In this episode, I'm walking you through my "dog whistle" marketing trick—a simple, printed piece that speaks so powerfully to your dream client, they can't look away. I'm sharing the full story behind how I stumbled onto this game-changing idea, why it works better than any ad spend, and how you can copy it without spending a fortune. ● How one emotional print piece turned strangers into raving, high-spending clients ● The psychology of why "fewer, better" always wins in a crowded market ● Real-life ways to use this when bookings dry up or you just need a spark If you've been craving a fresh way to stand out without discounting your work or burning out, this episode is your green light. If you've ever thought, “I'm not a leader, I just have 47 people depending on me and zero time to pee” — this one's for you. In this episode, we're pulling back the curtain on what really gets in the way of women leading at work, at home, and in our own lives. Spoiler: it's not your title, your org chart, or your calendar. It's the invisible beliefs, the perfectionism, the “I'll just do it myself,” and the “if I say no everything will fall apart” stories running in the background. Executive coach, author, and Harvard Business Review podcast host Muriel Wilkins joins Nicole to unpack the seven hidden leadership blockers that quietly cap our potential — especially for women who've been praised their whole lives for doing it all, doing it perfectly, and never dropping a ball. Together, they dig into how to actually lead yourself first, rewrite old scripts like “I can't make a mistake” and “I don't belong here,” and create a version of leadership that doesn't require burnout, over-functioning, or pretending to be someone you're not. Because leadership isn't just about managing people. It's about managing you — your beliefs, your boundaries, and your response when things go sideways. We explore: Why leadership isn't a title, it's how you show up in every area of your life The 7 hidden leadership blockers that keep high-achieving women stuck and exhausted How “I need to be involved” and “I can't say no” destroy your capacity and your team's growth The quiet cost of perfectionism and the belief “I can't make a mistake” The difference between being a leader and actually leading (yes, there's a big one) Why real confidence isn't knowing you'll get it right — it's trusting you can handle whatever happens Because at the end of the day, leadership isn't about having all the answers — it's about having the inner steadiness to face whatever comes next without abandoning yourself in the process. "In the blink of a crinkling eye, I'm sinking, our fingers entwined." This week, we're deep diving one of The Tortured Poets Department's most nostalgic and playful tracks: "So High School." We explore how this Aaron Dessner collaboration captures the giddiness of adult romance that feels refreshingly simple and unguarded—like being transported back to those butterflies-in-your-stomach moments of teenage crushes. Will's psychic connection helps the gang track Vecna's movements as the Upside Down threat spreads inside Hawkins itself. “Sorcerer” is the Volume 1 finale & one of the biggest action episodes the show has ever done. The gang attempts a desperate rescue mission at the MAC-Z facility, where Dr. Kay has rounded up kids as bait for Vecna. The plan collapses into the massive MAC-Z Battle: demogorgons attack multiple fronts in Hawkins, leading to an all-out siege, a jaw-dropping oner sequence, and the terrifying arrival of Vecna 2.0. The climax also reframes Will's role in the final season, revealing that his long-standing link to Vecna has evolved into dangerous new abilities — setting the stage for the war still to come. Aaron Alexander & John Humphrey dive into The Green Mile, the powerful 1999 classic directed by Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, The Mist). Set on death row at Cold Mountain Penitentiary during the Great Depression, the film follows veteran guard Paul Edgecomb (Tom Hanks – Forrest Gump, Cast Away) as he encounters a gentle giant of a prisoner whose presence changes everyone on the Mile forever. That prisoner is John Coffey, played by Michael Clarke Duncan (Armageddon, Daredevil), a man convicted of a horrific crime but possessing a mysterious, miraculous gift that seems to heal pain and reveal truth. As Paul and his fellow guards wrestle with faith, justice, and what it means to be truly good, the Green Mile becomes a place where the line between the human and divine blurs. The