The boys are back with a brand new look, fresh freestyles, and an unexpected guest—The Duke, one of the OG Toxic Boys! They were expecting someone else… but an “incident” kept her from showing up . J.O. dropped the ball on his usual church findings but bounced back quick. Parker hit a new church too, and they unpack a wild update from last week's “Dear ADD Boys” dilemma—turns out homie ain't attracted to his girl because she's big, and J.O. told him to stop spending on hotels and buy Ozempic instead . Just when it couldn't get more chaotic, EMP soft-launched his girlfriend on the show (?!), officially retiring his Toxic Boy badge. Meanwhile, Parker was dry snitching on everybody—including himself . They dive deep: Would you overlook someone's weight if they checked every other box? Tracie Ellis Ross and her taste for YNs Traditional roles vs. “do what works” J.O. vs. Young Studs The cutest studs Parker has ever seen Power's rewatch value… and Lobos being a lil too zesty for a kingpin Varnell Hill spin-off?? No Face throws curveballs like: “You can only watch ONE sport forever—what's it gonna be?” Blasts J.O. for being mad about a DREAM where she cheated The room also gets into: NFL Draft NBA playoff updates NIL drama in college ball Plus:– Is it gay to text your homie “I'm mad at you”?– What do you do if someone takes “make yourself comfortable” too literally and ends up butt naked?– A Dear ADD slimeball smashes his barber's wife ✂️– And Parker asks: What do your loved ones wish you'd change about yourself? (Spoiler: He thinks he's perfect.) This one was a full-court press of foolishness, feels, and freestyles. Thanks to Pete Larsen for the idea for this episode: “I'd love to see a fight between 'Exposition Boy, the Teen-Sidekick' and 'Billy Narrator Jr.'”2. If you're going to take six years to develop an international exposition and build an artificial island for it, maybe open it in an off-year when there isn't an official world's fair on the other coast. The Golden Gate International Exposition opened in 1939, competing with the 1939 New York World's Fair. (Spoilers: they did run out of money and closed early in October 1939, then scrounged up a little more to reopen May-September 1940.) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Gate_International_Exposition3. Literally a glacial age of backstory.Credits:The opening music clip was from The Sun Sets at Dawn (1950), and the closing music was from Killer Bait (1949), both films in the public domain. Episode Summary: In this compelling second part of J.R.'s interview with his sister, they delve deeper into their shared experiences growing up, reflecting on their father's impact, their mother's approach to parenting, and the influence of various relatives and mentors in their lives. They discuss the challenges of coping with their father's absence, the roles played by different family members, and the profound memories that have shaped their perspectives. This episode offers a raw and heartfelt look into how their family dynamics and life events have molded who they are today. Impact of Their Father: J.R. and his sister reflect on their father's influence, particularly the small but meaningful moments they shared, such as playing Duck Hunt together. J.R. recalls how the absence of their father left a void, making it difficult to find similar satisfaction or guidance from others as he grew older. Memories with Their Father: J.R. and his sister reminisce about family activities, including watching Nickelodeon's “Nick at Night” and playing video games. They discuss the sentimental value of these shared experiences and how they provided comfort and connection during their formative years. Their Mother's Parenting Style: J.R. describes his mother's approach to parenting, which was more laid-back and less involved in their daily lives as they grew older. He reflects on how this style, while freeing in some respects, also left him to navigate adult responsibilities and expectations at a young age. Influences of Extended Family: The siblings highlight the positive influences of family members like Aunt Ruby and Uncle Pokey, who provided memorable experiences and valuable life lessons. They share anecdotes about the support and structure provided by family members such as B and Judy, and how these experiences contributed to their personal growth. Challenges and Lessons: J.R. opens up about the challenges of dealing with financial and emotional responsibilities at a young age, and the impact of family dynamics on his development. They discuss the importance of acknowledging and appreciating the support received from relatives, despite the complexities and occasional disappointments. Reflections on Family and Personal Growth: The conversation touches on the lessons learned from family experiences and how these have shaped their understanding of relationships and personal resilience. They express gratitude for those who made a positive impact and reflect on the mixed emotions associated with family interactions. "The hardest thing was that there were times I needed him when I got older, and I reached out to other people. They didn't give me the satisfactory answers I would get from him." "When I got older, I felt out of place with my family because I was so used to being around a different set of people." The episode provides a poignant exploration of how family influences and personal experiences shape one's life and identity. Listeners are invited to reflect on their own family dynamics and the impact of their upbringing on their personal development. Even for avid supporters of Ukraine, like