In this episode of The Light Inside, we explore the intersection of biology and behavior through the lens of epigenetics, genetic predisposition, and trauma-informed mental health care. Our featured guest, Len May, founder of EndoDNA, guides us through groundbreaking research showing how genetic expression can shape everything from stress responses to treatment-resistant depression. We'll learn how behaviors we label as “personal struggles” may, in fact, be inherited—and how understanding our biological code can lead to more ethical, personalized, and integrative models of therapy and healing.Together, we examine how emotional imprinting, unresolved trauma, and somatic incoherence can be passed between generations—and more importantly, how these inherited patterns can be reinterpreted, reintegrated, and transformed. This conversation invites therapists, healers, and practitioners to go beyond surface-level care and into a deeper, evidence-based understanding of how genetics, behavior, and healing intertwine.Key Discussion Themes & Episode Chapters:1. Cold Open – The Inheritance of BehaviorTrauma may not begin with us—but it's often carried by us. We introduce the concept of biological inheritance and explore how behaviors may be encoded into our DNA.2. Meet the Guest: Len MayA pioneer in DNA-guided health and CEO of EndoDNA, Len shares his journey from ADD diagnosis to creating a precision behavioral health platform grounded in genetics.3. Understanding the Science: Genetic and Epigenetic TestingExplore whole-genome sequencing, pharmacogenomics, and the endocannabinoid system as tools for decoding behavioral predispositions.4. Primary, Secondary & Ancillary Behavior PatternsLearn how inherited markers influence emotional dysregulation, coping strategies, identity confusion, and systemic trauma suppression.5. Ethics & Application in Trauma-Informed TherapyDiscover how to ethically and effectively introduce DNA insights into the therapy room—balancing science with empathy and agency.6. Integrative Takeaways: How Genetic Insight Enhances HealingWe wrap up with three applied strategies for integrating epigenetic knowledge into personalized, trauma-informed care.Core Episode Insights:Your DNA is not your destiny. Most genes are probabilistic, not deterministic—and can be modulated by behavior, context, and therapeutic support.Inherited trauma is real. Epigenetic markers can transmit stress responses, dysregulation, and trauma susceptibility across generations.Precision therapy is the future. Integrating genetic and behavioral data allows for more ethical, informed, and individualized treatment—especially in cases of misdiagnosed or treatment-resistant conditions.Pop psychology isn't enough. Healing requires moving beyond mindset fixes and into somatic and biological awareness. The story of healing is written in both memory and molecules.Featured Guest:Len May – Founder and CEO of EndoDNAAn expert in the field of precision behavioral health, Len holds multiple patents in using DNA to guide wellness and mental health interventions. His platform provides clinicians with evidence-based, whole-genome insights to support trauma-informed treatment and pharmacogenomic alignment.Host: Jeffrey Besecker – Behavioral Coach and Host of The Light Inside Episode Credits:Executive Producer: Jeffrey BeseckerWritten by: Anna GetzGuest Booking & Research: The Light Inside Podcast TeamMusic & Audio Engineering: Light Inside StudiosOriginal Episode Concept and Research Framework: The Light Inside Think TankRelated Resources & Links:Len May & EndoDNA → www.endodna.comCall to Action:If you're a trauma-informed therapist, coach, or mental health professional, this episode will expand your understanding of the unseen forces shaping your clients' behaviors—and give you new tools to meet them where they truly are.Leave us a review if this conversation sparked a new insight into your practice.

In this Bible study, we look at Leviticus chapter 13 and the process that the priest would go through to diagnose defiling skin diseases (or “Leprosy” as labeled in some Bible translations). We look at Leprosy (known today as Hansen's disease) and walk through each of the “defiling skin diseases” outlined in the chapter. We also talk about why a person with Leprosy had to call out “unclean-unclean” as they walked down the street.Outline:01:45 - CLEAN / UNCLEAN - do not confuse “unclean” with being judged by God, or with being “unloved” by the community. To be unclean meant you were not cleared to approach the Lord in the Tabernacle. You were not cleared for entry, AND if you were labeled “unclean” and you had contact with anyone who Was clean, they are now unclean as well and have to go through the cleansing rites to become clean (cleared to approach the Lord).04:41 -“Leprosy” or “Defiling Skin Diseases?” Why do the translations differ in what word they use for chapters 13 and 14? The Hebrew word for defiling skin disease, traditionally translated as 'leprosy,' was used for various diseases affecting the skin.05:55 - define the Word “Leprosy” Hebrew: TṢāraʿaṯh “tsaw-rah'-ath” צָרַעַתLeprosy is a real thing. It existed in Jesus' day (as it does today). Today it is known as Hansen's disease because the word “Leprosy” has such a negative connotation to it.New International Bible Dictionary p.273World Health Organization Article on Leprosy: https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/leprosy14:25 - Leviticus 13.1-8 (Reading and discussion of)18:12 - Leviticus 13.9-17 (Reading and discussion of)21:12 - Leviticus 13.18-23 - Boils (Reading and discussion of). 