Moin und willkommen zum Fleckenhörer am 16. Dezember 2024.
Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
– in Episode #097TalkingHeads.
Was erwartet euch beim diesjährigen Party.San? Was meint ihr?

Alejandro Escovedo joins as Special Guest and shares stories about running and music, from Italian trails to AC/DC fartleks. Conversation wends its way into a very special Gear Shed. Trevor regrets disparaging the dear listener.
It's been called the most shocking American youth movement in history. When it stormed out of the gates in the 1970s, punk rock told the world that the way things are is unacceptable. The people that defined the scene spit in the face of conformity and the social order, and they did it with humor, irreverence and musical brutality. The punk scene in Los Angeles was (and still is) home to some of the most iconic personalities of the genre, and was led by bands that defined it as they was simultaneously transcending it. Here in TOP TEN L.A. PUNK BANDS Part 2, we wrap up our conversation with the mensch of the hour Severo, who brings his musical insight and wit to the proceedings as we reveal picks 5-1 .If you missed picks 10-6 and the fun we had in Part 1, check it out here:https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/episode-611-top-ten-l-a-punk-bands-part-1-w-severo/id573735994?i=1000651767216If you still haven't gotten enough L.A. punk, check out this awesome Spotify playlist featuring every song heard in Parts 1 & 2:https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5txY59JXatz8rMYWitfbE6?si=cb69807f94e14c4bIf you don't know Severo, know him. In this episode, Tyler and John take to the streets of Reddit for their topics this week. The first topic includes a 19-year-old female who had the worst experience imaginable at a recent Fall Out Boy concert. They share their thoughts on that and who they think is at fault. The second topic is from someone asking: is pop punk becoming too homogenized nowadays? Hey y'all, This is a repost of one of my favourite episodes of all time. Back to normal in the New Year. Hope you have an amazing Christmas STOP thinking like a Challenger Brand, please.Zipping n' zinging through the Challenger zeitgeist is a David vs. Goliath mentality. Post BrewDog, challenger brands act like Punk Bands.Minor Figures took a screw-that view and forged a new path. They act like a FUNK BAND. Stuart Forsyth, taught me: "We play our groove and let our people come dancing”Mind-bendingly banging products. Weird. Lurid. Wonderful. Avant-garde, chilled-contrarians fusing music, coffee and art. Cult-like evangelists, venerate the brand, blotching their body with Minor Figure tattoos. Minor Figures won listings at: Waitrose & Partners, Tesco, Morrisons, Coles GroupOur conversation unshackled my noggin from the challenger-thinking straight-jacket.My mind grooved into new forests of curiosity like a randy Truffle Pig.Grab yourself a strong coffee, allow your mind to meander. ON THE MENU: 1. WHY FOOD AND DRINK FOUNDER'S MUST "BITE OFF MORE THAN THEY CAN CHEW THEN CHEW LIKE HELL"2. This week, we tap in with one of the white whales of this podcast, Danny Bessner of American Prestige, a “heterodox foreign policy podcast”, which he cohosts with fellow comrade Derek Davison. We talk about Danny's path from being a listener of Marc Maron to becoming a legendary podcaster in his own right and listening to more niche pods such as The LexG Movie Podcast. Over the course of our talk we get into Danny's experience becoming radicalized by 9/11 and then grad school, getting into podcasting through Chapo Trap House and Jacobin, podding with “the Babe Ruth of Podcasting” (Matt Christman) on Hinge Points, challenging guests, the Left crumbling on Israel/Palestine, Jan. 6 and the hinge point that is Donald Trump. If you'd like to skip straight to the interview, tune into 23:09 for Nick's dry intro or 23:53 to hear Danny's beautiful voice.
** JOIN THE NEW FACEBOOK GROUP: https://www.facebook.com/groups/802347208310205/ ** By "new," we mean "their first album came out in 2015 or later." Chad Mitchell, maybe my "best new music friend" if you know what I mean by that, joins me to talk through each of our top 10 "new" emo and/or punk bands. I chose to be vulnerable and selected mine entirely based on the total number of Apple Music plays they have in my library. Don't judge me! There was some confusion as to whether or not hardcore bands count -- I thought so, but probably had already told Chad they didn't, so we will need to do a top 10 new hardcore bands episode later, I guess!
Bradley Lockhart is a designer, musician, and professor from Washington State. He is the designer of the official Bellingham Flag, owner of Lariat Creative, and championing the state of Washington to update their state flag. Bradley Lockhart has always had a love for adventure, from his childhood days of playing in the forts and tree houses of rural Whatcom County to his teenage years of skateboarding and playing in punk rock bands. He was determined to make something creative out of his love for art and music. After learning about graphic design, Bradley started making posters for his band, eventually leading him to a job at a Bible software company in Bellingham. When the Downtown Bellingham Partnership asked for help designing a flag for the city, Bradley jumped at the opportunity, using his knowledge of the city's history and of the art scene to create something special. His flag was adopted by the city in 2017 and has grown in popularity ever since. You will learn: 1. How did a rural Whatcom County kid go from sleeping on the shores of the Nooksack River to designing a city flag that is now one of the most popular in the country? 2. What is Vexelography/Vexalology and how does it affect a flag's design and its use in the public domain? 3. How did an animator at a Bible software company turn a flag-designing contest into an unexpected career opportunity? Connect With Us

From the Sex Pistols take on Eddie Cochran to Black Flag's interpretation of “Louie Louie” and Refused trying their hand at AC/DC, Punk bands have always delved into other artists material that's well outside their chosen genre. In this episode of the HHPP the boys each choose their ten favorites. Predictably, Mike and Rod lean into the classics while Glenn tries to pull us out of the 1980s.
