Ile razy słyszeliście to stwierdzenie?
S3E09 - For the Glory KC is back with the 74th episode of the show! Sporting Kansas City played their home opener, and it went really well... for 94 minutes. We break down the end of the game, rate the replacement refs and make numerous other observations about the game. Peter Vermes was not very happy, but he didn't blame the replacement refs. Though he did get very fired up in the post-game press conference. Before we get to the soccer though, we have to take a detour to Sporting KC media day. I have a fantastic Remi Walter story to share (to Sheena's utter embarrassment), a few other things that stood out, including Sporting KC's use of analytics and more. We also learn how to pronounce Nemanja Radoja's name, talk about the new stadium upgrades and a lot of other things. Look at the run time! Plus, we have some league wide news around the US Open Cup (and Sporting KC's participation), the new rules that are coming in 2025 from the newly formed Sporting & Competition Committee, some silly Don Garber comments and finally we get to talk kits about both MLS and the NWSL. We also spend a little more time with the KC Current with updates on Nichelle Prince's health, a free shuttle to games and a tiny bit of preseason news. As for the Current's kits... why not just do teal? Olive and York did it for them if you are so inclined. In the Digital Crawl, we touch on the following topics: SKC II make a signing and have another preseason game Hartzell is out as the ‘hype man' for SKC SKC Academy CB Ramiz Hamouda signed with the Birmingham Legion (USL) Along with a Carlos Vela rumor outside of LAFC, a PRO/PSRA deadline, Paul Pogba is suspended, no blue cards in 'elite' soccer and USWNT and USYNT updates Here is a rundown of topics (and approximate start times): Sporting KC Media Day Insights - 4:34 Sporting KC vs. Philly - Part 1: The end of the game - 17:33 Replacement Refs - 27:58 SKC vs Philly - Part 2: Other Observations - 32:10 How do you say "Radoja?" - 49:39 US Open Cup is on, sorta - 53:28 Other MLS news - 58:06 Kit Conversations (MLS & NWSL) - 1:02:42 KC Current - 1:12:09 Digital Crawl - 1:18:43 Upcoming Schedule: Inter Miami at Nashville in CCC, Thursday, March 7th at 8:00pm CST (winner plays midweek before the Arrowhead game) Sporting KC at LAFC, Saturday, March 9th at 9:30pm Spotify took away our ads, so we turned on "Listener Support." NFL – Damar Hamlin asked who won Bills-Bengals when he woke up Damar Hamlin’s doctors say the Buffalo Bills safety has begun to communicate in writing with his family and others who have been at his bedside since going into cardiac arrest Monday — and his first question was “did we win?” Doctors at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center said in a conference call with reporters that Hamlin remains critically ill and in the hospital's intensive care unit. But they say it appears his neurological function is intact, meaning he can follow commands and move. The developments come as the Bills return to practice for the first time since Hamlin collapsed during the first quarter of Buffalo's game against the Bengals. NFL – NFL: Bills-Bengals won’t resume; playoff scenarios revealed The NFL won’t resume the Bills-Bengals game that was suspended Monday night after Buffalo safety Damar Hamlin collapsed and went into cardiac arrest on the field. The league announced its decision on Thursday. The NFL said its decision creates “potential competitive inequities in certain playoff scenarios.” The league said clubs on Friday, in a special league meeting, would consider a resolution recommended by the commissioner and approved Thursday by the Competition Committee. The Detroit Lions' playoff prospects are a little more complicated. Detroit can reach the playoffs by beating the Packers only if Seattle loses to the LA Rams earlier in the day. A Seahawks victory would eliminate Detroit. The Lions insist they'll still have plenty of incentive to beat their NFC North rivals even if it has no impact on their own postseason fortunes. NFL – Damar Hamlin asked who won Bills-Bengals when he woke up Damar Hamlin’s doctors say the Buffalo Bills safety has begun to communicate in writing with his family and others who have been at his bedside since going into cardiac arrest Monday — and his first question was “did we win?” Doctors at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center said in a conference call with reporters that Hamlin remains critically ill and in the hospital’s intensive care unit. But they say it appears his neurological function is intact, meaning he can follow commands and move. In this episode, two the world's leading competition experts, William Baer and Frederic Jenny, have a one-on-one conversation about key issues in the international competition arena that should be front and center on the enforcement and policy radar screens. The exchange took place at AAI's 22nd annual policy conference in June 2021. AAI is delighted to provide access to it on Ruled by Reason. Baer and Jenny cover topics ranging from legislative and institutional responses to big tech concerns, to the intersection of antitrust and regulation, substantive and procedural convergence, competition policy versus industrial policy, and incorporation of “non-competition” values into competition law. The unique perspective revealed in their conversation comes at a critical time, where concerns over declining competition and concentrated market power are high on the enforcement and policy agendas of enforcement authorities across the globe. Moderator: Diana Moss, President, American Antitrust Institute Guests: William Baer, Former Assistant Attorney General for the Department of Justice Antitrust Division; Visiting Fellow, Governance Studies, The Brookings Institution Frederic Jenny is Professor of Economics, ESSEC Business School, Paris and Chairman, Competition Committee, OECD

