Today, Toni interviews Shaa Wasmund, a successful entrepreneur with a remarkable background. Shaa shares her journey from humble beginnings to achieving significant success in business, emphasizing her drive to help others reach their full potential. Their discussion delves into topics such as resilience, the power of business to level the playing field, the importance of loyalty and friendship, and the challenges of raising a child in a privileged environment while instilling values of appreciation and understanding. Shaa's candid reflections on luck and empowerment serve as a powerful message for listeners to take control of their own opportunities and not attribute success solely to luck. KEY TAKEAWAYS Shaa emphasizes the importance of resilience and making conscious choices in life, rather than relying on luck or external factors. She discusses the challenges of raising a child in a privileged environment while ensuring they understand and appreciate the privileges they have. Shaa consciously surrounds herself with strong role models and empowers others to take control of her own opportunities and success. She rejects the notion of luck as a determining factor in success, emphasizing the importance of seizing opportunities through preparation and hard work. BEST MOMENTS "I think I have actually been unluckier than the vast majority of people on this planet with the things that I've experienced." "You're here because your parents can afford it. I'm here on a scholarship because my brains did it for me." "Luck is where they say opportunity meets preparation. And I 100% agree with that." "Loyalty to somebody is where it doesn't matter what the situation is, your loyalty to them overrides it." HOST BIO Toni's journey defies the norm. Raised with a strong work ethic and a traditional career path in mind, she initially pursued a corporate job in HR after earning her degree. However, in 2015, everything changed when she attended a property training seminar. Little did she know that this event would ignite a profound passion for property investment. With her husband Chris, Toni raised millions in joint venture finance, creating a multi-million-pound property portfolio. But her story doesn't stop there. By the age of 33, she left her HR job behind to empower others in building their successful property businesses. Toni's passion for public speaking led her to become a world record holder. Beyond the accolades, she sees it as a calling to educate and inspire. Toni hosts training events and uses her "Talks with Toni" podcast to share insights, interview captivating guests, and motivate her audience.

The obsession with money and prioritizing it above everything else is the root of all evil. Our money stories can be changed, and limiting beliefs around money can still exist at any level of wealth.Encouraging children to budget and plan for their future is a valuable lesson that can set them up for success.Developing a healthy relationship with money comes from within and starts with self-belief and self-worth.Changing your relationship with money is a journey and a work in progress, and there is no one-size-fits-all solution.Connect with Shea Wasmund MBEWebsite https://www.shaa.com/Facebook https://www.facebook.com/shaawasmundInstagram https://www.instagram.com/shaawasmund/LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/shaawasmund/Connect with Lesley ThomasFREE Resources www.themoneyconfidenceacademy.com/resources/My website www.themoneyconfidenceacademy.com/Join my Facebook Group www.facebook.com/groups/letstalkmoneyandmoreYoutube channel www.youtube.com/@themoneyconfidenceacademyFollow me on Instagram www.instagram.com/lesleythomascoaching/Connect with me on LinkedIn www.linkedin.com/in/lesley-thomas Hosted on Acast. My Guest this week is Shaa Wasmund MBE. She's just brought out the 10th anniversary edition of her #1 bestselling book Stop Talking Start Doing in which she does a deep dive teach into what holds people back, the fears, the false beliefs, the unhealthy habits, the procrastination and sabotage all that can stop budding entrepreneurs from getting started and established entrepreneurs from soaring to the top level. First time round the book had a record-breaking 14 months at No 1 in the charts and now this updated edition has gone straight in at number 3 in the charts and is WH Smith's Book of the Month. Shaa is an entrepreneur, public speaker and the author of three #1 bestselling books. Awarded an MBE from the Queen for ‘Services to Business and Entrepreneurship' she's also named one of the UK's Top 20 Influential Entrepreneurs by The Sunday Times. She became the first licensed female boxing manager at the age of 21, you started your own PR agency and helped build Dyson from Sir James Dyson's kitchen table, you built SMARTA helping 12 million people into business and grew an active online community of over 500,000 small businesses. “Doing” comes naturally to Shaa as a result of the Post Traumatic Growth Syndrome she experienced from childhood to the age of 30. However what she has learned through her work with up and coming business owners, she has evolved and developed into the techniques she shares in her book so that others' are able to build confidence through the momentum of doing. Thanks so much Shaa for sharing with us the power of taking action over just dreaming and talking. I encourage all my listeners to pick up a copy of Shaa's book and just like it says on the tin: Stop Talking, Start Doing. Thanks also for showing us how we can scratch that itch, pull our socks up and get doing that thing that is going to give us our best life. Coming from a turbulent childhood living in hostels for the homeless, Shaa Wasmund was determined to create a financially secure future. Whilst studying at the London School of Economics, she seized an opportunity to work with Chris Eubank during the lead up to the biggest fight in British Boxing history against Nigel Benn, and ended up making a name for herself in the sport. Her intelligence, determination and savviness opened doors, and soon she was helping build the brand of a small vacuum cleaning business with a little known inventor named James Dyson!Several successful ventures, a Sunday Times Best Selling Book, and an MBE later, Shaa has become a truly great British entrepreneur. She's a joy to talk with and I can see why the Telegraph described her as having ‘steal balls with spikes on'This is the eventful