Easier said than done. Why Is It So Hard to Move from Doing to Leading?Ever feel like you're the glue holding everything together? You're making every decision, overseeing every detail, and keeping the wheels turning. But instead of feeling in control, you're exhausted, overwhelmed, and stuck. It's like if you take your hands off the wheel for even a second, everything might fall apart. Here's the good news: this is a normal phase. Every service business owner reaches this point, the moment when working harder is no longer the answer. But (and this is a big but!) you can't stay here. Episode Overview:Are you holding onto something that's keeping you stuck? Maybe it's a past failure, a toxic relationship, a limiting belief, or even a version of yourself that no longer fits. In this episode of The Right Intention, host Todd Tononi explores The Power of Letting Go—why releasing what no longer serves you is essential for personal growth, and how to take intentional steps forward.Todd shares personal stories, mindset shifts, and practical strategies to help you clear the mental and emotional clutter that's weighing you down. If you've ever struggled with moving on, this episode is for you.Key Takeaways from This Episode:1. Why Letting Go is Essential for GrowthHolding on to the past—whether it's regret, relationships, or limiting beliefs—blocks new opportunities. When you create space by letting go, you allow new experiences, relationships, and success to enter.2. How to Recognize When It's Time to Let GoYou feel emotionally drained rather than fulfilled. You keep replaying past mistakes or conversations in your mind. You're staying in a situation out of guilt, fear, or obligation rather than genuine desire. You feel stuck and unable to break free from the same patterns. The thought of letting go brings relief more than sadness.3. Three Steps to Letting Go and Moving ForwardStep 1: Identify What's Holding You Back – Take an honest inventory of the thoughts, relationships, and habits that are no longer serving your future.Step 2: Shift Your Mindset About Letting Go – Instead of seeing it as a loss, reframe it as making space for something better.Step 3: Take Intentional Action – Write it down, set a boundary, or replace an old pattern with a new, intentional habit.Actionable Challenge:Todd challenges listeners to take five minutes today to reflect on something they're holding onto that no longer serves them. Write it down. Make a conscious decision to release it, and take one small action this week to move forward.Quotes Worth Remembering:“You can't receive with a closed hand.”“Holding on is believing the past can change. Letting go is knowing the future can be better.”“Your next level requires a lighter load.”Let's connect!BookLinkedInInstagramFacebook Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

SHOW NOTES: On this show..we're diving into a topic that's as inevitable as that laundry pile you've been avoiding: change. Whether it's the subtle shift of seasons or a complete life overhaul, change is the only constant. But fear not! We're here to explore how embracing these twists and turns can lead to a stronger, more resilient you. So, grab your favorite beverage, get comfy, and let's embark on this journey together. Change comes in many forms—planned or unexpected, minor tweaks or major transformations. It's the process of becoming different, and while it can be daunting, it's also a powerful catalyst for personal growth. By understanding change as a natural part of life, we can better prepare ourselves to navigate it. As I reflect on the changes I've navigated in my life, I can't help but sit back and say—WOW. There's a lot to be proud of. Moments I once thought were impossible, I conquered. Others still leave me wondering, Did I really do that? Some changes weren't as thrilling, but they were necessary, and I made it through—not unscathed, but grateful. Moving forward, I want to be prepared for whatever life has in store. While I may never predict what's ahead, I'm convinced that truly knowing myself and standing firm in my values will serve as the lighthouse guiding me through. On Medium, Mazior Nyanyo suggests a reason to Embracing Change: A Journey Towards Personal Growth and Success On the Lily-Jo Project, I found some additional insight on Embracing Change: Navigating a New Normal with Grace Let's lean into the wise words of Simon Sinek on how to Navigate and Embrace Change found on his YouTube channel. Here's how to shift your mindset and apply change effectively to overcome life's challenges. 1. Reframe Change as an Opportunity Instead of seeing change as something that's happening to you, try seeing it as something that's happening for you. Every shift in life—big or small—has the potential to teach you something new.