me, Ukrainian literature remains and undiscovered country. Today I'm speaking with Maria Shuvalova who can guide on a journey of discovery, to engage with Ukrainian culture and identity. Ukrainian literature has a strong tradition of folk tales and oral poetry, and it has been influenced by the country's complex political and cultural history, including periods of colonization and national struggle. Russian literature, on the other hand, has been shaped by its own distinct history, including periods of imperial expansion and revolutionary upheaval. Ukrainian writers were persecuted in the 1920s during the period of Soviet rule in Ukraine, as part of a process to suppress Ukrainian national identity and culture and replace it with a new Soviet identity; literature was a key tool for this, as it is also for Russia today. Maria Shuvalova is a Doctoral Candidate at the National University of Kyiv Mohyla Academy. In 2019-2020 she was a Fulbright Scholar at Columbia University in New York. Her major fields of specialization are comparative literature and contemporary Ukrainian Literature, and minor fields are Identity and Memory Studies and Translation. She is also prominent in the media on topics of Ukrainian culture, and talks eloquently about Russian cultural colonialism, and the efforts to decolonise literature and Ukrainian studies. ~~~~~ LINKS: Mariia Shuvalova, First Go Novels That Go Tanks in Russia's War in Ukraine 2022 Personal Experiences of Ukrainian Scholars https://cup.columbia.edu/book/russias-war-in-ukraine-2022/9783838217574 An Excerpt From Sergei Loiko's ‘Airport' https://odessareview.com/excerpt-sergei-loikos-airport/ Apricots of Donbas by Liuba Yakymchuk https://www.amazon.com/Apricots-Donbass-Lyuba-Yakimchuk/dp/1736432311/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1A8HTVDMQH4XO&keywords=Apricots+of+Donbas+by+Liuba+Yakymchuk&qid=1683536071&sprefix=apricots+of+donbas+by+liuba+yakymchuk%2Caps%2C322&sr=8-1   Words for War: New Poems from Ukraine https://www.amazon.com/Words-War-Ukraine-Ukrainian-Studies/dp/1618118617/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2ZRP62YKTVQ29&keywords=Words+for+War%3A+New+Poems+from+Ukraine&qid=1683536107&sprefix=words+for+war+new+poems+from+ukraine+%2Caps%2C181&sr=8-1   Absolute Zero by Artem Chekh https://www.amazon.com/Absolute-Zero-Artem-Chekh-ebook/dp/B09QGZ36SY/ref=sr_1_4?crid=A49GLG6F22FM&keywords=Absolute+Zero&qid=1683536153&s=digital-text&sprefix=absolute+zero+%2Cdigital-text%2C515&sr=1-4   In Isolation by Stanislav Aseyev https://www.amazon.com/Isolation-Dispatches-Occupied-Ukrainian-literature-ebook/dp/B09VCQD5YJ/ref=sr_1_1?crid=CUL2D5GG2NFT&keywords=In+Isolation+by+Stanislav+Aseyev&qid=1683536217&s=digital-text&sprefix=in+isolation+by+stanislav+aseyev%2Cdigital-text%2C178&sr=1-1   Daughter by Tamara Duda https://www.amazon.com/Daughter-Tamara-Duda-ebook/dp/B0BNKFBKDZ/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3DIHSHF97CKEZ&keywords=Daughter+Tamara+duda&qid=1683536250&s=digital-text&sprefix=daughter+tamara+duda%2Cdigital-text%2C179&sr=1-1   The Death of a Soldier Told by His Sister by Olesya Khromeychuk https://www.olesyakhromeychuk.com/publications/the-death-of-a-soldier-told-by-his-sister   Dignitas foundation - https://www.linkedin.com/company/dignitas-ukraine/ ~~~~~

The Greatest Story Never Told  Dr. Richard Ruhling pt 2 https://amzn.to/3qtoYKG ()Dr. Richard Ruhling has been a friend and frequent guest on this program for the last few years, and I invited him back today to share something that the Holy Spirit has just been working on my heart about. A month or so ago, Dr. Ruhling was on as we were discussing his book https://amzn.to/3RDhS2q (“MegaQuake 2023.” ) But something he shared in that interview… I guess the best way to describe it was a “seed” was planted and began to take root and grow and the Holy Spirit was showing me somethings… Dr. Ruhling is also preparing to publish a book titled, https://amzn.to/3qtoYKG (“The Greatest Story Never Told – Bad Translation and Papal Teaching.”) This book contains a lot of the things we will be discussing today. I asked Dr. Ruhling to come back on the program today to discuss this topic, which is about the Holy Spirt, the third part of the Trinity.  But what he has discovered in scripture just blows the traditional interpretations out of the water.  This is eye opening and it will open up so much of the Bible and give you a clear, accurate understanding of some things that, well, we have gotten wrong over the years. Today is part two of this great interview. So, let me kind of summarize where we are at… The “Godhead” is God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.  I believe every Christian believer can agree on that… God the Father is in Heaven, has always been in Heaven. But when mankind fell, God the Son, JESUS and His Sister, who is called "WISDOM" agreed to come down to redeem mankind? So why, again, did Jesus say, “I will not leave you COMFORTLESS… but it is needful for me to GO so I can SEND the COMFORTER to you?” Something that I've learned as I was studying this out… In the Book of the Revelation, we have the WEDDING SUPPER of the Lamb.  We, as Christians, understand that the church is supposed to be the BRIDE of Christ, etc. But, what I learned, is the word “Apocalypse” actually has root words that refer to a WEDDING. In Jewish and Hebrew culture, the man's family travels to the woman's family and they have a dinner, etc. and conversation. This is how they “get to know one another” without any kissing and romance, etc.  