Sarah went camping with her family and it was predictably calamitous in the best way possible. We hear why kids don't ride bikes anymore, parents are chauffeurs, and why it matters. We talk about how much camp meant to Sarah growing up and then as a counselor, and we lament that tragedy in Texas at the Christian camp. Sarah explains why customer service is so bad now, why you shouldn't accept it, and what you can do about it. Heartbreaking was the only word that could be used to describe the death of a 10-month-old baby in Perth. What was less clear cut is the question that was posed to the judge - was the baby boy’s death an accident, or was he murdered by his father? Judith Fordham has been lauded as one of Western Australia’s most high-profile criminal lawyers, but her dual expertise in law and forensics sets her apart from her colleagues. In this episode with former Crime Insider Forensics host, Kathryn Fox, hear about one of the most divisive areas in both forensic science and the law - "shaken baby syndrome". This episode references child abuse and infant loss. Send us a text203 Bonus Episode (Thoughts): Heal My Heart - Part 2We continue where we left off from the last episode and I am sitting in my sister-in-laws livingroom and we are talking about a SOS message she sent me after having pains in her heart. I am sure many of us can relate that our heart might be broken, even if we might not have as physical pains as she did. So this is her story and how she felt, or didn´t feel anything for years. Next episode will be 2025-08-08 and it will include a meditation! If you like this podcast please share it with a friend! Share the Light. Spread the Light. Shine!LDS AND MEDIUM PODCAST BACKGROUND:I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, or LDS for short. All my life I felt awkward and out of place, not because of my religion, but because of my spiritual gifts. It was hard to combine the idea of what first seemed like two separate worlds. So my whole life I have tried. I have learnt more about my gifts, and stayed faithful to my faith. But then I heard people left the church because it seems impossible to combine the two. So I am here, to try and mend the rift. To show that it is possible to be both LDS and to have, and use, our spiritual gifts. I am not alone on this journey, but my sister, who just is waking up to her spiritual gifts is by my side and she will also share her story.Jesus Christ, our older brother, was a healer. He asked us to love one another. So let´s follow in his footsteps. Please join me on this journey, let´s make a community of strong spiritual LDS, or whatever religion you belong to, and all work together to make this world a better place. If you like what I do, then you can find me here:https://linktr.ee/ldsandmediumIf you have words of support or stories that you anonymously want me to share please write me at ldsandmedium@gmail.com. 3:18 - Today's Topic Breakdown - It's a Documentary Roundup on today's show, with Sooz Reviews of the My Mom Jayne, the latest installment of Trainwreck (Poop Cruise! Oh my!), and Sally Ride. We learn how Jayne Mansfield was a victim of a Hollywood system that objectifies women and society's decision to put women, especially beautiful women, into a very small box, and the ways secrets can tear families apart. We discuss the cruise that lost power and became a floating toilet in short order, and our theories about why the passengers got along and left with pretty good memories anyway. We talk about astronaut and badass bitch Sally Ride, and how the very reasons she became a trailblazer also made her hard to get to know and somewhat unlikable. Plus, we hear about the "birthday effect" where people are more likely to die on their birthdays, and we learn whether it's actually true or an illusion, and if it's true, why that might be.3:18 - Episode Table Of Contents7:34 - Susie and Sarah on the field at the Pirates game11:06 - Our favorite makeup ever13:40 - Jayne Mansfield Documentary23:40 - Poop Cruise Documentary36:06 - Our favorite comfy athlege clothes.38:06 - Sally Ride Documentary46:45 - The Birthday Effect57:20 - Share your comments about the Birthday Effect.Comment on Spotify, and on YouTubeConnect with us on social media:BCP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastSusie's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterSarah's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBCP on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodSponsors:Visit https://shopbeam.com/BRAINCANDY and use code BRAINCANDY to get our exclusive discount of up to 35% off.New customers can get the Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara and a mini-sized Brilliant Eye Brightener at a special set price with free shipping at https://thrivecausemetics.com/BRAINCANDYSave 20% Off Honeylove by going to https://www.honeylove.com/BRAINCANDY #honeylovepodSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Susie's mom has been ill, and now she's on the mend, but she seems to have a bigger problem on her hands--namely an infestation of raccoons INSIDE her house. We talk about the doofus who sat his buns down on a Swaroski crystal chair at a museum and destroyed it. We discuss Barbara Walters, her ambition, and why she was kind of a jerk to women despite being a trailblazer at the same time. We debate whether we should start a "chichi chat," and why showing your body off to other women can be empowering. We hear about the lifelike dolls in Brazil that are making people mad, and how the women who collect (and play with) them are mocked, yet no one thinks its weird that men have similarly infantile and strange hobbies. And Susie lists several women who might be getting lots of credit for their business acumen when really their men are pulling the strings behind the scenes.3:06 - Peg's Raccoon Invasion8:17 - Identifying poop in the wild11:30 - Moron who sat on museum chair15:33 - reviewing the chari break video21:35 - If you like camping or have an RV, you should do this.23:39 - Barbara Walters Documentary "Tell Me Everything"27:50 - F**k you Barbara, and F**k you Ellen.29:53 - Hundreds of women meet for an online topless video "ChiChi" chat. What's on the inside shows up on the outside. The inside overflows to the outside. It's the real you – not the aspirational you or the you you want to be. That's why it's so important to take a look at your heart (your inner self before God) on a regular basis. Explore some helpful tips on how to do that in this episode of Gospel Wabi Sabi.