As I drive home from the dentist, drinking a cortado, we chat about how you can enhance your nutrition and training to achieve specific body composition goals, especially for women who feel stuck despite consistently showin' up. I talk about the importance of looking deeper at your foundation, nutrition and training, the benefits of incorporating elements from different sports like bodybuilding and CrossFit, and the significance of lifestyle factors including stress management, alcohol and sleep on body composition and results. Some key things we chat about Go Deeper, Not Harder: It's not about adding more. The secret lies in refining what you're already doing—whether it's squeezin' more out of your nutrition, training, stress management, or sleep. Optimise each element to make the most of your efforts. Identify What's Holding You Back: If you're doing the work but still not seeing the results, it's time to get brutally honest about what's holding you back. For many, this could be their relationship with alcohol or not pushing hard enough in training. Own it, declare it, and create an action plan to move past it. Understand the Time Commitment: Real, lasting body composition change takes time—2 to 5 years, on average. If you're consistent and committed, you'll start seeing big results, but remember it's about building a solid foundation first, both physically and mentally. Expect this journey to be longer than you think, but well worth it. Your Mindset is Key: The most important factor in making a lasting change isn't your training program—it's your mindset. Managing your thoughts, overcoming your fears, and believing in yourself are all critical in pushing through and making the progress you want. The Long Way Home is Worth It: If you're serious about building the body you love, the process will take time. But this approach will not only give you lasting results, but also the strength, resilience, and mindset to thrive in alllllll areas of life. - 00:00 Introduction to Training - 17:03 Analysing Your Training Routine - 17:41 Incorporating Bodybuilding Techniques - 17:58 Exploring CrossFit and High-Intensity Training - 20:16 Auditing Your Training Elements - 20:50 Addressing Lifestyle Factors - 22:35 Overcoming Personal Barriers - 24:11 The Role of Alcohol in Fitness - 27:24 Setting Long-Term Goals - 29:49 The Timeframe for Body Composition Changes The Warrior School Podcast is for women ready to break free from feeling stuck, frustrated, and disconnected from their bodies. Key takeaways: The Benefits of Prioritizing Yourself More Energy & Better Health: Through movement, proper nutrition, and self-care Improved Mental Health & Clarity: Through mindfulness, journaling, or simply sitting with your thoughts, you'll find greater clarity in what you really want and need. Increased Confidence: Confidence to set boundaries, say no when necessary, and truly own your time. When you stop letting the world dictate your schedule and goals, you become more in control of your life. Stronger Relationships: By focusing on your own well-being, you actually strengthen your relationships with others. When you take care of yourself first, you'll be able to give more love, attention, and support to others because you're not running on empty. How to Start Prioritizing Yourself: 1. Shift Your Mindset: The first step to prioritizing yourself is giving yourself permission to do so. You have to believe that you are worthy of time, care, and attention. Challenge any guilt or self-judgment that comes up when you start focusing on yourself. It's okay to say no to others and say yes to yourself. 2. Identify What's Truly Important to You: Sit down and reflect: What's missing in your life? What would make you feel more fulfilled? Identify the areas in your life that need more attention, and set goals that are aligned with your true values. 3. Set Boundaries: Saying no to things that drain your energy or take away from your personal time. It's about carving out space for yourself and protecting that space unapologetically. 4. Create Daily Rituals/Routines: Routines create consistency and structure around self-care. Set up a simple morning or evening routine that's just for you. It could be 10 minutes of journaling, stretching, or enjoying your coffee in silence before the day starts. These small acts signal to your brain that your well-being is important. 5. Take Action on Your Health: Regular exercise, nourishing food, and proper rest are foundational to feeling your best. Start with small, achievable steps—add a 10-minute walk to your day, focus on drinking more water, or try a new healthy recipe this week. When you feel good in your body, it's much easier to show up for yourself and others. 