life of Shaa Wasmund MBE.Website: DodgeWoodall.comInstagram: @Dodge.WoodallLinkedIn: Dodge WoodallYouTube: Dodge Woodall See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Join Rob, Shaa Wasmund, Phil Graham, and Jay Alderton as they discuss the big questions in life and entrepreneurship. An episode full of wisdom, heated discussion and a bit of philosophy too! KEY TAKEAWAYS Anyone who has become a millionaire has done so will support and help. The definition of self-made can be argued as no one ever truly does anything alone. People see the end result of a lot of the work from entrepreneurs. But it's like an iceberg, they don't recognise or even realise the amount of work that has happened to get to that point. Entrepreneurship is still male dominated. This is changing but not fast enough. We need to offer as many opportunities as we can to encourage, inspire and motivate women to become entrepreneurs and be visible too. BEST MOMENTS “You can't say I am happy in life, you can only say I'm happy in the moment” “There shouldn't be a badge of honour for being self-made” “Less than 2% of all VC businesses are funded by women” VALUABLE RESOURCES https://robmoore.com/ bit.ly/Robsupporter https://robmoore.com/podbooks ABOUT THE HOST Rob Moore is an author of 9 business books, 5 UK bestsellers, holds 3 world records for public speaking, entrepreneur, property investor, and property educator. DESCRIPTION This week, Shaa shares how women over the age of forty are now the fastest growing business demographic, but also the group that is granted the least amount of funding, and why that needs to change. KEY TAKEAWAYS Women over 40 are now the fastest growing group of business owners out there. This has come from a greater need to create financial security and freedom for themselves and their families. This is the time in life when women have hugely valuable experience, a wide network … and yet, limited funding. Women need a safe space to normalise their ambitions. We need to surround ourselves with like minded women who champion each other. BEST MOMENTS 'We're going to level up our conversations and normalise our ambitions' 'We can't change anything by ourselves - we have to do this collectively' VALUABLE RESOURCES Building A Bigger Table Podcast - https://omny.fm/shows/building-a-bigger-table MEET YOUR HOST Hi, I'm Shaa. This week, Shaa shares how to make your life easier - from the home to your business. Including the Wheel Of Life technique, plus three core practices you can employ immediately, that will ease the burdens in all areas. KEY TAKEAWAYS Many of us feel as though we have had our wings clipped by lockdown over the last couple of years. When we start to feel like prisoners, our life feels overwhelming. Analyse who you are spending time with. This is a fundamental contributor in making life and business easier. Communities of like-minded people will inspire and provide accountability. We can refine the tasks ahead by separating them into three columns: Do, Ditch or Delegate. Prioritising the jobs in front of us, and deciding what's truly important, can serve to free up valuable time. When we feel energised and empowered, it's far easier to face our challenges head on. Surround yourself with the right people, the right tasks, and the right energy and we will be far more productive. BEST MOMENTS 'If you're anything like me then the last few years have made you feel like a prisoner in your own home' 'It's not about learning something new. It's about implementing what we already know' 'If it's been on your to-do list for more than two weeks, just ditch it!' Laura Berman Fortgang is an author, speaker, and career coach. She has appeared on TED, Fortune, Fast Company, The New York Times, CNN, and Oprah Winfrey, and was one of the original founders of the International Coach Federation. Laura joins Shaa to talk about her incredible coaching career across the past 27 years, the ingredients needed to be a life-changing coach, and the true meaning of reinvention and evolution. KEY TAKEAWAYS Life is like a magnet. Every single piece of rust and decay in your life is preventing the good stuff from being attracted to you Taking control of our destiny is all about choosing ourselves instead of waiting for others to choose us. We have the power to rise up, so why wait for someone else to give us the green light? The world today is constantly evolving, and can sometimes appear daunting, but with the advancing technology has come more opportunity for reinvention. When we evolve and change, we are growing closer to the version of ourselves that has always been there. Evolving is about peeling away layers to reveal what has always been there. BEST MOMENTS 'What is the rust on my magnet that I need to get rid of in order to attract the good stuff in life?' 'I was an actor who became a coach and it changed my life' 'I don't want to wait for someone to choose me. I want to choose myself' 'Reinvention is about getting closer to who you really are as you evolve' VALUABLE RESOURCES Building A Bigger Table Podcast - https://omny.fm/shows/building-a-bigger-table Laura Berman Fortgang - https://laurabermanfortgang.com MEET YOUR HOST Hi, I'm Shaa. In episode 57, Shaa give you some simple tips to start building a Small But Mighty Email List - and why social media might be our go to way of reaching people, but if you're not building your email list; you're leaving your business vulnerable and leaving money on the table. KEY TAKEAWAYS Social media matters, but we need to remember that we don't own these platforms, and that at any time we could have our access revoked. So it's wise to diversify our platforms and means of audience building. When people sign up for an email list, you have the opportunity of building a relationship with them. You see far higher levels of conversions to sales from an email list than any form of social media. Building a mighty list doesn't mean you need 50,000 people; far from it. Create engaging content, be you and be consistent! BEST MOMENTS 'Social media is rented ground. You do not own it' 'I don't want to be tied to social media all the time, but I do want to grow my audience' 'The only asset you have when growing your audience is your email list' VALUABLE RESOURCES Building A Bigger Table Podcast - https://omny.fm/shows/building-a-bigger-table To join Shaa's workshop on how to build a small but mighty list on Sunday, January 23rd at 20:00 GMT, register