Russell Bailey (Not Just For Kids Podcast) and Will Chich return to Flixwatcher to review Russell's choice Rebel Ridge. Rebel Ridge (2024) is a Netflix action thriller written, produced, directed and edited by Jeremy (Green Room) Saulnier. It stars Aaron Pierre as Terry, a ex Marine who is hoping to post bail for his cousin. While on his way, he is rammed off his bike by local police officers who seize the bail money worth $36,000 via civil forfeiture. Terry refuses to give in to the police and enlists the support of AnnaSophia Robb's Summer McBride, a courthouse clerk. After she discovers a number of cases similar to Terry's cousin they uncover a history of police corruption. Rebel Ridge is a taut thriller with elements of the western genre. Recommendability scores were very high, only let down by low small screen - we wanted to see this at the cinema Netflix! But it still scores 3.97 overall. Next, Aaron Pierre and AnnaSophia Robb have to deal with a town full of corrupt cops led by Don Johnson in Rebel Ridge, directed by Jeremy Saulnier, from 2024. And finally, Johnny Depp goes full creep as Whitey Bulger in the film based on a true story, Black Mass from 2015. All of this plus we spend a lot of time talking about the recent Halloween franchise trilogy—so much so that everything else seems like a blur, but it's the season for that type of thing, so why would anyone complain? got a suggestion for the show?: whatsnewtonetflix@gmail.com

This week, we're getting dragged by the anchor-cable into an ancient war between angry bureaucrats and aloof teleporters as we jump in to the 2008 forgotbuster Jumper, directed by Doug Liman, and starring Hayden Christensen, Samuel L. Jackson, Jamie Bell, Rachel Bilson, Michael Rooker, Diane Lane, Kristen Stewart and AnnaSophia Robb. After a June full of five-star films, we intentionally picked a stinker this week -- though it's a movie J Mo thrifted out of genuine interest, as the talent both in front of and behind the camera is formidable to say the least, and the movie's barely-explored concept is not without potential. But hey, sometimes the most fun episodes are the ones where we all agree the movie is a big hunk of junk. Meanwhile, Justin's going down the rabbit hole of the original series Star Trek films, while Hayley files a theatrical field report on A Quiet Place: Day One. If you'd like to stream Jumper this week, you can't! It should be on Disney+ or Hulu but it's not. They want it to stay buried. Other works referenced in this episode include Pig, The Great Muppet Caper, Clifford, Set It Up, The Ring, Joy Ride, Hot Rod, Con Air, The Spectacular Now, Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, Shattered Glass, American Made, Valkyrie, Edge of Tomorrow, The Bourne Identity, Speed, Speed Racer, X2: X-Men United, The Three Amigos, John Wick, The Happening and Behind Enemy Lines. Next week, as Axel Foley returns in a direct-to-Netflix fourth installment, we're winding the clock back 40 years to the 1984 original Beverly Hills Cop, directed by Martin Brest, with Eddie Murphy and Judge Reinhold, currently streaming in Canada on Netflix and Paramount+. Until then, we'll see you at the movies!!

Molly Ford is the florist and business owner of Flowers by Ford, which she runs together with her husband out of Bushwick, Brooklyn. What began as an Instagram which Molly started in 2019, quickly grew in the pandemic (and out of their railroad style apartment no less!), and has since flourished into a full-fledged floral business of which clients include the New York Botanical Garden, La Mer, AnnaSophia Robb, Charles Kieth, and so many others.  In this episode, we discuss how Molly's imaginative childhood shaped her love for art and nature from an early age, the role Instagram played in the growth of her business, what it's like at the NY flower market before sunrise, and how she approaches client work across a range of projects including fashion shows, editorial, home deliveries, and weddings. It was inspiring to chat with Molly and learn about her journey. My main takeaway - pursue what you love! For more on Molly and her incredible creations, find her on Instagram at @flowersbyford. The boys are back with another banger banter episode! There's no single designated topic on this episode, just good vibes and good conversation. Pull up a chair and join your old pals Sonny and Tom to hear them shoot the shit about vaguely film-related things. If you're still not enticed, here's a little rundown of the topics they cover. First, the boys discuss the fan results of the previous episode's Nepotism Babies Bracket. The fans on Instagram (@AnOscarForArnold) voted in their own version of the bracket with a couple very shocking upsets. The boys then discuss the favorite Tom Hanks movies of Tom Hanks, who provided a list of three movies that he had the most fun making. They then move on to discussing video game adaptations, including HBO's "The Last of Us," what a Red Dead Redemption 2 series would look like, and how to make the best Pac-Man movie possible. After this, Sonny tells Tom about the wonders of AnnaSophia Robb's Instagram account and they hearken back to a time when Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson had hair. Finally, your trusty hosts discuss some of the ads that have been on TV lately, particularly Paul Giamatti's Verizon ad and Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul reuniting to play their Breaking Bad characters one last time in an attempt to sell PopCorners. And don't forget about the opening segment, in which Sonny and Tom discuss how Arnold Schwarzenegger would do if he took over Kevin Kline's role in 1988's "A Fish Called Wanda." Could Arnold play a mean-spirited Anglophobe? Not to spoil anything, but there may be a new contender for the award of Arnold's Best Shot, something the boys just created today. Hosted by Sonny de Nocker (@swankysonny) and Tom Price (@thomas_price22).Theme by Josh Britt (jbrittmusic.com)Instagram: AnOscarForArnoldTwitter: @AnOscar4ArnoldTikTok: AnOscarForArnoldContact: AnOscarForArnold@gmail.com