6. Accountability: Find a community or a coach—someone who can encourage you, remind you of your goals, and celebrate your progress. Surround yourself with people who support your decision to prioritize YOU. I'm here to help! I offer one-on-one coaching for women who are ready to create lasting change and make their health and mindset a priority. Brenda Wollenberg is an author and educator. She combines her education and experience as a nutritionist, social worker, and co-pastor in her work as a body /mind /spirit wellness coach. Over the past five years, she has expanded her training and scope of practice to help her clients understand how genetics influences overall wellness. She has worked for decades using metabolic typing to inform food plans, exercise routines, and stress management tools. With the added epigenetic component, however—examining how behaviors and environment can cause changes that affect genes' expression—she now works, 1-1 and in a group setting, to help clients explore clinically relevant and nutritionally actionable genes, and discover the ideal way to eat, supplement, move and calm for their genetic profile. Brenda is the author of 'Overweight Kids in a Toothpick World', and 'Eat, Sleep Move: For Your Genetic Body Type. How to Physically and Emotionally Care for a Unique You'. She has had articles in Canadian Living, Mclean's, and Family Fun and has also created In Balance Wellness programs for children, teens, and adults. Most recently, along with co-creator Alicia Mazari-Anderson, a fellow nutritionist with a Ph.D. in biology, Brenda has developed Gene Reset Blueprint: A 12-Week Program for Personalized Optimal Health. Brenda's decades of experience across a range of physical, emotional, and spiritual modalities, has enabled her to design a methodology that harnesses the power of genetics and epigenetics—the environment—to optimize good health. Performance anxiety is one the leading reasons athletes struggle to consistently perform at their capabilities. Learning how to channel your nerves is key to performing at your best when it matters most. Unfortunately most athletes focus on the threats of high-pressure situations. Pressure can Provoke a State of Fear As a result the pressure provokes a fear state that leaves the athlete tense, overthinking, and underperforming. Here are 3 other common reasons athletes don't perform under pressure: Zoomed In on the Context Overly focused on the context and making the results seem more important than they are is a sure fire way to feel the burden of the results weigh heavily on your mind. Survive Over Thrive Are you focused on not screwing up or are you focused on going out there and having an impact? This is the difference between a fear mindset vs attack mindset. Need To, Have To, Should Mindset Creating an unhealthy relationship with your desired results often leads to a decrease in performance. The sport culture perpetuates this language with coaches often saying “this is a must win game” but this narrative often provokes the fear state. The good news is you can overcome these limiting mindsets by following the 3 steps below - as a result you will be able to perform at your best when it matters most. Step 1: Plan to Cope Coping planning is essential to stress management for all areas of life. And it works particularly well for handling high pressure situations. In short - Planning to Cope is simply what it means. You are planning for how you will respond (cope) when a stressor (pressure) is presented. It is like studying for a test - it works way better when you study before the test - not trying to figure it out in the thick of it. Step 2: Mental Rehearsal Most athletes think imagery and mental preparation is only for focusing on what you want to do and being positive. But one of the best benefits of imagery is to mentally rehearse how you plan to cope with stressors. By mentally rehearsing how you are going to respond to a pressure situation makes you way more likely to respond that way. So not only do you want to study and clarify how you want to respond then you want to hammer that into your brain. Repetition is the mother of learning! Step 3: Measure Your Progress By getting steps 1 and 2 down pat you are well on your way to start performing at your best when it matters most. This step helps lock it in and ensure you really hone your ability to perform under pressure. Here is example of what this looks like: 1. Identify What to Measure: E.g., I want to zoom out, feel relaxed, ready and excited before performances. 2. Track Your Progress: Reflect on that number after each game and see it go up! 3. Adjust & Learn: When the number dips or when it stops rising, reflect on what is holding you back and refer back to Step 1 - find which coping planning strategy will help the most. This also could be a key time to getting a mental performance coach to be a third party and help you improve faster and more effectively. I hope you found this helpful. Let us know if you have any questions. If you know anyone that could benefit from this podcast - please share it with them.