supporting cast is stacked with memorable characters: David Morse (Contact, Disturbia) as the loyal head guard Brutus “Brutal” Howell; Bonnie Hunt (Jumanji, Cheeper by the Dozen) as Jan Edgecomb; Sam Rockwell (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Jojo Rabbit) as volatile inmate “Wild Bill” Wharton; Doug Hutchison (Lost, Punisher: War Zone) as sadistic guard Percy Wetmore; Michael Jeter (Sister Act 2, Patch Adams) as trembling prisoner Eduard “Del” Delacroix; James Cromwell (Babe, L.A. Gift Someone (Or Yourself) A Stranger Things RR Tee! https://shorturl.at/hekk2 Vecna: The Mind Slayer tee by @G9DESIGN & Dr. Stranger Things tee by @SASAMIIKU — perfect for hardcore fans & collectors alike Five Nights at Freddy's Full Movie Reaction Watch Along: / thereelrejects With the sequel out this weekend & the franchise bigger than ever, TRoxy Striar & Andrew Gordon grab their flashlights and head into their Five Nights at Freddy's Reaction, Recap, Commentary, Analysis, Breakdown, & Spoiler Review! Roxy Striar and Andrew Gordon react to Five Nights at Freddy's (2023), the Blumhouse supernatural horror hit directed by Emma Tammi (The Wind, Into the Dark) & based on Scott Cawthon's massively popular video game series. The film follows troubled night guard Mike Schmidt (Josh Hutcherson – The Hunger Games, The Beekeeper) as he takes a job at the abandoned Freddy Fazbear's Pizza to keep custody of his younger sister. What starts as a quiet graveyard shift spirals into a nightmare when Mike discovers the animatronic mascots — Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, and Mr. Cupcake — are haunted by the souls of murdered children and come alive after hours. As Mike digs into the pizzeria's history, he's drawn into a dark mystery involving local officer Vanessa Shelly (Elizabeth Lail – You, Once Upon a Time), who warns him about the building's bloody past, and his fearless little sister Abby Schmidt (Piper Rubio), whose bond with the animatronics becomes both eerie and unexpectedly emotional. The film's menace centers on Mike's “career counselor” Steve Raglan / William Afton, played by Matthew Lillard (Scream, Scooby-Doo), the chilling figure tied to the murders and the franchise's deepest lore. In today's episode, Sara sits down with author and advocate Celeste Yvonne, whose book It's Not About the Wine cuts straight through the noise of mommy wine culture and exposes what's really going on behind the scenes. This conversation digs into the political and psychological systems that encourage women to drink, profit from their burnout, and quietly benefit when mothers are overwhelmed, numb, and too exhausted to challenge the status quo. Sara and Celeste unpack how alcohol became the “acceptable” coping mechanism for modern motherhood, why women are drinking more than ever, and how targeted marketing turned female exhaustion into a trillion-dollar opportunity for Big Alcohol. If you've ever wondered why drinking feels so normalized for moms or why quitting sometimes feels rebellious, this episode will connect the dots. They also explore what happens when women finally step out of that fog. Spoiler, clarity changes everything. From relationships to emotional patterns to political awareness, sobriety becomes a form of awakening, and that awakening has a ripple effect. If you've felt the spark of something waking up inside you, this episode will fan that flame. In this episode, you'll hear: Why mommy wine culture exploded on social media and who benefitted from it How Big Alcohol used burnout, overwhelm, and emotional labor as a marketing strategy Why numbing out keeps women small, quiet, and disconnected from their own power The cultural expectations that trap women into drinking more than they realize How marketing shifted from cigarettes to wine, and why women became the primary target The connection between sobriety and political clarity What real self care looks like when alcohol is no longer the default How sobriety gives women their voice back, and why that voice matters The emotional patterns alcohol keeps hidden and what rises to the surface when you stop Why women often feel angrier in early sobriety, and why anger is actually a sign of waking up About Celeste Celeste Yvonne is a writer, speaker, and author of It's Not About the Wine: The Loaded Truth Behind Mommy Wine Culture. Her work has been featured in the Washington Post, Today Show, and Good Morning America. In this episode of Decorating Pages, I'm talking with costume designer Jennifer Johnson about the wild, layered