In this Inbetweenisode titled 'End of Year Wrap Up and My Personal Charter Encore,' Stacey Richter extends heartfelt thanks to listeners and healthcare workers for their dedication. She reflects on the challenges of maintaining personal integrity in a profit-driven healthcare system and introduces her personal charter. This charter, focused on ensuring net positive outcomes for patients, acknowledges that achieving transformational change in healthcare requires a collective effort. Stacey discusses the complexities of balancing ethical decisions, financial constraints, and the broader impact on patient care, urging others to reflect on their own guiding principles. Here's her manifesto which she is now calling her Personal Charter below which she breaks down in this podcast episode: If the thing results in a net positive for patients, then I will do it. The timeframe is short-term or medium-term. And the assumption is that it will take a village and I am not alone in my efforts to transform healthcare or do right by patients. === LINKS ===

Welcome to Episode 72 of the Movement Logic Podcast! In this inbetweenisode, Laurel poses a thought-provoking question: “Are you trying to spend the least on exercise?”We delve into how we prioritize spending on exercise compared to other essential health needs like diet and sleep and ask, “if investing more in exercise could give us access to better communities, education, equipment, time-saving convenience, and even luxury, would we be more inclined to engage in and enjoy it?” We ask, “considering the significant role exercise plays in our health and longevity, is it rational to hesitate in spending more to build and strengthen an exercise habit, especially when we have the means to do so?”Sign up here to get on the Wait List for our next Bone Density Course in October 2024! I was recently invited to speak by the social entrepreneurship platform Impact Circles on the topic of storytelling. How can we become more persuasive storytellers? How do we adapt the stories we tell ourselves, about ourselves? Why is finding your 'WHY' so important? As Dr Jim Loehr so eloquently put it: "The power broker in your life is the voice that no one hears. How well you revisit the tone and content of your private voice is what determines the quality of your life. It is the master storyteller, and the stories we tell ourselves are our reality."I'll continue to share these shorter soundbites, in-between regular guest episodes, in the hope that some of you find them helpful. In this inbetweenisode of The Indy Author Podcast, I pose a question to fellow podcaster Jeff Elkins about what he's getting from The Dialogue Doctor podcast, both for himself and in terms of his goals related to helping other authors, that's different after over 70 episodes than he expected when he did his first episode. As is often the case when I speak with Jeff, he took that question in a truly wonderful direction. He talked about the importance to him of building community, and how that differs from podcasters like me whose primary goal is to provide content (and he illustrated the difference with examples of several other podcasters whose names you'll recognize). He talked about factoring in where your energy comes from in a way that's much more useful than the usual introvert / extrovert model, and about how we can change the story we tell ourselves to achieve the results we are aiming for. And he offered some great insights about serving one's community while also enlisting the support of that community in keeping a creative endeavor going. In fact, I was inspired by my conversation with Jeff to update The Indy Author patronage program, as I describe after the conversation with Jeff. For a transcript of this interview and links to more information, go to https://www.theindyauthor.com/podcast.html. Did you find the information in this video useful? Please consider supporting my work at The Indy Author via Patreon (https://www.patreon.com/theindyauthor) or Buy Me a Coffee (https://www.buymeacoffee.com/mattydalrymple). Jeff Elkins is a novelist, ghostwriter, and editor with more than 10 novels on the market. During the day, he leads the writing team for a company that simulates difficult conversations for professionals to practice. He also helps authors improve their dialogue to engage readers more fully through one-on-one consulting and through his podcast The Dialogue Doctor.

In Episode 85 of The Indy Author Podcast, I interviewed Dave Chesson of Kindlepreneur and creator of Publisher Rocket about keywords, and after that episode I got pretty obsessed about my own keywords, and played around a bit with Dave's four-column method. Of course, the devil's in the details, so as I was working on optimizing my keywords, I decided to tap into a couple of additional resources, including two previous guests of the podcast, and I'm going to share with you my “before” keywords, the process I went through, and my “after” keywords. I hope this will inspire you to take a look at your own keywords with an eye to making sure you are getting maximum value in guiding the right readers to your books. Many thanks to previous guests Dale L. Roberts and Joshua Tallent for contributing to this inbetweenisode.

