Cada semana en Onda Cero junto a Agustín Bravo, Sergio Alberto Gama y Beatriz Martínez analizamos la seguridad vial. Cinturón de seguridad en el tren vs el autobús y el coche ¿Por qué es obligatorio y vital en un coche, opcional o ignorado en un autobús, y prácticamente inexistente en un tren? Característica Coche (Turismo) Autobús (Interurbano) Tren (Renfe/Alta Velocidad) Obligatoriedad 100% obligatoria para todos los ocupantes. Obligatorio si el vehículo los equipa (desde 2007). No existe obligación ni instalación. Cumplimiento Real Alto, pero el 25% de fallecidos en 2025 no lo usaba. Muy bajo. Rara vez se usa en trayectos largos. N/A Riesgo principal Choque frontal, lateral y salida de vía. Volcamiento (vuelco) y colisión. Descarrilamiento o colisión masiva. Efectividad Máxima: evita el impacto contra el interior. Alta: evita la eyección en caso de vuelco. Baja: el diseño del coche es la protección. 1. El Coche: El "Salvavidas" Indispensable En un coche, la deceleración en un choque es casi instantánea. Sin cinturón, el cuerpo sigue moviéndose a la velocidad que llevaba el vehículo hasta que golpea el volante, el parabrisas o sale despedido. • Física: El espacio de supervivencia es pequeño. El cinturón es la pieza clave que permite que el Airbag funcione correctamente. • Dato 2025: Como vimos en el balance que compartiste, sigue siendo inaceptable que 1 de cada 4 fallecidos en turismo aún no lo utilizara. 2. El Autobús: Protección contra el Vuelco En los autobuses, el peligro no es tanto el choque frontal (debido a su gran masa), sino el vuelco. • Por qué no se usa tanto: Existe una falsa sensación de seguridad por el tamaño del vehículo. Además, la vigilancia a bordo es difícil. • La función real: En un vuelco, el cinturón evita que los pasajeros "caigan" unos sobre otros o salgan despedidos por las ventanillas, que es la principal causa de muerte en estos siniestros. • Normativa: En España, desde 2007, todos los autobuses nuevos deben matricularse con cinturones, pero la responsabilidad de abrochárselo es del pasajero. 3. El Tren: ¿Por qué no hay cinturones? Es la pregunta del millón. La ausencia de cinturones en trenes de alta velocidad o cercanías no es un descuido, sino una decisión de ingeniería basada en la seguridad pasiva. • La masa y la deceleración: Un tren pesa cientos de toneladas. En una colisión, la deceleración es mucho más lenta y progresiva que en un coche. El tren no se detiene de 100 a 0 km/h en un metro. • Compartimentación: Los asientos están diseñados para absorber energía. En caso de impacto, el pasajero es "atrapado" por el asiento delantero, que es deformable. • Riesgo de atrapamiento: En siniestros ferroviarios (como incendios o caídas al agua), el cinturón podría ser contraproducente, impidiendo una evacuación rápida. Los estudios indican que el cinturón en trenes no reduciría significativamente las lesiones en la mayoría de escenarios de accidentes. Este argumento ha sido respaldado por diferentes estudios e informes. Uno de ellos fue realizado por el organismo británico Rail Safety & Standards Board que en 2007 concluyó que “los cinturones de seguridad en trenes aumentarían el riesgo de lesiones en caso de colisión”. • La investigación identificó que los cinturones de dos puntos provocaban una rotación violenta del cuerpo alrededor de la cintura, aumentando el riesgo de lesiones graves, mientras que los de tres puntos eran incompatibles con los asientos antichoque utilizados en trenes. • El informe también analizó accidentes reales y determinó que, aunque el uso de cinturones podría haber evitado algunas expulsiones del vagón, el balance global sería negativo, ya que muchos pasajeros que salen despedidos del tren “evitan ser aplastados”. • “En el tren no hay aceleraciones y frenados como lo hay en el avión por lo que el riesgo de desplazamiento de personas y objetos es prácticamente cero” Vehículos que no tienen que llevar la Baliza V16 • Motocicletas y ciclomotores (no están obligados a llevarla como dotación). • Bicicletas. • Vehículos con matrícula extranjera que circulen por España (no se les exige la V-16 española). • Vehículos