Simon Says: Lessons from Simon Peter As we step into the New Year, we embark on an exciting journey through a new sermon series titled Simon Says, focusing on the life and lessons of Simon Peter, one of Jesus' most prominent disciples. This series explores how Simon Peter's experiences and responses can guide us toward spiritual transformation. Introduction to Simon Peter Simon Peter, a fisherman by trade, was introduced to Jesus by his brother Andrew. This pivotal moment is captured in John 1:40–42, where Andrew, convinced that Jesus is the Messiah, brings Simon to Him. Jesus immediately sees Simon's potential and declares that he will be called Peter, meaning “rock,” pointing to a future transformation. The Call to Obedience One of the key themes in Simon Peter's life is obedience. In Luke 5:1–11, we witness a miraculous event that underscores the importance of obeying Jesus, even when it feels inconvenient or illogical. After a fruitless night of fishing, Simon follows Jesus' instruction to cast the nets again. The result is an overwhelming catch. This act of obedience, despite doubt, leads to a deeper revelation of Jesus' authority and becomes a defining moment in Simon's life. Lessons in Obedience Obey in the Little Things Simon's willingness to let Jesus use his boat, though inconvenient, set the stage for a greater miracle. Small acts of obedience often open the door to significant spiritual growth. Obey When It Doesn't Make Sense Simon's decision to fish again, despite his professional experience telling him otherwise, highlights the need to trust Jesus even when His instructions defy logic. Obedience, even when mixed with uncertainty, can lead to clearer vision and deeper faith. Spiritual Transformation The result of Simon's obedience was not just a miraculous catch of fish, but a shift in how he understood Jesus and himself. He moves from calling Jesus “Master” to recognizing Him as “Lord,” signaling a deeper awareness of Jesus' true identity and authority. Application for Today Embrace Obedience Whether the task is small and inconvenient or large and challenging, obedience matters. Consistent obedience aligns us with God's purpose. Seek Transformation Like Simon, our journey with Jesus is ongoing. It begins with relationship, grows through obedience, and leads to a life shaped by God's calling. Conclusion The story of Simon Peter reminds us that transformation is a process that requires active participation through obedience. As we walk through this series, let us remain open to the lessons from Simon Peter's life and apply them personally. Whether you are new to faith or have followed Jesus for years, every step of obedience moves you closer to the life God intends for you. If you are interested in beginning or deepening your relationship with Jesus, consider joining our upcoming baptism service or participating in our Bible reading plan for the year. Let's commit to a year of growth and transformation, inspired by the life of Simon Peter.

Opening prayer and transition Prayer for healing of minds, emotions, and bodies in Jesus' name. Blessing over the people and light-hearted comment about “sinners/singers” saved by grace. Transition to the morning teaching and reference to the notes on fasting and prayer. Purpose of the teaching Many new people in the church do not fully understand prayer and fasting. Long-time members also need renewed direction, inspiration, and encouragement from Scripture for an effective and profitable fast. Pastor's personal struggle with coughing and mic; testimony of praying over the upcoming fast and the church. Realization: the Lord, as the Good Shepherd, cares more about the people and their fasting than the pastor does. Emphasis that believers must hear the Shepherd's voice; call to open hearts and spirits to the Word and notes. What fasting is (definition and biblical basis) Fasting described as a spiritual discipline taught in the Bible, not an afterthought or optional for Christians. Reference to Jesus' Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5–7) and the three practices: praying, giving, fasting (“when you pray… when you give… when you fast,” not “if”). Reading/summary of Matthew 6:16–18: Do not fast to impress others; keep normal appearance; the Father sees in secret and rewards openly. Clarification: corporate fast cannot be fully secret, but the heart motive still must be God-centered, not people-centered. Cultural critique: problem of overeating and food addictions; fasting is needed, not optional. Why fast? Main reasons 1. Health and personal reset Fasting brings health benefits; warning about “digging graves with forks and spoons.” Pastor's personal testimony: fasting at the beginning of the year as a “reset” that affects months afterward and increases awareness of what is eaten. 2. Fasting gives more time for prayer Time normally used for preparing, eating, and cleaning up can be redirected to prayer. Acknowledgment of family responsibilities; encouragement to use available time for prayer. Biblical link between fasting and prayer: example from Acts 13 (worshiping, fasting, Holy Spirit speaks, Paul/Barnabas set apart). Explanation of the church's prayer schedule for the fasting week (Monday–Friday, 6:30–8:30 with personal prayer, worship, exhortation, and corporate prayer each night, plus guest ministers and special focuses). 3. Fasting shows the depth of desire in prayer Fasting demonstrates how serious and desperate a person is about a prayer need. Challenge to those struggling with addictions, family issues, or sin to get desperate enough to say no to food. Story of a former pastor who listed God's blessings and then asked, “What are you willing to do?” Scriptural support from Joel: Call a holy fast, sacred assembly; return to God with all the heart, with fasting and weeping. Teaching that fasting “turbocharges” prayer and reaches the core of one's being. 