Very devastating news... NBA star Karl-Anthony Towns' mother, Jacqueline Towns, has died after a long battle with coronavirus. The Minnesota Timberwolves player announced last month his mom contracted the disease in mid-March and was put in a medically induced coma because of complications. But the team just released the statement saying "The Towns family is heartbroken by the untimely passing of Jacqueline Towns, due to complications as a result of COVID-19," Minnesota Timberwolves said in a statement. We are sending our prayers and love to Karl-Anthony and the entire family. Also in the episode ---NFL draft will be 100% virtual!NFL commissioner Roger Goodell just informed clubs in a memo that club facilities will remain closed and the league will conduct a “fully virtual” draft, with club personnel separately located in their homes."We have reviewed this matter in the past few days with both the Competition Committee and CEC," the memo said, "and this will confirm that Clubs will conduct their Draft operations remotely, with club personnel separately located in their homes." ---Plus,Vanessa Bryant mourns her husband, NBA legend Kobe on the 4-year anniversary of his retirement.“My husband worked his ass off for 20 years," Bryant said on Instagram. "Gave it his all. All he wanted was to spend time with our girls and me to make up for lost time."She also listed his accomplished and what he did since the retirement,"We had 2 more daughters, he won an Oscar, he opened Granity studios, he became a 5x best selling author and coached Gianna’s basketball team in that time.I wish I could back to that morning, every day. I wish they had a normal local game on 1/26. Life truly isn’t fair. This is just senseless." Bryant wrote.Oh, also, Kanye West actually in his new interview with GQ magazine said that he is a legend just like Kobe."He was the basketball version of me, and I was the rap version of him, and that’s facts!" West said. But that’s kind of true, no? I mean, Kanye and Kobe were close friends actually: they trained together, starred in Nike commercials together and etc.Kanye said, "Everyone in our life is now a member of the Lakers on one of Kobe’s championship teams. The way that Kobe would say that we all have to come together and win this championship is the way I look at life now."He added, "We came up at the same time, together. And now it’s like, yeah, I might have had a reputation for screaming about things -but I’m not taking any mess for an answer now. We’re about to build a paradigm shift for humanity. We ain’t playing with ’em. We bringing home the trophies."They also both prioritized family and gave up their wild party years to focus on family. ---There is nothing more important in life than family and health, guys.So let’s take care of each other, let’s take care of people around us. Stay home. Stay safe & we will go through this!Don’t forget to follow the host Simonna on Twitter @Simonna and Instagram @TheRealSimonnaDalai Lama said: “Prayer is not enough. The Competition Committee sent their rule proposals to the owners, but why doesn't it include anything about reviewing pass interference calls?Florio & Simms give the biggest Draft Needs for every team in the NFC South. The guys draft the Best Players in the NFC South, and you'll be surprised where Brady, Brees and Ryan go (or don't go).Todd Gurley is not concerned about passing his Falcons physical. Taking part in the Competition Committee discussions, it appears that the newly instituted Interference Replay Rule will only last one year. Chris talks about why and it's affect. We polled the fans on where the Bills should spend most of their resources and we took a look at the state of the team's defensive line. Former Bills DB and current NFL VP of Football Operations Troy Vincent joined us to discuss updates to the competition committee, the growing use of the NFL Combine, and advancements to the pipeline for coaching in the NFL. On this week's Handle Your Business, I look at the NFL's officiating problems and defend the referee's role in them. I explain how the NFL Competition Committee causes these problems and just how many different priorities the refs have to juggle because of points of emphasis issued by the committee. The controversy mushroomed when Clay Mathews III of the Los Angeles Rams was fined for this tweet criticizing the boss of the referees Al Riveron. Earlier in the season, the referees came under heavy criticism after a dubious illegal hand to the face call aided Green Bay in a win over Detroit. The Competition Committee had the same chairman for over two decades and other members for more than a decade. Among the reforms I propose is a specific time-limited term on the committee and not allowing anyone to serve consecutive terms. Then I take a look at the NFL's improving ratings and the reason why that's happening. A lot of credit goes to gambling and fantasy sports but should also go to some of the NFL's emerging young quarterback stars.