now at shaa.com/listworkshop MEET YOUR HOST Hi, I'm Shaa. This week, Shaa is joined by her ‘Pops' Sir Richard Needham who, as a Member Of Parliament from 1979 to 1997, served as Under-Secretary of State for Northern Ireland and as Minister of State for Trade. They discuss his recent memoir and his countless escapades ... Richard and Shaa met many years ago when they were both working alongside Sir James Dyson and became lifelong friends. Their relationship is testament to both of their firm beliefs that every success in life comes from the importance we play on relationships. Despite the fact that they were born into entirely opposite ends of the social economic spectrum; they've forged a deep respect for each other. Richard discusses his outlook on life, the origins of his entrepreneurial spirit, and the life lessons he has learned during an incredible career as one of the UK's most influential businessmen and politicians. KEY TAKEAWAYS In order to get the best out of the people in your business, you must put your trust in them and accept that they want responsibility. Money is a reward for what people do, but it shouldn't be used as an incentive. Incentives work far better if they make people feel like participants in the business. Politics is going through a dark moment now, where a lack of morals, ethics and reliability seem to be the norm. Politicians seem to think that the people work for them, when the reality is quite the opposite. Don't judge people by their past BEST MOMENTS 'Everything you say I endorse thoroughly' 'If you want to get the best out of everybody then you've got to trust them' ''It feels like we've gone back to the 18th century!' Emma Campbell is an author, columnist, speaker and long term cancer survivor with a large and highly engaged social media following using the handle @limitless_em Emma joins Shaa to talk about her remarkable journey through adversity, and her fortified belief that we are all limitless, and despite the trials that life may throw at us, resilience will see us through … KEY TAKEAWAYS Our reaction to trauma can often affect us far more deeply than we think. The effects of Post Traumatic Growth can be similar to PTSD and can lead to devastating dissociative aftershocks. One of the subsequent effects of post-traumatic growth is to suddenly become far more active - looking for things to constantly engage the mind and body, for fear of stopping. The feeling of inadequacy can compound the more we take on. We can feel as though we are spread so thin that we let everyone down. BEST MOMENTS 'Many of us don't realise that we are living in survival mode' 'I've become someone who doesn't stop' 'I turned my fear of death into a love of life' 'Life takes on a different meaning and time takes on a different meaning' VALUABLE RESOURCES Building A Bigger Table Podcast - https://omny.fm/shows/building-a-bigger-table MEET YOUR HOST Hi, I'm Shaa. In this weeks episode, Shaa talks about how her Facebook and Instagram accounts got hacked ... and then deleted - and the ongoing saga she's having to recover them. As of this episode, there's been no resolution. It's the type of thing we feel happens to other people ... until it happens to us. Shaa shares the dangers that many of us face when building our businesses on rented ground - you don't own these platforms, you're just borrowing them. It's been a sharp lesson that these platforms are more Faceless than Facebook. No accountability, no customer service, no response. A wake up call for us all. KEY TAKEAWAYS Two factor authentication is no guarantee of safety. Despite having this supposedly strong security measure enabled, access was still gained by hackers. Despite what we may believe, we do not own our social media presence. It can be taken away. This becomes unfortunately clear when unauthorised access occurs. This experience has demonstrated that while social media can be useful in terms of reaching your audience, it should never be our only avenue of earning money. BEST MOMENTS 'I had apparently contravened their guidelines and my account had been removed' 'Forewarned is forearmed' 'They should be called Faceless rather than Facebook' VALUABLE RESOURCES Building A Bigger Table Podcast - https://omny.fm/shows/building-a-bigger-table MEET YOUR HOST Hi, I'm Shaa. We all work hard for our money, but is our money working hard for us? In this week's show, Shaa is joined by Vix Munro, an entrepreneur, wealth coach, optimist and crypto enthusiast, to discuss the crucial topic of investing and how to make sure you're getting the best returns on the money you've earned. KEY TAKEAWAYS It's vital for people to be investing in something. Inflation is the highest it's been for ten years, and if your moneyis simply sitting in a bank account, it will literally do nothing. Your return on your investment must be higher than the rate of inflation. This means you'll be offsetting the effects of inflation as well as growing your money. The major players in the crypto market are in this for the long run. However, guidance is advised as there is a surfeit of information that leads people down the wrong paths. Crypto is not a quick way to wealth, but it should be considered as part of a longer term investment strategy. Markets ebb and flow so fluctuations are to be expected. But if we are in this for the long term, as we should be, the general trend is that you are very likely to see a good return. BEST MOMENTS 'Over time it is completely feasible to get a return of 8% to 10% on your investment' 'Fundamentally, we all need to become far more financially literate' 'Theory is one thing, but practice is entirely different' 'Do not be blindsided by promises of overnight gajillionaire status' VALUABLE RESOURCES Building A Bigger Table Podcast - https://omny.fm/shows/building-a-bigger-table ABOUT THE GUEST Vix Munro is an entrepreneur, author, money enthusiast & eternal optimist. Many strive to grow their financial fortunes in the belief that money comes through wealth. But as Shaa discusses in this week's episode, there may be other forms of wealth that can provide far greater returns when it comes to happiness. KEY TAKEAWAYS Although wealth or income rose per person between 1947 and 1970, the average happiness reported did not rise, no matter how much more they earned. Money is an infinite resource. We can always make more if we put our minds to it. Time, however, is finite. We can never get a moment back, and