4. Fasting releases God's supernatural power Observation of revival signs: increased Bible sales, campus awakenings, baptisms, and renewed spirituality. Note that whenever God moves, the devil attacks (division, discouragement, defeat, depression, doubt). Emphasis that united prayer and fasting delivers decisive blows to the enemy. Scriptural examples: Ezra 8:23 (“we fasted and prayed… and he answered”). Isaiah 58:6 (fasting that loosens chains of injustice, breaks yokes, sets oppressed free). Testimony of church growth attributed to prayer and fasting (services, groups, leaders, missions). Warning: forward movement invites spiritual resistance, requiring vigilance and continued fasting. Importance of fasting in Scripture (examples) Often precedes major victories, miracles, and answered prayers. Examples listed: Moses fasting before receiving the Ten Commandments. Israelites fasting before miraculous victory. Daniel fasting for guidance and understanding God's plan (reading Jeremiah, receiving revelation). Personal example: pastor fasting over whom to marry and other major decisions (work, place to live, business partnerships, missions trips). Nehemiah fasting and praying before rebuilding Jerusalem's walls, completing a century-old problem in 52 days. Jesus fasting 40 days before public ministry and during temptation in the wilderness. First Christians fasting during key decision-making (Acts 13, etc.). Application: fast over important life decisions; don't rely on human wisdom alone. Precautions and heart posture in fasting Fasting is not: Earning answers or manipulating God. A hunger strike against God. Fasting is: Aligning with God's will and opening space for what God already desires to do. Health cautions: Fast only as health allows; consider partial fasts if on medication, etc. Warning against “sneaky” or superficial consecrations (e.g., trivial fasting windows that cost nothing). Encouragement to make fasting truly sacrificial and appropriate to one's work and physical capacity. Practical guidance: types and structure of fasting Types of fasts mentioned: Water fast (all food and juices abstained from; not recommended for everyone for five days). Partial fast (eliminating certain foods or meals). Juice fast (fruit or vegetable juices only). Counsel on nutrition and physical activity: Ensure nutrients; limit strenuous exercise; do not let exercise become an excuse to skip prayer/fasting. Guidance on breaking the fast: Avoid heavy foods immediately (e.g., burritos, large meals); ease back into eating with lighter foods like fruit. Corporate fasting and commitment Corporate fast provides structure, accountability, and mutual encouragement. Testimony of previous years: New believers and first-time fasters completing five days. Past 21-day fast (juice/soup only) and challenges met by the congregation. Value of structure: same as work or school schedules; helps people follow through. Mention of attendance statistics from previous years and desire to see increased participation (with the reminder that numbers represent people, not pride). Fasting as assumed biblical practice Jesus says “when you fast,” implying fasting is assumed for Christians. Note of a resurgence of fasting teaching in recent decades, including influence from African and global churches. Observation: when God prepares to move, he stirs people to prayer and fasting. Biblical reasons people fasted (summary list) Facing a crisis. Seeking God's protection and deliverance. Called to repentance and renewal. Asking God for guidance. Humbling themselves in worship. Dangers in the discipline Risk of empty ritual or fasting without meaning. Encouragement to start fasting and seek right motives as you go. Repeated call to hear the Good Shepherd's voice and recognize that God wants to speak, guide, and bless more than people often realize. Fasting as feasting on Jesus John Wesley quote: fasting must be done unto the Lord, with the eye singly fixed on Him, to glorify the Father. Story of an Indian orphanage that fasts every Friday and calls it “feasting on Jesus,” praying specifically for the American church. Call to fast and leadership responsibility Fasting starts with spiritual leaders and elders; leaders must model what they preach. Fasting often arises from spiritual desperation and urgency: “turn to me now while there is time.” Warning about increasing end-time deception; need for discernment and closeness to God. Fasting and inner focus Fasting is more about focus than food; more about saying yes to the Spirit than no to the body. It is an outward response to an inward cry, an expression of brokenness and need. Calls to return to God with the heart, not just external religious acts (rending hearts, not garments). Fasting as response of a broken heart; God is drawn to the weak, broken, needy. Immense responsibility and mission Believers carry the immense responsibility to be salt and light, preaching the gospel to a lost world. Fasting is a humble response to this responsibility, seeking God's help and power to fulfill the mission. Closing exhortation and prayer Pastor expresses desire to communicate God's heart and encourage participation in the fast. Emphasis that God wants to speak and move, and fasting clears space in the heart. Call to fresh consecration and commitment for individuals and families. Prayer that God will bless and strengthen everyone who takes part, and closing invitation to join nightly prayer during the fasting week.