NFL Instant Replay History Instant replay in the NFL has not come without controversy over the years. Look to last year's NFC Championship game between the Los Angeles Rams and the New Orleans Saints for evidence. This no-call on instant replay has become one of the most infamous (if not the most infamous) in NFL history. In fact, it lit a fire under the Competition Committee to hold a vote to allow an amendment to the instant replay rule. This upcoming year pass interference will be a reviewable play. Will this improve the game? Will this take away from the human element of the game, as many traditionalists believe? Time will only tell, but speaking of time, this is not the first time the league moved into uncharted waters regarding instant replay. Throughout many decades, the league has continued to tweak the review process in an attempt to perfect instant replay in the NFL. This episode follows the history of instant replay in chronological order. So strap on your seatbelt and let's get this baby up to 88mph. One of the highlights of my career covering the NFL was watching the development of Tony Dungy. I covered him when he was an undrafted rookie with the Pittsburgh Steelers. I was at training camp the first day he came to the Steelers to interview for a coaching position. I kept in touch with him and watched him grow into a Super Bowl caliber coach. He joins us on Schooled with the Professor. Dungy is a class act. He was a great coach who learned from Chuck Noll and the Steelers. We talk about his development as a player and coach. We discuss the Steelers dynasty of the 1970s. As a great family man, he and his wife recently wrote a book "We Chose You" about their seven adopted children. Dungy, who used to be on the Competition Committee, talked about his worries about the new pass-interference-challenge rule. He also talks about the top teams in the AFC and the NFC.
This week we are joined by Dean Blandino, Fox analyst and former supervisor of officials for the NFL. Last week, NFL owners decided to alter the pass interference challenge rule that they approved in March. Blandino gets into the nuances of how difficult a task the Competition Committee has in getting things fixed. He also talks about the history of replay and how the intention was never to expand the number of plays that can be reviewed. We also get into the difficulty officials have in a television age in which fans get such a great view of plays, often times better than the officials have. Dean schools us on the current state of officiating in the NFL this week on Schooled with the Professor.

