A native of Australia and an honors graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in London, Ron begins the 25/26 season as the new Principal Pops Conductor of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. No stranger to the BPO, he previously served as their Associate Conductor, among other notable roles including Music Director for the Fort Worth Dallas Ballet and the Springfield Symphony. He's also been Principal Pops Conductor for both the Fort Worth and Syracuse Symphonies. Ron's conducted everything from symphonic works, ballet, and opera to musical theater and over 30 live-to-film productions, including all eight Harry Potter films! He's shared the stage with a diverse array of artists, from classical virtuosos to pop icons like James Taylor, Leslie Odom Jr., and Gladys Knight. Beyond the baton, Ron is deeply committed to the community. He's board president of Harmony Project Tulsa, bringing music education to underSERVED youth. Ron recently graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State University, receiving a prestigious dean's medal. He lives in Tulsa with his wife, Laura, and their six children.

In other news, about 115 animals from Texas' flood-ravaged Hill Country landed Thursday at a private tarmac in Fort Worth, flown by the nonprofit Wings of Rescue. A trio of organizations — Humane Society of North Texas in Fort Worth, SPCA of Texas in Dallas and Operation Kindness in Carrollton — took in the animals. Wings of Rescue flew the animals from shelters in San Angelo and San Marcos, inundated this week with cats and dogs rescued from the July 4 flood; the Texas Trees Foundation secured $25 million in state funding for the Southwestern Medical District Transformation Project in the Harry Hines Corridor. The $198 million project led by the Dallas-based nonprofit aims to transform the area; and as the Cowboys begin their 66th season in franchise history with a trip to Oxnard, California for training camp on July 20, the face of the franchise enters a crucial moment in his professional career. Part 2 of 2. Two years after the murder of 32-year-old Lauren Whitener, a potential suspect emerged when the dismembered bodies of three people were found burning in a Fort Worth dumpster. The person who murdered them, Jason Alan Thornburg, was apprehended relatively quickly and readily confessed to two other murders as well. A few years before Thornburg's conviction for the three murders, the prime suspect in Lauren's murder, Rodney Aric Maxwell, was released on bond after sitting in a Wise County jail for almost 6 months. Not long after that, the charges against him were dismissed.