so each one we spend is far more valuable than money could ever be. There are some things that are far more important than money. Once we have those needs are met, our increase in happiness diminishes. This is the law of diminishing returns. BEST MOMENTS 'Wealth is not about having a lot of money. It's about having a lot of options' 'I want you to really start to think about where you're investing your time' 'From here on out, my focus is being more time rich' VALUABLE RESOURCES Building A Bigger Table Podcast - https://omny.fm/shows/building-a-bigger-table MEET YOUR HOST Hi, I'm Shaa. In a highly self-reflective episode, Shaa talks about how to break down the mind-set monsters, how to tackle them head on, and why personal growth is about recognising the moments in which we hold ourselves back from achieving more. KEY TAKEAWAYS We can't place all the blame on others when we do not grow. Breaking down the mind-set monsters is about recognising that we hold ourselves back. The number one challenge we have when facing our upper limits is our own mind-set. The mind-set monsters are the triggers that place us into a state of mind that we're sometimes not conscious of, and which hold us back. Our businesses grow and develop when we spend time developing ourselves. Growth is about holding ourselves accountable, but also about recognising the wins when they take place. We are often scared to downsize and aim for a more niche market for fear of not serving everyone, and thereby lose clients and income. Some of this might be true in the short term, but focussing on what we are passionate about is the only way to truly grow your business. BEST MOMENTS 'You can't have business development without personal development' 'I need to get out of my own damn way' 'Doubling down on who you serve is the only way to grow your business' VALUABLE RESOURCES Building A Bigger Table Podcast - https://omny.fm/shows/building-a-bigger-table MEET YOUR HOST Hi, I'm Shaa. In this episode, Jeannette talks to Shaa Wasmund MBE who is the multi-award-winning entrepreneur behind several 7-figure businesses and the PR genius who spent 5 years growing his brand when he was still working from his kitchen table. At 21, she became the youngest licensed female boxing manager and worked with Chris Eubank. Shaa talks about how living in a hostel, then on a council estate, in a single-parent family shaped and inspired her. She shares numerous tips on shaping your life for success and happiness, a subject she has written about extensively. During the podcast, she explains how anyone can get a book published, including how to overcome writer´s block. They also discuss creating generational wealth, building a brand, and following your moral compass, no matter what. KEY TAKEAWAYS The modern habit of only sharing the photoshopped version of our lives is very harmful. Create generational wealth by being savvy about what you do with your money. There is no one size fits all answer. Everyone has a book in them, and it is far far far easier than you think to get it written. Books position you as an expert in your field, which enables you to raise your profile and prices. It is possible to build a business without social, which is good because some demographics are turning their back on social media. Be clear about what your values are and stick to them. Be respectful of other opinions but don't compromise yourself. If you don´t let people know what you stand for you are easily forgotten. Never give up. Do more of what you love to wake up a different person. Once you earn enough to be happy and comfortable, don´t keep putting yourself under pressure to accrue more money and possesions. BEST MOMENTS ‘Equality and equity are really important to me. ´ ‘I'm not perfect, but determination is something that I've got in droves.' ‘You can build a business however you want to.' ‘I've switched all of my Zoom calls to my phone. I am Zoomed out.' This is the perfect time to get focused on what YOU want to really achieve in your business, career, and life. At 21 she was the youngest and only licensed female boxing manager in the world working with Super Middleweight Champion, Chris Eubank. At 23, she set up her own PR agency and James Dyson (before he was a Sir) became her first client. Shaa helped him grow the Dyson brand from around his kitchen table (and he thanked her by writing her forward to her first book!) Shaa went on to create and sell multiple online businesses as well as running an investment fund for tech start-ups. In 2015 Shaa was awarded an MBE from The Queen for “Services to Business and Entrepreneurship”. It was one of the proudest moments in her life; not for the medal, but the fact she was able to take her adored Nan with her to the Palace with her. In the same year, Shaa quit her job and salary as CEO of her own successful business to pursue the path she had always wanted to follow. When it comes to time for guidance in life or business, we are often advised to seek the help of someone who's walked the path before us. But which guiding hand is right for us? In this episode, Shaa breaks down the differences between coaches, mentors and teachers, so as to help you make an informed decision about the guiding hand to suit you. KEY TAKEAWAYS It is important to distinguish between the different types of guidance, as all are really quite different. Without knowing what each terms means, we cannot obtain the correct guidance. Being a mentor is about having the experience in a certain area, that may prove useful to someone also embarking up that journey, without the structures of learning apparatus. A coach doesn't have to have industry experience or even knowledge relevant to your sector. Coaches are there to help their client find their path. Depending on what stage you are at in your business, and depending on the challenges ahead of you, you may need a mentor, teacher, coach or any combination of the three. BEST MOMENTS 'I needed someone to help me go faster' 'It is just not possible to be all of them at the same time' 'My goal is to help people get to where they need to get to in their businesses and their lives - faster!' Shaa talks to visionary, coach, catalyst, entrepreneur and activist, Joanna Martin, about her incredible achievements in business and the lessons learned along the way, as well as the ways in which you can grow your business without feeling the heavy weight of overwhelm, and how to do so