Quand on parle de photographie de sport, on a souvent en tête l'image pas très artistique d'un poster de footballeur sur la pelouse avec son ballon. La démarche et les magnifiques photos de la galerie de Jean-Denis Walter nous prouvent le contraire. Après avoir été, pendant des années, directeur de la photographie du journal L'Équipe, grand quotidien français dédié au sport, puis rédacteur en chef de l'Équipe Magazine, son supplément hebdomadaire, le photographe est désormais à la tête de sa propre galerie, la toute première à être dédiée à la photographie de sport. Il y met en valeur le travail d'environ 100 professionnels de la photo, dont on peut acheter chaque œuvre.La plupart de ces photographies sont très puissantes et parfois loin de ce qu'on imagine de la photo de sport. De la douleur, de la gloire, mais pas seulement.Par exemple, l'œuvre du photojournaliste belge Alain Schroeder, un portrait très réaliste en noir et blanc, d'une dame âgée et ridée, est à la fois poignante et intrigante. Un roman graphique édité aux éditions Daniel Maghen, pour et avec l'Unicef au profit des enfants affectés par les conflits. Les enfants figurent souvent parmi les populations les plus vulnérables des conflits armés. En ce 12 février, journée internationale des enfants soldats, nous allons plonger dans un album de bande dessinée qui nous raconte comment ils ont été pris au piège dans la guerre civile qui a frappé le Soudan du Sud entre 2013 et 2020.Au centre du récit, une petite fille de 6 ans, Nialony, toujours accompagnée de sa poupée, et son grand-frère Georges, qui dessine et peint sur les murs du camp de réfugiés de Bentiu. Mais aussi les personnels de l'UNICEF, l'agence des Nations unies pour l'enfance, qui ont collaboré avec l'auteur, le scénariste et dessinateur Jean-Denis Pendanx.« L'œil du marabout » vient de sortir aux éditions Daniel Maghen. Son auteur Jean-Denis Pendanx est l'invité de VMDN.Durant l'émission, Solène Gardré présentera le travail du dessinateur de presse Tom Dai, qui vit à Djouba, la capitale du Soudan du Sud. Il a réalisé plus de 2 500 dessins, principalement des caricatures et des bandes dessinées, en près de 20 ans de carrière. Il fait des courtes bandes dessinées sur l'indépendance du Soudan du Sud, la guerre civile. Welcome to the Tearsheet Podcast. I'm Tearsheet editor in chief, Zack Miller. I'm joined today by the CTOs of Plaid and Brex. The successful fintechs that found early escape velocity did so by rapidly responding to their customers' needs for complementary products and services. There are just a handful of companies that were able to do this – to go from 0 to 1 in a way that required massive scaling and building product platforms that can support this growth. And a lot of times that required scaffolding, deconstruction, and re-scaffolding while the growth engine is revving. Plaid's Jean Denis and Brex's Cos are two of the best in the business. I felt like this discussion was a masterclass in what it takes to lead tech and product teams at the highest level. Having both CTOs on the podcast was also interesting to see where they concurred with one another and where they departed. We discuss the biggest challenges they've learned in scaling and the organizational changes they've made to support different stages of their growth. We look at the acquisitions both companies made and how Brex and Plaid integrated new teams, technologies, and products. On July 7, one week ago today, in the early hours of the morning, the president of Haiti, Jovenal Moise, was assassinated in his home. The exact details of his death are still clouded in mystery, but the impact on the country is stark and tragic: Haiti, still recovering from the devastating 2010 earthquake, still reeling from the COVID-19 pandemic, plagued by violent gangs, economic insecurity and a widening gap between the haves and have-nots, now faces a future of uncertainty. But it's far from a hopeless situation. As our guest today, Fr. Jean Denis Saint-Felix, the superior of the Jesuit community in Haiti, notes, there is reason to believe a better future is possible. Fr. Jean Denis issues a challenge for all of us on the outside looking in: To help usher in this new future, we have to be ready to listen to the needs, the pain and even the silence of the Haitian people.
