Show Notes Free Palestine This week we talk about The Naked Prey from 1965 (though you'd be hard pressed to know when it was made just by watching it). Filmed in Africa and staring mostly native Africans, with only a 9 page screenplay, it's a tense chase with life on the line. Cornel Wilde, 53 years old and suffering dysentery, runs mostly naked through the wilds experiencing many of the dangers of colonial Africa – and it's all due to the greedy hateful actions of an elephant murderer. This is one of my Top 5 picks of 2023. In case you missed it....Guiding Light's Four Musketeers made their debut back in June of 1983 and we celebrated the 40th anniversary in The Locher Room. The original four - Grant Aleksander, Judi Evans, Michael O'Leary and Krista Tesreau Strauss looked back on their time in Springfield creating one of the most memorable foursomes to ever hit daytime television and Guiding Light.Don't miss this incredible conversation with The Four Musketeers right here in The Locher Room.
An adaptation arguably superior to the original
In 1973 Richard Lester's rollicking romp The Three Musketeers was released - subtitled 'The Queen's Diamonds' (The Four Musketeers was filmed at the same time and followed a year after) the movie starred Michael York as D'Artagnan, Oliver Reed as Athos, Frank Finlay as Porthos and Richard Chamberlain as Aramis. Perhaps most memorable was the pairing of Raquel Welch with Spike Milligan, as Monsieur and Madame Bonacieux - she the close confidante to the Queen of France and he an easily-bought informant to the villainous Cardinal Richelieu (Charlton Heston). The movie also featured Lester regular Roy Kinnear, the (recently) late Joss Ackland, Faye Dunaway and Christopher Lee. It's a joyous adaptation of the Dumas novel with a script that pops and fizzes courtesy of Flashman author George MacDonald Fraser. Featuring the stylistic flourishes that always mark out a good Richard Lester film, plus realistic depictions of early 17th Century Paris - the squalor as well as the wealth - edge-of-your-seat sword fights and shot through with bawdy humour, The Three Musketeers was a commercial and critical triumph upon release and it is the topic of this week's edition of Goon Pod. Joining Tyler once again are the hosts of Still Any Good podcast - Christopher Webb and Robert Johnson, live from a shed somewhere in the Antipodes during a noisy Guy Fawkes celebration - appropriate for discussing a film which culminates in a grand fireworks display! In this action-packed episode Whiz talks to Joe Caltabiano, CEO of the newly renamed Healing Realty Trust (HRT). Joe, callsign “C9”, debriefs his recent flight in the No Fallen Heroes fighter jet as well as the explosive growth and opportunity in the healing real estate space. Cody ‘Banks' Shandraw breaks down how HRT's proprietary data modeling allows them to target the locations where healing is needed the most and is currently underserved. Banks details the staggering number of Americans suffering from trauma and PTS along with the unfathomable dollar cost – and the devastating epidemic of suicide. Daniel “Commodore” Carcillo announces a new strategic joint venture between My Crew Doses and No Fallen Heroes LLC, scheduled to launch on Veterans Day. The Commodore also updates us on his first healing center opening soon in the great state of Oregon. Whiz reminds listeners of the next No Fallen Heroes Foundation healing retreat in Colorado at the end of the month, fulfilling his mission objective of Healing Our Heroes At Home.
Technically, this is a sequel to 1973's The Three Musketeers, but it's really just the second half of Richard Lester's epic adaptation of Alexandre Dumas' famous novel, shot at the same time as the original. In keeping with the spirit of the film, we recorded our two podcasts in one setting, and this one picks up without introduction where the previous episode left off.
Action, adventure, comedy, romance, intrigue—what more could you want out of a movie? Director Richard Lester packs it all into his adaptation of the Alexandre Dumas classic. This story has been given the silver screen treatment numerous times, but this version is by far the best. Like Lester, we broke our podcast into two episodes, covering both the Three Musketeers and The Four Musketeers, which was released two years later but shot at the same time (which came as a surprise to the cast). Unlike the original producers, we do not charge a second admission fee to hear the second podcast.