sustainably! KEY TAKEAWAYS Having more women in positions of leadership, having parity of representation in every business space, is the key to unlocking social progression in the world. In the past two years, women's representation has shrunk. The focus has been upon building back business, instead of providing representation, when in reality, the focus should be on building back business with women at the forefront. Juggling successfully begins with having less balls in the air. Be as rigorous as possible about setting priorities, with personal health and needs up front. Look for what's essential, and structure accordingly. Removing yourself from the home so as to work can be beneficial, as everything in the home communicates the jobs that must be done - the ones left unfinished. Removing ourselves, temporarily, can provide us with the focus we need to get business tasks completed. BEST MOMENTS 'We can't pretend like we could two years ago, that it's going to be alright, because in a lot of places it isn't' 'We need to increase the impact of women in the world without burning out' 'The world needs women to step up more' 'You can have it all. Shaa talks to Calum Simpson, an Empowered alumni. They discuss his personal journey, which has seen him overcome both physical and health challenges. How these have impacted him, and why resilience is such an essential factor in all areas of life. KEY TAKEAWAYS Just because others try to pigeonhole you, or think you incapable of achieving things, it should never limit your potential. When we persevere at something for a long time, we lose sight of the incremental progress we are making. Reflection is essential to recognise the breadth of our journey. Having a plan, a focus, a goal, is crucial in instilling a sense of resilience. If we face setbacks, we should focus on this future goal and remember our purpose in endeavour. Always embrace self-control, even in the moments where we feel ourselves losing grip on our emotions. In the end, the greatest damage we do by losing control is to ourselves. In this hi-energy and wide-ranging episode, Nick talks with serial entrepreneur Shaa Wasmund MBE about her incredible journey and achievements From being the first licensed female boxing promotor in the world and working with Chris Eubank through to her 6 Figure Club teaching thousands of like-minded entrepreneurs to build successful online businesses Shaa talks about doing the work she really loves and how everything is an opportunity to learn. She discusses why it's OK to not know all the answers if you are prepared to learn from the lessons along the way and push forward KEY TAKEAWAYS When you hybrid publish you completely own your book and can use it for lead generation Most entrepreneurs use a book to reinforce their position as an expert in their field You can use books to increase your credibility and grow your profile I believe in abundance, the more we do, the more we create, the more there is to share When a podcast stands for something people can relate to it and its easier to get sponsorship I don't think I have all the answers I'm here to learn as much as anyone else is I believe we shouldn't be calling people out we should be calling people in. Be prepared to speak out and be prepared to be knocked down You need to understand that unconscious bias exists and be actively conscious about taking action You are either part of the problem or part of the solution Making changes in how you operate isn't a check box exercise. Shaa talks to Casey Zeman, Founder of Easy Webinar who has truly embraced the power of webinars, using technology and software to better connect with audiences around the world. In doing so, he has helped others to achieve a similarly deep connection with their own audiences. Casey discusses the importance of social change, how choosing to do better is a choice. And ways in which we can affect social change and use entrepreneurship for the benefit of all, and why we can more easily create a greater impact when we increase our income. KEY TAKEAWAYS To create social mobility, then we must facilitate and empower others to create businesses and create their own income. When we create an income for ourselves, we raise the level of impact that we can make. From there it is about choice - where to invest time, money and experience in order to help others grow. When we assimilate with others, we cannot expect them to simply assume our ways of thinking and living. Cultural exchange is about the free-flow of influences and ideas. We should never shut ourselves off when it comes to growth. We have the opportunities to learn and develop each day, and should always take advantage of that. With growth comes strength. This is a great opportunity to hear from someone who has taken action and changed everything by having the courage to follow her heart and the determination to succeed KEY TAKEAWAYS I had to work for everything I have and I'm proud of the battle scars I've got along the way My Nan has been my rock throughout my life I was very driven from an early age because I understood that if my circumstances were going to change it would only come from me I wouldn't take ‘no' for an answer and from an early age I knew who I was and who I wasn't I had to outwork and outsmart everyone else What happened to me would never have happened without the support of others, everyone needs someone to give them a break When you get an opportunity it's about living up to the opportunity you have been given We discredit our educational system by not teaching about things that really matter and what kids want to know It's not that I'm a unicorn it's that something in my DNA made me different – more resilient and more driven Being resilient has meant I could take all the crap that I had to go through and it didn't consume me Being driven has meant that I used everything as a driver to move forward rather than a breaker that held me back When I don't enjoy something anymore I stop doing it. For me, the key to life is finding your own path and doing what's right for you BEST MOMENTS ‘Throughout my career, I have had a lot of people put their trust in me' ‘With business, I rely on my instinct' ‘You have to make a decision to succeed for yourself' VALUABLE RESOURCES Beehive Household podcast Shaa Wasmund website Shaa Wasmund Instagram ABOUT THE HOST Nataliya Lloyd is a finance expert and after 15 years of studying and working in the industry, she