Season 14, Episode 382 reviews chapters 4–7 of Think and Grow Rich for Sales, showing how autosuggestion, specialized knowledge, imagination, and organized planning transform inner belief into consistent sales results. This episode explains practical steps to program confidence, build authority, paint future outcomes for buyers, and design repeatable sales systems that create certainty and close deals more naturally. Today EP 382 PART 2 of our Think and Grow Rich for Sales Series, we will cover: ✔ Chapter 4: Autosuggestion: How Your Inner Script Becomes Your Outer Results  Sales Application (Practical Use) Pre-call priming: Speak your outcome out loud before every call (“I bring clarity and certainty to this conversation.”) Language audit: Eliminate soft phrases (“I think,” “hopefully,” “maybe”) from your sales vocabulary. Repetition builds belief: Read your sales goals twice daily as if already achieved. Emotion matters: Read goals with feeling—belief is emotional, not intellectual. Interrupt negative mindsets: Replace “They won't buy” with “I help people make confident decisions.” Consistency over intensity: Daily repetition beats occasional motivation. Key Insight: Belief is built deliberately, not accidentally. ✔ Chapter 5: Specialized Knowledge: From Information to Authority  5 Sales Application Tips Organize your expertise into simple frameworks buyers can easily follow. Know their world better than they do—pain points, language, pressures, timing. Stop overloading: Say less, but say it with authority. Borrow brilliance: Use mentors, subject experts, and masterminds to extend your knowledge. Teach while you sell: Authority grows when you help buyers understand, not when you impress them. Key Insight: You are not selling information. You are selling guidance. ✔ Chapter 6: Imagination: Where Sales Innovation Is Born 7 Sales Application Tips Paint the “after” picture: Describe life, work, or outcomes post-solution. Use sensory language: Help them see, feel, and experience the result. Rehearse success aloud: Walk the buyer through implementation as if it's already happening. Normalize the decision: Familiarity reduces fear and resistance. Tell transformation stories: Stories activate imagination faster than facts. Slow the moment down: Imagination needs space—don't rush the close. Anchor certainty visually: “Imagine six months from now…” becomes a mental commitment. Key Insight: People don't buy solutions. They buy who they become after the solution. ✔ Chapter 7: Organized Planning: Putting Desire Into Action 6 Sales Application Tips Create a repeatable sales process you trust and follow consistently. Plan the work—then work the plan, even when results lag. Refine the plan, not the goal when setbacks occur. Prepare for objections before they arise—confidence comes from readiness. Track behaviors, not just outcomes (calls, follow-ups, conversations). Use structure to eliminate emotion-based decisions during the sales cycle. Key Insight: A plan creates certainty. Certainty creates momentum. Welcome back to our final series of SEASON 14 of The Neuroscience Meets Social and Emotional Learning Podcast, where we connect the science-based evidence behind social and emotional learning and emotional intelligence training for improved well-being, achievement, productivity and results—using what I saw as the missing link (since we weren't taught this when we were growing up in school), the application of practical neuroscience. I'm Andrea Samadi, and seven years ago, launched this podcast with a question I had never truly asked myself before: (and that is) If productivity and results matter to us—and they do now more than ever—how exactly are we using our brain to make them happen? Most of us were never taught how to apply neuroscience to improve productivity, results, or well-being. About a decade ago, I became fascinated by the mind-brain-results connection—and how science can be applied to our everyday lives. That's why I've made it my mission to bring you the world's top experts—so together, we can explore the intersection of science and social-emotional learning. We'll break down complex ideas and turn them into practical strategies we can use every day for predictable, science-backed results. Connecting Back to Our 6-Part Think and Grow Rich Series (2022) For today's EP 382, we continue with PART 2 of our Review of Think and Grow Rich for Sales, connecting back to our 6-PART Series from 2022[i]. Back in 2022, we didn't just read Think and Grow Rich—we lived inside it as we launched our year. Over a 6-part series that began the beginning of January 2022, we walked through this book chapter by chapter, not as theory, but as a personal operating system for growth, performance, and results. At the time, the focus of our 6 PART Series was broad. We covered: Personal development Mindset mastery Vision, purpose, and belief We covered the BASICS of this book that my mentor, Bob Proctor studied for his entire lifetime (over 50 years) that can be applied to whatever it is that you want to create with our life. Today, we are going to look at this timeless piece of knowledge, through a new lens. What we're covering today—PART 2 of our Study of Think and Grow Rich for Sales—is not new material. It's the application of this series, towards a specific discipline. You could apply this book to any discipline, but this one, I have wanted to cover for a very long time. How the 6-Part Series Maps DIRECTLY to Sales Mastery Here's the reframe that matters: Every principle we covered in 2022 becomes a sales advantage when applied correctly. Each of the 10 chapters explains how to further improve our inner state, and then we walk through how to make this change occur in our outer world, connecting each principal for the salesperson. And just a reminder that you don't need to be in sales for these principles to work for us. Think and Grow Rich for Sales How Inner Mastery Becomes Sales Results Inspired by Think and Grow Rich Through a modern neuroscience + sales lens   Chapter IV: Autosuggestion The Inner Script Behind Every Sales Call Core Idea: Your subconscious mind is always selling—either for you or against you. Sales Application: Language patterns that leak doubt Why we program confidence before the call Why tone matters more than technique Listener Takeaway: The buyer responds to your energy, not your words. Chapter IV — Autosuggestion How Your Inner Script Becomes Your Outer Results Autosuggestion is the bridge between what you think and what you experience. I first learned this concept while working with Bob Proctor in the seminar industry, and it fundamentally changed the way I understand my own personal results—both in life and in sales. At its core, autosuggestion is about creating order in the mind, (first) so your inner script consistently produces your outer results. The visual model that explains this in one simple view is the stickperson diagram, originally developed by Dr. Thurman Fleet in 1934. You'll see this image in the show notes, labeled A, B, and C. Here is what this diagram means. The Three Parts of the Mind IMAGE IDEA: From Dr. Thurman Fleet 1937 with his idea of Concept Therapy. A — Conscious Mind (Thinking Mind) This is the part of your mind you use when you are actively thinking: reading studying learning solving problems consciously making decisions This is where logic lives. B — Non-Conscious Mind (Emotional Mind) This is the most powerful part of the mind—and the most misunderstood. The non-conscious mind: accepts whatever enters it does not judge truth from falsehood operates primarily through repetition and emotion This is why: who you surround yourself with matters what you listen to matters what you repeatedly tell yourself matters Your non-conscious mind becomes the program that runs your behavior. C — Body The body is the instrument of the mind. Your body inherits what your mind expresses: thoughts affect emotions emotions affect physiology physiology affects behavior and results This is why mindset impacts: health energy confidence performance And why our thoughts, feelings and actions ultimately determine our results. They create our conditions, our circumstances and our environment. Why Autosuggestion Matters (Real Life Example) Because I learned this before I had children, I became extremely intentional about what was playing in the background of our home. News, negativity, and fear-based messaging go straight into the non-conscious mind—especially when the mind is in a submissive state, such as: early childhood (when your mind is wide open) right before sleep also while eating when relaxed or emotionally open This state of mind doesn't just affect children. It affects adults too. What we repeatedly hear becomes how we feel—and eventually how we act. This is why autosuggestion is not wishful thinking. It is mental conditioning. Autosuggestion and Alignment (Praxis) When your thoughts, feelings and emotions are aligned, you enter a state called praxis—the point where belief and behavior match. How do we enter this state? By: writing your goals reading them aloud repeating them twice daily you gradually impress belief onto the non-conscious mind. Over time: belief strengthens faith develops behavior shifts automatically Eventually, you don't have to force confidence. It becomes natural. Beyond the Five Senses: The Higher Faculties Before moving into Chapter V — Specialized Knowledge, it's important to introduce one of the most overlooked ideas Napoleon Hill emphasized: It's the 6 higher faculties of the mind. If you revisit Episode #67[ii], I explain how living only through our five senses can limit results. Our five senses are connected to the conscious mind. But beyond them lie six higher faculties, including: imagination intuition perception will reason memory Hill believed intuition and imagination were so powerful that he devoted entire chapters to them. These faculties allow us to: access deeper insight perceive what others miss gain a competitive advantage Intuition: A Sales Superpower If I had to choose three higher faculties most useful in sales for us to develop, they would be: intuition perception will Let's focus on intuition. Intuition is the mental tool that allows you to feel truth: a gut sense an inner knowing a subtle emotional signal It develops with practice—and trust. Putting Intuition Into Action (Sales) When you're presenting to someone, intuition answers questions like: Are they engaged, but holding a question? Do they need more information—or less? Is it time to continue… or time to ask for the decision? Highly intuitive sales professionals can sense: certainty hesitation trust resistance —even without being in the same room with this person. Sales at Its Highest Level This brings us back to Paul Martinelli's reminder: “Sales at its highest level is the transference of emotion. And the primary emotion is certainty.” When intuition is developed, you know: when certainty has been transferred when the buyer is ready when the close is natural Eventually, as your higher faculties become conditioned through autosuggestion, you access them automatically—without effort or overthinking. Closing Thought — Chapter IV: Autosuggestion Autosuggestion is not about forcing belief. It's about training alignment. When your thoughts, emotions, and actions match: confidence becomes automatic intuition sharpens results follow naturally Your inner script always becomes your outer results. And that's why autosuggestion is not optional. It's foundational. Chapter V: Specialized Knowledge Why Authority Always Outsells Enthusiasm Core Idea: Knowledge only becomes power when it's organized and applied. Sales Application: Moving from “presenter” to trusted expert Leading the conversation instead of reacting Why winging it destroys certainty Listener Takeaway: Mastery creates calm authority. Chapter V — Specialized Knowledge Why Expertise—Not Information—Creates Sales Success To further refine what we want to achieve, Chapter 5 of Think and Grow Rich introduces a critical distinction: not all knowledge is created equally. Napoleon Hill explains that it is specialized knowledge—not general knowledge—that separates you from everyone else and makes you valuable. Knowledge alone, Hill reminds us, is only potential power. “Knowledge (general or specialized) must be organized and intelligently directed, and is only potential power. It becomes power only when, and if, it is organized into definite plans of action and directed to a definite end.” (Chapter V, p. 79, TAGR) In other words: Information does nothing on its own. Application is everything. Why This Matters (Education vs. Application) This becomes clear when we think about formal education. Much of what we learn in school is general knowledge—useful only if we apply it in a specific way. Hill calls this the missing link in education: “The failure of educational institutions is that it fails to teach students HOW TO ORGANIZE AND USE KNOWLEDGE after they acquire it.” (Chapter V, p. 80, TAGR) This insight alone explains why so many intelligent people struggle to produce results—especially in sales. They know a lot, but they haven't organized that knowledge into a repeatable system of action. Henry Ford and the Myth of ‘Not Being Educated' Henry Ford is Hill's perfect example. Ford famously said he had a row of buttons on his desk—buttons he could press to access any knowledge he needed. He didn't need to personally possess all information. He needed to know: where to get it who to ask how to apply it Hill wrote: “Any person is educated who knows where to get knowledge when needed, and how to organize that knowledge into definite plans of action.” (Chapter V, p. 81, TAGR) Through his Master Mind, Ford had access to all the specialized knowledge required to become one of the wealthiest men in America. This is a critical lesson for sales professionals: You do not need to know everything. You need to know what matters most, and how to apply it. Why Some Ideas Succeed and Others Don't This principle explains why some books—and businesses—succeed at extraordinary levels while others, though insightful, fall short. Take Stephen Covey's The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Its impact wasn't just the ideas—it was the framework. Covey gave readers clear steps for how to apply each habit in real life. Contrast that with Eckhart Tolle's The Power of Now. An incredible book, (I love this book- I own it-and it's on my bookshelf). It's rich in insight—but for many readers, it's difficult to apply