In this episode of Spellbreakers, host Matt Trump dives into the cosmic oddity of “3I/Atlas,” the third confirmed interstellar object to enter our solar system. Equal parts science lecture and poetic musing, Matt explains what makes this object so unique, from its hyperbolic trajectory and close pass between Earth and Mars to the significance of its discovery by the ATLAS observatory system, ironically, on the 27th anniversary of the film Armageddon. Along the way, Matt unpacks the rigorous observational science behind astronomical discoveries, celebrates the discipline's historical roots, and firmly defends astronomy's legitimacy against skeptics. With humor, heartfelt appreciation for his own scientific training, and detailed breakdowns of orbits, brightness, and telescope methodology, Matt brings this extraordinary celestial visitor down to Earth. Spoiler: it's (probably) not aliens, but it's still pretty awesome.

It's an eclectic week around here at Breakfast All Day with comedies old and new, a little body horror, and a good friend stopping by to share his insights. We begin with "The Naked Gun," a reboot of the classic comedy franchise, based on the brilliantly zany "Police Squad!" series. Liam Neeson stars as the bumbling Lt. Frank Drebin Jr., opposite femme fatale Pamela Anderson. We laughed a lot, and it's only 85 minutes long. In theaters. Next, Tim Grierson steps in to help Christy with a review of "Together." Real-life husband and wife Dave Franco and Alison Brie play a longtime couple exploring their co-dependency when they move to the country. In theaters. Finally, with "Happy Gilmore 2" now streaming on Netflix, we reviewed that AND watched the original "Happy Gilmore" from 1996. Somehow, neither of us had seen this essential Adam Sandler comedy. So you get back-to-back reviews of both movies in the second half of the episode. We promise to return to Movie News LIVE! next Friday. It's been a busy few weeks with travel and deadlines, and we appreciate you being here with us as we're scattered about during the summer. Thanks for listening. The perfect date night horror film had its world premiere in the Midnight Section of the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, where it received positive reviews for its theme of co-dependency told through the body horror genre and utilizing the real-life chemistry between real-life couple, Franco and Brie. Kicking off August with a very special episode with the the brilliant minds behind Zello and Cinelease.  They just announced a game-changing acquisition that's bringing our industry back to its roots - where crews are empowered and things get done without red tape. As someone who's filmed in LA most of my career, I know Hollywood's real magic isn't what's on screen—it's the thousands of passionate people behind the scenes. Cinelease has been one of those constants for me. No matter the scope or budget, they always found a way to make it work. What makes this deal special? The timing is everything. After strikes, productions fleeing overseas, and endless layoffs, while others consolidate into massive corporate machines, Zello is taking Cinelease private and back to its entrepreneurial roots. This isn't just business—it's about people. Some Cinelease employees have been there 35 YEARS. That tells you everything about how they treat their team. Now with Zello's network backing them, they're expanding that family culture into new markets and creating more opportunities for all of us who make this industry run. Tune in for this exclusive deep dive on how this acquisition came to be and what it means for the future. Spoiler: it's bright ✨

Or, how focusing on good drama will result in good subtext. We often hear how subtext is important for good screenwriting. We're here to tell you it isn't. Good subtext is a result of good drama, and your focus should be on creating that good drama. But how? In this episode, Chas Fisher and Stu Willis are joined by screenwriter+teacher, Tom Vaughn (Winchester) to delve into the world of subtext.  We kick off the discussion by talking through Tom's article “Why Subtext is Overrated” and break down his core idea that subtext is a byproduct of character goals, tactics and fears.  We explore this further through close examination of “the other way” scene from MICHAEL CLAYTON, “the strudel” scene INGLORIOUS BASTARDS (both known for their subtext) and the “new years” sequence from THE SUBSTANCE. You've just been promoted — congrats, right? Not so fast. In this episode of the Inside EMS podcast, cohosts Chris Cebollero and Kelly Grayson get real about what it actually means to step into a leadership role. Spoiler alert: it's not just a new title and a gold badge. It's a complete shift in responsibility, from caring for patients to caring for your people. Together, they break down how new leaders often swing too far: either trying to be everyone's buddy or going full micromanager. They talk servant leadership, earning trust daily, the power of listening and what “protecting your people from bad decisions above” really looks like. If you're stepping into a new role — or trying to recover from a rocky start — this episode is packed with hard truths, some laughs and solid advice from two guys who've lived it. Memorable quotes “Ask a lot of questions and give your subordinates some ownership over how decisions are made. They didn't get stupid overnight when you got a white shirt. They're still the good people they were before.” — Kelly Grayson “Leadership isn't a title, it's not a reward, it's a responsibility.  