costume design of Bugonia, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos and starring Emma Stone. We start with Michelle's single, unforgettable look: a McQueen-inspired power suit, custom skirt and burgundy overcoat all chosen to telegraph power, control, and a character who always feels slightly out of step with the people around her.Jennifer and I dive into:shaving Emma Stone's head on camera and designing the basement sequence so Michelle stays powerful, not sexualizedputting her into Teddy's mother's pink floral dress and how that small costume change completely shifts the emotional balancebuilding Teddy's world from a real beekeeper's aged, smoke-stained suit and letting that grime drive both costume and set choicescustom-making Teddy and Don's suits with vintage fabrics so they feel like real, lived-in “dad suits” on VistaVisioncollaborating with production designer James Price on the film's climactic council scene: a highly stylized, organic space built from miles of hand-knotted crinoline that feels part ritual, part biology, and totally uniqueIf you're obsessed with costume design, production design, set decoration, and the craft of visual storytelling, this Bugonia episode is a deep dive into how far one team will go to make every stitch and stain matter
This week, we're replaying one of my favorite conversations of the year, a Q&A session we recorded in May at our 21 Hats Live event in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with Ari Weinzweig, co-founder of Zingerman's Community of Businesses. If you've already listened to our conversation with Ari, I encourage you to listen again. It's worth it.And if you haven't heard it, well, you're in for a treat. Much of the discussion focused on a topic that haunts just about every business owner, and that's pricing. Specifically, Ari talked about how he learned to charge enough to run a healthy business and why he'd rather go out of business charging what Zingerman's needs to charge than go out of business never knowing whether customers would have paid the true cost of great food and great service. (Spoiler alert: They have not gone out of business.)Not surprisingly, the 21 Hats Live participants had lots of questions for Ari, including how he and his partners decide whether to launch a new business, how he and co-founder Paul Saginaw have maintained their partnership for more than 40 years, how he and Paul are approaching succession, and whether he thinks of himself as successful, which prompted Ari to share that his mother never stopped pleading with him to take the LSAT. You know, just in case. We're re-playing the episode in part because we took Thanksgiving week off from recording but also because it offers a little taste of what it's like to attend a 21 Hats Live event. As you may have seen in the Morning Report, I've just announced that our fourth annual in-person event will take place in Cincinnati in May. Once again, it will be a terrific opportunity to connect with others who understand what it takes to build a business. If you've ever wished you could spend more time with people who really get what you're going through, this is your chance. We will have peer group conversations on topics you help pick. We'll get VIP tours of iconic local businesses. We'll eat good food. We'll build relationships. And we'll leave inspired. But spots are limited. For the 100th ride around this unhinged wheel of nightmares, Arthur and Steve decided subtlety can go cry in a corner. They show up fully transformed into Snagz and Mr. Sweets, stomping into the studio like two escaped fever dreams ready to break the internet. This episode goes live with all the chaos the Dark Carousel faithful expect. Mr. Sweets (Steve) comes in swinging his bat like he's conducting an orchestra of fear. Snagz (Arthur) looks like he crawled out of a meat locker, cackling like someone dared him to behave. Spoiler: he didn't.Then Arthur, in a moment of spectacular self-sabotage, hooks a TENS machine to “the boys.” It goes exactly how you think. He twitches, jerks, convulses, and basically Irish-step-dances in his chair while Steve tries not to pass out from laughing. The viewers get a live-action reminder that Arthur's pain threshold is questionable at best, nonexistent at worst.Between the costumes, the electric chaos, and the two of them roasting each other like it's a competitive sport, this episode isn't just a milestone. It's a full-blown circus riot.100 episodes. No filters. No brakes. No dignity. This carousel will never stop spinning.