Unveiling Myocardial Bridges: A Hidden Cause of Heart Disease with Jeff Holden, a patient activist, author of “Imperfect Heart: Stories of Myocardial Bridges,” and host of the “Imperfect Heart” podcast. Jeff shares his harrowing personal journey with myocardial bridges, a congenital heart condition often overlooked by the medical community. Despite experiencing unexplained cardiac symptoms and undergoing multiple medical tests, Jeff was only diagnosed after a provocative test at Stanford revealed severe vasospasms and a myocardial bridge. Jeff emphasizes the importance of awareness and proper diagnosis of this condition, which can mimic common cardiovascular diseases but requires an entirely different treatment approach. The discussion highlights the need for increased recognition among primary care physicians and cardiologists, the diagnostic challenges, and the impact of this often-ignored condition on patients' lives. This episode aims to educate listeners and promote better understanding and management of myocardial bridges in the medical community.
Leveling Up: Creating Everything From Nothing with Natalie Jill
Did you know that heart disease kills more midlife women than cancer, yet, most doctors aren't testing correctly? Heart disease is super close and personal to me. It's how I lost my dad when he was just 49…so it really hits home. Most of us think of men when we hear about heart attacks or heart disease, but did you know it's the #1 killer of women over 45? Yet most of us are completely focused on the wrong risk factors (yep, including most doctors). In this conversation, I sat down with cardiologist Dr. Joel Kahn, who's been practicing for 35 years and has a fascinating perspective that challenges much of what we've been told about heart health (in a great way). We get personal - I share my own labs live on air as Dr. Kahn walks through exactly what these numbers mean and what we should actually be testing for instead of the basic panel most doctors order. We dive deep into why women present with heart disease so differently than men, the tests every woman over 45 should demand from their doctor, and why your calcium score might be more important than your cholesterol number. You'll discover the real story behind the cholesterol controversy that's been raging since the 1970s, when statins are actually necessary, the shocking connection between how you cook your food and arterial aging, why antibacterial mouthwash might be damaging your blood vessels, and the advanced lab tests that give you real answers about your cardiovascular risk - not just outdated calculations from the 1960s. If you've ever been confused about conflicting advice on saturated fat, wondered if you really need that statin prescription, or want to know what actually protects your heart as you age, this episode provides the clarity you've been searching for. Dr. Kahn brings decades of research and clinical experience to help us separate the marketing from the medicine when it comes to women's heart health. Guest Byron Edgington is a retired commercial helicopter pilot, writer, a graduate of The Ohio State University, and a dedicated cook using only plants. His other interests include a daily crossword puzzle, meditation, and a four-year association with BizCatalyst 360 and its weekly Friendship Bench. Edgington lives with his wife Mariah in North Florida. His Substack essays, titled "Passing Thoughts,” can be found at byronedgington.substack.com. Summary: Why this discussion matters Byron shares his journey to a whole food, plant-based diet after a heart attack and a life-changing exposure to nutritional research. He and his wife transitioned overnight and experienced dramatic health improvements, including weight loss and the elimination of prescription medications. The conversation expands to explore the environmental impact of meat production, animal cruelty in factory farming, and how food choices can shape personal health and global sustainability. Three Takeaways A plant-based diet can lead to significant health improvements, including weight loss and the reversal of chronic conditions such as heart disease. Animal agriculture has a substantial negative impact on the environment, including excessive water usage and land occupation. Many common misconceptions about diet, such as the necessity of meat for protein