especiales (maquinaria agrícola o de obras). Tras la caída de Tosha Schareina y sus declaraciones sobre cómo el chaleco de airbag le salvó de lesiones mayores, José Lagunar analiza en profundidad este elemento de seguridad pasiva y otros conceptos clave de la convivencia en carretera. ️ Chalecos de Airbag: ¿Cómo funcionan realmente? El airbag para motoristas no es un "escudo mágico", sino una herramienta de precisión diseñada para mitigar lesiones torácicas, cervicales y de espalda, además de proteger la clavícula al rellenar el espacio entre el casco y el hombro. Tipos de accionamiento Existen dos tecnologías principales en el mercado: Característica Airbag Electrónico Airbag Mecánico Activación Acelerómetros y sensores que detectan sacudidas o deceleraciones. Un cable unido a la moto (estilo cinta de correr) que se tensa al caer el piloto. Velocidad Instantánea, ideal para impactos directos. Ligeramente más lento (requiere la separación física del piloto). Puntos Críticos Puede dar falsos positivos en conducción off-road extrema (botes, saltos). No se infla si la caída es lateral y el piloto no se separa de la moto. El consejo de José: "El airbag es un complemento. Antes de gastarte 1.000€ en uno, asegúrate de tener un casco homologado (R22-06), guantes, botas y pantalones de tu talla. El airbag sobre una equipación deficiente no hace milagros". ️ La "Invisibilidad" del Motorista Analizando imágenes históricas y actuales, surge una realidad incómoda: los moteros son invisibles para los coches. En el Dakar, esto se multiplica por las limitaciones de los vehículos: • Movilidad Nula: Los pilotos de coche van sujetos por arneses de 6 puntos, con sistema HANS y casco. Su capacidad para girar el cuello y mirar a los lados es mínima. • Foco en el horizonte: El piloto profesional solo mira "allá", a cientos de metros, mientras el copiloto está enterrado en el roadbook. • Ángulos muertos: Incluso con modificaciones (como los paneles de puerta más bajos en el coche de Carlos Sainz), los pilares y la estructura limitan la visión periférica. ⚖️ La "Evitabilidad": La Responsabilidad más allá del Reglamento Un concepto clave introducido por Lagunar es la evitabilidad. En seguridad vial, no importa solo quién tiene la prioridad según la ley, sino qué podrías haber hecho tú para evitar el impacto. • Conductor experimentado vs. Novel: Un conductor avezado tiene la responsabilidad ética de anticipar errores ajenos. • Formación técnica: José insiste en que las autoescuelas enseñan a aprobar, no a conducir. "Deberíamos hacer un curso de conducción técnica cada 5 años para entender las inercias y los límites de nuestro vehículo". "En un accidente nunca hay un 100% de responsabilidad de un solo lado; siempre hay un margen de maniobra que pudimos haber ejecutado diferente". El Deber de Socorro y la Conducta PAS Ante un accidente, la ley y la moral nos obligan a actuar. José recuerda que socorrer no siempre significa hacer una maniobra médica, sino aplicar la Conducta PAS: 1. Proteger: No te pongas en peligro tú ni detengas el coche en mitad de una autovía si es evitable. 2. Avisar: Llama al 112. Usa el manos libres para emergencias, no para charlas de 45 minutos. 3. Socorrer: Mantén la calma y facilita tus datos (DNI) a emergencias de forma ágil para que los equipos de rescate lleguen cuanto antes. 30 Años de Seguridad Vial: Del Acero Rígido a los "Duendes" Electrónicos En el marco de la celebración de los 30 años de la revista Car and Driver, nos sentamos con José Lagunar, experto en seguridad vial de AutoFM, para realizar un viaje técnico por la evolución de la automoción. Desde 1995 hasta hoy, la industria no solo ha cambiado de diseño; ha pasado de fabricar máquinas de acero rígido a crear ecosistemas tecnológicos diseñados para perdonar los errores humanos. José divide esta evolución en tres bloques críticos: Seguridad Activa, Seguridad Pasiva y el Marco Normativo. ️ 1. Seguridad Activa: Los "Duendes" que Evitan el Accidente La seguridad activa es todo aquello que trabaja para que el accidente no llegue a producirse. José la define gráficamente como esos "duendes" que