Hello to you Lorraine, listening in Corona del Mar, California!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds (and a bit more for a story) for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga. It was early morning when I lifted the shade and looked out the airplane window at the brown, mid-September harvested fields of Spain below me, stretching as far as the eye could see. I felt sick, gut-clenching, breath-holding, throat-constricting sick. What a stupid idea! What was I thinking! How ridiculous, foolish even, to even imagine that I could walk across Spain - alone - as a pilgrim - with nothing more than a backpack and a guide book. Who was I kidding? As the plane began its descent into Madrid, I had already made up my mind that I could not, should not, and would not walk the Camino de Santiago. I was no pilgrim. I would pick up my backpack and catch the next flight. I was going back home. What happened next? Tucked between the pages of the guide book I was holding was an envelope and in the envelope a short message from my story galpal, Lorraine. Her first words were “WELL DONE!”Her words continued: As you read this thousands of feet above the earth (and how could she have known that?) you may be wondering why I gave you a “WELL DONE!” card to start your Camino de Santiago journey. Regardless of what does or doesn't happen from here on out, you will be forever changed simply because you showed up. And that, my friend, is “WELL DONE!”What could I do? What would you do?The plane descended, taxied to the Madrid Airport gate, and I disembarked with the rest of the passengers. I found my way to baggage claim, through customs, and out of the terminal looking for the bus that would take me across Madrid to the station for the train to Pamplona where I over-nighted before taking another bus to St. Jean Pied de Port, France to finally begin my Camino de Santiago. I walked out of France, over the Pyrenees Mountains, into Spain, and then 500 miles on foot to Santiago.Since then I say my life is BC & AC: Before Camino and After Camino. Not a day goes by that I don't recall my pilgrimage, relying on the kindness of strangers, and the unforgettable words that gave me the courage to set out: WELL DONE!Story Prompt: Who gave you a hand up when you needed it most and expected it least? What happened next? Write that story and tell it out loud!Thank you for listening! You're always welcome: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" Speaking of magic, I hope you'll subscribe, share a 5-star rating and nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, bring your friends and rellies, and join us! Youth ministry isn't meant to be done alone—especially in today's world. In this episode of Youth Worker On Fire, Doug Edwards unpacks how building strong ministry teams, embracing spiritual support, and trusting God's angel armies can transform how we lead and protect the next generation. You might feel like you're carrying your ministry alone—but you're not. Not even close! In this eye-opening episode of Youth Worker On Fire, Doug Edwards shares the unseen truth behind powerful youth ministries: they're never built solo. Whether it's a behind-the-scenes prayer warrior, an organized army of volunteers, or even angels on divine assignment, real impact happens when we embrace the team God's already given us. Doug weaves together stories of military precision from Navy SEALs, near-death encounters with angels, and his own decades in student ministry to show how youth workers are backed by a spiritual support system way bigger than they realize. ⚔️ You're not just leading students—you're fighting for their souls. And Heaven has your back.

Isn't it so interesting to pay attention to the changing of one season to another? This year talking about the seasons is teaching us about rhythms, transitions, seasonal expectations—and it's giving us eyes to see what God's doing through it all. And now… it's time for SUMMER! Starting Monday, June 23rd, we officially kick off the summer on the podcast with our pastor of the pod this year, Pastor Mike Kelsey. I have not stopped thinking about this episode, you guys. As always, he's bringing some TRUTH to the podcast and helping us ask ourselves some real questions about our expectations for summer as we step into it. How do I celebrate well? How do I rest well in the summer? What does nature teach us about the seasons? And what are the gifts of summer? The summer pages in our TSF Seasons Guidebook have everything you need to take notes and process questions from each episode. But for summer, we've added some fun coaching, a this or that game, a summer playlist, and a recipe for a summer treat. If you already purchased the Guidebook in the winter or spring, you should have received an email already with your summer pages. If you don't have a copy yet, head over to anniefdowns.com/seasons. We watched God use the stillness of the winter to open our eyes to revival in the spring. What are we going to see Him do in the summer? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Description: With over two decades of experience in the field, Vanessa Marin is on a mission to help people break down shame, talk openly about sex, and create truly intimate relationships. As a a licensed psychotherapist, sex educator, and bestselling author of Sex Talks: The Five Conversations That Will Transform Your Love Life, which she co-wrote with her husband, Xander, Vanessa brings a candid, humorous, and deeply compassionate voice to a topic that too often stays in the dark Whether your relationship is in a rut, your spark feels a little… dim, or you just want to feel more connected—to your partner and yourself—this one's for you. Vanessa is going to help us say yes to communication, to connection, and maybe most of all, to pleasure. Some topics we dig into: Why we have knee-jerk reactions to sex rooted in shame Why Vanessa says you should start having sex like a man The myth about the female orgasm The best things for your sex life that have nothing to do