without additional guidance or structure. The difference is not wisdom. It's organized, specialized knowledge. “Knowledge is not power until it is organized into definite plans of action.” (Chapter V, p. 80, TAGR) What ‘Educated' Really Means Hill reminds us that education does not mean memorization or credentials. The word educate comes from the Latin educo, meaning: to draw out to develop from within An educated person is not someone with the most information—but someone who has developed the faculties of their mind to acquire, apply, and direct knowledge effectively. This is where Specialized Knowledge intersects with: imagination intuition perception will —faculties we explored earlier in the series. Chapter V Specialized Knowledge Applied to Sales In sales, Specialized Knowledge looks like this: Knowing your customer's world, not just your product Understanding patterns in their world that match with yours, not scripts that lack meaning Being able to simplify complexity for the buyer Organizing your knowledge into a repeatable sales process This is what creates authority. When something comes naturally to you—but amazes others—you are operating in specialized knowledge. That's where confidence comes from. That's where trust is built. That's where sales success compounds. How to Use Specialized Knowledge to Reach New Heights (Sales Tips) 1. Identify What You Do Naturally Well Ask yourself: What do people come to me for? What feels obvious to me but confusing to others? That's your starting point for specialization. 2. Organize Your Knowledge into a Framework Turn what you know into: a process a checklist a conversation flow Frameworks build confidence—for you and the buyer where you can point to them clearly where they are in the process, showing them how to move to where they want to go. 3. Learn Continuously—but Selectively Don't collect information. Acquire purposeful knowledge aligned to your goal. Ask: Does this help me serve better? Does this help my buyer decide? 4. Use a Master Mind No top performer succeeds alone. Surround yourself with: mentors peers coaches Borrow knowledge, insight, and certainty with every action that you take. 5. Apply, Review, Refine Specialized knowledge compounds only when used. Apply what you learn. Review results. Refine your approach. This is how expertise is built. Final Insight — Chapter V: Specialized Knowledge Sales success does not come from knowing more. It comes from knowing what matters, organizing it into action, and applying it consistently. When Specialized Knowledge is combined with Imagination, it creates something powerful: A unique and successful business. And this brings us naturally to the next chapters—where imagination, planning, and decision transform knowledge into results. Chapter VI: Imagination Selling the Future Before the Close                  Core Idea: People buy future identity, not features. Sales Application: Painting the “after” state Emotional buy-in before logical justification Don't quit when you are at “3 Feet from Gold” (Chapter 1, TAGR, Page 5). Listener Takeaway People don't buy solutions. They buy who they become after the solution. And it is the salesperson's role to activate the buyer's imagination—to help them see themselves on the other side of the decision. This brings us back to Paul Martinelli's reminder: “Sales at its highest level is the transference of emotion. And the primary emotion is certainty.” Imagination is what creates that certainty. Before a buyer can feel certain, they must first imagine the outcome: life after their problem is solved success after the decision is made themselves operating at a higher level When imagination is engaged, certainty follows. And when certainty is present, the decision becomes natural. Can you see how all of these success principles tie into each other? Like the colors of the rainbow. Chapter VI: Imagination Review of Chapter VI — Our Imagination “Imagination is everything,” according to American author and radio speaker Earl Nightingale, who devoted much of his work to human character development, motivation, and the pursuit of a meaningful life. Every great invention is created in two places: first in the mind of the inventor, and then in the physical world when the idea is brought into form. Our lives reflect how effectively we use our imagination. When we reach a plateau of success, it is not effort alone that takes us to the next level—it is imagination. Imagination allows us to see beyond our current circumstances and envision what is possible next. This is why creating a crystal-clear vision is so important. When we write and read our vision twice a day, we intentionally activate our imagination. Writing and reading that vision in detail stimulates recognition centers in the brain. What may initially feel unrealistic or even like a “pipe dream” begins to feel familiar. Over time, the brain accepts it as something possible—something achievable. Eventually, what once felt distant becomes something you can see yourself doing. And then, one day, what you imagined becomes your reality. When you look at the world through this lens, it's remarkable to consider how much has changed in just the last 50 years—and how quickly that pace is accelerating. These new innovations began in someone's mind first. The most recent leap forward is with artificial intelligence, but it follows the same pattern as every major breakthrough before it. Someone first imagined a world where: Amazon would dominate retail while owning almost no physical stores Uber would transform transportation while owning almost no cars Facebook would scale globally while creating no content Airbnb would become a hospitality giant while owning no real estate Netflix would redefine entertainment without being a TV channel Bitcoin would create value without physical coins Each of these began as an idea before evidence—a vision before execution. The same principle applies to our goals, our careers, and our success. Everything we create begins with imagination. When imagination is paired with belief, intention, and action, it becomes a powerful force that shapes not only individual outcomes, but the direction of the world itself.   Closing Thought — Chapter VI Imagination is not fantasy. It is the starting point of all progress. What you are able to imagine clearly today is what you are capable of creating tomorrow. How to Use Imagination for Sales Success Turning Possibility into Certainty 1. Understand the Role of Imagination in Sales Imagination is not fantasy. In sales, imagination is pre-decision certainty. Before a buyer can decide, they must first: see a different future feel themselves in it believe it is attainable Your job as the salesperson is to guide that mental rehearsal. People don't buy products. They buy the future version of themselves (with the certainty that you paint for them). 2. Imagine the Outcome Before the Buyer Does Top sales professionals do not start with features. They start with vision. Before the call, ask yourself: Who does my buyer become after the purchase? What changes in their day-to-day life? What problem is no longer taking up mental space? How you can support and guide them in this process. If you cannot imagine the outcome clearly, your buyer won't either.