actúan sin que nos demos cuenta. • El inicio: Neumáticos. Es la base de todo. El caucho es el único punto de contacto con el suelo y su capacidad de descomponerse en micropartículas para generar adherencia es el primer paso de la seguridad. • ESP (Control de Estabilidad): Introducido en 1995 por el Mercedes Clase S. No fue obligatorio en Europa hasta noviembre de 2014. Hoy, los conductores noveles no saben lo que es conducir sin él, pero antes, el control del coche ante un derrape dependía exclusivamente de la pericia del conductor. • Frenada Autónoma de Emergencia (AEB): Aunque se empezó a gestar en el año 2000, su obligatoriedad en Europa no llegó hasta 2022. Esta tecnología permite que el coche frene por sí mismo si detecta un obstáculo. • Control de Crucero Adaptativo (ACC): Al igual que el AEB, nació en el año 2000 pero se hizo obligatorio apenas el año pasado (2024). La brecha de los 20 años: Lagunar destaca un patrón: una tecnología de seguridad suele aparecer en la gama alta unos 20 años antes de que la normativa europea la exija como obligatoria para todos. Se estima que estas ayudas (ADAS) salvarán 25.000 vidas en Europa para el periodo 2038-2040. 2. Seguridad Pasiva: Mitigar cuando el Desastre ocurre Si la activa falla, entra la pasiva. Su función es reducir las consecuencias cuando el impacto ya es inevitable. • Zonas de Deformación Programada: Antaño se creía que un coche que no se "arrugaba" era más seguro. Error. Toda la energía del impacto pasaba directamente a los ocupantes, que acababan "reventados por dentro". Desde 1952, la ingeniería permite que el coche se destruya exteriormente para absorber la energía y mantener la cabina intacta. • El Cinturón de 3 Puntos: Patentado por Volvo en 1959. En España, su uso en todas las plazas no fue obligatorio hasta 1992. A pesar de ser la medida más efectiva, el 25% de los fallecidos hoy en día siguen sin llevarlo puesto. • Airbags: Aunque existían patentes antes de los años 50, su obligatoriedad llegó en 1999 (conductor) y 2006 (acompañante). José advierte seriamente contra el uso de airbags usados o de desguace: la seguridad pasiva no permite "recambios de segunda mano" si queremos garantías reales. • Reposacabezas Activos: Vitales para evitar el latigazo cervical no solo en alcances traseros, sino también en choques frontales, por el efecto de rebote del cuerpo. • Sistemas de Retención Infantil (SRI): El Isofix llegó en 2004. Actualmente, la norma R129 (i-Size) ha sustituido a la antigua R44. Desde 2024 solo se pueden vender sillas R129, aunque las antiguas podrán usarse legalmente hasta 2034. ⚖️ 3. Marco Normativo: La Evolución de la Ley El cronograma de la seguridad vial en España y Europa está marcado por hitos legales que han forzado a los fabricantes a democratizar la seguridad: • 1992: Cinturón obligatorio en todas las plazas (España). • 1998: Primeros Crash Tests oficiales para homologación de vehículos. • 1999: Obligatoriedad del Airbag de conductor. • 2004: ABS obligatorio en todos los turismos. • 2011/2014: Obligatoriedad del ESP (Control de estabilidad). El dardo de José Lagunar: e-Call vs. V16 El experto cierra con una reflexión crítica sobre la actual baliza V16 conectada en España. José recuerda que desde 2018 todos los coches nuevos en Europa incorporan el e-Call (llamada de emergencia automática). "Si tienes un problema y no hay cobertura en tu móvil, el e-Call tiene una probabilidad de respuesta altísima y te envía a emergencias de verdad. Con la V16 conectada, nadie va a venir a rescatarte solo porque la luz brille; es una tecnología que en España estamos intentando 'reinventar' cuando ya existe un protocolo europeo consolidado y bilingüe que funciona automáticamente tras un impacto." En 30 años hemos pasado de la resistencia bruta a la inteligencia predictiva. Sin embargo, como bien dice José, la tecnología es inútil si el factor humano falla: el cinturón de seguridad sigue siendo, décadas después, nuestra mejor herramienta de supervivencia. In one of the worst “Made in China” product disasters in recent memory, 10 people in the United States have recently either died or been seriously wounded when the airbag in their car went off and blasted their face, neck, and chest with metal shrapnel.Instead of creating a pillow to cushion the impact, these made-in-China airbags acted like grenades—so far killing eight drivers in what would've otherwise been survivable crashes—and seriously injuring two others.Let's go through what we know about these airbags, how they're getting into cars, why they're killing people, as well as how you can check your own car to see whether you're safe.