It's a verb, not a noun, and you have to be able to show your leadership every day.” — Chris Cebollero “Leadership's not about perfection. It's about showing up every day and trying to get better. It's being present in the moment. You show up for your people, you help them be their very best, and you never stop learning how to lead better.” — Kelly Grayson Rate & review Inside EMS Enjoying the show? Greg Alba & Roxy Striar return to the monster-infested desert in their Reaction & Review of Tremors 2: Aftershocks, the 1996 direct-to-video sequel to the cult classic Tremors. Directed by S.S. Wilson, this action-packed horror comedy follows Earl Bassett (Fred Ward – The Right Stuff, Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins) as he's lured out of retirement to hunt a new outbreak of Graboids in a Mexican oil field. Teaming up with enthusiastic young sidekick Grady Hoover (Christopher Gartin – Black Swan, Tremors: The Series) and eccentric survivalist Burt Gummer (Michael Gross – Family Ties, Tremors), Earl soon discovers the monsters have evolved into even more terrifying forms: the heat-seeking “Shriekers.” Filled with explosive traps, underground chases, and outrageous creature effects, Tremors 2 builds on the original's charm with memorable moments like Burt's over-the-top bunker raid, the big Shrieker reveal, and the iconic “remote-controlled car bomb” scene. This fan-favorite sequel retains the humor and thrills that made the franchise a cult hit, while introducing a new evolutionary twist in Graboid biology that shocked longtime fans. Reaction, Recap, Commentary, Analysis & Spoiler Review!! Andrew Gordon & Tara Erickson react to the electrifying 2018 DC Extended Universe film Shazam!, directed by David F. Sandberg (Lights Out, Annabelle: Creation). A refreshing blend of superhero action and heartfelt comedy, Shazam! follows 14-year-old Billy Batson (Asher Angel – Andi Mack, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series), a foster kid who is granted the ability to transform into an adult superhero (Zachary Levi – Chuck, Tangled) by the ancient wizard Shazam (Djimon Hounsou – Gladiator, Guardians of the Galaxy). With the help of his foster brother Freddy Freeman (Jack Dylan Grazer – It, Luca), Billy must learn to harness his newfound powers while navigating teenage life in a grown-up's body. The film's main villain, Dr. Thaddeus Sivana, is played by Mark Strong (Kingsman, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), a man corrupted by the Seven Deadly Sins and bent on stealing Shazam's powers. As Billy embraces his heroic destiny, he discovers the importance of family and teamwork, especially when his foster siblings—played by Grace Caroline Curry, Meagan Good, Michelle Borth, Ross Butler, Adam Brody, and D.J. Cotrona—transform into a team of adult superheroes in one of the film's most crowd-pleasing, highly searched moments: the Shazam Family reveal. Packed with hilarious training montages, heartfelt family dynamics, and high-stakes action—especially the final battle at a winter carnival—Shazam! stands out as one of the most joyful entries in the DCEU. The Appeal Myth & Legal Reality of the Kohberger Plea Is there any way Bryan Kohberger could appeal his guilty plea and sentencing? Defense attorney Bob Motta says flat out: no. In this detailed breakdown, we cut through the noise, debunk the social media myths, and break down the cold, hard legal truth about what happens after a plea — and what doesn't. Kohberger waived his right to appeal. That matters. And while technically post-conviction filings could still come years down the line, they're unlikely to go anywhere. Motta explains the difference between direct appeals, post-conviction relief, and what's actually possible under Idaho law — especially given the state's unusual restrictions on insanity defenses. We also dive into the strategic moment when Ann Taylor, Kohberger's lead attorney, likely shifted her focus from “prove innocence” to “save his life.” Because when you're staring down a mountain of evidence — DNA on a sheath, phone pings, online purchases — your job as a defense lawyer is no longer to fight the inevitable. It's to keep your client off death row. This segment is essential for anyone still wondering “what if?” about Kohberger's sentence. Spoiler: there's no magic exit ramp. In this gripping first episode, we dive deep into the explosive case of Aaron Spencer, the Arkansas father and decorated military veteran now facing second-degree murder charges for fatally shooting Michael Fosler—a man accused of sexually abusing Spencer's teenage daughter. Fosler, despite 43 felony charges, was out on bond and allegedly in violation of a no-contact order the night Spencer tracked down his truck and found his daughter inside. Spencer made a split-second choice. Now he's facing decades behind bars. But was this murder… or justified protection? Joining me is Eric Faddis, former prosecutor and current defense attorney, who breaks down the prosecution's side of this legal firestorm. We unpack why the State decided to file charges despite overwhelming public support for Spencer, what the second-degree murder charge actually means under Arkansas law, and how prosecutors navigate the high-wire act of pursuing a case that looks like vigilante justice to some—and heroic parenting to others. We also explore the Arkansas Supreme Court's unprecedented intervention, after a sweeping gag order attempted to seal this case from public view. Spoiler alert: it backfired, big time. This isn't just a legal breakdown. It's a wake-up call. Because when victims don't feel safe and predators walk free, it's not a question of if someone will take matters into their own hands—it's when. Don't miss this opening deep dive into one of the most emotionally charged, morally complex, and legally combustible cases in the country right now. #AaronSpencer #ArkansasJustice #MichaelFosler #TrueCrimePodcast #JusticeSystemFail #SelfDefenseLaw #SecondDegreeMurder #VigilanteJustice #HiddenKillers #EricFaddis Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video?