or milk for strong bones, are challenged by scientific research. Susie has another new enemy this week and this time it's conflicting with her passion for oral hygiene. Sarah had to so sly vigilante justice this weekend when she saw some old creepers leering at women at the club. We discuss the Astroworld concert tragedy where ten people were crushed to death due to a lack of crowd control, poor planning, and too many people in the audience. We learn about the "right to repair" movement and how companies are being forced to provide information and parts to consumers who want to fix rather than replace their products. We talk about the history of the Michelin star system for rating restaurants, how it came to be, and why it's not as crazy as you think that it's the same company who makes tires.Listen to more podcasts like this: https://wavepodcastnetwork.comConnect with us on social media:BCP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastSusie's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterSarah's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBCP on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodSponsors:This episode is sponsored by BetterHelp. Josh Sigurdson reports on the massive number of studies proving illnesses are skyrocketing 17-30% in New Zealand as well as heart attacks, strokes and cancer are climbing in some cases as high as 700% depending on the locale. It is blatantly obvious that these illnesses directly correlate with the mRNA Covid "vaccines" as the numbers explode following the launch of the Emergency Use Authorization on week 21 of 2021 while deaths went down over all in 2020. The rate continues to climb strictly among the vaccinated despite most people avoiding getting any new shots, showing the constantly growing long term effects. Recently we also reported on a landmark study of 85 million people clearly showing the correlation between injection and heart attack or brain death. This cannot be debated at this point as one would have to believe in the world's largest every coincidence to think this has to do with anything other than the injections. Illnesses and cancer are however climbing fast among unjabbed people as well due to environmental reasons like the poisoning of the skies, water and food supply by design. Meanwhile, "Self Amplifying mRNA vaccines" for Bird Flu continue to be fast tracked by the FDA. A new peer reviewed study also shoes that the Covid shots reduced fertility dramatically. Again, all by design. These health issues are arising as the Trump Administration which initially launched Operation Warp Speed is pushing for all Americans within 4 years to have wearable tracking devices on them so "medical issues can be spotted earlier" and people can get pharma drugs faster. RFK Jr. recently endorsed this, claiming it was his vision. His own organization 'Children's Health Defense' have since spoken out against it. Anish Agarwal and Raj Agrawal, co-founders of Traversal, are transforming how enterprises handle critical system failures. Their AI agents can perform root cause analysis in 2-4 minutes instead of the hours typically spent by teams of engineers scrambling in Slack channels. Drawing from their academic research in causal inference and gene regulatory networks, they've built agents that systematically traverse complex dependency maps to identify the smoking gun logs and problematic code changes. As AI-generated code becomes more prevalent, Traversal addresses a growing challenge: debugging systems where humans didn't write the original code, making AI-powered troubleshooting essential for maintaining reliable software at scale. Hosted by Sonya Huang and Bogomil Balkansky, Sequoia Capital Mentioned in this episode: SRE: Site reliability engineering. The function within engineering teams that monitors and improves the availability and performance of software systems and services. Golden signals: four key metrics used by Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) to monitor the health and performance of IT systems: latency, traffic, errors and saturation. MELT data: Metrics, events, log, and traces. A framework for observability. The Bitter Lesson: Another mention of Nobel Prize winner Rich Sutton's influential post.
Business leaders are calling for spending cuts. Are American's headed for an economic heart attack?