Welcome to today’s show! In today’s episode, I outline 6 questions to ask yourself on how routines & rituals have helped you in your recovery. My bullet points below are a series of questions rather than statements. This is similar to what I do with my monthly newsletter. I’m a big journaler and our brains are problem solving “vessels” so let it do its job. Write down each question and then answer it WHAT WE’LL LEARN Ask Yourself: Question #1: Identify What routines and rituals that have created continuity for you this year? Question #2: What new routines and rituals have created structure and joy for you this year? Question #3: Do you follow any religious or spiritual rituals? (a familiar A.I.R. question) :) Question #4: What are some special routines or rituals you’ve made with friends this year? Question #5: What new routines and rituals would you like to try now? Have you ever gone after something, achieved a goal or fulfilled a dream only to have it not turn out as you thought it would? We usually tell ourselves if we get the job, get a certain type of client or if you learned how to lead or sell like John or Jane, then did we'd be happier, more successful and feel fulfilled. But when we finally get there, the bill of goods we bought into was not all that it what cracked up to be. Some people will settle and say, it's just the way it is. Others will blame themselves thinking something must be wrong with them to not love this life or business they strived all these years to create. And some people will take a good hard look at themselves, their business and their life and go for a do-over. My guest today Tara McMullin is a trusted small business strategist and the founder of What Works. She's also the host of the What Works podcast and co-founder of YellowHouse.Media, a podcast production agency & consultancy. Her work has been featured in Fast Company, Inc, Forbes, CreativeLive, and Copyblogger. Current models of success aren't made for everyone. You're not someone who can be stuffed to fit into a box or certain type of model. You are a multi-faceted leader and professional. So how do you bring all of you to your work and business, without forcing yourself into a one-dimensional version of what you think you need to be projecting out into the world to be successful. Well check this episode out to learn more as Tara McMullin shares her experience on starting over and building a business around who you are, not who you think you should be. Episode #75 Steps to Identify What to Outsource and Where to Look for the Right People to Help with Your Outsourcing Needs Owning a business is challenging, especially with the changes in technology and the role it plays in the modern industry. So for any solo and small business owner who can’t seem to catch up with the times or is struggling to juggle ten different tasks at once, Azi Rosenblum provides a solution to help alleviate the workload. In this episode of Enlightened Entrepreneur, Azi and Yeukai discuss what makes RemSource different from other companies that provide outsourced solutions to businesses around the world. Key Questions Asked: What is RemSource all about? How did Azi get started with the journey of being a full-time entrepreneur? What things did Azi have to do to make a smoother transformation from being an employee to becoming a business owner? What are the best practices to follow to ensure balance between family relationships and your business? How did Azi get his first client? And do Azi market his business now, six years later since he got started? What does Azi’s normal day looks like today? At what point did Azi decide it’s time to start growing his team and what were his criterion in identifying the type of employees he need for his business? What sort of things do Azi know now, which, if he’d known before he would be far ahead on his business? Highlights of Lessons Learned: Concept Behind Remsource With the technology change and solutions coming on board all the time, RemSource aims to make businesses as efficient and effective as possible. As an outsourced solution for admin and books, RemSource provides business owners the ability to focus on more important matters. The Journey The first step in establishing any business is to recognize a certain need, for RemSource, it’s the pattern seen in many small business owners where as soon as their pace started to pick up, tasks for their everyday operations start to get beyond the time that they have in every day.The second step to establishing a business is researching and seeking out for a particular concept and continue to fine-tune that until you create a unique business model. The third step is establishing a good business model. Smooth Transition and Balance Find something you are passionate about, believe in yourselves and in your business, and keep going!Make sure to compartmentalize, as sometimes working harder doesn’t really create more results. It is important for any business owner to organize your time, stay focused, make lists, make sure that you’re reassessing priorities.Your relationships are the area where you will see the most success out of the time that you invest than anything else.Your family’s a priority just like the business. It may not generate financial revenue, but it generates revenue of a much greater kind. Lead Generation and Marketing Start talking to people in your closest inner circle, and with everyone that you knew. The fastest and most direct method of getting new clients is by keeping the happy ones.Consistency is crucial in marketing and sales.Talk to everyone, but don’t always sell, recognize what it takes to sell correctly.
