Episode Summary In this episode of the Canadian Immigration Podcast, Mark Holthe and co-host Alicia Backman-Beharry dive into one of the most critical yet confusing areas of Express Entry: what happens when your situation changes after receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA). Whether it's a job change, a new family member, or realizing you made an error in your profile, what you do next could mean the difference between permanent residency or a five-year ban for misrepresentation. They walk you through the consequences of making changes post-ITA, what types of changes are most common, and—most importantly—how to handle them properly using Letters of Explanation (LoEs). This episode is an essential listen for anyone who's received an ITA and wants to avoid costly mistakes that could derail their immigration journey.

Abeta*56 is a stable oligomer that correlates with age-related memory loss in Tg2576 mice

Link to bioRxiv paper: http://biorxiv.org/cgi/content/short/2023.03.20.533414v1?rss=1 Authors: Ashe, K., Liu, P., Lapcinski, I., Shapiro, S., Kemper, L. Abstract: Amyloid-beta (Abeta) oligomers consist of fibrillar and non-fibrillar soluble assemblies of the Abeta peptide. Tg2576 human amyloid precursor protein (APP)-expressing transgenic mice modeling Alzheimer disease produce Abeta*56, a non-fibrillar Abeta assembly that has been shown by several groups to relate more closely to memory deficits than plaques. Previous studies did not decipher specific forms of Abeta present in Abeta*56. Here, we confirm and extend the biochemical characterization of Abeta*56. We used anti-Abeta(1-x), anti-Abeta(x-40), and A11 anti-oligomer antibodies in conjunction with western blotting, immunoaffinity purification, and size-exclusion chromatography to probe aqueous brain extracts from Tg2576 mice of different ages. We found that Abeta*56 is a ~56-kDa, SDS-stable, A11-reactive, non-plaque-related, water-soluble, brain-derived oligomer containing canonical Abeta(1-40) that correlates with age-related memory loss. The unusual stability of this high molecular-weight oligomer renders it an attractive candidate for studying relationships between molecular structure and effects on brain function.

In the previous episode, I talked about Artificial Intelligence development and how companies like Microsoft and Google are using it Today I am talking about the biggest company APPLE , How they introduce the Apple neural engine for AI History and Evolution of ANE In 2017, Apple deployed its very first ANE in the form of two specialized cores within the iPhone X's A11 chip. By today's standards, it was relatively slow, at just 600 billion operations per second. The second-generation ANE appeared inside the A12 chip in 2018, sporting four times the cores. Rated at five trillion operations per second, this ANE was almost nine times faster and used one-tenth of the power of its predecessor. 2019's A13 chip had the same eight-core ANE but ran one-fifth faster while using 15% less power, a product of TSMC's enhanced 7nm semiconductor node. TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) fabricates Apple-designed chips. The first Mac-bound M1, M1 Pro, and M1 Max chips had the same ANE as the A14, bringing advanced, hardware-accelerated ML and AI to the macOS platform for the first time. In 2022, the M1 Ultra combined two M1 Max chips in a single package using Apple's custom interconnect dubbed UltraFusion. With twice the ANE cores (32), the M1 Ultra doubled ANE performance to 22 trillion operations per second. The Apple A16 in 2022 was fabricated using TSMC's enhanced N4 node, bringing about 8% faster ANE performance (17 trillion operations per second) versus the A15's ANE. The first ANE-enabled iPads were the fifth-generation iPad mini (2019), the third-generation iPad Air (2019), and the eighth-generation iPad (2020). All iPads released since have an ANE. What is ANE?

Welcome to the very first episode of Wits and Weights: Strength Training for Skeptics. If you're a skeptical, critically-minded person like me, you've probably gotten tired of what the modern-day so-called fitness industry has to offer, and you just want to know what actually works. Not only that, you're probably a busy, working professional with a full-time job or perhaps you own your own business or run several side hustles, so time is at a premium. Can you actually build a stronger, healthier body and maintain a sustainable, active lifestyle? The answer is an emphatic YES.Plenty of everyday folks have figured out what works in terms of exercise, nutrition, habits, mindset, and lifestyle, but there is so much information out there—even from highly respectable sources—that it can be overwhelming to distill it down to a single, focused plan that works for you. That's why I created this podcast. On this very first episode, learn about my background, the importance of strength, and what you can expect in future episodes.Full show notes, transcript, and resources for this episode can be found at witsandweights.com/1.Timestamps:00:32 - Intro02:38 - From sedentary desk jockey to strong and capable07:04 - Why is strength so important?08:18 - What you'll learn on this podcast10:37 - Unique segments and listener Q&A11:47 - Before you goRelated links:Finding Your Strength Radio podcast (Romeo Athletics)How to ask a question: ASK PHILIP YOUR QUESTION HEREOther ways to connect:Philip on Instagram (@witsandweights)Philip by Email (philip@witsandweights.com)Wits & Weights Listener Community on FacebookWits & Weights on Reddit (r/WitsAndWeights)If you enjoy the show, let me know by leaving a review in Apple Podcasts!Support the show (https://www.buymeacoffee.com/witsandweights)