In this special episode of the Chuck ToddCast, Chuck continues his “What If” series, an exploration of how small decisions and turning points can radically reshape American history. Using the razor-thin 2000 election as a starting point, Chuck explains why counterfactuals are a powerful way to understand how we got here—and how different choices might have altered today’s polarized political landscape. The episode then dives into two alternate histories surrounding the 2020 election, examining the butterfly effects of outcomes that almost happened but didn’t. First, Chuck asks what America might look like if Donald Trump had lost in 2020 and accepted the result—no “stop the steal,” no January 6th, and a very different Biden presidency likely constrained by a Republican Senate and a weaker Democratic coalition. Then he flips the premise and explores a more provocative scenario: what if Trump had actually won in 2020? With stronger institutional guardrails, a less sycophantic cabinet, and immediate lame-duck pressures, Chuck argues the country may have experienced less chaos at home and abroad, even as major global questions—from Afghanistan to Ukraine—would still loom. The episode ultimately shows how January 6th became a hinge point that reshaped both Biden’s presidency and Trump’s second term, leaving open the unsettling possibility that American politics—and even the 2024 race—could look entirely different today. What if restoring impossible relationships just required knowing what's on the other side? In this episode, Greg Stephens shares how 24 years as a master trainer for Crucial Conversations taught him that breakthroughs aren't permanent until they're practiced over and over. That realization led him to shift from training to coaching, creating a six-month program where executives and emerging leaders have conversations they never thought possible. His specialty? Seeing relationships like some people see music, orchestrating conversations where people show up as their best. Greg also reveals why his mentor Bill Solomon intentionally made his welding job miserable before college, teaching him the resilience he'd need to push through Baylor surrounded by wealthy students. Most powerfully, he explains "emotional accounting": why putting off a Friday conversation until Monday doesn't just ruin your weekend, it costs you exponentially more on the back end.   [00:04:44] What Alignment Resources Does Company goal: everyone eats at the trough (trainers train, coaches coach, sales people sell, speakers speak) Greg's specialty lives in areas of difficult relationships, everyone has at least one Works with relationships that seem impossible Application of Crucial Conversations tools for talking when stakes are high [00:05:40] Twenty-Four Years Teaching Crucial Conversations Was master trainer in Crucial Conversations, taught it for 24 years starting in 2001 Before the book was written, it was called "Path to Dialogue" then "Dialogue Smarts" One of first master trainers, stayed until January this year when he released his book Got to travel the world, train on stage, do keynote talks [00:06:00] Why Breakthroughs Need Practice People would take class, have great experience, have aha breakthrough moments Found that breakthroughs aren't permanent until they're practiced over and over If you want permanence around a breakthrough, you've gotta go do something That piece was lacking, so decided to shift business to coaching [00:06:20] The Six Month Coaching Program About six month program, 20 different weeks Teaching executives and emerging leaders (ages 21-28) Wanted to teach younger generation what executives said "I wish I'd learned this 20, 30 years ago" Most people say "I've had a coach before, this is nothing like it" [00:07:00] Building Up and Completing Relationships Build people up in relationships, let them go back and improve, clean up, or complete relationships Complete doesn't mean never see person again (could, but doesn't have to) Can work next to person and have completed relationship around an issue It just doesn't show up for you anymore because you know where you stand, said what you need to say [00:07:40] The Skills Most People Don't Have Coaches and mentors say "you need to go have this conversation," but how? There are skill sets you need, the application of them, and how to make adjustments People talk about psychological safety but don't know how to create it What to do when your emotions take hold or other person's emotions take hold [00:08:20] How to Really Listen When You Disagree How do you begin to really listen when you disagree with everything being said? How do you get on the right topic? Most people don't know how to dissect and break down conversations Greg helps dissect it and break it down for people [00:08:40] Executives on Retainer Some executives don't want to learn all skill sets, just want someone to do it for them Working with groups on retainer where they call when they have big problem They lay out background, what they've done, then Greg lays out plan for conversation Role plays exactly what might happen, clients say "it was like you were right there" [00:10:00] When People Don't Show Up as Their Best Sometimes people have breakdown, don't show up as their best, come back saying "I really blew it" Great learning point, it needed to be this way Limiting belief: thinking it's over when conversation goes badly When you know these skills, you can go back over and over and reset [00:11:20] What Drives Greg Most Watching people restore relationships they thought were just not possible Worked with police captains on issue, individual conversations showed no one thought it could be done Scheduled for four sessions, had breakthrough after