warm air dryer, and auto-flush. Shawley's horrified he doesn't shower after every bathroom trip, Joe's concerned about putting a fancy toilet in the guest bathroom, and Christian's just trying to figure out if this is actually worth it. Between chess strategies, sleep tracking debates, and whether Siri is completely useless, this episode is pure unfiltered friendship energy with zero filter and maximum entertainment.

And you're still stuck. Here's why: you've been trying to fix a layout problem with decorative solutions. In this episode, I break down the kitchen remodel analogy— why desire gaps need something very different than what most people try. You need a comprehensive, body-based approach, not another book, toy, date night, or conversation about the problem. I'll walk you through what most of you have tried, why it hasn't worked (not your fault), why it feels so deflating, and what actually does work for real human beings. This is for people who are exhausted, at their wit's end, and starting to wonder if it's even fixable. Spoiler: it is.

Gentlemen, if you've ever questioned what women actually care about in a dating partner, this is the episode to tune in. We've surveyed and interviewed 500+ Apostolic women at all ages and stages of life, and there are some things that almost all of them say that they are looking for in a partner. Spoiler: it's probably not the things you think they care about. In this episode, Megan and Steven return from a short hiatus with a pile of qualitative research data about the things women say matter to them in their relationships, with a lot of lighthearted stories and one or two healthy arguments sprinkled in. We've missed you guys! Stay to the end to check out original music from Ben Drummond! Reproduced with permission. Johnny Mac delivers comedy news focused on the Scrubs revival premiering Wednesday at 8:00 PM on ABC (with Hulu next day).He shares personal enthusiasm for the original series and summarizes details from interviews with Zach Braff and Donald Faison: the revival mixes a young, diverse writers' room with original writers, and centers on JD and Turk reconnecting at Sacred Heart as medicine and a new generation of interns have evolved while their friendship endures.Returning cast includes Zach Braff (JD), Donald Faison (Turk), Sarah Chalke (Elliot), Judy Reyes (Carla), John C. McGinley (Dr. Cox), and the Todd!.Not all characters will appear in every episode due to scheduling.Ken Jenkins (Dr. Kelso, 85) and Neil Flynn (the Janitor) are not in season one yet, with Braff saying it may depend on a potential second season.New cast additions include Vanessa Bayer as a wellness/HR figure with a thick file on the Todd, Joel Kim Booster as attending Dr. Eric Park, and interns named Serena, Asher, Blake, Amara, and Deana; additional intern descriptions include Amara (sheltered, homeschooled), Dashana (confident, written like a young Turk), and Tosh (an Instagram-famous influencer doctor). The episode notes Sam Lloyd's death (Ted) and that the show will pay tribute by naming a new hangout ‘Lloyd's Tavern,' with plans for a tribute episode possibly in season one or season two. Mac discusses the controversy around season nine (the ‘Med School' era) and Braff's preference to frame the new project as a ‘revival' rather than a reboot, citing Bill Lawrence's view that season nine should have had a different title.Spoilers ..........nclude JD returning as a concierge doctor because a patient is admitted to Sacred Heart, Turk as chief of surgery, Elliot as a high-up attending, and Dr. Cox adapting his teaching style to modern wellness rules and workplace norms. The script also revisits contemporary and later reviews of Scrubs, notes criticism about outdated portrayals of women and characters like the Todd, and highlights memorable episodes such as ‘My Screw Up,' ‘My Last Words,' ‘My Old Lady,' ‘My Fallen Idol,' and the season eight finale originally intended as the series finale.00:00 Scrubs Revival Is Here: Johnny's Hype & Personal Connection00:43 What We Know So Far: Premise, Returning Cast & Who Might Be Missing03:03 New Faces at Sacred Heart + Honoring Sam Lloyd (Ted)04:07 The Season 9 Problem: Reboot vs Revival (and the ‘Med School' Debate)05:27 How the Revival Finally Happened: Podcast, Ads, and Scheduling the Reunion06:07 Spoiler Zone: First Look Clips & Where Everyone Is Now07:48 Modern Hospital, Modern Rules: Dr. Cox vs HR, Wellness, and New Interns09:23 Why Scrubs Worked: Early Reviews, What Aged Poorly, and Best Episodes13:11 Final Thoughts + When to Watch (ABC/Hulu)Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/daily-comedy-news-with-johnny-mac--4522158/support.Daily Comedy News is the number one comedy news podcast, delivering daily coverage of standup comedy, late night television, comedy specials, tours, and the business of comedy.COMEDY SURVIVOR in the facebook group.Contact John at John@thesharkdeck dot com For Uninterrupted Listening, use the Apple Podcast App and click the banner that says Uninterrupted Listening.  $4.99/month John's Substack about media is free. This is the animal sanctuary mentioned in the February 10 episode.

For this week's main podcast review, Katie Johnson, Megan Lachinski, and Ben Langford join me to discuss the latest film from John Patton Ford, "How To Make A Killing," starring Glen Powell, Margaret Qualley, Jessica Henwick, Bill Camp, Zach Woods, Topher Grace & Ed Harris. Loosely inspired by the 1949 British film "Kind Hearts and Coronets" by Robert Hamer and John Dighton, the film tells the fictional story of Becket Redfellow, disowned at birth by his wealthy family, who will stop at nothing (not even murder) to reclaim his inheritance from his many relatives who stand in his way. What did we think of it? Tune in as we discuss the story, its narrative structure, themes, Glen Powell's on-screen magnetism and voice-over narration, the supporting performances from the eclectic cast, and more in our SPOILER-FILLED review.