It's no secret that open plan offices suck. This has been confirmed by a recent study from Harvard. Their only redeeming quality is that they're cheap – great if the only thing that matters to the work that gets done in them is cost. For everything else, they're terrible. One of the things open plan offices seem to assume (in addition to assuming human beings are unaffected by distractions) is that all that matters is what happens from the neck up. This directly contradicts a basic truth about biology, decision-making and something that countless guests on the All Things Risk podcast have said – the mind and body are part of the same system. In this short In-betweenisode, I offer some thoughts on how to do great work and make quality decisions in spite of the constraints open plan offices generate. Welcome to this inbetweenisode..! (i can't claim the name for myself - it belongs to someone else in the Podosphere..) In the first episode of the podcast I set out the expectations for the series and discussed assumptions. In this inbetweenisode, I talk about what you can expect from the next three episodes and share with you just how far the podcast has reached in the first week since launch - Listen in.. It's impressive stuff.. As a summary: The next episode (episode 2) will focus on how you can share your concerns with your child in ways that they will listen to you. I also discuss some of the common pitfalls that you can encounter when doing this and I'll talk you through how your own emotions and feelings can either positively or negatively affect the outcome. In episode 3 we'll discuss how you can navigate the health system to get your child the treatment they need and also take a look at what information you should have to hand when you meet with your professional for the first time. For those overseas listeners - I'll explain the process using the UK National Health system as an example as I have very little knowledge of other health systems. I will however make it so the information will be transferable (with a little adjustment!) Episode 4 will be about how to separate your child's eating disorder from your child and how to get better at spotting the difference. Now that's all for now, but as a reminder, episode 2 will be out in a week, so keep an eye out..! Now time to listen..
Well gosh darn it, would you look at that! Adam and Josh managed 10 whole episodes! This week, the boys sit down after a long afternoon of bottling their beer to continue drinking and to marvel at their creations (If they could put them on the fridge, they totally would) and just generally catch up about the past 10 episodes, and what the future has in store. They cover some red-hot topics, such as: Bro-ing out while brewing, bro / Coconut finally gets invited to the partay! / Adams glorious servant carried throne / Hazy IPA is overrrrr / Beard Oil is so...oily. THE BEERS THIS WEEK: Russian River - Supplication / Epic Brewing - Big Bad Baptist / Our awesome Citra Pale was on the table and needs mentioning even though we can't drink it for 3 weeks. PS. THANKS FOR STICKING WITH US! WE HAVE SO MANY SWEET GUESTS LINED UP FOR Y'ALL! - Adam and Josh

Fred is an inveterate traveler. He has bicycled, walked, hiked or run in all 50 US states, all 10 Canadian provinces, and on every continent but Antartica. Along the way, he spent time backpacking on some of the world's most renown trails and so far has hiked (some are drive-ups) to the summit of 38 state high points. Knowing the importance and benefits of safe walking and biking, Fred serves as an advocate on the local, regional and state levels. He has been awarded a Safe Routes to School grant for his local school district, helped design a more walkable streetscape in his town, and continues to promote the 3Es of enforcement, engineering and education to hopefully ensure the roads are safe for all users. This episode is a rebroadcast of two interviews from episode 20 all about how we are very, very bad at predicting the future both in our personal lives and as as a species. The first interview is with Matt Novak who writes for Paleofuture, a blog at Gizmodo that explores how people from the past imagined, often very incorrectly, what the future might be like in the decades to come. The second is with James Burke, the legendary science communicator and historian who created Connections and The Day the Universe Changed. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
A short Inbetweenisode on the release of 6.2 CE GA3 with repeat guest and Community Manager James Falkner. During Devcon James promised (http://youtu.be/U46tCHFeutM?t=34m27s) the release for the 15. Enough reason to get together and talk about the underlying cause and intents. (More notes and links available in HTML version of this paragraph and in the blogpost linked to the episode)

In the 1950s, in an effort to better understand group conflict, a team of psychologists nearly turned a summer camp into Lord of The Flies. The story of how and why it was so easy to turn normal boys into bloodthirsty, warring tribes (and how those tribes eventually reconciled and became peaceful) can teach you a lot about a common mental phenomenon known as the illusion of asymmetric insight - something that helps keep you loyal to certain groups and alters the way you see outsiders. Later experiments revealed that if you imagine people's inner lives as icebergs with some things showing above the surface and some things hidden from view, that you have a tendency to believe most of your iceberg is hidden, while everyone else's is mostly visible. Scaled up, you also believe this about the groups to which you belong - yours are nuanced and complicated, theirs are simple and transparent (and dumb). This asymmetry of insight colors your interactions and decisions big and small. That's what we explore in this inbetweenisode of the YANSS Podcast. Benjamin Franklin knew how to deal with haters, and in this episode we learn how he turned his haters into fans with what is now called The Benjamin Franklin Effect. Listen as David McRaney reads an excerpt from his book, "You Are Now Less Dumb," explaining how the act of spreading harm forms the attitude of hate, and the act of spreading kindness generates the attitude of camaraderie. In this inbetweenisode I read an excerpt from my book, You Are Now Less Dumb, about a strange experiment in Michigan that tested the bounds of the self by throwing three very unusual men into a situation that won't likely be repeated ever again by science.