Self-compassion means being warm, kind, and giving yourself grace. Have you ever felt like a sheet being tossed to and fro in the dryer? A lack of self-compassion and clarity can leave us feeling like a sheet in the dryer. Swish, shush, swish, and a ton of other noise going on in our mind as it spins with overwhelm. Often, but especially during the holiday season, we feel like we don't have direction or clarity and it's important to give ourselves the gift of self-compassion. Instead of having self-compassion, we often only see what's wrong with us. We lack compassion and self-judgment overrules. Krista Resnick saw this first-hand with her photography clients and decided to become a life coach so that she could do deeper work and impact women and how they feel about themselves. Everything Happens For a Reason When we are on a journey, every experience leads us to something more meaningful, for purpose. We need to stop looking at life from why is this happening to me, to why is this happening for me? This outlook shift will move us from a victim's mindset to become seekers. This mindset shift will help us heal and grow and be our authentic, beautiful selves. What Does Self-Compassion mean? Self-compassion means to be warm, kind, and to give yourself grace. That is true self-compassion. Talking to ourselves like we would talk to a friend. We give compassion to others, but no for ourselves. When we aren't coming from a place of self-compassion, we are coming from a place of self-judgment. Self-judgement is a form of protection. It is a way to protect ourselves from being hurt or judged. We are judging ourselves so others can't judge us. If we are being cruel to ourselves by judging ourselves. This is an act of blocking ourselves from expansion, up-leveling, growing, and stepping into the most powerful version of ourselves. When we are doing this to ourselves, we can't build relationships with others. Self-Love and Self-Compassion go Hand-in-Hand Self-love is the power cord to all things. Knowing that you were made for something powerful and great and that you are enough. We aren't taught how to have self-compassion or to love ourselves. Self-judgment is Learned and Blocks Self-Compassion Many people have been taught to judge themselves. When people grow up in a home of judgment and squashing of ideas, they will be more likely to judge themselves and lack self-compassion. Start to make judgment unfamiliar and start to make self-compassion familiar. Awareness Awareness is where we begin. We can't change what we aren't aware of. But we have to embody the beliefs and implement them. It takes action. Information doesn't equate to transformation. Embodiment, action, and intention have to come into play. Patience is an underutilized tool. It's not a one and done when it comes to learning self-compassion. You can't just read about it, you have to take action. Fear leads us to procrastination and when we procrastinate, we don't take action to embody the things we need to embrace self-compassion. Ask Yourself What is it that stops you from practicing self-compassion? Clarity It is often clarity that stops us from having self-compassion and taking action to achieve our goals and dreams. You have to have clarity around that to be able to shift it. "Clear is kind. Unclear is unkind." – Brene Brown Not being clear on what you want in your life causes suffering. The mind knows that once we get clear we have to take action, and taking action is intimidating. Find out what stops you from practicing self-compassion. When you are kind to yourself, is when you have terrific gains. 3 Elements of Self-Compassion Self-awareness We cannot shift what we are not aware of. Notice when are you being the mean girl. When do you feel low? When are you bombarding yourself with the should have's, etc. Common Humanity We have to stop isolating ourselves because we aren't the only ones going through hard things. Every human has pain and suffering. We are all in this together and should be supporting each other. Kindness over judgment Kindness over self-judgment. Grace over self-berating. I am enough. I deserve unconditional love. If we aren't nice to ourselves, how will we rise and make the impact we are meant to make. You can't rise and answer your diving calling if you don't have self-compassion. Action Start to make self-compassion familiar. Patience and Grace What stops me from being more compassionate with myself? Identify What stops me from being warm and understanding with myself? What are my go-to self-judgments? Take self-judgments and flip them – write them in the voice of self-compassion Identify one way we can give ourselves grace? Everything starts with just one thing. Honor yourself by taking action to that one thing to offer yourself grace. It's important to write these out, not type them so that the brain can truly connect with them. Be aware of the two voices: the voice of judgment and the voice of compassion. Notice when you take that action how it feels in the body. What is your mind offering you when you take that grace. Pay attention to your body and trust yourself to know when it's time to give yourself another compassion break. Patience Much of this work is about slowing down. Patience comes into play to be able to slow down, take time, don't rush through it, and we'll know when it's time to move forward with another step. Often times when we slow down, we start to panic. Rushing through life is a response to trauma. So when we stop, a flood of emotions come into our mind and heart. Then we want to numb ourselves. Picking up our phones or other addictions are tools we use to numb ourselves. When these moments come, take an inventory of what's going on. Take them as a reminder to slow down and treasure the emotions and moments that are fleeting. In this solo episode of The Happy Hustle Podcast, I discuss the process I use to turn my mistakes into lessons and how you can too! Turn Mistakes Into Lessons Here is an exercise I want you to do next time you make a “mistake.” Identify: What were the two choices you had? Analyze: Why did you make the choice you made? Comprehend: What would have happened if you made the other choice? Next you implement what you've learned in your day to day life! Action = Consequences When speaking about learning lessons, there is literally one key aspect to it all. It dates back to Sir Isaac Newton himself whose third law of motion states: “For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.” This principle remains true for our actions. Every action we make or don't make has a consequence. When you understand and implement this reasoning into your every action, you begin to think through the implications ahead of time. Hustle Hack: Think through the consequences before committing the action. It's that simple. For more check out www.caryjack.com/podcastin Love and Light fam!