changed tack and went with her dream of becoming an entrepreneur and followed her creative call. Episode 37 - Why Launching a Podcast is Easier Than You Think with Rob Moore Welcome to Building a Bigger Table The podcast for misfits, mavericks and magic makers who want to create a profitable, sustainable business that makes as much impact as it does income. In This Episode: In episode 37 of the Building a Bigger table Podcast, I'm joined by none other than Rob Moore. He's an entrepreneur, speaker, author, and hosts 2 podcasts, The Disruptive Entrepreneur and Money. He's here to prove to you that launching your own podcast is SO much simpler than you think. The truth is, I wouldn't have launched this podcast if it wasn't for Rob. It's something I'd thought about doing for many years, but I had reservations as like most people do. In this episode Rob unpacks the 3 most common objections and how we can overcome them. According to Rob, we are living in the age of the audio influencer. You may believe that video is where it's at, but that market is far more saturated than podcasts, so if you want to get in on the action, now is the perfect time! What's more, we cover how quickly you can realistically get started, how you can repurpose the content, how it's a great tool for networking, and how you can monetise it through sponsorships. Finally, Rob shares details of an incredible free teaching where he'll be showing you how to build a mini media empire with your podcast at the heart of it. If you've been dreaming of launching your own podcast, this episode will help you turn it into a reality! Key Takeaways: Audio influencing is huge The most affluent fans come from podcasts You can monetise pre launch Get it done in days Quotes: “There's only 250,000 active podcasts. There's tens of millions of active YouTube channels and Facebook pages. So it's actually a really growing media.” “We're actually reassigning a lot of our Facebook ad money into advertising on people's podcasts, because I think that we're dealing with trying to de-risk against, you know, Facebook, YouTube, Google dependency.” “This'll take us less than 30 minutes. And if we wanted to, we could have done a Facebook live at the same time. And we're also recording the video, which means we could put this out on video channels. So actually 30 minutes could be repurposed into five pieces of content or more. So bullshit you haven't got time to do 30 minutes. People scroll for more than 30 minutes every day on social.” Meet Your Host: Hi, I'm Shaa. I've been called a serial entrepreneur … but I've never been one for labels! I've done SO many things in my career, including starting and scaling multiple 7 figure businesses, and am grateful for being recognised with some lovely awards - most proudly, an MBE from The Queen “for Services to Business and Entrepreneurship”. I've been featured in major publications for my efforts (named one of the UK's Top 20 Most Influential Entrepreneurs by The Sunday Times and one of the ‘Most Influential Women in the UK" by the Institute of Directors), and have written 4 straight-talking, bestselling books; Stop Talking, Start Doing; Stop Talking, Start Doing Action Book, Do Less, Get More; and most recently, How To Fix Your Sh*t. Episode 35 - A Simple Way To Bring More Bread To The Table Welcome to Building a Bigger Table The podcast for misfits, mavericks and magic makers who want to create a profitable, sustainable business that makes as much impact as it does income. In This Episode: Welcome to episode 35 of the Building a Bigger Table Podcast, where I am joined by my good friend and Cartel member, the lovely Rosie Whitelock. We're chatting about a super simple way you can drive more revenue into your business. Rosie is going to introduce us to her company, On Brand Planners, and talk us through how she can help us make some additional income. Now, as you know, I don't really agree with the phrase ‘passive income' because I think no matter what, there is always work to be done upfront. However, what Rosie's offering today can really be as simple as you coming up with the concept, and she'll take care of everything else! She's actually the woman behind my 6 Figure Club Planners that I gift to my members, and has worked with my friend Phil Graham on using planners to drive leads to his business, while at the same time making him some extra cash. In this episode, we're sharing the benefits of adding journals, planners or diaries to your business, the different ways in which you can do it, and exactly how to get started. Plus, I'll be revealing the one thing I wish I'd done differently, so you don't make the same mistake. Let's jump in! Key Takeaways: Get ahead of the game It's a way to engage with your audience Improves client retention It's a physical Pop Up Product Quotes: “It's like a physical pop up product instead of a digital pop-up product. So he's got the planner on the front end which drives traffic and ads to the planner, and then on the backend of that purchase he upsells his programs.” “In fact, I've been thinking of creating an Empowered planner and using an Empowered planner as my lead gen that then becomes a lead gen for the next cohort of our Empowered students. So we could start building up that list before Empowered even launches.” “This doesn't have to be anymore complicated than you - the person listening - coming up with the concept of what you want this planner journal to look like and do, getting it created and then having someone like Rosie actually ship it out for you.” Meet Your Host: Hi, I'm Shaa. Shaa Wasmund is todays guest joining us on the Join Up Dots podcast. She is a lady who has built her life around taking action and making things happen. As she says "I'm an entrepreneur, public speaker and the author of #1 bestselling books ‘Stop Talking, Start Doing' and ‘Do Less, Get More'. In 2015 I was awarded an MBE for ‘Services to Business and Entrepreneurship' and was recently named one of the UK's Top 20 Influential Entrepreneurs by The Sunday Times. Born in California to an English mother and Italian father, Ms Wasmund and her mother settled permanently in the UK when she was 10. After winning a scholarship to the prestigious City of London School for Girls, she studied international relations at the London School of Economics. How The Dots Joined Up For Shaa It was while at the LSE that Ms Wasmund, then 21, won a competition to interview Chris