Because we know that passion can blind a person and then they find out later they have nothing in common. But in Jewish tradition like this, they get to “know one another” by talking. At the end of dinner, the fathers discuss dowry, etc. and then the woman is asked, “Do you want to marry this man.” If she says "yes," then from that moment on, she is considered “the bride of that man.” The man goes off to prepare a “place” for his bride. The bride is now busy preparing herself for her future PLACE. Her home is no longer where she is at – it is where she is going. So all her efforts are to prepare for WHERE SHE IS GOING. When is she going? She does not know the exact day or hour, but she knows the season. At the appointed time, the man comes to take her HOME. But there must be a wedding feast, that, traditionally lasted seven days. At the wedding, the bride presents herself to the man, but is wearing a VEIL.  At the wedding ceremony, here in our traditional marriages today, after the minister says, “I now pronounce as one, husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride," she flips back the VEIL and that is the REVEALING – hence, REVELATION.  It is simply the “removing of the veil,” which, from what I read, was the root words to APOCALYPSE. I said all that, to lead you into a discussion of the “Wedding Parable” – as I always get to when I'm interviewing you… but I believe that parable has EVERYTHING to do with what we have been discussing today – which is the HOLY SPIRIT is the FEMININE part of the Godhead. Can you share about this for our listeners? What about “standing at the door and knocks?” What about the five foolish virgins and the five wise...

Let's start, first of all, with Genesis chapter one, verses 26 and 27. “God made man in His image, in His likeness and He made them MALE and FEMALE.”  Then in Genesis chapter five and verses one and two, we see again, how God made them “Male and FEMALE.”  Now, you take it from there… Jerusalem is the “mother of us all.”  You shared previously that cities are named after people. So WHO is Jerusalem named after? I want to get to this part. This is the part that opened my eyes. And that is from the Book of Proverbs. Specifically chapter eight. This is referring to WISDOM and is called SHE. That is feminine. Explain that for us because it also refers to CHRIST in that passage, correct? Take us to the Song of Solomon and explain that book for us in light of what we just learned… If we take that to the Book of Revelation, where John saw, Revelation Chapter One verse 13, “One who looked like the son of man…”  what else do you see in this verse that relates to what we have been sharing? So, let me kind of summarize where we are at… The “Godhead” is God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.  I believe every Christian believer can agree on that… God the Father is in Heaven, has always been in Heaven. But when mankind fell, God the Son, JESUS and His Sister, who is called WISDOM?  Agreed to come down to redeem mankind? Its author is a historian of war whose brother was killed at the frontline in 2017 while serving in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Olesya Khromeychuk takes the point of view of a civilian and a woman, perspectives that tend to be neglected in war narratives, and focuses on the stories that play out far away from the warzone. This book is the story of one death among many in the war in eastern Ukraine. Through a combination of personal memoir and essay, Khromeychuk attempts to help her readers understand the private experience of this still ongoing but almost forgotten war in the heart of Europe and the private experience of war as such. A Loss: The Story of a Dead Soldier Told by His Sister (Ibidem, 2021) will resonate with anyone battling with grief and the shock of the sudden loss of a loved one. Dr. Olesya Khromeychuk is a historian and writer. She received her PhD in History from University College London. She has taught the history of East-Central Europe at the University of Cambridge, University College London, the University of East Anglia, and King's College London. She is author of A Loss. The Story of a Dead Soldier Told by His Sister (Stuttgart: ibidem, forthcoming) and ‘Undetermined' Ukrainians. Post-War Narratives of the Waffen SS ‘Galicia' Division (Peter Lang, 2013). She is currently the Director of the Ukrainian Institute London. Steven Seegel is Professor of Slavic and Eurasian Studies at The University of Texas at Austin. Learn more about your ad choices. “We beg, O Augustus, we do not battle. We are not afraid, but we are begging. It befits Christians to hope for the tranquility of peace and not to check the steadfastness of faith and truth when faced with danger of death.” Alongside Gregory the Great, Augustine of Hippo, and Jerome, Ambrose of Milan has long been considered one of the four great Doctors of the Church. In particular, Ambrose is perhaps best known for having set the model for the Church's relationship to the state. He's famous for having said, “The emperor is within the Church, not above the Church.” In this letter to his sister, St. Ambrose relates events at Milan connected with the demand of the Empress Justina for a basilica for the Arians, and how the people rose up in opposition. It includes sketches of two addresses he gave: the first, comparing their trials to those of Job; and the second, adapting the story of Jonah to the present circumstances, and relating the joy of the people at recovering their church. Throughout the letter, Ambrose makes clear the limits of the emperor's authority: "You have been given authority over public edifices, not over sacred ones."