22:11 - See also: Exodus 9.8-12 and Job 2.7-8. This is a term used when weaving fabric. The warp is the strand that goes up and down, and the woof is the strand that goes lengthwise or across. Developer experience is one of the areas where AI applications are showing significant return on investment, but there are significant hurdles to overcome in both changing established development patterns, as well as integrating AI tooling. Analyst Jean Atelsek and AWS vice president for developer experience Deepak Singh join host Eric Hanselman to explore the current state of AI code assistance and look at where it's headed. Auto-complete, where the next bit of a line of code is filled in for a programmer, has been evolving over a number of years, but the arrival of agents to augment code generation and task automation is being to revolutionize software development. Changing development patterns is hard, but the benefits offer strong incentives to change habits. Where early uses had AI engines generate smaller code snippets that developers integrated, that's changing to having AI tackle full functions that are then reviewed and corrected. Tooling around AI implementations are tailoring they way in which they interact with individual developers, enhancing their experience. Application modernization is an area where AI can shine, as it can assess a massive codebase whose authors are no longer available and provide not only documentation, but also prioritize recoding efforts. It's a task where the hours required for manual assessment can be daunting and error prone. Leveraging AI code generation securely requires that organizations have sufficiently secure development pipelines. Mitigating risks from confabulation and errors in AI generated code is the same process as ought to be in place for human coders, an area where some less mature organizations may have some catching up to do. Na'hum. (consolation). Nahum, called "the Elkoshite," is the seventh, in order, of the Minor Prophets. The name refers back to Yahweh's compassion connected with Jonah's mission eighty-seven years before. The name Nahum is an abbreviated form of the name Nehemiah, which means “Comfort of Yahweh.”What is the purpose of this book? The book of Nahum is devoted exclusively to the announcement of the destruction of the city of Nineveh; the prophecy gave hope to the people of Judah who had long been terrorized by Assyria's constant and ominous threatBefore I get into this study, I continue with our study on what the Capital Building is all about. Was the Capital design to be a Temple set up by the founders of the New World Order? In this study, I take a look at the man who is at the center of all this George Washington. We must ask ourselves, “Was Washington a Man of God? Or God-Man?”In this study I will finish Chapter 32:1 - 3:19. DESTRUCTION OF NINEVEH. 2:1-2. Yahweh's. = challenge to fight. 2:3-10. Judgment. = Invasion. 2:11-13; 3:1-7. Causes. = Hostility. 3:8-10. Examples. = Citation. 3:11-13. Examples. = Application. 3:14. Yahweh's. = challenge to fight. 3:15-17. Judgment. = Devastation. 3:18-19. Causes. = Hostility14 Yahweh mocks Assyria's futile strength (14-15a)Draw thee = Draw for thyself. Draw thee waters for the siege = Nahum practically mocked the people of Nineveh, cheering them on to do the best they could in light of the coming judgment. They could prepare as many provisions and people as they pleased, but it would all come to nothing against the judgment of Yahweh. Two forms of preparation are given.1. Water: “Draw for yourself water for a siege!” (14a)1. Needed for survival if cut off and Nineveh being surrounded.2. Adding to fortification: “Strengthen your fortifications!” (14b) = How will be given with details in the rest of the verse.15 There = in the very scene of thy great preparations for defense; and where thou now art so secure. fire = even as at the former destruction; cankerworm = the young locust. Hebrew. yelek. “the licking locust”Yahweh predicts Assyria's weakened economy (15b-17)make thyself many = [though thou be] numerous. Figure of speech Irony. locusts = the young locust. Hebrew 'arbeh. make thyself many as the locusts = “the swarming locusts”; that is, however “many” be thy forces, like those of “the swarming locusts,” or the “licking locusts,” yet the foe shall consume thee as the “licking locust” licks up all before it.17 In this verse Nahum is speaking of those who were loyal to the government – i.e. Government workers. Assyria was full of merchants. These were going to be like food for the enemy. All the people who worked in this empire were going to flee away, like locusts that flee to the hills. This means that there would be no loyalty, to the empire, among the government officials.18 Now we see the eulogy in the last 2 verses. Shepherds are those who are supposed to be watching and guarding the helpless sheep (citizens). The noblemen move elsewhere so as to not be identified as a part of this empire. They abandon Assyria. Sin brings about abandonment in a person's life. 19 King's death predictedHave any questions? Feel free to email me; keitner2024@outlook.com

Welcome to episode 205 of Grasp the Bible. In this episode, we conclude our three-week series on our identity in Christ. Today, we explore the concepts of adoption and inheritance. Key takeaways: God doesn't just pardon us from our sins; He welcomes us into His family, with all the rights, privileges, and inheritance that come with being His children. Our adoption required an enormous price—God "sent his Son" to "redeem" us. There's a change in status from "slave" to "child." We receive the Spirit of God's Son—the Holy Spirit—who confirms our adoption. Our adoption makes us heirs—we have an inheritance waiting for us. Our trials aren't punishment for wayward children; they're training for beloved children whom God is preparing for an eternal weight of glory. What exactly is our inheritance? It includes everything Christ inherits. Quotable: Our status as God's children is secure—not because of our