This week Tom talks about the latest, good, Marvel movie, Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3, and Apple's release of Michael J. Fox's Still. Mark has a meeting about Amazon's "Meetings: The Movie", Air, and both classic Musketeers movies in 4K, 1973's The Three Musketeers and 1974's The Four Musketeers. And Simon assesses Fear and Loathing in 4K and talks up Apple's Silo and Netflix's Beef on TV, plus may give us a Brotherhood of the Wolf 4K unboxing!

Catch up with The Lewis Family in The Locher Room. Joining me for the hour are Rebecca Hollen (Trish), Robert Newman (Josh) and Krista Tesreau Strauss (Melinda Sue). Rebecca Hollen was the first Lewis to arrive in Springfield in August of 1981 with Robert Newman following soon after in 1981 and with Krista Tesreau joining in 1983. Rebecca made her daytime television debut on As the World Turns in the role of Tina Cornell in 1978 before joining Guiding Light in 1981. She played the role of Trish until November of 1985 and returned to the show a few times over the years. In addition to Tina and Trish, she played the part of Peggy Lazarus on Another World. Before working in daytime, Rebecca made a living working on stage and in commercials for Nabisco and Hallmark to name a few. Robert Newman played Joshua Lewis on and off the canvas for 28 years. Since Guiding Light left the air, he has appeared on stage, in primetime and on film in several high-profile roles. Some of those roles include The Amazing Spider Man 2, Homeland, House of Cards, Criminal Minds and Law and Order: SVU to name a few. He just took over the role of Ashland Locke on CBS' The Young and the Restless and the fans can't wait to see what trouble Robert stirs up in Genoa City.Robert's first airdate on Y&R is February 9th. Krista Tesreau Strauss played Melinda Sue Lewis for six years before departing Springfield for good in 1989. Fans were always happy to see her return over the years and were thrilled when she came back to the show at the end of the series to bring the "Four Musketeers" together one last time. Krista also returned to daytime television as Andi Klein on Santa Barbara. She assumed the role of the tantalizing Tina Roberts on One Life to Live in 1994, and played that role for three years. In addition to her daytime roles, Krista has appeared in several hit prime-time series. Original Airdate: 2/11/2022

Of all of James' novels, "I Am Woman" won the race as best seller of all. Four beautiful young women, known throughout the novel as the “Four Musketeers,” pledged a lifelong friendship with each other before the beginning of the Civil War and follow their lives of falling in love after graduation from the Hampton Women's College. They signed their life away to become a slave to their husbands based on our country's laws in the 1860s. Frances “Fran” Meyer, Jackie ‘Bonzo' Hager, and Debbie “Deb” Keiner all fall in love only to find out the man they loved was a traitor and fought for the Confederate forces. The fourth musketeer, Dianne Jenkins, has a lifelong secret she never reveals and has an extreme dislike for men. Although a strong word, some might even say she hated men. Then, Frances Meyer, who defects from the red, white, and blue, goes with her husband to fight for the South. Bonzo Hager is drafted by the Army of the Potomac and laughed at when she arrived to muster. She then asked her father to subsidize a substitute to fight for her. Then, there's Debbie Keiner, the daughter of a Lutheran minister. She gives her heart and soul as a Sister of Mercy in the hospitals for many soldiers injured and killed in the war… both the Rebels and the Yankees. She also gives up her love for a man who left to fight under Robert E. Lee and the southern forces of the Confederacy. As sunlight enters into raindrops, so love enters the souls of these young women and emerges as their passions in State's Rights and Women's Rights. It is how they find their truth and purpose in life. It's how the “Four Musketeers” give themselves to others. Throughout this story, they each discover that it's love, which makes them who they are and how powerful forgiveness can be in their lives. Rights for women in the 1860s were withdrawn when she married. In general, women gave up so many property and civil rights when they said “I do” that it was said they entered a state of “Civil Death!” In 1860, women were trapped in their homes and performed domestic chores and duties. Their roles as a housewife were to bear children, as long as was feasibly possible. Also, to care for the children while submitting to their husbands' every whim. It was prevalent for a family to consist of twelve or more children in the 1800s. “Women are already born so far ahead ability-wise. The day men can give birth, that's when we can start talking about equal rights!” --- Chuck Palahniuk, American Novelist --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/sidneystjames/message

Review time so soon? Yes, here are six more, with 4 from 1974. 1974 was also a good year for progressive rock. Your decade under the influence crew starts things off today with (Across 110th street 1972). Here you have Anthony Quinn, Yaphet Kotto, and A truly radical ending, also the damned theme song is still stuck in my head. Next we review the second Dick Lester musketeers movie, (The four Musketeers 1974) same cast as the first plus Charlton Heston. Quickly moving on to (it's Alive 1974) What if your baby came out of the Shute with baby hands that kill almost everything that gets too close to them. Also what is it? Where is it from? And just perhaps maybe, why is movie? Next up Steve McQueen and Paul Newman try to out Star each other in (The towering inferno 1974). Oily rags do it again here, also the hunk from the thorn birds cut corners, and mommy dearest wasn't given enough to do. In (Willie Dynamite 1974) Gordon leaves Sesame Street and is big pimpin in a car with huge ass pipes, and Diana Sands as Cora tries to get Willie to wise up. Finally today we end with 1979's (The great Santini) Robert Duvall stars as a Military douche with a wife, four kids, and a heart of gold. Hmmmmm I dunno don't quote me on that last one. Hey friends, thanks for listening. Find us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, and let us know what you think.