Airbags para motoristas y la "Evitabilidad": Lecciones de seguridad desde el Dakar En este episodio de AutoFM, partimos de las impactantes imágenes de la caída del piloto Tosa en el Dakar para profundizar en un elemento de seguridad que está salvando vidas: el chaleco airbag para motoristas. Analizamos su funcionamiento, su uso en la calle frente a la competición y la importancia de la conducta PAS en carretera. El Airbag de Moto: Tipos y Funcionamiento El airbag no es un elemento mágico, sino un sistema diseñado para mitigar lesiones críticas en el tórax, cervicales y espalda, además de evitar la rotura de la clavícula. Existen dos tipos principales según su tecnología: Accionamiento Electrónico: Utiliza sensores y acelerómetros que detectan una sacudida o deceleración brusca e inflan el sistema de forma instantánea. En competición son muy eficaces, aunque en disciplinas como el enduro o el rally raid pueden dar "falsos positivos" debido a las sacudidas constantes del terreno. Accionamiento Mecánico: El chaleco va unido a la moto mediante un cable (similar al sistema de seguridad de las cintas de correr). Si el piloto se separa de la motocicleta, el cable se tensa y activa el inflado. Consejos para el usuario de calle El airbag es un complemento, no un sustituto de la equipación básica. Antes de invertir en uno, es vital contar con un casco, guantes, pantalones y botas de calidad. Además, se debe tener en cuenta: Mantenimiento: El coste de recargar las bombonas de gas varía drásticamente (desde 50€ hasta más de 500€ según el modelo). Talla y ajuste: Al igual que en el Dakar, la equipación debe ser de la talla exacta para que proteja adecuadamente. Caducidad: Muchos motoristas olvidan que elementos como el casco caducan; en competición, todo es de última generación y homologación (como la R22.06). La invisibilidad del motorista y los ángulos muertos Un tema recurrente en el Dakar es la colisión entre coches y motos. A menudo no se trata de falta de voluntad, sino de limitaciones físicas de los vehículos de competición: Movilidad nula: Los pilotos van sujetos con arneses de seis puntos, el sistema HANS y el casco, lo que reduce su capacidad de giro de cuello al mínimo. Prioridad de seguridad pasiva: Se sacrifica visibilidad (seguridad activa) para aumentar la protección estructural del piloto (seguridad pasiva). Foco visual: Un piloto de rallies mira muy lejos; los objetos o motos que se encuentran en el ángulo muerto inmediato son, en muchas ocasiones, invisibles. El concepto de "Evitabilidad" Técnicamente, en seguridad vial hablamos de evitabilidad: la responsabilidad que todos tenemos de hacer lo posible por evitar un accidente, independientemente de quién tenga la prioridad legal. Un conductor experto debe ser capaz de anticipar más riesgos que un conductor novel. Es recomendable realizar cursos de conducción cada pocos años para mantener esta capacidad de reacción actualizada. Conducta PAS y el Deber de Socorro El deber de socorro es una obligación legal y moral, tanto en la carrera como en la vida diaria. Ante un accidente, se debe seguir el protocolo PAS: Proteger: Asegurar la zona para que no haya más víctimas. Avisar: Llamar al 112. Es fundamental dar el punto kilométrico exacto y colaborar con el operador (incluso facilitando el DNI si se solicita para evitar falsas alarmas). Socorrer: Ayudar en la medida de los conocimientos de cada uno. Nota sobre tecnología: El manos libres del coche no es para conversaciones largas, sino para emergencias. Su uso principal debería ser poder llamar al 112 mediante comandos de voz mientras mantenemos el control del vehículo.