But worse than a busted video game are Angry Gamers™ demanding studios miraculously fix shit immediately. The latest game plagued by both such problems and such players is DICE's Battlefield 2042, which has had a rough go of it since its November 19 launch. The toxicity some players are inflicting on devs has gotten so egregious that the game's subreddit is at risk of closing. It all started when EA global director of integrated communications for shooters and Star Wars, Andy McNamara, expressed frustration at the community's incessant demands in a since-deleted tweet. Some Battlefield 2042 fans wanted DICE to address the game's myriad problems immediately, despite the studio taking some time off to enjoy the holidays, as anyone should. The expectations caused McNamara to tweet at the community that “people gotta rest” and though DICE loves its fanbase, “these expectations are brutal.” Cue the memes and mockery on Reddit and Twitter.Read More: Battlefield 2042 Is Now One Of The Worst Reviewed Games In Steam HistoryOne popular post on the Battlefield 2042 subreddit used shots from director Andy Fickman's 2009 sci-fi action thriller Race to Witch Mountain. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is talking to AnnaSophia Robb in a car, with The Rock (embodying Battlefield 2042 players) saying he wants “the old Battlefield scoreboard, server browser content, and great maps.” Robb, apparently playing the role of EA and DICE, retorts those are “brutal expectations.”Support the show (https://bit.ly/2XdAlJC)

For most of us, 2020 has been a garbage year. But for actress AnnaSophia Robb it has been huge with roles in the Hulu mini-series Little Fires Everywhere (playing a younger version of Reese Witherspoon), in the film Words on Bathroom Walls, and in the series The Expecting on the now defunct video service Quibi. In her youth, she had a very successful career in films like Because of Winn-Dixie, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Bridge To Terabithia. She even starred on the CW series The Carrie Diaries as a young Carrie Bradshaw based on the character Sarah Jessica Parker made famous on the series Sex and the City.