From website development to security to email protocol and how to best create an email that someone will want to open. As usual, there is never enough time to deep dive into each of the topics without getting too far into the technical weeds, but we cannot recommend both of these guys enough for what they do and how they approach their clients.

It's about time I tell you how I keep my head on my shoulders, wear my heart on my sleeve and keep the monkeys off my back, so here it is, a full episode devoted to what I affectionately call my AM practice, which I do in the morning, of course. It starts with a description and demonstration of the Wim Hof breathing practice, goes into a short rap from the legend, Wim Hof, himself about why the method is more valuable than ever considering the global pandemic which I shall not name (Lord Voldemort told me to keep my lips sealed!), and then my discussion of the cold shower and how much it has changed my health and life since starting it last May, before veering off into another super important cure for disease, laughter, this time courtesy of the Three (or Four) Musketeers of 'Merican Decline, that is, Crazy, Babbling Bernie Sanders, Demented The Donald and the father/son team of Joe and Hunter Biden from a balcony overlooking the sea on election day eve in 2028. Can these three resolve their differences and also answer the mystery of the meaning of the "Pina Colada" song by Rupert, ahem, Murdoch? Listen and find out! And, when that's all done, you get two more chapters from my 2015 novel, "The Teacher and the Tree Man," this time it is chapters 15 and 16 as we near the halfway point of this mammoth book! Okay, this is a hefty, but I think, important--and fun--one, enjoy!

Four Sigmatic Coffee Discount Code Linda's website Follow Linda on Social Media @ Chickfitstudio Questions I asked Lana: ● What made you want to come to America? ● As a Korean, Russian immigrant, you came to America with one dollar in your pocket, but a big dream within your heart . How do you think that dream in your heart, though you had no money and couldn't speak the language, was the difference maker? ● You had a special pair of earrings and a bracelet that your grandmother gave to you. Can you tell us the significance of that? ● There was a moment where you had to make a choice. That is when they stole your earrings, they stole your bracelet. Your grandmother had given it to you saying, “Sell this if you need to”. Of course you didn’t want to sell it. Here you are getting ripped off by a bunch of hoodlums. Your moment was whether you fold up and go back to Russia, or push forward. So tell us about that moment and how that brought you clarity. ● How did you meet the guy who knew Bruce Lee so well? ● What is the universal language that we all have to communicate with? ● How can people rewire their mindset? And how important do you think that is to their success? Topics discussed: The importance of consistency and small steps: ● Doing one push up is better than nothing. ● Focus on what you can do not what you can't do. It's a lot more than what you think. ● “A lot of us are waiting for a big success, a break through. In reality, it's what you do everyday.” ● The power of the compound effect. If you write one page a day for a year, you will have over 300 pages written of your book. The importance of mantra chanting: ● Certain notes activate energy in your body. ● Opening your heart is very important. ● It helps you feel loved. ● The more you practice everyday, you will be in a constant state of peace and bliss. ● “The more you love your life, the more life is going to give you back.” ● Resource: Thomas Ashley-Farrand “best book on mantras”. What to do when fear comes: ● Read self development books. ● Go to a workout class. ● “Keep on keeping on.” ● “Fear is a mental statement.” Ways to enjoy the simple pleasures of life: ● Buy flowers. ● Buy a candle. ● Buy a tiny piece of chocolate. ● Go to national parks. ● It’s about mindset. What to do when you feel stuck in your job: ● If you want to start something new, make a small step. ● When you start, you will create the map. ● GPS - be Grateful, be Purposeful, and Start. ● Start building your business with simple things. Quotes “Sometimes we may live in a free country, but we are not living like we are free.” @LindaMitchell “If you are listening your heart is speaking.” @LindaMitchell “The more you serve, the more prosperous you are going to be.” @SvetlanaKim “It is from