with taking off your clothes The difference between spontaneous desire versus responsive desire Thought-provoking Quotes: “Despite not getting a great introduction to sex or intimacy or relationships, I had this intuitive sense that there should be joy with this act. There should be connection and intimacy, and it should be something I should feel excited to explore when the time is right.” – Vanessa Marin “This is literally what I am here on this earth for, is to help people get more comfortable talking about sex, connection, and intimacy.” – Vanessa Marin “A lot of people hear, she's a sex therapist. They must have this incredible sex life. the reality is, we've been through ups and downs, too. ” – Vanessa Marin “We get very little, if no, actual sex education. Most of us are left with movies, and TV, and porn as our only sex education. So it's totally understandable that most of us see these scenes and think, that's what I'm looking for. That's the kind of connection I'm supposed to have with my partner. But, the reality is the way that sex looks on TV and in the movies, that's designed for entertainment. It's designed to look good and be pretty. It's not what sex really looks like in real life.” – Vanessa Marin Research has shown that in male-female relationships, women are carrying the vast majority of the mental load. There is so much that is going through our heads on a daily basis—all this tracking, and preparing, and anticipating, and evaluating, our heads are just constantly going. And when you have so much in your brain, it makes it really hard to make the space for intimacy and desire too.” – Vanessa Marin Resources Mentioned in This Episode: Sex Talks: The Five Conversations That Will Transform Your Love Life by Vanessa Marin and Xander Marin - https://amzn.to/43VSwnS The Sex Talks Card Deck and Guidebook: 90 Prompts to Deepen Connection and Spark Intimacy - https://amzn.to/3Hys1xa Vanessa and Xander's Deeper Monthly Membership - https://buy.vmtherapy.com/deeper Guest's Links: Website - https://vmtherapy.com/about Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/vanessaandxander/ Twitter - https://x.com/VMTherapy Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/vanessaandxander/ Youtube - https://www.youtube.com/vanessamarin TikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@vanessaandxander Pinterest - https://www.pinterest.com/vanessaandxander/_created/ Podcast - https://vmtherapy.com/podcast/ Connect with Jen!Jen's Website - https://jenhatmaker.com/ Jen's Instagram - https://instagram.com/jenhatmakerJen's Twitter - https://twitter.com/jenHatmaker/ Jen's Facebook - https://facebook.com/jenhatmakerJen's YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/user/JenHatmaker The For the Love Podcast is presented by Audacy. I spend this episode with my mentor Sandra Wallin riding waves of emotion - as you'll hear in our chat, this is our first time connecting for a good chat in almost a decade and it felt so good to be back in her depth of presence, the very same presence that supported me so essentially during my year as her student almost 20 years ago. What an honour to have Sandra on the podcast and what a pleasure to share her wise self with all of you. In this episode we travelled back through time to remember her mare Grace, now walking in spirit, but a very key part of my learning and growth as she was to many, we unpacked some of our time together in her Art of Equus program, and we discussed the value of curiousity, kindness, clarity and following your hunches. We also pulled a card from her co-creation, the Way of the Horse Council Oracle deck. Get your tissues out. This is a goodie! Sandra Wallin is a psychotherapist and educator who walks the wild edge where science and psychology meet the wisdom of earth and hoof. Her Chiron's Way programs offer experiences that invite people to rewrite old stories, reconnect with what matters and take the lead in their lives, often in the company of horses. Her work weaves together the psychology of transformation, the biology of belief, and the mythic terrain of the heart through which change becomes less about force and more about listening – deeply and reverently to what already knows how to grow. A teacher of teachers and a lifelong student of the horse, Sandra brings warmth, depth, and a fierce Grace to every conversation. In this episode of the Whole Horse Podcast, she reunites with Alexa Linton to explore how real change happens … through relationships, gentle noticing, and a willingness to get your boots a little muddy along the way. I was asked to watch the Memorial Day celebration in Washington, DC on saturday night. It was very moving and the stories of sacrifice and loss of loved ones for the sake of our Nation was sobering at the very least. I proceeded today on Memorial Day to watch another Memorial Day celebration of sacrifice at Arlington National Cemetery where the President and Vice President of the United States gave very moving speeches and recognized many families who had lost loved ones. In student ministry, these soldiers are mostly still in our wheelhouse of ministry between the ages of 18 to 25 years of age, which is still adolescence. I felt God's move in me saying, "Get in touch with those you know whose life were almost lost serving our nation" and I was able to reach one of them. Clark Blake was a Recon Marine that served in Vietnam. This means he was the toughest of the tough! I asked Clark to tell his story and he graciously did thouroughly in this interview. Clark and his family are true national and heavenly treasures! _______________________________ Looking for a new student ministry resource? HT2264 - Why I Dislike Guidebooks I understand that as tourists there are things we must see in order to have the full tourist experience. As artists, however, isn't our challenge to see, experience, and interpret the world with our own response? For me, the act of discovery is the core of the art life, not the successfully completed checklist of pre-digested aesthetic tautologies.