"We are what we repeatedly DO. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a HABIT”. ~ Aristotle Habits become second nature in our lives and behave and act out of habit. Our habits produce results, but are they the results we were after? Perhaps you are you currently locked into habits that are keeping you from achieving your very best life. You use routines to add value and move you forward OR to inhibit your progress and success. You can make changes to bring about the results you desire by implementing habits, rituals, and routines. Tips, Tools, And Resources: There are THREE primary tools I use to guarantee I stay on track and on point with my habits and rituals: Michael Hyatt's Full Focus Planner http://fullfocusplanner.com Evernote https://evernote.com The 30/30 App http://bit.ly/1lg36K7 Feature Presentation: Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin. ~ James 4:17 (NASB) Humans tend to do the same things over and over again without even thinking about it. Examples: What we eat Spending money Veg in front of the TV The life you desire can be attained if you are willing to examine your habits! What do you want? What area of your life do you desire to see change? What are your present habits? The same is true of our routines. There are 5 steps I recommend for making the difference in your life you desire to make: Answer the question “What Do I Want?” Examine your current beliefs and habits. Identify: What new beliefs and/or habits can you develop and live that will move the needle? Commit: Make a commitment to yourself to do this action every day/week, etc for 90 days. Establish Rituals and Routines A ritual is nothing more than an act or series of acts done in a particular situation and in the same way each time. Rituals and routines, when properly structured, give us a track to run on, especially while we are working to for new habits. The key to make it a lasting routine is to make it something you do over and over again in the same way. Doing this forms our pattern of behaviors into habits. Habits, then, create the outcomes we want in our lives. Influencer's Challenge: My Challenge: What new habits will you form TODAY that will change your future?
We behave and act out of habit As we embark on another year, one of the most important things we can do is evaluate our habits. Habits, when formed, become second nature DRIVERS for our lives. These habits produce results; so when the results you are presently experiencing in you life don't match up to what you want or know you are capable of, you must, as RAFIKI said … LOOK CLOSER! ON today's program, I want to share with you ‘The Power of Habits, Rituals, and Routines‘ Biblical Principle: James 4:17 17 Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin. What we repeatedly do “We are what we repeatedly DO. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a HABIT”. ~ Aristotle Here's 5 Steps I would Recommend: 1. Answer the question … “What Do I Want?” 2. Examine your beliefs and habits about that area. What are you currently doing repeatedly? 3. Identify: What new beliefs and/or habits can you develop and live that WILL move the needle? 4. Commit: Make a commitment to yourself to DO this action every day/week, etc for 90 days. Block time 5. Establish Rituals and Routines WHAT ABOUT YOU? PUSHING THE SELF DESTRUCT BUTTON Whenever someone wrongs you there is a DEBT in your relationship. They owe you. “You OWE me an apology.” “For this reason the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who wished to settle accounts with his slaves. When he had begun to settle them, one who owed him ten thousand talents was brought to him. But since he [c]did not have the means to repay, his lord commanded him to be sold, along with his wife and children and all that he had, and repayment to be made. So the slave fell to the ground and prostrated himself before him, saying, ‘Have patience with me and I will repay you everything.’ And the lord of that slave felt compassion and released him and forgave him the debt. But that slave went out and found one of his fellow slaves who owed him a hundred [denarii; and he seized him and began to choke him, saying, ‘Pay back what you owe.’ So his fellow slave fell to the ground and began to plead with him, saying, ‘Have patience with me and I will repay you.’ But he was unwilling [f]and went and threw him in prison until he should pay back what was owed. So when his fellow slaves saw what had happened, they were deeply grieved and came and reported to their lord all that had happened. Then summoning him, his lord *said to him, ‘You wicked slave, I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me. Should you not also have had mercy on your fellow slave, in the same way that I had mercy on you?’ And his lord, moved with anger, handed him over to the torturers until he should repay all that was owed him. My heavenly Father will also do the same to you, if each of you does not forgive his brother from your heart.” Matthew 18:23-35 Refusing to forgive is to push the SELF DESTRUCT button in your life. Depression can sometimes be just anger that has been STUFFED down. Forgiveness is not for the benefit of the OFFENDER. Do I want to get WELL or do I want to get EVEN? God knows that to HOLD onto that debt no matter how deep and hurtful it is, is to CHAIN every RELATIONSHIP in your life to that debt going forward. In the shadow of your HURT you are JUSTIFIED to hold on to that debt, but in the shadow of the CROSS, we lose our right to refuse to forgive. God hasn’t asked you to DIE for somebody; He’s asked you to CANCEL the debt. Don’t continue to allow the people who have HURT you the most to INFLUENCE your current and future relationships. Your story EXPLAINS your behavior; it doesn’t EXCUSE it. To forgive and forget is NOT possible. “Their sins and their evildoing I will remember no more.” Hebrew 10:17 HOW DO I FORGIVE? 1. Identify WHO hurt you 2. Identify WHAT had been taken (what they owe you) 3. Dismiss the case – Refuse to hold that debt against them anymore FORGIVENESS is simply a decision to cancel a debt. It is not a FEELING 4. Remind yourself the case is dismissed as OFTEN as necessary Remember: Emotion follows motion. Forgiveness is NOT for them, it is FOR you.

“If you want to feel good, brainstorm about it. If you want to appear good, test it. But if you want to know if you’re any good, ship it.” — Jason Fried I love this quote. It talks about one of the things that we’re so passionate about here at Curaytor, which is this idea of actually executing on our ideas. In order to become great at execution, you have to become great at decision-making. Decision-making is one of those skills that pay dividends if you can develop it. Like communication, writing, self-improvement — it’s one of those skills that if you get better at it, it impacts every aspect of your business and life. I’m going to cover three skills — or tactics — that can help you become a better decision-maker. ‘Do You Even Have to Make a Decision on it?’ The energy and the effort that’s involved and required to make a decision can be absolutely exhausting. There’s a wonderful book we have here at Curaytor’s Boston office called, The Contrarian’s Guide to Leadership, by Steven B. Sample and it talks about this concept of, ‘Is this a hill you’re willing to die on?’ Is it that important to you or your organization that you’re willing to die on that hill? This is a really helpful exercise in decision-making because, here at Curaytor, we have three very stubborn, opinionated founders between Chris, myself, and Andrew. The reason there’s no drama or power struggle in our nearly five-year-old company is that we’ve all — in our own minds — decided the hill that we’re willing to die on. So one of the things that we have to think about to become better at decision-making is being OK with saying, “I don’t have to make a decision on this because this is not a hill I’m willing to die on.” ‘Can You Reduce the Number of Decisions You Make Every Single Day?’ There’s a wonderful TED Talk done by Barry Schwartz where he talks about the idea of having too many options, “The Paradox of Choice”. If you ask consumers if they want more or fewer choices, they’re always going to say, “More.” But, in fact, more choices lead to more stress, anxiety, and suffering. So, one of the ways to become better at decision-making is to dramatically reduce the number of choices you have to make every single day. I can’t emphasize this enough. This is one thing that I think is so important to becoming a better decision-maker. Chris does this thing every year where he asks the people he communicates with the most, “What should I be working on in 2018?” And he tries to boil it down to a few core items of how he should best use his time. Every time it comes down to one or two things. This allows him to do his best work going forward. So, we