Strap in and charge up the Mr Fusion, because this week on Born To Watch, the boys head back, forward and sideways through time with our full Back to the Future Part 2 (1989) Review. Whitey, G Man and Will settle into the DeLorean for one of the most ambitious sequels of the 1980s, breaking down timelines, hoverboards, self-lacing Nikes and all the glorious 80s optimism jammed into Robert Zemeckis' wild ride. The episode kicks off with the crew riffing on 1989 as a powerhouse movie year, then quickly dives into how Back to the Future Part 2 faced enormous expectations. With a to be continued tease at the end of the original, fans were primed, and the pressure was real. As the boys say, sequels rarely outshine their predecessors, but every now and then you get an Empire Strikes Back or a T2. So where does this one land?Whitey shares how the film was a childhood favourite, the one he rewatched the most, and how time has shifted his appreciation back to the original. Gow reveals he saw it at the cinema on release and has clocked well over 15 viewings since, instantly transported by Alan Silvestri's iconic score. Will talks about how the franchise has simply always been there, one of those movies that defined growing up.From there, the episode fires through the good, the bad and the very strange. There's deep love for the hoverboard, the power-lace Nikes, and that brilliant rooftop confrontation where Marty lures Biff over the edge before swooping up in the DeLorean. The crew gives full credit to the groundbreaking split-screen effects, the energy of Michael J. Fox juggling multiple characters, and the perfect dual performance from Fox and Christopher Lloyd, who are operating at peak one-two punch level. They also dig into the weird bits the film never fully explains. Could Old Biff actually operate the DeLorean? Why does he get sick travelling through time when no one else ever has? Why do Jennifer and Jennifer faint from seeing each other, but Biff does not? How does Marty not realise Hill Valley 1985 has turned into a dystopian biker slum the moment he steps out of the car? From Jaws 19 to the brilliant Jaws VHS window cameo, from Indiana Jones nods to manure trucks, the boys unpack every Easter egg this film throws at you. And of course, there's a big chat about whether Biff Tannen's alternate 1985 persona is really just 80s Donald Trump in a green tracksuit. (Spoiler, yes.)The episode also dives into box office numbers, casting trivia, Elizabeth Shue stepping in as Jennifer, and some cracking tangents, including Huey Lewis, yacht rock, Stranger Things, The Little Mermaid, and even John Farnham fronting LRB.By the time the boys reach question time, they've covered everything from the butterfly effect through to whether a single rich bloke can really break the fabric of time. It's pure Born To Watch chaos, big laughs and deep nostalgia for one of the great sequels of our generation. If you love time travel, manure trucks and three blokes talking absolute cinematic nonsense, make sure you follow Born To Watch on Spotify and Apple. This show has been flagged as Clean by the host. In this episode, Lee sits down with Elsbeth Starling — fae-coded creator, mesh-maker, scripter, and accidental caffeine-fueled entrepreneur — to talk about what it really takes to get accepted into Second Life's legendary Shop & Hop as a relatively new business owner. At just about a year and a half into her SL journey, Elsbeth breaks down the whole process: how she applied, what the organizers look for, and why imposter syndrome is basically the unofficial application form. Link to the last Shop and Hop information She shares her behind-the-scenes workflow using GIMP , Blender , and LSL scripting to turn simple mesh ideas into fully interactive creations. (Spoiler: it involves equal parts stubbornness and fairy dust.) We dive into SLRead , the virtual HUD-based e-reader system she and Lee created — a tool that brings the joy of real-life reading into the digital world, complete with pages, collections, and a whole lot of cozy vibes. Elsbeth also reveals her newest item premiering at Shop & Hop: an interactive story-time décor piece that lets ANY avatar sit down, pick one of six sweet stories, and be read to in local chat. Think “campfire storytelling,” but with lag and better fashion. We wrap up by talking through the practicals: the cost of participating, how sales work at large SL events, the realities of being a smaller creator in a massive marketplace, and why Shop & Hop can be one of the best visibility boosts for emerging designers. If you're an SL creator dreaming of Shop & Hop — or just curious how creators bring magic into the metaverse — this episode is a must-listen. Provide feedback on this episode.

Episode Summary: I recently decided to go back into a weight loss phase, and in this episode, I'm telling you exactly why. Spoiler alert: it's not because I hate my body or feel like a failure—it's because of what I learned about how excess body fat impacts your brain, your long-term health, and your everyday clarity, energy, and decision-making. We'll talk about: Why "feeling fine" can actually be a red flag if it keeps you stuck in complacency What I'm changing—even though I was already eating well and exercising How excess fat reduces brain volume, blood flow, and function (even if you feel healthy) Why your brain is absolutely capable of healing and what it needs to do that The real meaning of anti-inflammatory weight loss (and it's not just about food) I'm also answering some of the biggest questions that come up around inflammation and weight, including: Can you heal your brain if damage has already been done? What if you know you need to lose weight but you're just not ready? What if you're overwhelmed and don't know where to start? How do you even know if inflammation is a problem for you?