performance, but because of His promise. Application: How should this identity as adopted children shape our daily lives? First, it should transform how we approach God. Second, our identity as God's children should shape how we view suffering and discipline. Third, our adoption should ignite anticipation for our inheritance. Live from this identity. When you pray, approach God as your loving Father, not a distant deity. When you face challenges, remember you're being trained as a beloved child, not punished as an unwelcome intruder. When the future seems uncertain, recall the glorious inheritance that awaits you. You're doing everything right, staying productive, chasing growth, keeping up. But what if the discomfort you feel isn't a sign that you need to do more, but a signal to let go? In this episode, Charlie Gilkey and I explore the Tao Te Ching, which is one of my favorite books of all time, but not as a relic from the past, but as a guide for navigating the speed and complexities of modern life, including the rise of AI.We talk about how ancient wisdom can live side by side with new technology and how presence, simplicity, and inner alignment still matter, now more than ever,The Tao Te Ching is one of those books I keep coming back to. Ancient wisdom, wrapped in poetry, that somehow feels more relevant every year. Like this line: “If you look to others for happiness, you will never be happy. If your well-being depends on money, you will never be content.“Simple. Clear. Actually useful.I've teamed up with Rebind.ai to create an interactive edition of the Tao—forty essential verses, translated into plain, everyday language, with space to reflect, explore, and ask questions. It's like having a conversation not just with the Tao, but with me too. If you're looking for more clarity, calm, or direction, come check it out here.Key Takeaways:Discussion of the Tao Te Ching, an ancient Chinese text attributed to Lao Tzu.Application of Tao Te Ching, teachings to modern life and contemporary challenges.Exploration of themes such as presence, simplicity, and inner alignment. The balance between engagement and busyness in daily life. The metaphor of feeding the “good wolf” within us and acknowledging both positive and negative aspects of our nature. The significance of flexibility and adaptability in navigating life's changes. The importance of mental health and accessibility to support systems.Reflection on the “Three Treasures” of the Tao Te Ching: simplicity, compassion, and patience. The role of philosophy in fostering human connection and understanding.Encouragement to embrace the teachings of the Tao Te Ching, for personal growth and fulfillment. If you enjoyed this conversation with Charlie Gilkey, check out these other episodes:How to Get Things Done with Charlie GilkeyEmbrace the Chaos: Finding Clarity Through Meditation with Henry Shukman (Part 1)For full show notes, click here!Connect with the show:Follow us on YouTube: @TheOneYouFeedPodSubscribe on Apple Podcasts or SpotifyFollow us on InstagramSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

This week's discussion features Judah Thomas, David LaManna, Lenny Selgado, Johnny V., Ben Cossette, Mike McHugh, and James Gowell. Edited by: Tim NicholsonAnother amazing convo about the Book of James. Johnny kicks us off by sharing a verse about boasting about tomorrow. We often get caught in that trap, forgetting that God opposes the proud, not to mention, God chooses us.The conversation takes a shift when Judah shares how this relates to Abram and Lot. Abram places his tent facing Sodom and how we can all get caught in that "slow degradation" trap where we see something, we edge closer to it and next thing you know, we are right dab in the middle of it.The crew then talks about the catatonic state of the world, distracted by shows, doom scrolling and we end up as couch potatoes watching life go by.David brings us back on the tracks by talking about being good stewards with not only our financial means, but the gifts that God has given to us. Being Do'ers of the Word, not just hearers.Judah elaborates and shares about knowing people who could crush anyone in Biblical Jeopardy, yet their lives are off the rails. All in all, whether it be hearing and doing, or knowing and sitting idle, we get our title for this episode, The Great Omission? Information without Application. So, lets encourage one another to read scripture as well as the importance of being obedient to the Holy Spirits calling to be Jesus' hands n feet in this world.Too often, we treat faith as a collection of facts, verses, and Sunday sermons—while our daily lives remain unchanged. James calls this out directly, urging us not to be hearers only, but doers of the Word. We'll explore how easy it is to fall into the trap of spiritual complacency, where knowing the right thing becomes a substitute for actually living it out.Together, we'll examine real-life scenarios where “the great omission” happens—when we withhold love, ignore opportunities to serve, or rationalize inaction. This episode invites listeners to reflect on the gap between what we know and what we do, and to consider how true faith is proven by action. Through stories, scripture, and honest conversation, we'll encourage each other to move beyond passive belief and step boldly into a faith that's alive, visible, and transformative. Are you ready to close the gap between information and application?Enjoy and we appreciate you listening. We encourage you to read James with us and comment on what has been sticking out to you?Have a blessed day.For more information visit: www.thrive.churchIf you would like to give financially you can do so here: www.thrive.church/give/If you need prayer email us at prayer@thrive.churchThis is a presentation of Thrive.Church©All Rights Reserved
