Send us a textThe Rage virus didn't just come back. It learned how to live with scarcity, built a pecking order, and forced an island of survivors to build a life between tides. We break down 28 Years Later through the lens of survival logic: what the infection still does in seconds, what's changed about feeding and endurance, and how the “alpha” signals coordination instead of magic powers. The world beyond the water is humming again, but the UK quarantine reshapes everything—culture, rumor, and the rules parents invent to keep kids brave. We get granular about the island's design: a causeway that dictates risk windows, low-tech weapons that make sense once supply chains vanish, and details like that deer head to show strategy among the infected. The night cinematography deserves credit too—clear, readable, and tense without hiding action—and the iPhone-with-rigs production choice proves intention beats gear when you light and plan well. Character stakes cut deep: Spike's faith in his father, a mother's illness that tests mercy and denial, and a party sequence that cranks social anxiety into genuine threat. The “zombie baby” scene splits the table; we weigh the doctor's placenta line as plausible biology and a rare moment of agency surfacing inside infection, which complicates the franchise's kill-or-be-killed calculus. And then there's that ending. Acrobatic rescuers in color-blocked tracksuits, long poles, and cult signals flip the tone from austere to operatic in minutes. We argue whether it's a misstep or a daring setup for a sequel that pits organized infected against organized zealots. Along the way we touch the Paris tease from Weeks, the implied retcon, and what it means when the rest of the world decides your home is a forever hot zone. If you love sharp survival analysis, franchise lore, and messy human choices under pressure, this breakdown goes all the way in.Enjoyed the episode? Follow, rate, and share with a friend. Drop us your take on the ending and what rule you'd add to survive the causeway—then subscribe so you never miss what comes next.

In 2005, filmmaker Christopher Nolan was about to become mainstream with the first movie in his superhero trilogy. Meanwhile, a group of developers in Derby were working on a video game tie-in for said movie that wouldn't turn out to be quite as popular. We're taking a look at an action adventure game that was neither a precursor to a game based on The Dark Knight, nor The Dark Knight Returns. We're talking Batman Begins. On this episode of Stealth Boom Boom, we chat a little bit about trailers that feature Batman smiling, Trailer Voice Man, and Phoenix International. We also look at how important it was for this to be an interactive version of the movie in almost every way, as well as a cavalcade of celebs: a disinterested Morgan Freeman, a bloodthirsty Cillian Murphy, anbemused Michael Caine, and a Christian Bale that thinks all this video game stuff is a complete waste of time. Here are some of the things you're gonna hear us chat about in our review: the first glimpses of many things that would become staples in the Arkham games; instilling fear in your enemies by interacting with very specific parts of the environment; goons dropping their guns when they're scared; the optic cable from Splinter Cell; an exceptionally violent inverted takedown; familiar punching and kicking, as performed by a more acrobatic, yet less fluid Batman; the weird context-sensitive special move thing; NO BATARANG BUSINESS; climbing things with 70% arm and 30% leg; bonus Game Boy Advance opinions; a lack of yellow paint; training in the Himalayas; driving the tumbler around Gotham like it's a Burnout game; dingy rooms illuminated by beams of light coming through blinds; restrictions vs limitations; being rewarded(?) with clips from the film in between levels; odd differences in the narrative; Gary Oldman's absence; and a lockpicking minigame that's the same every single time. After all that, we take you through what some of the critics were saying about the game around the time it came out, and then we give you our final verdicts on whether Batman Begins is a Pass, a Play, or an Espionage Explosion. For those who would like to play along at home, we'll be discussing, reviewing and dissecting Deus Ex on the next episode of Stealth Boom Boom.IMPORTANT LINKS TO THINGS

When you imagine the tools of a guitar shredder, chances are you see a sharp-angled electric 6-string running into a smokin'-hot, fully saturated British halfstack of sorts—the type of thing that'll blow your hair back. You might not be picturing an acoustic steel-string or a banjo, and that's a mistake, because some of the most face-melting players to walk this earth work unplugged—like Molly Tuttle. The 31-year-old Californian has been performing live for roughly 20 years, following in a deep family tradition of roots-music players. Tuttle studied at Berklee College of Music, and has gone on to collaborate with some of the biggest names in bluegrass and folk, including Béla Fleck, Billy Strings, Buddy Miller, Sierra Hull, and Old Crow Medicine Show. Her 2023 record, City of Gold, won the Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album. The furious flatpicking solo on “San Joaquin,” off of that Grammy-winning record, is the subject of this unplugged episode of Shred With Shifty. Shiflett can shred on electric alright, but how does he hold up running leads on acoustic? It's a whole different ballgame. Thankfully, Tuttle is on hand, equipped with a Pre-War Guitars Co. 6-string, to demystify the techniques and gear that let her tear up the fretboard. Tune in to hear plenty of insider knowledge on how to amplify and EQ acoustics, what instruments can stand in for percussion in bluegrass groups, and how to improvise in bluegrass music. Nationwide, just over a million children, mostly girls, participate in cheer each year (some estimates are even higher), more than the number who play softball or lacrosse. And almost every part of that world is dominated by a single company: Varsity Spirit. It's hard to cheer at the youth, high school or collegiate level without putting money in the company's pocket. Varsity operates summer camps where children learn to do stunts and perform; it hosts events where they compete; it sells pompoms they shake and uniforms they wear on the sidelines of high school and college football games.Varsity's market power has made the cheer world a paranoid place. In the reporting for this article, dozens of people spoke about the company in conspiratorial tones better suited to a spy thriller.