Eubank, then a middleweight world champion boxer. Eubank was so impressed with her confidence or "front" that he offered her the job of becoming his assistant. Ms Wasmund said yes, and so she started her business career in the competitive world of boxing. She became the only female boxing promoter in the UK, representing World Champion Chris Eubank and working with the infamous Don King before starting my own PR company helping grow the Dyson brand from around Sir James Dyson's kitchen table. From that point more and more hustle and success came her way, which isn't a surprise as he also says "I believe that we all have the ability to live the lives we dream of. We just don't always know how. The greatest courage is to follow your own path even through the roughest terrain, rather than the path of least resistance. Nothing great is ever created in your comfort zone. I believe it's OK to not know the answers, to feel stuck and frustrated; it happens to all of us. What's not OK is to stay stuck." So when the big punches in the mouth occurred in her business, how did she dust herself down and get back up? And why is her number one piece of business advice "Hire A Cleaner" Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the only and only Shaa Wasmund MBE. Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty subjects with Shaa Wasmund MBE such as We talk about the difficulties that youngsters now deal with from coming from entitlement. It's been a while since we've had the boss - Sarah Millican - on the podcast, but this week she has some exciting news to share. But that's not all we have to offer in this episode. Hannah chats to journalist and Loose Woman Kaye Adams about Still Hot, the collection of essays about the menopause she's co-edited with Vicky Allan, and why some of us are most definitely in denial. Mickey talks to serial entrepreneur Shaa Wasmund about business in the time of Covid, why women aren’t getting the breaks, and why class representation is key. In the Bush Telegraph, we're talking Page 3 dreams (?) and when bullying should absolutely be called bullying. And in Rated or Dated, we’re admiring the fashion choices but not so much the plotting as we watch 1985’s The Goonies. Have at it. Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/standardissuespodcast.
Rymel Dmot, Marilyn Devonish, Tj Atkinson and Shaa Wasmund join Nick for a panel discussion about Black Lives Matter. The viewpoints of the panel are diverse and this is an informative episode that captures the realities of difference and explores some of the possible solutions. The aspect on which they all agree is the importance of not only dialogue but truly listening to what is being said and wanting to be better because if you notice injustice and you don’t speak up about it then you are perpetuating that injustice. KEY TAKEAWAYS We all want to be treated equally but for this to happen everyone needs to recognise that every one of us is different. Where were you? You are standing up now because it’s a hashtag. Those people need to sit back down and let people who know what they are talking about move things forward. The solution is about understanding it’s a marathon, not a sprint and maintaining an open dialogue with everyone is key. It starts with a conversation but it can move forward to action. We need to have the difficult conversations with the people who aren’t yet listening. Conscious bias is recognising your unconscious bias and working towards making the playing field even. There is ongoing injustice, because there is a perception that black people are less. Racism exists because there is a difference, it’s about getting to a point where everyone views everyone else as equal. Nothing is going to change until the race that believes it is superior sees everyone as equal. If you accept that as a person you have an advantage over others it is then about wanting to be better. Being educated about why you have privilege over others and understanding why black people have a lack of opportunity and the underlying poverty is key in recognising why people are angry. If you have influence then you can use it to speak up and continue the dialogue. Listening and really hearing what others are saying is a vital part of the process. There is difference, we are not all the same, but we can learn to love each other and appreciate our differences. BEST MOMENTS ‘You can sometimes feel invisible and unheard’ ‘I speak up because I’ve been blessed with a different perspective’ ‘If you notice an injustice and you don’t speak up about it then you are perpetuating that injustice’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Empire Builders Podcast ABOUT THE HOST Nick James Nick dropped out of university at the age of 21, and failed spectacularly with his first coaching business, which forced him to take a £16k/yr telesales job. Within 12 months he was the top performer and left to start his second business at 24. This time he discovered a winning formula and before long had a multi-six-figure company. He then made a huge mistake which nearly put him out of business and cost him £50,000 in personal cash! Fortunately, Nick kept it afloat, turned it round, and sold that business 2 years later in a seven-figure deal. He then co-founded a multi-million-pound marketing company, which he exited in 2015, and created Expert Empires. Today, Expert Empires is known as the UK's number one business event for Experts, with world-renowned celebrity speakers like Gary Vaynerchuk, Grant Cardone, Chalene Johnson, David Goggins, and Lewis Howes gracing the stage. In the next four episodes I want to talk you through this process, and I’m starting by sharing my journey of getting my first book written. What You Will Learn In This Episode: How and why I decided to write a book Why it took five years to actually get down to the writing process The journey from the book proposal to actual writing How to get back to the flow and momentum of writing despite life getting in the way Overcoming the resistance to putting together and editing the content that was created earlier Blocking the time in your schedule just for reviewing the work The place of the book in my business strategy This hasn’t been an easy or quick process, but having a #1 book in 11 different categories in the launch week made it a very worthwhile effort. Tune in to hear the inspiring journey and impressive rise of Bestselling Author, Podcaster, Personal