Motivated by confidence and resistant to failure," is how Jessie Jalee Blake pursues her goals and firmly upholds her objectives. Born in an extremely large family, standing out from the rest of her siblings was not difficult because of Jessie Jalee's humorous personality and imagination. Although her upbringing was challenging, she countered some of her obstacle through music, dance and when she would beat the dresser with two combs as if it was a full drum kit. One of her musical inspirations is "Shelia E", which inspired Jessie Jalee to attempt a real set of drums at an early age. Although she obtained a BA in Accounting ,MBA, and more. Jessie's passion for the entertainment world would not subside. October, 2007, Jessica enrolled in a series of classes to pursue a career in acting and gain knowledge of film, commercial, episodic, and other areas. Pastor Brown, directed by Rockmond Dunbar, is one of the first roles that Ms. Blake accepted as a church member. Soon after, another opportunity was granted for Jessie Jalee to be an extra in a movie with Forrest Whitaker. Jessie flew to New Orleans to be an extra, but ended up being a security guard in the film Hurricane Season, which allowed more exposure. Blake's life experiences are an inspiration to numerous individual, which her book "Becoming a Lady: Misguided"(Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Walmart and more)reveals various aspects of her life. Furthermore, she encourages young men and women to never let the fear of failure stymie their dreams and aspirations. To further elaborate, "Success is given to us by default, but sometimes people choose or are forced to change the default settings. However, the settings could change back to default at any time." Jennifer Steinman is a critically acclaimed Award Winning filmmaker with over 20 years experience. She is drawn to social documentaries (e.g. DESERT RUNNERS, MOTHERLAND & SHELIA E) and has a powerful ability to tap into the heart and emotion of a story. We explore what characters & stories she is drawn to; how she chooses her projects - examining her notion of 'ease versus pushing a boulder up a hill' and why she got into the film making industry. She shares her personal journey of motherhood - which includes falling pregnant with a sperm donor only 7 days after her first attempt! As well as the impossibility of staying in NYC as a single working Mum, and her return back to her family roots in Berkeley. There's lots in this episode from the process of shedding materialism to pursuing the career you want.Jen began her career as a staff Editor at CBS, both in New York and San Francisco. Her work has aired nationally on ABC, PBS, Discovery, National Geographic, Sundance Channel and many other television networks. Her films have been accepted into many major film festivals including Tribeca, Rotterdam, and Sundance. She won a Telly Award and has been nominated for an Emmy® Award for Outstanding Achievement in Editing. This conversation also celebrates a decade since she filmed DESERT RUNNERS. We go behind the scenes into the film - from a filmmaker perspective - of what it was like to follow & film four everyday runners (including myself) as they cover 1000kms across the driest, windiest, hottest and coldest deserts on earth. Desert Runners was named by the Huffington Post as one of "The Top 10 Documentaries of 2013." The film screened to sold-out audiences at IDFA and was selected "Best of the Fest" at the Edinburgh Film Festival. It won the Audience Award for Best Documentary at both the Vancouver International and The Hamptons International Film Festivals, and Best Cinematography at the Woods Hole Film Festival. We discuss Jennifer's feature directorial debut 'Motherland' - which explores the timeless subjects of grief and healing. When six women from the US - all of whom have experienced a devastating loss - and travel together to volunteer with children in need in South Africa. This film had its world premiere at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival, winning the prestigious Emerging Visions Audience Award. The film went on to win several other best-of-festival awards and was voted by fans to return to SXSW in 2012 for an Encore Screening.TO WATCH DESERT RUNNERS MOVIE: https://vimeo.com/ondemand/desertrunners/ (CODE: StuckInside2020)

There were some things in the studio and in the news this week to that we reported on that you may need to pay attention too - first thing's first though. The BET Awards 2016. There were some special moments that entertained and made you listen. Beyoncé opening the show in a bed of water with rapper Kendrick Lamar. "Grey's Anatomy" star blew everyone away when he accepted the 2016 BET Humanitarian Award with a speech calling society to task for racism. Usher's "Don't Trump America" shirt, actor Samuel L. Jackson receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award, to references to Brexit and gun control, this year's show was one of the most political ever. After a Billboard Music Awards tribute to Prince last month that left many fans unsatisfied, BET vowed to do better. Erykah Badu, The Roots, Bilal, Stevie Wonder and Tori Kelly, Jennifer Hudson, Maxwell, Janelle Monáe and Shelia E. performed some Prince hits that moved many to tears. Did you know that 71% of Americans believe economy is 'rigged' - listen for more on this! Imprisoned former rap mogul Suge Knight is blaming singer Chris Brown and a West Hollywood nightclub for a 2014 shooting which left him wounded. He's doing the most now adding insult to injury. My guy, 50 Cent was reportedly arrested this weekend for using profanity during a concert on the Caribbean's Saint Kitts – which is illegal there. Kanye West’s art world aspirations are not new but his execution of them – as evidenced by the new video to his song Famous. Based on a 2008 work by American realist painter Vincent Desiderio, the video features the rapper and wife Kim Kardashian lying naked on an extremely wide bed in a sweaty, post-coital sleep along with some other notable individuals. Are Black Relationship Failures Keeping Strip Clubs Rich - we had the low down on this one that may surprise you!