first session One person took responsibility for their part, allowed everyone else to take responsibility [00:13:00] It's Still Hard Even With Skills People say "you have the skill, you should be able to do it" Greg still doesn't like having difficult conversations Doesn't want to have the conversation, but wants what's on the other side "Stop looking at the conversation right now. Let's look at what you want beyond that." [00:14:00] Work is Easy, Personal is Hard When working with businesses, always eventually get to their personal lives Those are the much more difficult conversations Work is easy, we all want to make more money and enjoy work Hardest ones are family businesses with so much emotion and unspoken hierarchy [00:16:00] Bill Solomon Changed Everything Gentleman who wrote forward to Greg's book, had heart transplant before writing it Bill told Greg "I'm so glad you asked me to write the forward because I couldn't stop writing" Two months later Bill had book of his own called "Losing Control" (in his seventies) Was the person who pointed Greg toward something more in his life [00:17:20] The Welding Job That Taught Resilience Bill gave Greg job before college as welder's helper (Bill was CFO of company) Told the guys "You're gonna like this guy I'm bringing in, but treat him like crap" "Tear him down every day. Make him feel stupid. You're gonna begin to like him. Make it hard on him." Never told Greg this was happening [00:18:20] Breaking the Golden Handcuffs Wouldn't have business today without Bill Solomon Getting through Baylor, getting great job, then getting out of job and breaking golden handcuffs Starting own business in 1999, none of that would've happened Bill took interest, made it difficult on purpose, said "you're gonna be a great leader one day" [00:21:40] Greg Reynolds Called Every Day After Greg's divorce, Greg Reynolds called him every day for three months All he said was "How you doing today? How you doing today?" One of hardest times Greg ever went through Showed Greg the power of that, he's done same thing for friend of his [00:22:20] Taking Interest in People If you really want to take interest in a person, find out what they're doing every day Every one of these gentlemen shaped how Greg mentors others Having conversations he never would've had, saying what he never would've said Taking interest like Bill Solomon did, being there like his coaches [00:24:40] "What Do You Want to Do?" Woman was looking at situation from the past when she didn't have skills Now she does have skills "Question isn't what they want or what I want to do. It's what do you want to do?" She got quiet: "I want to have the conversation." [00:25:00] Over 20 Resets to Stay on Track They practiced again, she went and had conversation Wrote amazing email about how each time she had to stop herself and come back Get conversation back on track by sharing your best intent Had to do that more than 20 times [00:28:20] Investing Upfront vs. Costing on Back End If you add skillset and knew how to address it, you'd say "I'm not wasting my weekend" Have conversation, no matter what outcome, it's out of you Have entire weekend to problem solve whatever that was and learn about what you did Used time wisely by investing upfront rather than it costing you on back end [00:31:40] Marcus Newcomb Connection Marcus Newcomb is special person, they hit it off Greg has gotten to meet so many great people networking and marketing his book Kevin is "the real deal"   KEY QUOTES "Breakthroughs aren't permanent until they're practiced over and over. So if you want permanence around a breakthrough, you've gotta go do something." - Greg Stephens "If you really want to take interest in a person, find out what they're doing every day." - Greg Stephens "My life is built on the shoulders of all my friends and people in my life that have shown me so much." - Greg Stephens CONNECT WITH GREG STEPHENS

The second being a join interview with Andreas Köstenberger and his co-author Gregory Goswell on their amazing Biblical Theology book. I have more Köstenberger books in my collection and have referenced his work in almost every message at church I’ve taught. He’s a blessing to the Church and a godly worker in the Lord. Yaron Weitzman, author of “A Hollywood Ending: The Dreams and Drama of the LeBron Lakers”, joins the Chuck ToddCast to unpack the remarkable rise, impact, and legacy of LeBron James—on the court, in Los Angeles, and far beyond basketball. Drawing from his reporting and authorship, Weitzman explains how access-driven sports journalism shapes the stories we’re told, why LeBron was always more than just another superstar chasing rings, and how the Lakers–LeBron partnership became a mutually saving force for two global institutions. The conversation traces LeBron’s path from Miami to Cleveland to Los Angeles, the myths around his ambition and loyalty, and how “The Decision” reshaped the power dynamics between players and franchises. The episode also looks ahead to LeBron’s next chapter: his eventual role as an owner, the possibility of a farewell tour, how Bronny factors into his decisions, and what a post-LeBron Lakers era might look like. Weitzman and Todd explore LeBron’s business instincts, cultural influence, complicated relationship with fans and social media, and why—despite universal respect—he’s never been universally beloved. In this episode of the Chuck ToddCast, Chuck examines Donald Trump’s holiday Truth Social spree as a revealing window into his worldview and leadership style. From angry, vaguely threatening posts tied to Epstein to Christmas messages laced with grievance and insults, Trump’s online behavior paints a picture of a lonely, aggrieved figure who often sounds less