Trainer & Body, Brain & Business Entrepreneur, Jay Alderton. Rob and Jay discuss what it takes to navigate the world of business, how to turn your passion into your profession and how to utilise online social platforms to gain a loyal following. They go on to dive into the psychology behind why people like, comment share and follow and how you too can spark an emotion, gain customers and grow your business. KEY TAKEAWAYS Jay became a personal trainer whilst in debt and put everything on his credit card to open a studio. Eventually, Jay partnered with fitness brand Grenade and grew his brand. Jay's entrepreneurial focus is on body, brain and business and as a result, his business is separated into B2B and B2C ventures including weight loss programmes, accountability programmes and personal training both online and offline, as well as helping other personal trainers and fitness entrepreneurs grow their businesses. Jay teaches them how to grab attention online, how to scale and grow digital products in the fitness space and have fun doing it. “You're either a boat-burner or a toe-dipper. Don't just quit your job and follow your passion, invest some time in the evenings and weekends and see if it's a scalable business model. Additionally, you can set a 3-year plan to equal your salary through your part-time ventures and then quit your job. But when you can scale your passion and it works financially growing your business doesn't feel like working and learning is engaging. When you're involved in something that you love it doesn't feel like work.” Most entrepreneurs don't need to speed up and generate more business, they need to slow down, prioritise and systemise. You need to change your mindset from exchanging your time for money and investing to get some time back. Three things can help you start a business and grow a following when you've got nothing. 1. Networking & Joint-Ventures 2. Social Media content marketing & personal branding 3. Providing a service. Asking for help is a strength and not a weakness, the people you hang around with will influence how to act and react and social media is a great tool to practice your emotions and expose yourself to trolls and critics because if your more yourself you will grow as a person, create relationships and turn the people that hate you into fans. BEST MOMENTS “When you're a personal trainer you're everything. You're a marketer, web-developer and everything in-between” “Unlike a physical business operating online means you're open all hours” “When you're passionate about the business you're growing it doesn't feel like working and learning is engaging. When you're involved in something that you love it doesn't feel like work” “I now read 3 or 4 books a month, I now just love learning and having a social media following allows me to share what I've learnt and simplify it for my audience.” “If you can't explain it to six year old you haven't learnt it yourself” “I wouldn't be here today is I hadn't been made redundant” “You're either a boat-burner or a toe-dipper” “Thoughts are not your reality and reality are not your thoughts” “Word of mouth is the most powerful thing in business” “Top of mind is tip or tongue” VALUABLE RESOURCES https://robmoore.com/ ly/Robsupporter Mindset With Muscle: Proven Strategies to Build Up Your Brain, Body, and Business, by Jamie Alderton Contagious Book ABOUT THE HOST Rob Moore is an author of 9 business books, 5 UK bestsellers, holds 3 world records for public speaking, entrepreneur, property investor, and property educator. Relationships are arguably the most important aspect of any business but they are sadly misused. Even if a relationship is effective and profitable, you may be doing it wrong and thus hurting your future success. On today’s episode of Real Relationships I welcome Shaa Wasmund, she is a successful businesswoman and a master of relationships. We will dive deep into why going about your working relationships wrongly can be detrimental and how you can make sure you are getting the most out of them. Your working relationships can have a broader effect than you may realize When Shaa was writing an article for Cosmopolitan magazine she saw first hand how relationships, when used correctly, can have huge impacts on everyone in your circle. In a moment of excitement and unchecked ambition she went over the editor’s head and scheduled an interview with the current middleweight boxing champion without approval. Instead of bringing about painful consequences the situation left Shaa free of student debt and with new contacts. Make sure you listen to this episode to hear exactly what happened. If your working relationships don’t bring you joy then they are not right for your business Joy is a pivotal aspect of our lives. Without it even the most important tasks become unbearable. My guest Shaa Wasmund explains in this episode of Real Relationships why your business relationships must first bring you personal joy before they bring you profit. This episode with packed with Shaa’s helpful tips and tricks on how you can make sure you keep your life joyful. Don’t build a business relationship with someone you wouldn’t want as a friend Many of us compartmentalize our work and personal life. In many scenarios this is a good thing, but not in the area of relationships. According to Shaa Wasmund, you shouldn’t have a business relationship with someone if they are not the kind of person you would like as a friend, regardless of how much money they might bring your business. Your relationships need to inspire you, motivate you, and fill you with joy each day to get out of bed and tackle what lies before you. If your relationships are not also friendships you won't have that motivation. Listen to this episode to learn from Shaa what you should do if a business relationship does not bring you joy. Working relationships with friends will bring your business new life If the only people you grow business relationships with are people you enjoy and would hang out with outside of the workplace then it is safe to say they are your friends. My guest on this episode argues that relationships with these kinds of friends can bring new life to your business by revitalizing you and giving you joy. We all know what it feels like to be sucked dry by our work relationships. If you follow the advice Shaa give in this episode you won’t have to worry about that and your business will flourish as a result.