the unknown that you step into greatness known without limitation.” @SvetlanaKim “We build the walls of what can happen. Today's Guest: Robert L. Wilkins, federal judge, United States Court of Appeals, author, Long Road to Hard Truth: The 100-Year Mission to Create the National Museum of African American History and Culture Watch this exclusive Mr. Media interview with Judge Robert L. Wilkins by clicking on the video player above! Mr. Media is recorded live before a studio audience full of determined African American men and women – and their ancestors – who won’t take no for an answer… in the NEW new media capital of the world… St. Petersburg, Florida! Long Road to Hard Truth: The 100 Year Mission to Create the National Museum of African American History and Culture by Robert Wilkins. Order your copy today by clicking on the book cover above! First clear giveaway that I’m a white guy: I didn’t even know there was a National Museum of African American History and Culture in the works until the year it opened—2016. I thought it was and is a great idea, long overdue, but I honestly had never heard a word about it. Once I did, however, I was like a lot of people who thought, “What took us so damn long to get around to it?” And now that I’ve read Judge Robert L. Wilkins’ new book, Long Road to Hard Truth: The 100-Year Mission to Create the National Museum of African American History and Culture, I have a pretty good idea why it took so long and why a lot of well-intended folks like me knew nothing about it before it was literally right in front of our noses. JUDGE ROBERT L. WILKINS podcast excerpt: "I grew up feeling that I was a little bit less- than my white counterparts. Learning about African American history over the years was, for me, a way to affirm my sense of self and to help improve my self-esteem. But also to appreciate the opportunities that I had, that people had literally fought, bled and died for to get me a good education and have equal opportunities to compete for the best jobs." Judge Wilkins compresses a century of Black frustration into about 150 politically charged pages of history. I’m curious to find out how he can even discuss it without screaming, but that’s why he’s a judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. A Harvard Law grad doesn’t rise to this level without learning how to stay composed and restrained, even in the face of ridiculous obstruction and political nonsense. Judge Wilkins, by the way, served as chairman of the site and building committee of the Presidential Commission that Congress finally established to plan the museum. Incidentally, we will not be discussing current political issues, in case you were wondering. JUDGE ROBERT L. WILKINS podcast excerpt: "The sense that I have is that President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney felt it was the right thing to do. This had been in the works for decades. They believed this was something that could help the country learn from its mistakes in history. And that it could help unify the country." Key interview moments: • 7:35 Federal judge Robert L. Wilkins talks about the personal reasons that he devote nearly two decades of his life to carry the creation of the National Museum of African American History and Culture to the finish line after starts and stops for the previous 80 years; • 23:45 Wilkins talks about the Four Musketeers of Congress that formed an unlikely coalition to push museum funding through the House and Senate; • 29:56 Two of the most surprising champions of the National Museum of African American History and Culture were President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. No kidding. Judge Robert L. Wilkins U.S. Court of Appeals, D.C. This week, we discuss The Facts of Life...the TV show. In "Starstruck," number-one Jermaine Jackson fan Tootie gets a chance to meet him, but in order to do so, she'll have to let down her friends. Will it be worth it, and will he accept her papier mache likeness of him? Then in "The Four Musketeers," cramped quarters and temperature and water issues lead to conflict between the girls. Will they go their separate ways, or will Mrs. Garrett find a way to broker peace with a twinkle in her eye and a warble in her voice?
This week, Aramis, Porthos and Athos sit down to talk to a movie while D'artagnan is on adventures in the western lands. The movie, of course, is the 1974 interpretation of the classic Alexandre Dumas story about The Four Musketeers.