like a head of state and more like a mob boss issuing warnings. Chuck unpacks how Trump’s rhetoric on immigration, religion, and military force—sometimes delivered in the same breath as holiday greetings—reflects a transactional “Trump Doctrine” where identity and loyalty justify power, and sovereignty becomes negotiable. The conversation then widens to the global consequences of this approach. Chuck argues that Trump’s selective isolationism and deal-making have badly damaged America’s reputation, eroded trust with Europe, and risk pushing allies toward China in search of stability. By prioritizing short-term wins and performative toughness over alliances and norms, Trump may be trading momentary leverage for long-term strategic loss—reshaping the global order in ways that could haunt the United States for a generation. Then, Yaron Weitzman, author of “A Hollywood Ending: The Dreams and Drama of the LeBron Lakers”, joins Chuck to unpack the remarkable rise, impact, and legacy of LeBron James—on the court, in Los Angeles, and far beyond basketball. Drawing from his reporting and authorship, Weitzman explains how access-driven sports journalism shapes the stories we’re told, why LeBron was always more than just another superstar chasing rings, and how the Lakers–LeBron partnership became a mutually saving force for two global institutions. Finally, Chuck hops into the ToddCast Time Machine to the date Ellis Island closed its doors for immigrant processing and traces the messy history of immigration policy in the United States. He also answers listeners’ question in the “Ask Chuck” segment and does a roundup from the world of sports. Get your wardrobe sorted and your gift list handled with Quince. Don't wait! Does the order of your exercises actually matter? Amy Hudson and Dr. James Fisher continue the Series on the Principles of Exercise Design. In this episode, they explain how to structure your exercises for maximum strength and muscle growth. They cover why multi-joint movements deliver the biggest results and how to create a routine that is safe, efficient, and effective for real-world performance. Whether you want to maximize gains, avoid injury, or finally feel confident in your workouts, this episode gives you the insights to build routines that actually work. Dr. Fisher starts by explaining why the order of your exercise routines doesn't matter. Whether you pre-exhaust, post-exhaust, or mix joint movements, the long-term benefits stay exactly the same. That means you can stop stressing about the "perfect sequence" and finally trust that hard work, not order, is what transforms your body. Why do you only see a handful of machines when you walk into an Exercise Coach studio? Because the goal isn't to overwhelm you, it's to give you the safest, most effective movements that actually work. Dr. Fisher explains why he loves the Exercise Coach approach. Every workout trims the fat, no wasted time, no risky exercises, no wondering if you're doing something that might hurt you tomorrow. You walk in knowing everything you do is purposely chosen to keep you safe and move you forward. Amy shares why the best exercises aren't flashy; they're smart, safe, effective, and efficient.  How to stop obsessing over the "right" order of exercises. Dr. Fisher makes it clear that the human body adapts beautifully as long as you show up and train with intention. And that frees you from the pressure of perfection so you can focus on consistency instead of overthinking. How a personal trainer can help you stop second-guessing every machine and movement. Amy and Dr. Fisher agree that, with expert eyes guiding you, you no longer worry about bad form, wasted effort, or doing something unsafe.  Why Dr. Fisher personally prefers starting with multi-joint exercises. They're demanding, they ask more of you, and doing them early just feels better. However, research says you'll get the same benefits no matter what you start with. Metabolic syndrome affects millions of women and many don't even realize they have it.If you've been doing “everything right” with food, dieting, or weight loss but still struggle with belly fat, blood sugar issues, fatigue, cravings, or stubborn weight that won't budge, this episode is for you.In this episode of the Food Freedom Podcast, I break down what metabolic syndrome actually is, how it develops, and why it's not a willpower problem.Drawing on the research and teachings of Dr. Ben Bikman, we talk about the real root cause behind metabolic syndrome: insulin resistance and how years of blood sugar spikes, emotional eating, food addiction, and chronic dieting quietly set the stage for metabolic dysfunction. You'll learn: • What metabolic syndrome is and how it shows up in the body • Why insulin resistance, not calories, is the real driver • How food addiction and emotional eating contribute to metabolic damage • Why traditional dieting often makes metabolic syndrome worse • What actually helps reverse metabolic syndrome in a sustainable way • How food sobriety and real food can support metabolic healingThis episode connects the dots between metabolic health and your relationship with food, so you can stop blaming yourself and start working with your body instead of against it.If you're ready to understand why your body has been fighting you and what to do about it, this conversation will give you clarity, compassion, and a path forward.Grab your copy of my FREE 9 page Beginner's Guide to Food Sobriety https://www.foodfreedomwithmary.com/foodsobrietyguideFood Freedom Online Course: https://www.foodfreedomwithmary.com/foodfreedomcourseFood Sobriety Mini Course -https://www.foodfreedomwithmary.com/foodsobrietymcWant to learn more about me and my coaching programs?