Western Dressage with Jennifer Collman How can western dressage help your horsemanship? Jennifer Collman has over twenty years experience training horses. Jennifer is the manager of a training and instruction program overseeing 60 students and 20 horses. Western dressage is so important to her, she uses it as a foundation for her training techniques. In response to a listener email, I sought out an expert in western dressage and came across Jennifer's name. A quick email and soon we were talking on the phone. Jennifer is on the Competition Committee for the Western Dressage Association of America. She also was a founding member of North American Western Dressage, a great source of educational material about western dressage. Much of our conversation is about general horsemanship principles and how techniques in dressage can help the "average" horsemen understand their horse better. Communication is a two-way street. Many times we are focused on getting our horse to understand us, but how often are we listening to him? The Dressage Pyramid Dressage uses a training pyramid to take you through steps of improving your relationship with your horse. Jennifer takes us through those steps and briefly explains the purpose and reason for each of them. While you may not understand them completely after our conversation, I hope it will get you to thinking about horsemanship from another angle. What’s in a name? This week on Cutting the Curd, host Greg Blais is talking cheese names with guests Rachel Perez and David Grotenstein. Rachel is the French Cheese Ambassador for The French Cheese Club and is on the Judging and Competition Committee with the American Cheese Society, while David is an industry veteran having been in the business for over 30 years. Rachel kicks off the show with explaining European standards for naming cheese as it pertains to American producers. The group goes on to expand on the topic, stating that the concern is if American producers make cheeses that share the same name as French cheeses, it will result in a loss of cheese identity. Cheese names reflect not only the cheese itself but also the location where it was made. Conversely, the discussion concludes that there is a gray area in these standards because if American cheese producers rename their cheeses it could cause confusion in consumers. After the break, Greg brings this naming issue closer to home by referencing a few American branded/named items, such as Made in Brooklyn or Idaho Potatoes. Tune in to hear more! This program was brought to you by The Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board. “We don’t want to change names that have historically been used in the states but we also want to protect some of our smaller producers who are making cheese.” [7:51] —Rachel Perez on Cutting the Curd “The truth would work best, generally when you’re selling something. You really just want to be able to say what it is.” [19:07] —David Grotenstein on Cutting the Curd
Jeff Fisher, Blake Bortles, Thomas Dimitroff and Jim Mora Sr... Rich Eisen is joined by St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher, who also serves as co-chair of the NFL's Competition Committee. Eisen and Fisher have an engaging chat about what prospective rule changes are in the mix for 2014 and if injury-ridden and embattled quarterback Sam Bradford is the answer for the franchise moving forward. Next, former University of Central Florida quarterback and top draft prospect Blake Bortles joins Eisen from the 2014 NFL Scouting Combine to discuss his future in the National Football League. The 2013 AAC Player of the Year and Fiesta Bowl champion has seen his draft stock rise in recent weeks, and Bortles was the only one of the top three-rated quarterbacks (Johnny Manziel and Teddy Bridgewater) to throw for scouts in Indianapolis. Atlanta Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff then sits down with Eisen to talk about the combine from the front-office point of view and how players can rise and fall on a team's draft board simply by how they run the 40-yard dash. Dimitroff also discusses how his team went from 13-3 and the brink of the Super Bowl in 2012 to 4-12 and last place in the NFC South in 2013. The podcast rounds out with our show's resident movie critic Jim Mora Sr., who is back to select who he thinks will take home the gold statues in a variety of categories at Sunday night's 86th annual Academy Awards. The winningest coach in New Orleans Saints history practically grew up on a movie lot as a kid in Los Angeles and sees just about every new flick that comes out, so who better to evaluate Hollywood's biggest stars on their biggest night? The former Colts coach also shares a great story from his days in Indianapolis, when the team had the No.1 overall pick and was choosing between Peyton Manning and Ryan Leaf. Raider Nation Podcast - Oakland Raiders News and Opinion with Raider Greg
TOPICS: Segment #1: "Tuck THIS!" NFL owners approved all six of the rule changes proposed by the Competition Committee, including the elimination of the "tuck rule". The rule that never should have been, which stopped the Raiders from advancing to the AFC Championship game on January 19, 2002. Raider nation is a little upset that the NFL defended the rule for so long, and now is finally eliminating it. We relive that painful event one more time, and Raider Greg gives his take. Segment #2: "Burn it to the GROUND!" GM Reggie McKenzie looks to be beginning a major rebuilding of the Raiders by not retaining a few former key players and picking up some reasonably priced free agents for our defense. Will there be any more free agent moves, or have we seen the last for this off-season? Raider Greg gives his thoughts. Segment #3: "What will Reggie do in the Raiders 2013 draft?" Will we keep our #3 overall pick and use it ourselves? If so, on who? Defensive lineman? Linebacker? Quarterback? Will Reggie trade down for more picks? Will we take a QB in the later rounds? What about Carson Palmer's situation. That could have a major bearing on what we do in the upcoming draft. Will Terrelle Pryor be our starting QB, or will it be someone we don't yet have?