Sarah went to Vail Pride and is getting very emotional about her LGBTQ journey, the self-doubt she's grappled with, and her goal of self-acceptance. We explore why we're often hardest on ourselves and more accepting of others. Sarah talks about a study on rule followers, and we speculate about why people follow rules even when no one would know if they broke it. We discuss why procrastination can be about avoiding feelings that make us uncomfortable rather than the task itself. Sarah's plant stealing lifestyle continues, and she is having guilt about some *leaves* she picked up off the ground. We debate whether private companies should be allowed to "own" celestial bodies. Our Favorite Bits19:26 - Recent study finds that people might be more honest than we thought30:33 - "Someone's having a good time". Sarah had a run-in at Home Depot where she was offered free plants, and she said no! And now she has regrets for being so honest and having integrity. Susie gives a tribute to her beloved Brian Wilson. We find out why Amelia Earhart wasn't actually a great pilot (seems like the disappearance should've tipped us off), but instead was just ahead of her time in...influencing. Susie explains how Amelia's famous flight has disturbing similarities to the Titan submersible tragedy. We learn about a woman who donated her body to science, but ended up blown to bits by the military. We hear why a funeral home was sending people remains of the strangers instead of their loved ones. We discuss an Olympian who has been kicked off the canoeing team for having an OnlyFans account and Susie thinks she should start an account for people whose kink is being insulted. Our Favorite Picks10:37 - Susie shares her love for the amazing Brian Wilson.18:58 - New Yorker article about Amelia Earhart30:11 - Man donated his mother's body to alzheimer's research, only to find out it was later sold on, and blown up!39:13 - Sarah's airfryer analogy45:15 - Olympic canoer pays for training by showing off his skin-paddle on Only Fans50:13 - Gen-Z and their dislike for opening a tab at the bar54:24 - Susie considers starting an Only Fans accountThe End... Story at-a-glance Not all sudden chest pain signals a heart attack — less than 6% of emergency room visits for chest pain are life-threatening, according to a 2016 JAMA study Precordial catch syndrome, often triggered by poor posture or growth spurts, causes short, stabbing chest pain but is harmless and usually resolves on its own within minutes Digestive issues like gastritis and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) cause chest discomfort that mimics heart conditions; triggers include spicy food, alcohol, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and stress Other non-cardiac causes include panic attacks, rib strain, or costochondritis —these are painful but generally self-limiting and improve with rest, posture correction, or over-the-counter medications Life-threatening causes like pulmonary embolism or aortic dissection require urgent care; if chest pain radiates or includes fainting or breathlessness, seek emergency help immediately
In this no-holds-barred episode, Dan Sachkowsky gets brutally honest about his early days as a control-obsessed entrepreneur, surviving a heart attack, rebuilding his family, and turning pain into purpose. We cover everything from business tips and steroid use at 16, to culture, politics, Pride Month, and why communication is breaking down in 2025.
Susie and Sarah had a little reunion and they're still riding that sweet high. We're happy Susie wasn't on the flight where a little girl was allowed to take over the intercom and sing a Moana song to a non-consensual audience. Sarah tells us about a company that raised millions of dollars from investors posing as an AI tech company when really they had hundreds of people working behind the scenes manually performing tasks instead. A fan is suing the Colorado Rockies after he got hit with a ball. He thinks the team should be held accountable for being so bad that he quit paying attention and got struck by the ball as a result. Many people assume that ingesting cannabis — whether through edibles, oils, or tinctures — eliminates the cardiovascular risks associated with smoking it. While it's true that edibles avoid the harmful byproducts of combustion (such as carbon monoxide and tar), ingested cannabis still carries significant heart health risks due to the effects of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), its main psychoactive compound. When THC is absorbed through the digestive system, it can cause substantial increases in heart rate and blood pressure — sometimes more dramatically than when cannabis is smoked or vaped. This cardiovascular strain can persist for several hours, making the heart work harder for an extended period. For individuals with existing heart disease, high blood pressure, or other risk factors, this can significantly increase the chances of experiencing arrhythmias, heart attacks, or strokes. Additionally, edible cannabis products often contain higher doses of THC, and because their effects are delayed, people sometimes consume more than intended — compounding the cardiovascular impact. In short: while ingesting cannabis might seem safer than inhaling it, it still triggers systemic effects that can stress the heart and blood vessels — particularly in older adults or anyone with underlying cardiovascular conditions.

Story at-a-glance A specific gut microbiome pattern was found to help predict future heart attacks in coronary heart disease patients, offering a new tool beyond cholesterol and blood pressure monitoring Researchers identified 10 key bacterial strains tied to heart attack risk and created a scoring system that flags high-risk individuals before symptoms appear Patients with high-risk gut profiles showed more inflammation, insulin resistance, and higher levels of dangerous compounds like trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO) and endotoxins Global research confirms gut bacteria influence heart disease through microbial metabolites like short-chain fatty acids, bile acids, and lipopolysaccharide-related immune responses Natural interventions like berberine, dietary shifts, and fecal transplants show promise in reshaping gut health and reducing cardiovascular risk