In this episode of the Roald Dahl Retrospective, Patricia and Arun discuss about the 2005 film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory based on the 1964 book of the same name starring Freddie Highmore, Johnny Depp, Missy Pyle, Helena Botham Carter, Deep Roy, David Kelly, Christopher Lee, Philip Wiegratz, Julia Winter, AnnaSophia Robb, and Jordan Fry. The movie is about a young boy named Charlie Bucket wanting to find a golden ticket inside a chocolate bar by the famous candy maker Willy Wonka, but has a huge disadvantage due to being poor and not being able to afford it as well as the entire world is searching for it. Luckily, he and four other children won the chance to take a tour on Wonka's chocolate factory for a chance to win a special prize. Meanwhile Willy Wonka is struggling to interact with the contest winner and their families as well as overcoming a tragic childhood past. When the film premiered, it was a critical and financial success making $475 million dollars. It's currently the highest grossing Roald Dahl adaptation of all time with most of the movies making nowhere close the amount. It was also given praise from the critics for its presentation, dark humor, and soundtrack. However, it was criticized due to Johnny Depp's performance as Willy Wonka comparing him to Michael Jackson. Over the years, the movie has garnered massive hate saying it was inferior to the 1971 film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory despite being more accurate to the book. What do Patricia and Arun think? Does the movie hold up after 15 years later? She creates art that sparks a conversation and makes you laugh. Sophia also makes art for social change and healing. She has a production company with Lauren E. Butler called The Tadpoles.  Currently, she is creating pandemic-themed comedic sketches about grocery stores being the club you can't go to, unemployment being the non-committal man in your life, and men's quarantine pickup lines. Currently, her #BLM art is on display in Chelsea at Hudson Guild.  Outside of quarantine life, Sophia can be seen and heard in:  In a Marvel production, called Marvels, alongside Method Man and AnnaSophia Robb, in a Walmart and starring in her comedic web series: How to New York.  Find more of Sophia: Instagram: @sophiagutchinov Website: www.sophiagutchinov.com A statement from Sophia: "I started this piece when George Floyd was murdered. Why did it take the death of another unarmed black man at the hands of the police to start some reform? Silence is Violence. As an artist, we are called to action to reflect the world and our place in it. I was told I'm too white to be creating art right now and that this is not the time to be creating art. Well, I am bi-racial, (not trying to be a white savior), yet people still tell me what I am and am not, as if they know my lineage. I cannot be silent as a bi-racial artist and I choose to stand with humanity for the equality of all through my art.  This is a cut down version of my piece I created with the same name that can be seen on my IGTV and YouTube. This is a canvas I created on video with this voice over over it. I encourage you to check out the art that goes along with it, which includes my Dying Lady Liberty costume, #BLM bloody American flag from protesting, multiple ethnicities of Madonna and Children, doves, the scales of justice, a Black Jesus, a dream catcher, and more.  Thank you to my dear friend Candace Smith for making sure my writing was clear!" --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Created during a time of quarantine in the global Coronavirus pandemic, A Moment Of Your Time's mission is to provide a space for expression, collaboration, community and solidarity. But overall, Words was well received and stuck a chord with many readers. It's not completely surprising to see it made into a feature length film.  Official Synopsis: Diagnosed with a mental illness halfway through his senior year of high school, a witty, introspective teen struggles to keep it a secret while falling in love with a brilliant classmate who inspires him to not be defined by his condition. #109: ‘Soul Surfer’ Bethany Hamilton On Being ‘Unstoppable’

Bethany Hamilton is unstoppable. Since losing her left arm at the age of 13 to a tiger shark, nothing has stopped her from living her life to the fullest. When Bethany returned to surfing just one month after losing her arm -- and two years later won a national surf title -- she became an inspiration for millions. The move Soul Surfer released in 2011, starring AnnaSophia Robb, shares that story. Bethany’s latest documentary, Unstoppable, offers a deeper, wider and more personal view into her life -- including her early childhood, competitive surfing career, marriage and motherhood. It also follows her into magnificent waves while she surfs Jaws and other breathtaking locations. In episode #109 of I Want Her Job The Podcast, Bethany shares how her values, family, faith and love for the ocean have guided her life path. If you need the courage to go after your deepest desires, you’ll be blown away by Bethany's mindset. Hearing about her life, and everything she has achieved, can seem impossible and too distant to be relatable. But that is precisely why you have to listen to this conversation and put Unstoppable on your must-watch list. Bethany's kind, compassionate and unassuming nature makes her relatable as an athlete, mother and friend. Hearing her describe how her faith and passion are her source of energy to pursue her goals, is likely to give you a boost toward turning what is possible into a reality. In our conversation we also discuss Bethany's other pursuits including her organization, Friends of Bethany; her new yearlong Unstoppable course; and her books, Soul Surfer, Be Unstoppable, Body & Soul and Unstoppable Me. If you're familiar with this movie, or the classic children's novel its based on, you probably know what is in store here. Much like our hosts, who all pretty much knew what they were getting into when they sat down to watch this movie. It's hard not to be saddened by Disney's BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA, it's sort of built-in to the story; what with poor lil' Josh Hutcherson having trouble bonding with his dad, the T1000; lil' Mary Belle and her twinkees; and lil' AnnaSophia Robb...well, you probably know. But it's also easy to be delighted by the strong performances of the child actors, the risk Disney took in faithfully adapting this story, and the always-impressive work of Weta Workshop in bringing a child's imagined world to life.