want to think about, “How do we reduce the number of decisions we make every single day?” Identify What’s Changed in the Last Six Months, the Last Year, and the Last Few Years, That Could Affect the Decision You’re Going to Make. When we think about making decisions we have to think about the timing of those decisions, because that matters. Often times, what you’ll find, is that your ability to identify what’s changed since the last time you had to make this decision can help you dramatically improve the likelihood of your making the right decisions. One of the things I always challenge our team to think about is to identify the blind spots — What are the assumptions we’re making that, potentially, are simply not true? These assumptions, often times — the things where we’re so convinced, unequivocally, that we’re right — can lead us to make the wrong decisions, at the wrong times. At Curaytor, we’re all about helping our team develop skills that actually have an impact on their daily lives. What I want you guys to be thinking about now, and going forward in 2018, is your ability to become effective, productive, and satisfied in your job. It all comes down to developing the skills like decision-making that allow you to do the job and be confident while doing it.

Buy Supermom vs Supermom Topic: 3 Simple Living Habits You Can Use Right Now Habit 1: When searching for a solution, start with yourself first. Chances are, just like Dorothy with the ruby slippers in the Wizard of Oz, you had the power all along. Tap into resources you already have. Shop in your own closet, pantry, etc… When you work to solve your own problems, you are exercising your innovation muscles! Too often we ask someone else for an answer. At least Google it before you ask. By looking outside yourself, automatically you established a need...a need that didn’t exist. That makes you a consumer instead of a producer and plays right into the hands of the marketing messages we’re subjected to 3-5000 times a day. Habit 2: Often, establishing a simplicity habit involves establishing a framework that helps you deal with things in a predictable manner. Try experimenting with different frameworks to see what works for you! Here are 3 we use: The W-I-N Framework: One I’ve been using more and more lately is the WIN framework. WIN stands for “What’s Important Now” and Vanessa first heard about it in Greg McKeown's excellent book Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less. The Eisenhauer Matrix Framework: You’ve probably seen this one before, but just imagine a simple foursquare matrix. The vertical axis plots importance and the horizontal axis plots urgency. So if you picture the four squares, the top/left square is Box 1, Urgent & Important box. The top right is Box 2, Less Urgent & Important. Box 3 on the bottom/left is Less Important & Urgent. And finally, Box 4, Less Important & Less urgent, is on the bottom/right. The folks over at Eisenhauer.me did a great little video: Isn’t that the truth! “What is important is seldom urgent and what is urgent is seldom important.” The S.I.M.P.L.E. Method of Organizing Framework: Another framework is Vanessa's S.I.M.P.L.E. Method© of organizing which she breaks down in great detail in her book Super Mom vs Supermom: Simplicity Tips for Busy Moms Here’s an outline: Strategize: • What are your needs? • How do you want your space to look, feel, and function like? Identify: • What’s working? • What’s not working? • What are your limitations of the space? • Draw or take pictures of the space. • Take measurements. Make Piles: • Clear your space one area at a time. • Work from left to right and top to bottom. • Sort into general categories…like with like. • Don’t edit yet! Make the piles first to see what and how much you have. Pare Down and Edit: • After you make piles then tackle one pile at a time…one item at a time. • Decide: Do I USE it? Do I LOVE it? Do I NEED it? • If yes…KEEP it! • If no…LET it GO! • When you’re done editing, remove unwanted and unneeded items immediately! Let's Organize: • Assign zones. • Keep like items with like items. • Put it where you use it. • Put frequently used items within arms reach. • Make sure things are easy to get to…think accessibility; open bins, simple systems, etc. • Don’t compromise safety for organization. • Use containers and containers within containers. • Label, label, label! Evaluate and Maintain: • Establish routines. • Develop habits.
